Easter is 6th-9th April, i'm due Easter Monday, trust me to choose a bank holiday!

Morning.
Rough night here, too. Fell asleep draped over my birthing ball yesterday evening (much to DH's amusement), woke up with numb knees but then couldn't get off to sleep at all when I went to bed - grrr. It makes such a difference to the day whether I get a good sleep.

Am very impressed with all this bag packing etc. I got some more sandys the other day so there are nappies everywhere!

Runny - are you rhesus negative? I am & have blood tests for antibodies.

Off to the midwives so we'll see whether all those rude remarks about the bump size were justified or not. Must remember to get my matB or whatever it is form and sort out paperwork for mat leave. Am going to work till 30th March as it's only one day a week so hopefully should be OK (although the bump size comments by then may have driven me to violence...).

muminabigtumi · 20/02/2007 08:22

Just posted this on the old thread before I realised there was this one with 50 odd messages on it! YIKES

Just bobbing in to say Hi before I go and catch up with you all!
I read some yesterday but had no energy to post and now can't remember a great deal - although EllieK - I agree with you re Happy Feet - it was a BIG dissapointment!

Hope everyone is feeling ok - I am a bit brighter was up again last night with James three times - I really wish I knew what was causing him to wake up - it is just strange when he has slept through for 2 and a half years that he is waking up now....of course I start worrying that it is cos he knows baby is coming etc...I'm trying to see it as a positive in that I am getting quite used tothe broken sleep now so it may help me alot when baby comes!

Had one of those busy days yesterday where you don't do anything exciting butyou are busy non stop food shopping, cleaning bathrooms, working, picking up James from nursery etc so last night I had a long soak in the bath and watched my tummy wriggling around and had an early night.

I am off today and it looks like it may be ok weather wise so am going to take James to soft play this morning and then this afternoon get into the garden and do some planting in pots - James can have his own to water!
Right off to see what you have all been up to
x

Emmymummy · 20/02/2007 08:38

Oh good, I'm not the only insane one to be plugging on with work . Maveta, I'm due 25th April (same as you I think?). Will try to squeeze in a siesta this afternoon, might have to be in the car if we do make it buggy shopping. Have just been reading some horror stories on Mumsnet about Two Left Feet, but that was their on-line ordering service, so hopefully going to their shop can't result in the same problems (please no).

Liath - LOL at you falling asleep on your ball (sorry!), but Grrr at not being able to sleep in bed. What is it with these babies and their sleeping vibes?

MIABT - lucky you having nice weather. It's pants here and I have lots of duvets & bed-linen to get dry somehow. House is starting to resemble a laundry and we have our financial advisor (ooooo get me!) arriving shortly. He's gonna think I'm running a washing business as a sideline!

muminabigtumi · 20/02/2007 08:41

WO - I SO NEARLY did the same as you yesterday when I saw my Pre Preg jeans in the wardrobe but I manage not to - poor you - we will all be in the same boat hun - don't tortue yourself!!

SOSPL - hope the tum is bit better this morning!!

Love the thread title - I am firmly in the minty camp!!! Although I don't think I will ever be able to use Gaviscon again.....

LMAO at notquitecockney!

Maveta - glad your meal was good at the weekend! How's your cats eye now?

Welcome MMK! I'm another one who is fairly organised and has most of my hospital bag packed.

Runny - your boss sounds like a ...twerp - there is no way he can pressure you to come back early...you are entitled to 9 months and 9 months you shall have - RAAAH! x

Pesha -glad you are well honey - nice to hear from you.

1b3 - you must get the Miracles In The Womb off Weeonion (so organised!!) as it was amazing - I was thinking of you when I was watching it!

Laith - your birthing ball sleep reminds me of the first time I had a drink after James was born...I fell asleep face down in a beanbag!!! Lovley Phil took a picture as well just to humiliate me...must see if I can find it.

\link[http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p54/muminamini/Mummypissed.jpg\mummypis*ed}

right - James is having a hissy fit so best get off and make him some rabbit toast _he will only eat toast at the moment is cut out in a pastry cutter.....)

muminabigtumi · 20/02/2007 08:43

RAAAHH!!!

