Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

Congrats on the Wimbledon tickets NS - very envious, both my mum and I applied this year and neither of us has been lucky.

This thread has been quiet lately! I'm guessing we've all been busy. DH still job hunting here but I've had a week off to relax which has been soooo good. It'll be tough again back at work when I go back but at least it's only for 3 weeks before I have s holiday in Portugal :)

21 weeks for me tomorrow. I'm getting majorly fidgety as I still haven't felt baby move at all. I have my 20 week scan on Monday though so praying for good news - hopefully I just have an anterior placenta or something. Proper headache today though which refuses to budge.

Hope all you ladies are well and enjoyed the sunshine today!

WantingBaby1 · 25/03/2017 20:02

kav I'm 20+3 and I've barely felt movement. Ive got an anterior placenta so that's probably why. 20 week scan was lovely though. Headaches are a good sign (unfortunately), means all the hormones are doing their thang Smile

Musicgrrl · 25/03/2017 20:07

kav I was thinking about you earlier as I remembered you have your scan on Monday. I can't wait for mine on Wednesday - I'm hoping it will give me some reassurance! Just want to hear that baby is healthy in there. I can't remember if you are finding out the sex?

Musicgrrl · 25/03/2017 20:09

wanting glad to hear your scan went well. I currently have awful acne which I am putting down to hormones too!

Mooseville · 25/03/2017 21:00

Oooh lots of scans!!!! Good luck for next week kav and music
Sorry for being quiet, my life is in chaos with renovations, work and baby prep! Plus we've no internet yet!
Had my 28 week appt and midwife said baby is measuring small, on 5th percentile! I mean I'm nearly 6ft, size 18 with size 9 feet. Nothing to do with me has ever been small! I'm in shock!
However, she did say it was very unreliable (no shit-it was done by prodding me and using a paper tape measure!) They're leaving it three weeks and if I measure small again I'll be sent for a growth scan!!! Fingers crossed all's ok. My bump is blumming huge so there must be something in there!

Wow Moose - I'm expecting a big baby given that DH is 6ft5 and I'm no shortie either, so if I'm told I'm having a small baby I'll be wondering what's going on too!

Good luck Music - nope, I'm not finding out the gender. I want DH to tell me what it is after I push it out!

Thanks for the reassurance Wanting. Nobody tells you how much stress is involved first in TTCing and then once you get pregnant, in worrying over the baby!! Glad your scan went well :)

Musicgrrl · 26/03/2017 07:20

moose that happened to my friend who is due in April. She was measuring small so they sent her for a growth scan and at that scan it showed that her baby was in the 85th percentile! Like you said, I'm sure it's just that the way they measure bumps is inaccurate. How are the renovations going? We are decorating a couple of rooms atm and that feels stressful enough!

kav that's exciting re waiting to find out gender. I think we are planning to find out but then pretend we haven't to others IRL. Let's see how well that goes... I think I could wait now though as I have randomly assigned baby a gender already in my head so I don't feel like I'm in suspense atm (I think it's a boy for no reason at all!)

We're off for a big family meal at DH's sisters today. I think it will be nice but I would much prefer if it was after our scan so I could (hopefully) feel more relaxed.

kav I know what you mean about not being prepared for all the worrying that comes, both with ttc and pregnancy. DH says it is to prepare us for the rest of our lives (although I don't think he is experiencing much stress atm)! Glad you had a lovely week off.

Musicgrrl · 26/03/2017 07:25

ns I meant to say, hiring a doula sounds like a great idea - I can totally see why people do it and I'm sure it will make you feel more prepared for the birth. My DH also experiences anxiety so I am going to be thinking of ways to help him through that when it gets closer to the time. Also, congratulations on the Wimbledon tickets and enjoy your mini break!

Starmist · 26/03/2017 17:29

Music hope you've had a nice weekend away despite having a cold. I've had one the past few days & it hasn't been much fun!
I'm planning on finishing work 4 weeks before my due date.
We're planning on finding out the sex but keeping it to ourselves too! Hope I can keep it a secret... Hmm

Hope you're ok NS. Totally understand you getting a doula, what a fab idea, I'm sure it'll be a big relief that you'll know who will deliver your baby. I need to get a hypnobirthing cd so I can try it.
Ooh lucky you, Wimbledon will be fab!

Kav good luck for your hubby's job search. Ah a holiday sounds amazing. We're going to book a weekend away in the next couple of months.

I'm 17 weeks & I know it's quite early but I'm sure I've felt some flutters of movement a couple of times. It felt like popping candy going off in my tummy. Very strange but so amazing.

DH got me a Mother's Day card from the bump. Cutest thing ever. It seems so surreal that this time next year we'll have babies. I still don't feel like it's real, I'm sure I'm just putting weight on! Grin

Good luck for all the 20 week scans coming up. Let us know how you get on xx

Seahawk80 · 26/03/2017 18:12

Hi all - hope everyone had a nice weekend. I've been working but off to see my family now. Looking forward to seeing my mum and to have cuddles with my newborn nephew! I'm really lucky to be in London and have a lot of family around, so many of my friends here are miles away from their families.

