Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello Eveyone!

I'm due November 14, which is a bit of a problem as DS's birthday is Nov 12. Well, I was 2 weeks early last time, so hopefully I'll be early this time.

DS is 3 years and 3 months, and think that he'll be just a bit upset if his new sibling ruins his birthday party...or else he'll think s/he is his present.

Found out last week I was pregnant (we were ttc for 2 months). Very different from my first pregnancy. I was sick, sick, sick from the minute I got pregnant last time. This time, I wouldn't have known (except for sore nipples) that I was pregnant. I do feel really bloated, though and my stomach is really smushy and wobbly....wait, that's only the weight I never lost from the last pregnancy.

I agree that time seems to be going by very s..l..o..w..l..y.

Can't wait to get to know you all better.

iris66 · 14/03/2007 07:53

Cooo - aren't there a lot of us now

peanutbutter - I totally sympathise with you. My Dh works away alot too. I already know that I'm going to be on my own for at least 4 months of this pg (though thankfully not all in one go!) It's a PITA isn't it - but you do get the whole bed to yourself!

nykate - FWIW friends of mine have said that the biggest change is from 1 to 2 children. Apparently having a 3rd is a doddle in comparison.

stripeybumpsmum - my ds is 14mths too! I remember your name - were you on the Jan 06 thread for a while?)

Anyone else managing to eat through their morning sickness? I seem to be stuffing my face 24/7 (little wonder I've ballooned!!!)

peanutbutter · 14/03/2007 08:42

morning all, what a lovely sunny day it is here.

iris66 - yes, having the bed to yourself is brill isn't it I love the first couple of nights dh is away so i can sprawl in comfort and without getting woken up by his farmyard style grunting and snoring!

Pixiefish - glad you got some good news on the HCG levels. are they going to send you for another scan?

Hello to everyone else.

SparklyGothKat · 14/03/2007 09:39

I was sick this morning for the first time, ate my brekkie and settled my stomach then threw the lot up I have never had MS with any of my pregnancies so this is a shock to my system.

iris66 · 14/03/2007 10:32

SparklyGothKat - about the MS. I seem to be just about able to control mine with all the eating but I have to start as soon as I wake up. I seem to remember someone saying that drinking water with slices of lemon in it helps to reduce the excess acid if it gets bad though (not tried it myself but it may be worth a go?)

xxsummerxx · 14/03/2007 10:32

Hi everyone,

Just found out yesterday that I am expecting my 3rd child on or around the 19th Nov, havent had it confirmed by the doctor yet (couldnt get an appt till Mon), but have done 2 home tests and both very positive.

maisym · 14/03/2007 20:37

hello xxx

did another test & bfp

will call my doc tomorrow to have a blood test.

Jonze · 14/03/2007 20:53

Does anyone know anything about home births in this country? Not that I want to have one, but I think I'm probably going to have one (last time, ds took 1.5 hours from very first contraction to time he was out...didn't make it to my private hospital...cab refused to take me and swerved into the local NHS hospital 5 minutes away from home. I had already delivered his head by the time I reached the triage desk at A&E!) Not sure I want to have to deal with the same sort of scared panic as last time.

iris66 · 15/03/2007 09:32

morning all hope you're all feeling bright & breezy today (iris continues chanting to self... hmmmm...not nauseous, hmmmm...not nauseous, hmmmm...not nauseous, hmmmm...not nauseous.......)

Jonze - wow, quick labour!! I take it you've not been in the UK for long then. Where are you from?
re the home birth - I'd talk to your midwife when you see her for your booking appointment (Dr will notify her when you go to tell him you're pg). It's your right to have a home birth if you want one but of course unplanned is another matter!! A friend of mine was unexpectedly too late for hospital recently so just called 999 for an ambulance. They notified the midwives who arrived just after the ambulance & in time for delivery (a perfect baby boy and everything was fine)

xxsummerxx - congratulations and welcome to the thread

Just noticed that some of you are going to your GP to have pg confirmed. Is it a regional thing? I've always just gone in to the Dr(without even needing to brandish my clearblue)& said "I'm pg" and he/she seemed ok to start the ball rolling with telling the MW etc.

SparkyGothKat - how are you feeling today lovely?

xxsummerxx · 15/03/2007 10:25

Good morning Ladies,

Iris66:- When I found out I was expecting my 2nd son I just went to the nurse, she did a pg test there and then to confirm it, I have since moved house and doctor, rang the docs surgery to get appt with nurse, explained why and the receptionist said that I have to see the doc to have it confirmed. Different practises must do it different ways.

I'm not really fussed what way they decide to do things, as long as this pg goes as smoothly as my other 2 I'll be more than happy.

My boys were quite big though, so not looking forward to delivering an even bigger bubba!!!!