I give up if it doesn't work this time I'll put it on my profile

muminabigtumi · 20/02/2007 08:51

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 20/02/2007 08:52

oops! you let him keep photographic evidence MIABT? hope you have similar to embarrass him with!

OP posts:
weeonion · 20/02/2007 08:56

miabt - lol, lol ,lol at pic. looks like a good night? and just who is the charming chappy with you if phil took the pic??????

its a bright sunny morning here - scotland doesnt tend to getthat many of them so they're noticeable when they do arrive! been up since 4.30am but really couldnt face my commute so sitting here in thermals and getting work done?? aye right - more like looking up 2 left feet, checking on here and watching this belly undulate!)

sorry the rest of you aint sleeping too well. it is really hard when it sets the tone for the rest of the day! siestas sound good!

i donr want to have come across as miss prissy organised. i am a shopaholic and the bbay has given me the excuse to buy everything early and pretend that it is to be prepared. all a ruse believe me ("honestly dp i DO need 3 bags for hospital and they MUST all match along" "honestly dp - it is recommended that you buy one of every possble kind of nappy to make sure you find the one that suits us best")

ok - off to buy a stcky cake and some fresh rolls. i predict a day of carbs ahead - gigantic hips be damned!!!

mammyjo · 20/02/2007 09:25

Morning all. Not a good night of sleep for me either, seem to go through phases where I sleep really well for a few nights then really badly. I definitely notice my mood is different with ds depending on how well I slept too!

EM, hope Emily is better today and you get your shopping done.

I am watching a dutailier chair on ebay. Cant remember who said they got one but now I want one! Would have to drive a fair distance to get it but not bothered about that as it comes with the stool too. Def could not afford a new version. We shall see....

WO, I want sticky cake too! Have only eaten a few grapes this morning so far.

Runny, hope you are doing ok with dh away. Your boss is mad if he thinks you will just give up your mat leave. Only a man would make a comment like that!

Bramshott · 20/02/2007 09:49

Morning girls. Argghh so many messages and no brain to process them!!

Glad everyone seems to be doing okay, and great to see you back again Pesha! Perhaps we could all turn up in Cardiff and confront Runnyhabbit's boss with a surge of hormonal irateness?! "No really - you have the lacerated nether-regions; cracked nipples; sleepless nights; sibling rivalry; sagging tummy etc - I'll just come into work" . . . Does he not realise you'll need 9 months off!!

I've still got 6 more weeks of work too Emmymummy. Am planning to keep going till the end of March if I can. Mind you, if this one were to come at exactly the same gestation as DD, I'd be going into labour tonight - wierd thought!! It's all uncharted territory from now on! I have a mammoth to do list and have to do handover notes for the various different people who are covering my projects and am finding it very stressful to not really know if I have 6 weeks to do it all in, or maybe only 4 (for example). Basically just trying to get everything tied up as quickly as I can!

Arggh, better go and tackle the mammoth to do list. At least I've been so busy over the last few days that I've been sleeping okay. I agree that it's awful not to know what sort of night you're going to get until you embark on it - I've been reading till really late just to put off the awful moment of settling down to try and get some sleep!

CaptainDippy · 20/02/2007 10:53

Boo! > Jobs jobbed and now time to sit down and catch up a little here .....

DD's are being particularly difficuilt atm, like you, I keep wondering whether it is something to do with my ever-expanding belly MIABT - I took DD1 to the drs about her squint yesterday morning and she screamed and screamed and screamed from the moment we got there to the moment we left - soooo unlike her - full on: tears, puffy eyes, bright red face - The works - Everyone in the waiting room was staring at me and my GP though she was in pain or something. I am sat there, trying to remain calm saying: "Oh no, she's fine, really, I 've just come about her eyes...." GREAT. She even topped it all by weeing on the GP floor! DD2 keeps having MASSIVE screaming fits (usually about 4/5 a day) - completely unconsolable. Finding it v.wearing and tough being a mummy atm - Be glad when I'm at work this pm....

Sorry that lots of you are having bad sleep: maveta, EmmyMummy to name a couple. [hugs] Sleep is a bit better in DippyLand, I have to admit, but oblique lie of bubs is making me rather uncomfy. Hoping you guys get some better sleep soon. xx

EmmyMummy - Hope Em is well enough to go to Two Left Feet hon - hope it is a marvellously successful shopping trip!

