It's all worry one way or the other isn't it - if they tell you it's small then that's worry, but I must admit to spending far too long on Sunday night staring down at my bump and thinking "and all that, is coming out of there"

mammyjo · 21/02/2007 13:24

I know the feeling. After I had ds I was amazed that something that big had been living inside my belly!!

nuttygirl · 21/02/2007 13:40

Hi all,

EllieK - Happy birthday

Char - congrats on passing exam

CD - good luck for ddrive to farm...you'll be fine!

Sorry to all those with ill LOs.

It wasn't me asking about the birth plans...in fact I did mine this morning with mw. Not much detail on there cos I don't really have many preferences, just stuff like DH to cut cord, want skin-to-skin contact asap, breastfeeding, in case of c-section I want stitches not staples. Don't think it's really complete yet as not meant to be doing it til next mw appointment but wanted some stuff on there just in case LO decides to follow in DHs footste4ps and be early!

Got a student mw today (with other mw observing). Measurement a little under but mw said it was fine. Thinks it's head down now (I'm not totally convinced and was a bit surprised the other mw didn't check if she was right) but it's hard to tell cos she's been swirling about quite a lot and bump did look a bit different yesterday evening. Finger crossed! bp was a bit higher than normal but apparently nothing to worry about...probably didn't help DH told me about a nasty email he got from that ebay seller just before the appointment.

1becomes3 · 21/02/2007 15:54

Wow how good are you lot with your birth plans, I never did one with DD, it would have all gone out the window anyway, and the only thing I want for the DT's is for them to get them out of me.
A good plan I thinks

Elliek- happy birthday hope you have a great day.

char- welldone on passing your exam, must feel great.

AngeG- sorry to hear you having a rough time with your SPD.

Sospl-I feel for you with your cold, hope it doesn't get any worse.

Bramshott (and anyone else)the latest with the house is that the meeting that DH was supposed to have with the people selling it to us didn't go ahead as they decided to go off to switzerland (didn't even tell him)
I am not to stressed about it at the moment as it doesn't look to me as if it is going to happen, at least not as soon as DH was thinking.
I have said that nothing is going ahead until both DH and I can meet with the people selling the house and we can get everthing in writing, but who knows when that will happen so I'm just concentrating on getting through the rest of this pg.

eca · 21/02/2007 15:57

hey lovlies

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ellie! Hope you're having a lovely day and getting spoilt!

of new car SOSPL! We've got a while to wait for ours!

Congrats Char on passing! Hurrah!

Good luck CD with all teh party prep! Sounds exhausting!

Hi to everyone else. Glad to here most of you had better nights last night. Phew.

I had pregnancy yoga this morning. Was bliss, really enjoyed it.

Have got half cooked curry downstairs that I need to go and finish, but am feeling flakey and mellow after yoga and can't be bothered!!!

runnyhabbit · 21/02/2007 16:01

Afternoon all

Just a quickie because I am knackered. Sleeping better at night, but as ds is with his nana all day today, I'm going to take advantage of peace and quiet.

at nursery costs. I drop ds off at 7.30am, pick him up at 1pm, has breakfast, snack and lunch (and nappies) and it costs £16.50 per morning. I used to think it was pricey, but after hearing what everyone else pays, I'm counting my blessings.

Happy Birthday Ellie x

I've got dh on the ipod mission for labour too started writing a list of all my favourite "feel good" songs, and think he's secretly chuffed at doing something important

As for Cbeebies - I couldn't function without it for the past few weeks Cannot stand Me Too either! Although rather partial to Doodle Do and Boogie Beebies (think it has more to do with the presenters )

Take care all

xx

eca · 21/02/2007 16:04

lol at your birthpaln 1b3! Sounds like a good one!

I've not written one as such (but might) but dh and I have chatted a lot about it and what I want. He is well briefed on things like not wanting an episiotomy unless absolutely unavoidable, wanting to be able to move around lots, not really wanting pethadine (unless I beg for it!) and def wanting to avoid epidural (can't have that at home anyway). For some reason I don't want dh to cut the cord. Is that wierd??? We chatted about it last night, and I kind of felt sad about it and it being the start of baby's journey as a individual etc etc and dh quickly said he'd rather not if I would potentially hold it against him! Ok, writing this I think I am a bit wierd and I can only blame it on wierd pregnancy hormones and thoughts!!

