Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

I'm booked up too! Went for the harley street place. In on 22nd for a viability scan. Got a package today...turns out DH had ordered me a "baby on board" badge for the tube! Bit early but so sweet!

leoniethelioness · 07/12/2016 13:19

I'm from the first thread and clicked out of curiosity. I just wanted to congratulate all of you! I'm currently at home with my 13.5 week old baby boy. Enjoy your pregnancies - your babies will be here before you know it!

Mooseville · 07/12/2016 13:42

I should have worked on commission! Feel a bit guilty I've encouraged you all to spend all this money on scans and tests, but if there's a next time I'll certainly be doing it!!

You shouldn't feel guilty Moose, it's something I'd been considering anyway - as I'm the same age as you I'd been worried about going though something similar to you.

Thanks Leonie! I can well believe the time zooms, Christmas is rushing u on me already!!

MrsG280516 · 07/12/2016 16:38

I've got my first midwife appointment tomorrow morning which is supposedly a pre-appointment that I need to have before the "booking appointment". I guess they'll just ask me some questions and give me the usual "take folic acid, don't eat pate or unpasteurised cheese" malarkey.

Musicgrrl · 07/12/2016 17:04

Hi everyone! Thanks for the intro kav. I feel like a total fraud joining this thread as I'm only 13dpo today and so it feels a bit premature (to say the least!) but it is a lovely thread so I figured there wasn't any harm :)

I got my BFP yesterday after trying for 6 months. ETD depends on whether you calculate from first day of last period or ovulation as I have late O, but it's around mid August. Does that mean I am technically 5 weeks gone because I ovulated a week late?! I'm still only 2 weeks from ovulation! I'm 31.

Haven't booked a GP appointment or anything like that yet. Although hope to make enquiries at the start of next week.

What's the deal with the booking appointment? Do you get your first scan then? Sorry for all the questions!

Mrs I love your plan to announce at Xmas. All being well I think we'd tell my mum then. I will also at some point need to tell my two best friends who are marrying their respective OHs next July. I am bridesmaid for both and would be 8 months gone at that stage. Not sure how thrilled they'll be...

MrsG280516 · 07/12/2016 17:25

Hey music until you have your first scan they'll date you from your LMP so you'd be 5 weeks now. When you have your dating scan then they'll probably push your date back a week or so.

I ovulated early this cycle so for me, I'm 19dpo now but only classed as 4+1 from my LMP.

Your booking appointment should happen between 8-12 weeks and then they'll give you a scan date after that.

Musicgrrl · 07/12/2016 17:36

Thanks Mrs! That's so funny as that makes me 4+4 whereas you got your BFP a week ago!

Do you know whether it will be early enough for you to see a heartbeat on your scan? I guess without booking for an early one you would be waiting until into Feb for one on the NHS if your booking appointment is mid Jan? I can see why people pay to get one done sooner!

WantingBaby1 · 07/12/2016 17:36

Congrats Music! Lovely to see another grad here :)

Moose don't be silly! I went for the viability scan. 2 weeks to go...feels like the 2ww but longer and more worrying!

I also POAS this morning just to reassure myself that yes, I am in fact pregnant. Mad woman. Obviously it came back positive, 2-3 now on Clearblue, making me 5+2 according to the Dr. No more POAS for me.

Mooseville · 07/12/2016 18:51

Hi music

It's never too early! Come on over!!! Welcome!
I had my viability scan at 7weeks and you couldn't hear the heartbeat they said, but you could see a little flashing bit in the middle of the "blob" which was the heartbeat! I think it varies but 7/8 weeks is usually when it should be visible.

MrsG280516 · 07/12/2016 19:28

I know, I definitely feel "more pregnant" than 4+1 since we have known for a full week now!

I'm hoping we can hear/see a heartbeat, I'll be 7+3 at the early scan. Yes I imagine that if I don't have my booking appt until 10+1 then the scan is going to be about 2 weeks later.

They did offer me an appointment a week earlier but we are travelling back from holiday that day so likely wouldn't have been home yet.

Wanting I did another CB digi too on Monday and it said 2-3 weeks Grin I sent hubby for the digi ones last week, two packs of 2 were stuck together and he had no idea there was only meant to be one box so walked out of the shop after only scanning and paying for one Hmm so I have two digis left to pee on next week/week after!

Mooseville · 07/12/2016 20:36

OMG MrsG I did exactly the same thing with the clear blues! It said double pack and they were stuck together so I thought it was meant to be like that. Scanned one then got home and I had four!!!

kavanaughkj · 08/12/2016 02:06

So I have my times wrong, I am apparently only 4+6 as of Thursday morning if I count my days from the first day of my last period, which would make me due August 11. Apparently Fertility Friend doesn't know what it's talking about!

