It only took us two weeks to fill up the last thread!

@PeachIcedT I'm with you on gardening planning worry. I've decided to go low profile this year (tomatoes, yellow beans, sunflowers, osteospermum, sweet peas and spring bulbs) and see how it goes. I have also ordered a few plant plugs to fill out containers as an easy option.

Hopefully the baby will be happy to use the sling and let me do some garden work on sunny and dry days.

nursebickypegs · 26/03/2017 21:45

@RasperryInAMelon please do! I'm going to set up the next to me this week, and try and figure out if we can get away with not moving anything as I'm unbelievably lazy.

@newbieho @PeachIcedT I'm going to plant some flowers and shrubs this week, I dream of planting my own vegetables. My dream since we moved here 2 years ago was chickens and a mini veggie patch.

Still got a niggling back ache like period pain, so going to have a bath.

PeachIcedT · 26/03/2017 21:55

@newbieho sounds like you're starting off a great mix of stuff! And you reminded me I still need to start off sunflowers. We have an allotment and part of our contract says it needs to be at least 75% worked on so I'm under pressure to fill my 50m2 space! DH has all these ideas about taking little one on trips to the patch during our mat/pat leave. I am hoping to put a playmat on the lawn and sort of do gardening whilst watching her - not sure how realistic I'm being!

@nursebickypegs chickens are definitely on my list! Just need a bigger garden Smile. I think it's a great thing for kids to grow up with.

We wash everything in plain non bio and comfort pure. I just use a gentle bleach or detol laundry stuff to boost it for stains or sweaty gym clothes. I washed all new clothes till he was over a year and then asked a friend how long she did it for and she laughed in my face that I was still doing it. Will give all the newborn and 0-3 a wash this time and then stop.

Had a lovely day with my little family, we sold my old car so that's a bit of a relief.

Those with acid reflux omeprozole has literally been a cure for me so fingers crossed you get that to try.

Rasberry that sucks about your bedroom. We've moved to a diff room this time and it's much better for bedside crib, last time there was no room by the bed and it was one of the reason we evicted him quite early on which I hope not to need to do this time as our bedroom is on a diff floor to the nursery. Have you got a chest of drawers that you can temporarily put in the nursery to make more room in your room? Or ditch your bedside table, just cope with your drink in a bottle so hopefully no spills?

ShiniBerry · 26/03/2017 22:02

Sorry to hear about your mum Bright but it sounds like you made the right decision!

Rustler sounds like you're having a great NCT experience, i'm hoping mine will be as good! Looking forward to starting the classes next weekend.

Mrs JW it IS a lot of growth! Everyone who sees me remarks on it too. I have another growth scan on Tuesday so wondering what this little boy is measuring at now!

Love that photo MrsPage.

Raspberry and everyone who's feeling completely useless (including me), I think we all have to give ourselves a break and let DHs take over. I am a perfectionist and always end up re-doing anything DH does, but I am coming to realise that I need to let go of my control issues and let him do some of this stuff as well, plus it will make him feel more involved with baby stuff.

NurseBickyPegs sorry to hear it's been a rough day, next year will be so much better!

Now that the weather is finally nice I need to get my baby clothes washed too. I've been reading up on this and it does seem that washing baby clothes is recommended because of the fabric treatments/chemicals used. I've heard non-bio is best. We're going to try out fairy non-bio with comfort fabric softener (only two bottles which had babies on them, so figured they must be OK to use??!!). Am also thinking about washing all the stuff we've been given that's pre-worn (so likely had dribble/food/pee/poo on them) in a bio detergent first and then in non-bio...

peasandquiet · 26/03/2017 22:02

Also just incase anyone is looking at a pacapod changing bag there is this discount code that just came up in my sponsored FB ad's for the pacapod website.

Enter code: PACAPODMAMA to get your exclusive 20% discount off all changing bags for 3 days only!

RasperryInAMelon · 26/03/2017 22:06

@peasandquiet there's no room in the nursery either and we're hoping to evict DD fairly quickly TBH so I think we'll just have to deal with it.

ShiniBerry · 26/03/2017 22:12

Also a friend sent me this slightly terrifying but mostly encouraging extract from Hurrah for Gin. I've been so occupied with getting through pregnancy and labour that i've not considered the afterwards as much except to know it's going to be difficult. I might have to pick up the book!

hurrahforgin.com/2017/03/21/i-dont-know-what-im-doing/

newbieho · 26/03/2017 22:15

Thanks for the link @ShiniBerry - sounds like a good read.

50m2 @PeachIcedT - it's not an allotment, it's s farm!

nursebickypegs · 26/03/2017 22:20

@ShiniBerry it's such a worthwhile read!

Just called the midwife as the pain is quite horrible and I'm worried. She's told me off about swimming too much Sad been ordered to take it easy from now on. DH is running me a bath. I'm 99.9% sure its braxton hicks but I just worry.

Tickyboovicki · 26/03/2017 22:21

Does anyone have any recommendations for a maternity belt? Really struggling with back ache, not sure I can last another 5-9ish weeks and desperate for something to help!

MrsJW15 · 26/03/2017 22:47

Right non-bio it is then!

Peas that reminds me, really need to look at changing bags. Have no idea what we need.