Eddas · 21/02/2007 16:19

Happy birthday Ellie

Hello to everyone else

Been having some strong downwards feelings today sure it doesn't mean anything but don't remember getting them with dd. Told dh and he's now thinking about labour being imminent(sp?). Might spur him into getting my labour bag out of the loft

I treated myself to some nice stretchmark cream this time round(with dd used mothercares own) and it's given me a bloomin rash which is nice and itchy! Wondering why I bothered now!!!

Hope everyone else is well

1becomes3 · 21/02/2007 16:38

I don't think any of us already mum's should be feeling bad for getting our tot's stuck into a bit of cbeebies, UNLESS it is the tellietubbies
I HATE THE TELLIETUBBIES!!!!!
My Dd loves them but I can't stand her watching it, she can't talk as it is I don't want her learning from those demented things!
I mean really who the the hell came up with those "THINGS" the whole program is useless and annoying, at least Granny murray with all her annoying qualities can hold a conversation, and she isn't naughty when it comes to saying good bye!

OK couple of deep breath's I think are in order here.

Sorry about that but I really do hate the tellietubbies with a passion, Rant over

Eddas · 21/02/2007 17:02

1b3(made sure i got that right this time!!!) totally agree. dd has a thing for them. I made a vow to not allow it whilst pg but it was the first programme she watched and got so excited it was really cute. Won't let her watch it unless i absolutely have to now.

Her latest thing is her Mary Poppins dvd. She keeps singing all the songs, it's so cute!!!

Emmymummy · 21/02/2007 17:04

LOL 1B3 - I hate the Tellietubbies with a passion too. Mind you, nothing is worse than the Tweenies with their stupid orange faces, squeeky voices, hideous singing, agggggg! My hatred of them has even flowed over into real life - my next door neighbour's father sounds exactly like the grandad character off the Tweenies, and if I ever hear him in the back garden when he's visiting I have to go indoors as I cannot stand it. Thank goodness Em has now moved onto CBBC, and even gets excited about Newsround! There's gonna be fights when the new bub wants to watch the telly I can forsee!

Happy Birthday EllieK- hope you're being well looked after.

Em seems to be pretty much OK today. She has a slight ear infection so is on antibiotics, but was up at 06.30am, playing her music and singing, so there can't be too much wrong with her . She went back to school today and enjoyed her day.

She came with me to see the MW today too. Everything is fine with me, healthy BP, good levels of iron in the blood, measuring exactly right for dates etc. BUT baby is oblique & breach still - MW thinks it may be as I had a low lying placenta at my last scan and it if hasn't moved the baby is unable to swing herself round to head down. She says this may explain all the kicking & movements I'm getting simulataneously on both sides of my tummy - she's trying to move down but can't. Am gutted as if the placenta is low I'll have to have a c-section which I really don't want. Have another scan in a couple of weeks to confirm the position of the placenta, but feeling a bit strange as a section had never come into my calculations before.

liath · 21/02/2007 17:59

Emmy, will keep my fingers crossed for that scan - what a bummer it would be if you had to have a section but at least you'd find out in advance I suppose.

The kenwood chef arrived today so road tested it by making an orange drizzle cake - slurp. Dd in a funny mood - offered her cake and she said "no" and at lunch time I'd made her fish cakes & wedges and it all got spat out. Ungrateful child but all the more cake for me & DH . DH has just reminded me it's our anniversary of when we started going out today (or to be more precised the anniversary of a very drunken snog on a nightclub floor - sixteen years ago!!!!). I'd just turned 19.....so young!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 21/02/2007 18:21

Hi all.

Lots of posts to catch up on, and I cannot remember a ruddy thing.

Charnbump, congrats on the exam result - fab news for you.

CD, hope the trip to the farm was a success.

Emmymummy, I am really sorry to hear you might have to go for a section. My placenta was low with Becky, but at week 36 I thnk it was, I was scanned again and it had moved sufficiently to go for a VB.

God, my head has turned to mush.

