New thread for the lovely ladies due in April 2017. Suddenly there's only 3 months to go! And the thread has already welcomed two special, early arrivals.

Please continue chatting here!

Marmite a lot of mine are lower, midwife says it's just where she is, and I also have an anterior placenta which might explain it further Smile

marmitecheesetoast · 16/01/2017 15:52

Thanks Pink yeah I haven't felt anything higher up at all yet. If I remember from my notes correctly I also have an anterior placenta! So maybe that does explain it a bit. I have to have a placenta location scan at 32 weeks as at the 20 week scan the placenta was partially covering the cervix. Really hope it's moved by then...

Cath3081 · 16/01/2017 16:13

Pink and Marmite - anterior placenta here too! I only feel kicks low down too (below my bellybutton and to the left).

I keep hoping for more definite kicks and very jealous of the ladies who can actually see their bump wriggle and move.

TopKittyKat · 16/01/2017 16:35

Another one with an anterior placenta.
I have felt movement higher up but it hasn't been as strong so I assumed it was from hands/elbows. I'm definitely still feeling big kicks below the belly button, so I think she's still head up.

I also haven't even thought about my hospital bag. Like marmite we're still getting our house sorted. We still need the plumbers in to do a few jobs, DH needs to finish plastering baby's room, then we need to paint. Finally then we can order furniture (I've picked it but am holding off ordering until the work is done as delivery is quick).

I hope she doesn't come early!

I've told work that I will work up until 24th March and am due 9 April.

marmitecheesetoast · 16/01/2017 17:01

Ok that's reassuring thanks cath and kittycat! I can see my bump move with kicks cath but all around tummy button level.

That makes me feel better too kittykat, it's so overwhelming when you've got a load of work happening in your house isn't it?! I can't believe we've got three rooms to take apart, put together differently and decorate after builder finishes Confused have you got anyone who can help with the painting? We've roped my parents in to come and stay and help with decorating one weekend!

think I'll try and schedule in a shopping trip in the next few weeks to start trying to pick up stuff for hospital bag

I've vaguely started looking at furniture, where have you picked yours out from? And where has anyone else go theirs from?

Planning on looking at mothercare, mamas &a papas, John Lewis, Ikea... think that's all the obvious places where you can actually go in and see nursery furniture in a shop?

jpeg28 · 16/01/2017 17:11

Another anterior placenta here too! All movement is right down low at the moment and has been to the right hand side too.

In terms of furniture.. I'm thinking of an Ikea cot and some sort of slim drawer unit as I have no space at all!! I really don't want to spend a fortune, would rather get a second hand cot but my OH is really funny about it!

petiteange28 · 16/01/2017 17:20

JPeg relieved to know it's not just me that is pushing it. Just hope my waters don't break on the way to work or something - that would be a little awkward.

jpeg28 · 16/01/2017 17:31

I thought that too petite... would be embarrassing if I go into labour while I'm teaching!! I'm just going to see how I feel. If I nee to go early then I will but I'll have that aim in my head! Some people tell me I'm mad, others say that have been teaching the day before their due date!!

purpleviolet1 · 16/01/2017 17:57

Petite- no right or wrong really but I'm
29+3 now and my cousin had both her babies by 29 weeks. She wasn't prepared at all for the first and she said she feels robbed of the experience so I thought I would chip away at it!

We aren't setting the room up until about 36 weeks as stuff is getting delivered then. Furniture from mamas and papas.

I'm planning to finish 36 weeks. Was going to finish at 38 weeks initially but I'm consultant led and he recommended earlier so I'm not exhausted by the time the baby arrives (I have had major surgery for pancreatic cancer and 2 miscarriages). Just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes though so I think they may not let me go past 38 weeks anyway. Will find out more next week.

XxBecxX · 16/01/2017 18:07

Like I've probably said ladies, it's never to early to get your own bag ready for hospital.
I have one for myself and a separate one for the baby, mine I do between 25-30weeks and the babies at about 36.
Especially if your a first time mum it's really easy sometimes to have an early false labour or a trip into hospital for a water infection etc always handy if you have got a bag of your bits and pieces ready to hand.
I personally don't know how some ladies have everything in one bag, by the time you've got your towels and dressing gowns etc in there's not much room for baby bits.
More is more when it comes to getting the little ones bag ready, you need a towel in case you'd like them to show you how to bathe the baby plus his first outfit, then spares, extra hats and mits, muslins, socks, shawl, toiletries, going home outfit, nappies etc apparently now my hospital request you bring in your own ready made baby bottles if your formula feeding aswell!

With regards to movements I've too got an anterior placenta, first time for me and it has definetly masked a lot of his movements but now he's a good size 26+wks I feel all sorts all over depending on where I'm he gets himself.
As it's still quite early he hasn't settled head down yet and some days he lays right across me and when he stretches I feel him in both sides at the same time! Feels very unusual, today it felt like he was spring boarding off my bladder and jumping as I felt very deep down movement then top punches high up lol
Xxx

XxBecxX · 16/01/2017 18:10

Oh purple what a pain, what have they said you will have to do to cope with the GD? xxx

abeandhalo · 16/01/2017 20:23

Mine has gone head down already so I'm getting head butts to my bladder, punches below my belly button and kicks to the ribs! I'm becoming used to the idea that I'm clearly giving birth to a dancing octopus rather than a human baby, he is on the go all day every day! Thankfully not at night though.