Liath - Hope mw appt goes well and ignore all the bloody stupid comments about bump size - everyone carries differently / has different amount of fluid etc.

Righty, best crack on .......

weeonion · 20/02/2007 11:17

cd- i had to go and look up what oblique is! shows how much i know! i know that my Lo was tranverse at last AN appt - i was given exercises and told to lie with my bumon a pile of pillows to help her move. did they recommend anything to help yr lo get in position?

CaptainDippy · 20/02/2007 11:33

Yes, similar stuff, and crawling round on all fours (which, with two under three, I do a lot anyway as you can imagine!) Oblique is pretty similar to transverse, just the other way round and more straight, if that makes any sense at all!!!!? Hammock styleee - must be a boy - lazy git!!

liath · 20/02/2007 11:39

Just back from midwife.

So much for comments but I was measuring so small that midwife started muttering about growth scans. She didn't exactly jump up & down with glee at my wanting to go back to plan A of a homebirth either. Have to get remeasured in 2 weeks. Feck. *rse. I am SICK to death of being prodded and having this blasted pregnancy medicalised when there is NOTHING WRONG. Wish I'd never had that stupid scan. Rant!!!!

It is a lovely sunny day and I am going to make pancakes with dd.

Oh, and LOL at your photo, MIABT!!

nuttygirl · 20/02/2007 11:48

I'm really annoyed with a seller on ebay. I won a medela breast pump a while ago and paid right away. He sent the item and left us positive feedback. When the item arrived the box was damaged, it was really dusty and the instructions were missing. DH emailed him to say the instructions were not in the box (it said they would be on the listing). We got no response after a couple of weeks. I left neutral feedback saying the item was ok but instructions missing & no response to email. He's put a reply to it saying item complete and beware of us cos he's had no email. I can't respond to the comment he's left . Really pissed off...there wasn't enough space in feedback bit to put about the damage to box or dust. He's requested we mutually withdraw the feedback but tbh I don't want to...the item was not as described (instructions missing).

Mammyjo - it was me who got the chair and it's fab!!! Would highly recommend one.

Antenatal class last night was ok. No-one really chatted or anything and the info was quite basic, but some was hospital specific and that was really helpful. Also the mw was really nice and we got a tour of the delivery suite. Looked nice, especially the home-from-home rooms...although bean will have to turn if I want to have one of them!

There was someone there due the day after me but her bump looked so much bigger than mine so I'm now worrying that mine is too small...especially as I was 1cm under at last mw appointment. Have next appointment tomorrow so will pay close attention to measurement. Doesn't help that me and DH were both small at birth...I keep worrying that this one will be.

Welcome MMK - I've packed my bag already and have cot set up. Just about got spare room sorted too.

Sorry to all those who aren't feeling well or having problems sleeping.

CaptainDippy · 20/02/2007 11:49

Stick to your guns re: homebirth Liath - find out about an independant MW in your area and have a chat with them and see what they have to say about it.....If you are happy with bubs' size and the PG, then you KNOW your have nothing to worry about - Ignore them!! Soooo many people get brow-bashed into having a medicalised hospital birth that they didn't want because of one single MW banging on about one small issue, which turned out to be nothing at all. I am not saying that they might not be right and people shouldn't take medical advice, but I often think it should be taken with a 'pinch of salt' - You know your own body .....

Enjoy the pancakes .... yum!

nuttygirl · 20/02/2007 11:50

Sorry Liath - x posted with you. Sorry to hear your appointment didn't go very well. It's so annoying when you don't know if you can have the birth you want.

CaptainDippy · 20/02/2007 11:54

Grrrr @ EBay w*nker nutty.

Stop worrying about the size of your Bumps ladies!! [[hugs]] all round to bump-size worriers!!

If you and DH were small at birth nutty, it is likely you might have a wee bit of a tiddler too; but it doesn't matter as long as they are healthy - different people have different babies, that just the way it is - Don't worry!!

nuttygirl · 20/02/2007 12:05

Have just figured out how to reply to the guy's comment so will show him. Have left a reply saying 'instructions WERE missing, box damaged and item dusty'

I know I shouldn't worry too much about the bump size...think I'm just going through a panicking stage at the moment. Keep thinking I have no idea what to do with a newborn baby.

