ECa - so you won't be going for one then?

what a pity you can't get the maternity version, say an extra large one, perhaps with handles??

mammyjo · 09/03/2007 10:43

Eewww, do people really sell mooncups second hand on ebay? Would have to draw the line there

mammyjo · 09/03/2007 10:44

Lol mmk!! Post baby it would have to be like one of those old fashioned bed pans!!

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 10:45

mmk - any mug will do - just whip one out the cupboard and in it goes! Guffaw

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 10:45

ROFL bed pan - my mum has one of those on her wall - should I ask to borrow it?

Eddas · 09/03/2007 10:47

I have never heard of a mooncup, are they commonly used? Keep chuckling now

mmk · 09/03/2007 10:48

octopussy
oh stop! I am howling at my desk again, desperately trying to control a laughing fit, have to go out.....

I have never laughed so much as I have since i encountered you wonderful people!

mammyjo · 09/03/2007 10:57

Wouldnt want to be in your kitchen for tea if you are using any old mug!!
You can buy them in boots now too, noticed them on my travels the other day.

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 11:12

Boo! Tis I - just taking the opportunity to have a quick catch-up etc - The mummy from the family we're staying with is at a toddler group with her LO's and the two daddies are making pizza with DD1 in the kitchen and DD2 is having a wee snooze - So hello!

Having a lovely time here in Bonny Scotland - have been very busy seeing the sights and shopping etc The family we are staying with are absolutely lovely and their children are gorgeous! So nice to be away - finding keeping the pace tough - quite sore, out of breath and tired, but doing ok - A much needed holiday for the Dippy Clan!

How are you doing Eca? Sounds very scary - you poor, poor thing - I am not great with needles etc either, so you were v.brave - Hope you are feeling heaps better now sweetie. Not nice. [hugs]

How are you opinions? I had to go into hospital for something similar about three weeks ago - stabbing pains in my abdomen and back - they said everything was fine with bubs, but it was probably muscular-skeletal. Hoping you are managing to get some good rest and you are feeling a little more comfortable. [hugs]

Glad your Strep B test was negative Nutty - gotta do mine when I get back from hols .... I think it is a very good idea for everyone to do one .... In fact, I personally think the NHS should do them as standard for every preggy mummy .... Grrrr!

Anyway, best go; but glad everyone is doing ok and our two sets of twins are still safely tucked up and getting nice and big and healthy ..... (Though I expect poor oooogs and 1B3 would like them out by now, eh!!?)

Love and [hugs] to all!

I'm 34 + 1 today ... where has the time gone!!!!?

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 09/03/2007 11:17

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 11:20

Glad to hear you are having a good time CD!

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 11:24

Thanks Bramshott - how are you doing sweetie?

zazas · 09/03/2007 11:25

Hello, have enjoyed catching up on everything - plus it was was the break I needed from work!

I hope those who have been feeling ill are on the mend - pregnancy is tough enough without extras like throwing up. My DD has another cold and she is getting the picture that I really don't want kisses all over my face at the moment!

Can't believe it is down to the last month now...haven't quite got to that stage where I feel so BIG that I am desperate for labour to start but are heading that way.

Loads of Braxton Hicks but it is the 'knitting neddle' pain that I feel deep down below that really cripples me - does anyone else get this? I am always concern that it will mean my waters will go (as they have the last 2 times).

Finally please reassure me that we are not the only couple that hasn't decided on a name yet?? Not even a short list of ones we both agree on - she is known as Flapjack by the other DC's and at this rate will be staying that way!

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 11:33

Hello zazas - Good to see you sweetie! DH and I have always had a boy's name; but we've never really had any girl's name ..... and so far we've had two girls!! DD1's name just "came to us" about five mins after she was born - wasn't even a name we'd mentioned before. DD2 was named the day after she was born after a bit of thought etc We do have a boy's and a girl's name this time, but we're open to change.... Don't worry about it - sometimes I think it is much better to actually "meet" your little person before naming them, iykwim!!? Do you have any ideas at all? Do you have other children? You'll be fine!

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 11:33

CD - great thanks! Can't believe I am nearly 36 weeks - I never thought I would get this far!! Knowing my luck I will now go to 42!

Zazas - knitting needles - oh yes!! Especially while sitting propped up reading in bed. Think I terrify DH every time I do a sharp intake of breath! I think it's just the baby knocking against your cervix (punching it, headbutting it, whatever it is they do)!