Picked up the car - HURRAH! I keep wanting to go out in it and feel very possessive over it. Went to the park this afternoon and B got really muddy. My seats and floor are filthy already and I am summoning up the energy to go and clean them. She also picked up a stick (rather dog- like behaviour!) and has dropped bits if it everywhere. I am going out with the dustbuster in a minute!

Have given up on the chair on ebay. It is up to 78 GBP and there are still 3 days to go. Think I will just get something from Ikea.

B has been great today. She has been really helpful, putting away the shopping bless her. Let's hope it continues. I feel so ropy that I can't see how I am going to manage for the next 9.5 weeks!

Anyway, hope everyone is ok. Apologies to those I haven't mentioned - you are in my thoughts!!

maveta · 21/02/2007 18:38

Hi all, feel totally wiped out today. Suddenly feel like bump has risen a bit again and feel really big and uncomfortable sitting at work and on the train. Feels like there´s nowhere for my ribs to go! Baby feels bigger today too.. going to mum´s tonight so dh can watch the footie. Not overly thrilled you can imagine but I know she has a load of kit kats in the fridge..every cloud has a silver lining. Though right now I could go straight to bed...

Hope your placenta and baby sort themselves out by the next scan Emmymummy! good luck.

Liath - orange drizzle cake sounds YUM! Hard to make?

SOSPL - lovely to have that new car feeling, isn´t it. And how quickly that desire to keep it spotless fades... enjoy the cleaning..

eca · 21/02/2007 18:49

arrr, emmymummy, poor little bean trying to wriggle round. I'm getting the movements and kicks on both top and bottom of bump at the same time ( and baby breech) so am wondering if mine's having similar prob. Hope that your scan shows you can go for a VB.

Liath - cake sounds yummy! Wish we could pass it round!! Sometimes virtual friendships are just no good! And big ARRR to dh remembering your getting together anniversary!

SOSPL - glad to hear the car is so satisfying!

Well, curry is cooked and yum! Just waiting for dh to come home and see if he likes it!

eca · 21/02/2007 19:00

sorry to hear bump is feeling big and uncomfortable today maveta. I think we're all getting a bit like that now. Hugs to you, hope the kitkats hit the spot. Now I'm thinking where can I get my hands on kitkats, that or the twix someone else mentioned earlier... !!

Emmymummy · 21/02/2007 19:26

Mmmmmmmmmm orange drizzle cake......kit kats...mmmmmmmmm. Have hidden a large Toblerone upstairs, might be a good time to go and get it!

Thanks for comments about possible c-sect. I was thinking poor little bean too Eca, can't be much fun struggling around in there and being all squashed up.

SOSPL - how long til you give up trying to keep the new car clean? A bit of projectile vomiting over the next few months should put an end to that . (I'm only saying that as I'm !)

Bugmum · 21/02/2007 19:56

Hi All,
Have been reading but not really posting recently, as have felt a bit low. Nothing major, just the usual feeling huge (getting the comments), SPD, niggly tooth, concerned about not having anything much ready, concerned about DS in relation to the baby, blah blah. Fed up with work, too; am only p/t but that's enough and am not having long enough off (but that's another, boring, story).

Did have one piece of good news: the baby was transverse, but saw MW today and she said he is now head down, so we should be able to go for a VBAC. Emmymummy - Don't give up on a change of position just yet awhile!

Hope the various confectionary is cheering everybody up; I don't have much in, but I do have some Ben&Jerry's Cherry Garcia frozen yoghurt, which is very good and has some choc pieces in it. Oh, the excitement

oooggs · 21/02/2007 20:08

Just popping in as have been in hospital twice at the weekend. Fiday night midwife sent me in with abdo pains through coughing, twins fine so they sorted me out and sent me home Saturday morning.

On Saturday night I was watching dh decorating the nursery and bent dow to pick something up and felf my back crack. Went to bed but on Sunday felt terrible, tried everything, but but 8pm I was climbing the walls in agony. Dr came out and sent me to hospital in an emergency ambulance using gas and air. On labour ward at hospital I had diamorphine (it was all worse than labour with ds) eventually calmed down and transferred to a ward. With loads of drugs, pain killers and a good nights sleep I came home on Monday lunchtime.