SparklyGothKat · 15/03/2007 10:47

Feeling ok, no sick today, feeling grotty though. People keep telling me that I look great, but I feel poo. Feeling fat already (normally a size 8-10) weighed myself this morning and have already put on 3/4 of a pound, I get the feeling that this pregancy is gonna be a killer. Scan on monday, which I am looking forward to.

ladydurham · 15/03/2007 13:08

Hello ladies,
I'm a newbie to this site and this thread - hope you don't mind me joining? I found out a couple of weeks ago i'm expecting my second child 9th Nov. Already have a ds 2yrs 10 months, can't wait to have number 2 as a litlle buddy for him. Anyone even more excited this time round than last time?

Jonze · 15/03/2007 19:29

I'm from America, and have been here since 2002. I went private the first time because that is closest to the American system. This time, I'm just going to go NHS and pocket the money (hey, my OB wasn't even at the birth last time). I am going to ask my dad (who is an OB) to come 2 weeks before my due date....just in case I don't make it quickly to the hospital.

I am more excited this time around. I was too anxious the first time, and was too eager for DS to move on to the next stage too really enjoy his babyhood. I plan an being a bit more relaxed this time, and savour each stage.

iris66 · 15/03/2007 19:52

Jonze - I never quite understood the American system of having consultants as standard during pg (but then I loved my midwives) different strokes and all that I suppose. It'll be lovely to have your dad there though I'll bet (very comforting with his professional knowledge too).
I was more laid back second time around though LO wasn't - his big sister slept through very early but he still takes nearly an hour to settle and daytime naps are hit and miss at 14 mths!!! - I'm praying that No.3 will just chill (and praying even more that it's only No.3 and not 3 & 4! - I'm sooo hormonal and nauseous that I'm paranoid it's twins).

ladydurham - hi - and welcome to the madhouse (or is that just me!) - please forgive my gabbling - hormones (see above)

DH is having the pleasure of doing the extended bedtime routine for DS tonight so I can relax a bit (bless him - he's very supportive - just wish he was home more often sigh) going to enjoy it whilst it lasts and watch some TV. night all x

SparklyGothKat · 15/03/2007 21:01

Lol Iris, I am worried that this could be 4&5!! because I feel so tired, sick and rough, which I never had any of my previous pregnancies. And after the GP said it could be twins because of the MS and tireness, well that freaked me a bit more. I will find out on monday anyway

peanutbutter · 16/03/2007 10:51

is anyone around? i think i'm losing this baby. had red staining on my underwear this morning and it's turned into heavy bleeding. I don't feel pregnant any more. i can't stop crying. have rung GP. receptionist was very nice ( i could hardly talk on the phone because of crying) and offered me an appointment for this afternoon but agreed with me that the doctor will probably just advise me to wait and see for now. I'd rather do that at home and take another test on sunday. the thought of doing that again and it being negative is unbearable. i don't feel pregnant any more though. no sickness, no heavy feeling in my stomach. just normal apart from a blinding headache now . i'm sure that's the end of this pregnancy.

dh is away at an exhibition/show in Birmingham with his friend til gone tea time. I'm not going to spoil it by telling him when all he could do is come home and be miserable and impotent alongside me.

SparklyGothKat · 16/03/2007 11:07

oh PB, I'm here. Hope you are ok. Having lost 2 babies myself, I know what you are going through.
Shout, scream, cry do what you have to do.

YummyMummy34 · 16/03/2007 11:10

Peanut, just read your message and didn't want to leave it unanswered. So sorry to hear what you are going through - unfortunately, I've been there too and know exactly what you are feeling right now. I blubbed down the phone to receptionists as well (think they are used to it).

The waiting and not knowing is the worst thing. Take it easy until your appt with the dr.

I understand how you feel about not telling your DP. I know there is nothing physically he can do but he may want to know - so he can be there for you.

Take care.

peanutbutter · 16/03/2007 11:10

i just can't stop crying Sparkly. I have to see my dad in an hour or so and my parents don't know anything because I was going to tell them on Mother's day. i'm going to buy a test when i'm out but i'm worried that if it shows pregnant then that might be just because there's still hormones in my system although the pregnancy has ended. i don't know what to do

SparklyGothKat · 16/03/2007 11:12

It can take a few weeks for the hormones to disappear, so it could say you are still pregnant. How many weeks are you?? Is there an EPU near you that can see you?

peanutbutter · 16/03/2007 11:15

thanks for the kind words Yummy.

I'm only just 6 weeks. We do have an EPU at my local hospital and my GP has Family Planning clinic on Monday so i'm thinking the best thing may be just to wait to be seen there on Monday night and then ask to be referred to the EPU.

SparklyGothKat · 16/03/2007 11:16

phone the GP and get that appointment and get a referal to the EPU, they will scan you and check to see if the pregnancy has ended

xxsummerxx · 16/03/2007 11:18

Hi Peanutbutter,

I hope everything turns out ok for you and the baby. I have never had a miscarriage so cant even imagine what you are going through.

Sending this with lots of love and a huge hug!!!!!

peanutbutter · 16/03/2007 11:19

i'll ring them back and see. i have to go now, thanks for kind words and advice. i'll post when we're back later this afternoon.

SparklyGothKat · 16/03/2007 11:26

Sorry to ask this when PB is going through what she is atm, but why can't I eat anything without gagging and then not being able to finish my food.?