Can't sleep tonight though DH has been snoring up a storm Xmas Sad - woke up thinking the night was over and it's only 2 am. Knackered!

MrsG280516 · 08/12/2016 11:21

Had my "early bird" appointment this morning which I had to have before my booking appointment. Got given the info about screening options at the dating scan etc and got weighed and tested for carbon monoxide levels.

Now to wait for our early scan in 22 days then the booking appointment is 19 days after that.

LovelyFishy · 08/12/2016 12:41

MrsG your 1st appointment sounds way better than mine! They basically just confirmed by name and address and said right, see you in a few weeks for the booking in appointment! I was a bit miffed I took time off work for that!

Kav I'm defiantly not sage! I'm the first one of my friends to get pregnant, I have no close family to consult, I'm basically winging this! I hope you gave DH a good elbow for the snoring.

Welcome Music! I think being a bridesmaid at 8 months pregnant will be pretty cool, some of the maternity dresses look soooo pretty! Plus you can easily get out of any mad requests! Wink

Musicgrrl · 08/12/2016 12:49

I poas again today just to check! Guess I'll keep going until I've used up all the ones in the house. Will aim for one a week!

Mrs is that two appointments you've had now?! That's good going. Although I imagine there isn't much they can say at the moment?

I called my local surgery today and asked about appointments and she said that the GP doesn't need to see me and she booked me straight in for my booking appointment in Jan. I'll be 8+3 so it's nice and early. I thought they would say something about folic acid on the phone but nothing!

kav annoying that FF got your dates wrong! And about the snoring. I've been waking up at random times thinking its morning too. Wonder whether it's anxiety or hormones.

Oh, so, I read somewhere that you shouldn't dye your hair in the first trimester. Anyone else seen that? I have a hair appointment next week!

Musicgrrl · 08/12/2016 12:51

Hi fishy! I don't have a problem with being a bridesmaid at 8 months (agree about the dresses!) but when we first talked about being bridesmaid one of my friends was like - of course, you won't be pregnant will you? I haven't told her we were ttc. She's my friend though so sure she'll get over it!

MrsG280516 · 08/12/2016 13:01

music my maid of honour was 5.5 months pregnant at my wedding in May, it was totally fine. I had already bought the dresses by the time she told me in the February so she has to have hers altered with a lace up back so that it would fit.

MrsG280516 · 08/12/2016 13:02

Yeah that was my second appointment but the first GP appointment was totally pointless. I guess I should have just asked the receptionist to book me straight in with the midwife.

Musicgrrl · 08/12/2016 13:04

mrs what are the screening options that they told you about? Apparently I have to choose which hospital I get referred to. Bit of research to do on that - there's a choice of two.

MrsG280516 · 08/12/2016 13:28

They screen for Down's, Edward's and Patau's syndromes. You can be screened for all three, just Down's, just Edward's and Patau's or none.

www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/screening-amniocentesis-downs-syndrome.aspx

Basically you'll get a high or low risk result, if its high risk then you'll be offered the amniocentesis screening to give a definitive answer.

I live in a different Borough to where my registered GP is so I think I have a few choices of hospitals to give birth, downside is that the midwife I'll see at my booking appointment won't be able to do home visits when I'm further along, I'll have to see her at the GP surgery or the hospital. Then when I've had the baby we'll be under different (local) midwives for health visitor appts etc.

Mooseville · 08/12/2016 18:47

music About the hair, the amount of chemicals passing into is so small it shouldn't make a difference. You should maybe try and have a patch test though just to check your hormones don't make you react differently?

OP posts:
Musicgrrl · 09/12/2016 07:51

Thanks mrs that's really interesting. I didn't realise the odds for something like Down's syndrome were so high. I thought it would be more like 1 in 10,000!

moose I think you're right but I'll probably speak to my hairdresser just in case. It will be strange though as she would be the first person that we've told!

So have you all told your families about your BFPs? mrs I know you are saving it for Xmas and kav I think you said you did? We don't know who to tell and when as we're so aware of the miscarriage stats so kind of want to wait a bit.

WantingBaby1 · 09/12/2016 08:25

I'm waiting unil I see my parents and parent in law at Christmas. I've told a few friends as will need the support if something happens.

MrsG280516 · 09/12/2016 11:04

God I thought the 2ww was when time stood still! I can't believe how slowly the days are going by.

Managed to swerve alcohol at the family meal last night, I was offered a glass of prosecco but just said that I didn't fancy drinking due to the antibiotics (small white lie!).