Shini that book is good!

Hugs nurse, that sounds tough. Hope the bath helps.

Ticky I've found the JoJo one quite good. I wear it if I'm walking around a bit, it feels like it's holding things in the right place if that makes sense!

Teaspoon74 · 26/03/2017 23:05

Spent the last couple of weekends washing gifted and new so they're all fresh and clean to bubs:

Sheets, blankets and grow bags are done.
Onesies and tees and leggings are done.
And dresses are nearly finished.

What next?!?

OH has been touching up the painting etc around the new windows, and has ideas about other decorating work. Getting tired just watching him!!

Peach - good luck with the allotment plans!! We've decided to give ours up. Difficult decision, but I just can't see it being manageable with a little one in tow ;(

Shini - get it! Hurrah for gin is fab!!

nursebickypegs · 27/03/2017 00:05

Bath gave me a little comfort and now I'm propped up with pillows. I'm thinking it might be SPD pain as there's no pattern, it's constant and it's right on my already-knackered-from-Perths-disease hip. Going to listen to audible until I doze off.

RasperryInAMelon · 27/03/2017 02:56

Wide awake with horrendous backache and the nightclub in my tummy seems to have just opened 😩

Barnes79 · 27/03/2017 07:34

I think I now have indigestion - is that where you constantly burp with a little follow through ? I couldn't get to sleep until about midnight because of it and have the same this morning just from having a drink! Although I wonder if it's just the tail end of my bug from last week... Blush

Rustler74 · 27/03/2017 07:34

@nursebickypegs sorry to hear about your hip ! Have you had the osteotomy when you were younger ? Perthes disease is one of the most occuring conditions in otherwise healthy kids that we see in our practise. You could really do with being prioritised to see a good physiotherapist! When will you finish work?

@RasperryInAMelon hope you managed to get back to sleep despite having a party or nightclub in your belly! Sorry that did make me laugh!

@Teaspoon74 I think I'll follow your example with washing everything! I'll probably do it As soon as we have a wardrobe, but I need my OH to decide where we want it so we can decide what and how big we are getting one. Ironing the baby clothes is just not going to happen.

After Friday I'd really like to meet up again! I'm not overly great at organising but I'd be game if we do something. Hopefully people are finishing work soon anyway so maybe we could consider a daytime meet up ?

RasperryInAMelon · 27/03/2017 07:46

@nursebickypegs and anyone else with interior ideas - see below photos of our room (the Moses basket is currently full of all of my extra pillows next to my dressing table)

@Barnes79 I've been having burps combined with reflux, not pleasant at all 😔

@Rustler74 on and off sleep. I'm knackered this morning but annoyingly am now feeling tired but not sleepy if that makes sense? I know if I'd just stayed in bed I'd have been restless and just laid there.

Bring on my last day on Friday that's all I can say!

RasperryInAMelon · 27/03/2017 07:47

Generally helps if you post the pictures you talked about... 🤦🏼‍♀️

Question - how many cellular blankets do we need generally?? Worrying I haven't got enough!
Also can anyone advise what's the deal with hats - do they always need to wear a hat, just once born, just when it's cold ????
I thought I was prepared and now panicking about hats and blankets!!

RasperryInAMelon · 27/03/2017 08:16

@mrspage1985 I've only got 3 cellular blankets. I've got a few fleece ones too though... good question!

Rustler74 · 27/03/2017 08:30

@RasperryInAMelon we have the same bed in black. Not sure if I could figure out whether yo can change it 90 degrees to be where the chest of drawers is and put that between the two windows? Loving the colour scheme!

So ladies, is this what we need?

www.whittleburyhall.co.uk/spa/package-finder/the-day-spa-mums-to-be-day

I've been here before and it's just the nicest spa! For comparison, a similar package from Sopwell House in St Albans costs £50 more!

lullaby23 · 27/03/2017 08:37

mrs DS didn't wear a hat as a newborn, he runs quite hot and had a lot of hair from birth. He also wouldn't tolerate mittens that they kept putting on him in hospital Smile

Had a lovely Mother's Day and was throughly spoilt. Sorry to all who struggle with it. Had an awful nights sleep, woke up twice after really distressing dreams involving DS/babies and took a while to get back to sleep. Went to a mums and babies cinema screening which was noisy but quite fun, wore DS out who has fallen asleep on me again!

Hope your last week is tolerable raspberry and your back is feeling better today nurseb.

savagehk · 27/03/2017 08:42

@mrspage1985 generally one blanket here for naps when he wasn't in his sleeping bag. At night just the sleeping bag. Hats - he was a winter baby so we did use them outside, inside we never bothered. Remember a baby overheating is more dangerous than a cold baby. A cold baby will let you know, a hot baby might get drowsy and be more of a SIDS risk. (We also had a baby that 'ran warm' though so never did the extra-layer malarkey either, he was sweating at under a week old when we tried that.)

RasperryInAMelon · 27/03/2017 08:50

@Rustler74 if the bed went there it'd be impossible to get in and there's a cupboard in the corner on his side too which has another chest of drawers in it

I'd kill for a proper spa day like that. DH and I are going away for the weekend at the end of April and I've got another pregnancy massage booked for then which will be lovely!