Can someone explain the bedding thing to me cos DH & I are so confused. We have a moses basket and a cot. Going to see which she prefers to sleep in. Not using grobags until she's a bit older (maybe 6 months). So have cot sheets, moses basket sheets and blankets. Have bought flat sheets. Do I just use sheets like I would a normal sheet on a bed or do i use one like that and then one as a cover for baby? or do I just use blankets as a cover for baby? If I use blankets what sort do I use...I have allsorts - cotton, fleece, cellular,...?

weeonion · 20/02/2007 12:08

hi nutty and liath!

liath - shame on that appt. wa she yr usual mw? i thought other mw had been supportive to the home birth? maybe she is just one on a high horse. you have been through a fair bit on this pg already without someone coming along and unsettling it all. oxoxooox

nutty - ebay can be a bloody nightmare! is there no way you can respond to his comment? i treasure my good rating on it but at the same time i think it is important to be honest. some people really are just bullies tho arent they. stick to yr guns, yu left him neutral and not even negative. glad the chair worked out well for you. xoox

flumppootle · 20/02/2007 12:23

Hello ladies

Have been a vile mood so have only lurked!
It's half term here so chaos trying to keep the los amused and quiet (dh is working from home) also have to keep the house ready for viewing because we are still on the market. I am like a woman possesed - poor kids.

Sorry to hear about your mw Liath, keep your hb in your sights. Like you said you know whats right.

How are the party plans going CD? Have the baking tins come out yet? I am very ashamed to admit that I have fobbed off my dd. She has asked for a mermaid cake, EH? I have convinced her help bake a chocolate fudge cake then her and her sister are going to decorate it themselves with lots of treats.
Am BAadd mummy

Hope everyone else is good and feeling better (1b3) to all who are struggling to sleep.

1becomes3 · 20/02/2007 12:43

Sorry to hear that loads of you are not sleeping well, I would be if DH could sleep through the night, anyone would think it is him who is PG the amount to times he gets up for a wee in the night.
Think I may banish him back to the couch when the SS are gone.

WO- Thanks for the offer of the video, I don't have a video player! but all is not lost I will head round to my mum's if you would be a darling and send it to me, and no worries on gettting it back I will pack mummy dearest off to work with it as she works at the dreaded Post office.

Ooops have just left this message sitting here for an hour forgot to press post!

Birdiebump · 20/02/2007 12:44

Wonderful thread title - EllieK. I bought a nice big bottle of minty sperm after one nasty heartburn attack a couple of weeks ago and haven't actually needed to use it yet so if anyone needs some extra sperm....

Nuttygirl - it all depends! Cellular will probably be good for April. You put her near the bottom of the cot and make sure that whatever you cover her with can't go over her head. Depending how big she is, you can use Grobags from about 2-3 months old and I thoroughly recommend this. I plan to just swaddle our LO and just put her in her cradle until Grobag time. You might want to check out swaddling - you can swaddle in any slightly stretchy blanket and can also buy special swaddling blankets which are supposed to be easier to use. DH was the expert swaddler here last time with DS2 and it worked a treat on him. Swaddling gives tiny babies a feeling of security and should help them sleep better. You won't need anything else on top by April and should make sure that your swaddling blanket is not too hot and they are not wearing much underneath.

I have brought forward my Mat Leave by 2 weeks!! I too was going to work until 23rd March (due 12th April) but I have been having such a hard time with this pgcy that DH suggested (quite forceably!) that I take a couple of extra weeks at this end. I work 4 days a week so the 10-day countdown begins tomorrow. Yippee!!

Flump - bad mother??? I am worst mother on planet. I can't remember either of my DS's ever having a home-made birthday cake! We do make cakes on occasion but not of the quality to show off at a birthday party!

nuttygirl · 20/02/2007 13:00

Thanks BB, my mum keeps buying stuff for us and we're never really sure what exactly we're meant to do with it!!! She keeps saying 'oh, you'll need a couple more of this and one more of that'...and we just have no idea!