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 11:34

I am soooo glad you have got this far honey - no reprise of last time for you!! Great stuff!

mammyjo · 09/03/2007 11:41

Morning CD, glad you are having a good time in Scotland.
Bramshott, I am convincing myself I will go to 42 weeks too. The little bugger gives me a couple of signs that it may be on its way just to tease me I think!! Quite sure I will still be sat here past my due date as with ds.

zazas · 09/03/2007 11:48

CD - I think you are right we might just wait until she arrives! Problem is that we have 4 kids between us and names we like conflict with the others! We know it is a girl and the irony is that we had agreed on a boy's name right from the start!

Bramshott - yes that descibes the pain - I also think it is the baby bouncing away down there!!!

AngeG · 09/03/2007 11:57

Morning Ladies,

Had my AN appointment yesterday and all has been agreed for my C-section. I have been given a date of 4th April...I'm really disappointed because I wanted to have it before the 2nd because my brother flies out to India with his new job then, but they couldn't fit me in any earlier I spent most of the afternoon in tears and cried on the phone to the poor women who was lovely.

I'll be 39+3 then so she did say I had a chance of going into labour before in which case they would do the section earlier, so now half of me is praying to go into labour and the other half is panicing that I won't know I'm in labour and leave it too late and they'll say you're managing well you don't really need a section.

Sorry this is such a selfish post, but I am finding everything too much at the moment. Allen was away yesterday when the hospital phoned so I haven't even spoken to him about it yet

I have been reading everything and lurking think the breasfeeding thread is great idea but agree we ought to hide it. Hope everyone who has had scares is ok sorry I can't remember everyone by name.

Sorry again, think I'll go back to lurking til I can be more upbeat and positive.

Love to you all xx

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 12:03

Oh AngeG - sorry you are feeling down. That sounds a bit crap tbg - 39+3 sounds pretty late for an elective section, and how can they say stuff like "of course it's very likely you'll go into labour before then" - oh great, and then you'll end up with an emergency section which no-one wants (least of all the hospital I would have thought). Feel on your behalf.

AngeG · 09/03/2007 12:08

Thanks Bramshott. I'm sure I'll feel better when I've spoken to Allen, I just feel it's too late. I really don't want an emergency section because I'm in labour

hensden · 09/03/2007 12:09

Hi all, lots happening on here as usual just mailed katy44 with my number as it's all getting a bit 'real' now.

We haven't got any names here, we are useless at deciding with DS and DD it was really last minute Dh just left it up to me, we even picked DS's middle name in the registrars(sp?) office. I think it's such a huge responsibility I'd prefer it if the midwife just introduced us at the birth, sort of "it's a boy and his name is ......."

Eddas sounds like we either have the same MW or the poke you bum in the air at every opportunity and sit like a cowboy advice is the new craze

Just wondered if anyone had any advice on after pains. Didn't have much after DC no1 but were awful after DC no2. Have heard they get worse each time. Is this true, can I go to the GP now to get a store of codeine ready???? Any tips??

Take care all

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 12:19

AngeG - I'm sure I'd feel exactly the same. Any chance you can go back and see them again in a couple of weeks time, or that your GP can take it up on you behalf? I know that more women have VBAC these days, but surely if you had a previous section, and very definitely want another section, you should be offered a date which is sufficiently early to make it likely you'll get the nice calm elective section you want, rather than a panic.

AngeG · 09/03/2007 12:23

I'm seeing the MW next week, so will ask, but tbh I think I'm stuck with the 4th, unless I go into labour or start to get signs of pre-eclampsia like last time.

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 12:37

angeG - you could ask them to ring if there was an earlier cancellation! Seems a bit mad but you never know! sorry to hear your brother will miss it xoxoxox

afterpains - think prescription drugs voltarol suppositories are a godsend!

CD - glad holiday is going well

Ours is going to be called Ernie - minor debate going on about whether Ernest or Ernie - but it is a definite first name!

Not sure if I mentioned it - but I would quite like to be a few days late so the boys are back at playgroup/school.

Have been pondering what am going to do with the boys while I am labouring at home - my mum will be coming to look after them but they will be here I would like to labour in my lounge so have lots of room for birthing ball and sofas etc but not if they are trying to watch Wonder Pets at the same time!