Have been for a scan and to see the consultant today and the twins are currently 5lb each and are both head down, but no further action to be taken and I could go full term (am 33 weeks tomorrow) I WILL NOT BE GOING FULL TERM IF I HAVE TO TAKE THEM OUT MYSELF

Sorry for going on but just to let you know I am still about. Hope everyone is well xx

eca · 21/02/2007 20:22

hi bugmum, sorry to hear you've been feeling low. Sounds like there's lots on your mind. It's easy to run things round your head and they all end up stressing you out! I know I do that loads. Good news on baby turning though xx

oggs ! Glad you are ok, sounds scary. And glad the twins are ok too. xx Obviously watching dh do the nursery was far too taxing for you and you need to take it easy!

opinionsrus · 21/02/2007 20:27

Just popping in the say HI to all the pregnant ladies. I can hardly get to the keyboard anymore.

Haven't been on for a while as I find it quite hard to keep up what with one thing or another in addition to an extremely demanding and tiring 3 year old.

I hope everyone is well and getting those birth plans in order!! On the gaviscon from -aniseed beats mint any day - another tip if you get prescs ask for the gaviscon advance as it beats hand down the normal crappy one which is like water. Anyway thats it for me..if I don't make it back on

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Katy44 · 21/02/2007 20:44

Hello everyone,
Bugmum, glad to hear you can go for a VBAC. When do you finish work?
oogs, your trips to hospital must have been scary, glad you and the twins are OK.
flumpootle, how did the viewing go the other day (can't remember when it was but you had to leave quickly to tidy)
I'm starting to feel huge and heavy and a bit uncomfortable at times. I have 3 pairs of maternity trousers, one doesn't fit at all, one still fits and the others are getting a bit tight. I've got 8 weeks to go!!
I'm lucky really compared to a lot of people, this the worst I've got is a severe case of work-itis - roll on the end of March!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 21/02/2007 21:13

Hiya,

emmymummy, eughhh to the projectile vomiting. Becky wasn't a sicky baby at all, so am hoping for the same this time. I know my fanatical car cleaning won't last, but I think it is just part of me "nesting" in general! Although my nesting doesn't seem to stretch to the ruddy great load of ironing that needs doing. I hate it!

Maveta, sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low. I think we all seem to be getting to this stage.

Oogs, how frightening for you pet. I am so glad that you and the twins are ok.

Opinionsrus, welcome back, even if for short time.

eca, hope the curry went down well.

Bugmum, sorry too to hear that you are feeling a bit down. Hugs to you.

Well, it could be a disturbed night again, as Becky has decided she wants to try going without pull-up tonight - boo hiss! We did stick on a pull up after her bath and she made no comment, but then she went for a wee before bed and had a paddy! Oh well, I cold be proved wrong.

Baby is moving manically as usual, and I can only think is lying transverse as there are lumps and bumps everywhere. I am getting some really sharp tweaky pains when it moves - really takes my breath away.

Anyway, I must do some ironing as we will be going to work/school bol**ck naked tomorrow otherwise - not a pretty sight!

Bugmum · 21/02/2007 21:42

Katy I finish part of my job on 16th March and part on 1st April (due 22nd April), but then I go back to part of it on 1st July (the online part, not the out of the house part, which I return to in October). It will be okay, but I'm a fool for having agreed, I think. I am soooooo glad I don't work full time! Although with DS, it sometimes feels like it

I think with my MW, what bugs me is that she is really gung-ho about the VBAC - which is good - but without addressing any of my concerns; she makes me feel as though I can't even discuss them. Also, she can never remember the most basic things about me - for example, she never remembers that I have SPD - which doesn't fill me with great confidence. But really, as SOSPL said, I think we are many of us feeling a bit low, uncomfy, fat, and slightly panicky - so it probably has to do with this point in the pregnancy as much as anything.

WestCountryLass · 21/02/2007 22:25

Thank God for my DD! She helped me put my socks on today! For some reason I could not reach my feet today I can remember standing on one leg and putting socks on by bending my knee behind me with DS (DD it was summer so not an issue) but this time I can't bend my knees back as get shooting sciatic pain down my legs, baby is very low and pressing on everything - have very bulbous varicous vein in groin that DH has named Vera as he says it winks at him!

I am so not a yummy Mummy!

I checked my Babyzone calendar today for the first time in ages and it came as a shock to me to see I have 38 days left, where has the time gone?????