I didn't hear from my midwife today re glucose results I'm hoping all is OK. Sorry to hear your news purpleviolet hope it's all manageable for you.

purpleviolet1 · 16/01/2017 20:57

Got a group discussion tomorrow on how to manage it and seeing the diabetes consultant next week!

Umblubblub · 16/01/2017 21:03

Hello,

Can I join you? I've just discovered this thread! I'm 28 weeks tomorrow with #2 and I'm having another boy. I'm 39, DS1 is 5 and we live in Surrey.
Hope your pregnancies are all going smoothly, and congrats to the two of you with lovely babies already! X

XxBecxX · 16/01/2017 22:20

lol abe x

Seems very informal purple? A group discussion lol
Have they given your finger pricked yet, I hated that lol it doesn't really hurt it's just the idea of it happening made me eek a bit, a good trick was to wash your hands in nice warm water for at least a minute before you do it so that your hands are nice and warm and full of blood, if your try to prick a cold finger it's painful and doesn't bleed very well.
Wish I had more useful advice for you my lovely xx

Welcome umblub and congrats! I'm in Surrey too 😃 Xx

peanut2017 · 16/01/2017 22:33

Wow ladies need to get the finger out and think about what I need for the hospital bag Smile Anyone any ideas of a bag to fit everything?

We are starting to think of doing up the room. What furniture are you getting? We have only one spare, double sized bedroom but thinking of keeping the bed,

HLBug · 16/01/2017 22:33

Hello, can I join in too?
Due 22nd April with second baby. First, DS, will be 3 on 25th April...and no, we don't have any special occasions in August!
I'm booked in for a section this time due to stressful first birth - has anyone been through a section before? Any top tips?

peanut2017 · 16/01/2017 22:35

Purple sorry to hear that. Do they check everyone for it? Doctors appointment this Wednesday so must ask him. You've been through the mill you poor thing!

HLBug · 16/01/2017 22:36

Re hospital bags I took 3 (!) in with me for birth of DS! A labour bag (which didn't get touched as I had a speedy birth with no drugs and no DH present!), a ward bag and a baby bag. The midwifes must've thought I was crazy...but I had absolutely everything I could possibly have needed!

MyGreenSofa · 17/01/2017 07:10

Got my GTT this morning, ugh! Sad

purpleviolet1 · 17/01/2017 08:22

In Scotland they only check if you are at risk of diabetes, I got checked because I only have about 20% of my pancreas now And I'm at higher risk of becoming diabetic regardless of pregnancy , and ofcourse in pregnancy risk increases anyway. Yes xxbec! An 'education class' today and consultant appt is next Tuesday. Apparently you have to do the education class so she just gave me the details of the first one available.

I think I'll have 2 or 3 bags too! Would leave the baby and my ward bag in the car I imagine unless things had progressed quite a bit. First time baby here so doubt it'll be a quick thing....better to have too much than not enough?? I'm usually a light packer but being first baby I have no idea realistically how the experience will go. Plan to take extras and leave in the car just in case, and I'm going to stay with my parents afterwards so it'll just come there with me anyway.

PinkUnicorn1990 · 17/01/2017 08:33

Purple I have a small case! Blush figured one bigger bag for me would be easier as I am quite forgetful and would more than likely leave bags behind! Baby has her changing bag. Probably way over packed but at least prepared!

ChatEnOeuf · 17/01/2017 08:52

I have two bags - one for me and one for baby. Expecting to be in for a week or so, but it still seems like loads to pack. My bad is basically done except the everyday essentials like phone charger and purse. Still haven't bought enough tiny baby clothes...must get myself organised soon otherwise it'll be drowning in newborn sizes.

XxBecxX · 17/01/2017 10:04

I got myself this nice wheelie one from amazon, and I've ordered a nice custom pram set for the baby and a matching hospital bag so that's what I'll use for his bits.
I always leave the baby's bag in the car until it's imminent arrival time then someone dashes out to get it lol
I've got my GTT 2nd of Feb purple, I've been experiencing massive thirst so I've got a feeling mine will be positive too!

Good luck with the GTT sofa x

Chat if you search eBay for prem clothes they are for about 5-6lb and you can get the beat choice and value, should be perfect for the first month then I reckon bubs will be in newborn xx

I'm the same as you HBug all my other 5 kids and my hubby have their birthdays in the same 4 weeks of the year lol
This baby was planned to be born around my birthday for a change lol

April 2017 # 6 - Third trimester is here!
MrsBac83 · 17/01/2017 10:15

Morning ladies

How many nighties/pj's are you taking to hospital?
I'm thinking cheap nightie to actually birth in - this will obviously get mucky so won't want to keep it on for long after! So another nightie to change into when I can get cleaned up and a pair of pj's to wear that I actually don't mind visitors seeing me in! But then 3 sets of nightwear seems excessive!!

First world problems and all that!! Grin