Good luck for scans - try not to worry too much music - easier said than done I know.

moose I don't put much stock in the baby measuring - I was induced because they were sure I was full term and I weighed 5lb and was obviously premature.

Well done on the Wimbledon tix kav!

26 weeks now and feeling so much movement - I 😍 it!

Starmist · 27/03/2017 13:05

Seahawk have a lovely time visiting your family. Enjoy those baby cuddles!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Musicgrrl · 27/03/2017 16:39

Will catch up properly later but how was it kav?

kavanaughkj · 27/03/2017 17:28

Just come back from the hospital and thank God everything is fine. :) I'm so relieved! Was really stressing out last night and this morning about the fact I've not felt anything yet - the lady doing the scan today was pretty dismissive about that though, just said it was still early to be feeling anything! Apparently I have an 'anterior-high' placenta so it may be partially blocking any movement - but the first thing we saw on the scan today was 4 chambers of a strongly beating heart. After that everything was a bonus! It was really odd seeing the baby's face though - looked like it was sucking its thumb at one point. I noticed the lady scanning was careful to stay away from the nether regions though as we were clear we don't want to know the sex.

Oh and DH has been told he has a 4th interview for a position he really wants which sounds very hopeful - a pretty good day today after a bunch of stress!

Hope your scan goes well Music - it's Wednesday isn't it?

Starmist · 27/03/2017 18:21

Lovely news Kav must be such a relief to know everything is ok Smile 4th interview?! Wow. Keeping everything crossed for him.

Seahawk80 · 27/03/2017 20:41

Lovely news kav - such a relief for you!

Musicgrrl · 27/03/2017 22:22

What great news kav! So glad it all went well. I'm surprised that the sonographer didn't want to take a cheeky peak themselves - I think I would if I were them! Yes, our scan is on Wednesday. I feel the same level of anxiety as I used to when I had exams! It's particularly bad at night and first thing in the mornings. Hopefully tomorrow will come and go quickly. Baby is quite active at the moment - I'm wondering if it's all my adrenaline!

Seahawk80 · 28/03/2017 08:46

They do check the sex@Musicgrrl as they have check things are normal. They kept telling us to look away which makes me think it's a boy as apparently it is more obvious. But then midwife thinks it's a girl due to the heart rate - I love guessing!

Mind you on Sunday I said well it's either a girl or a boy, there aren't many options. One of the BILs or maybe DH said the usual boy comment - or a hermaphrodite - my mum said well there's one in the family. My sister who's also pregnant and I were like whaaaat? Mum said ha ha look at your faces so I thought she was joking. But apparently not, she had a very tall, very hairy aunty Margaret!!

Musicgrrl · 29/03/2017 10:31

Well, we had the scan this morning and I'm relieved to say that everything looked and measured normal! Baby was asleep during the scan so it didn't take long to whizz through everything.

I cannot believe how anxious I have been all week leading up to this. I think it has been tough on my DH dealing with me so I'll try and cook him something nice tonight.

We also found out that we are having a baby girl!! My DH looked quite shocked as I had been quite convinced (for no reason) that it was a boy. We are not telling people IRL yet although we may later.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

MrsG280516 · 29/03/2017 11:09

Yay for another perfect little girl Music! You'll have so much fun picking stuff out for her Grin

MrsG280516 · 29/03/2017 11:13

So not only can I feel lots of movement now, yesterday at around 3pm our little girl decided to have a party when I was sat at my desk and I could actually see her moving my belly. Managed to get a little video clip to send to DH. So excited to see if he can feel her from the outside at the weekend. I'm 21+3 today and thought it would be a while yet due to having an anterior placenta but it seems to have moved out of baby's way now.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

kavanaughkj · 29/03/2017 11:29

Congrats Music - that must be a relief! I'm even more convinced that I'm carrying a boy now as everybody else appears to be having girls!! Guess we'll find out in August - unless it's a hermaphrodite (thanks for that suggestion Seahawk! Confused)

Think I may have felt baby move in the last day or for the first time - like gas bubbles popping way down low in my belly. Nowhere near your level of activity MrsG but exciting nevertheless!!

Seahawk80 · 29/03/2017 11:50

Congrats on a girl music - so exciting! And so glad all was ok!

I love the movement. Baby is shy though, as soon as I put my hand there it stops - and if I see my belly move and then watch it stops too! DH has managed to feel a couple of times. I'm quite glad though as it's a good excuse to stop people touching me. I hate being touched generally by anyone except DH or really close friends.

kavanaughkj · 29/03/2017 13:13

You haven't had any strangers try to pat your bump yet then Seahawk? I've had one so far which took me aback - lady working in a clothing store who was trying to be reassuring about the fact that I couldn't fit into any of the tops my friend was trying on. Said 'well you've got a good reason for it' and patted my belly - at least she didn't think I was fat, but it did surprise me a little. I didn't really mind all that much but it made me think ... I would never touch anybody I didn't know like that normally but people think a bump is public property or something!

Starmist · 30/03/2017 08:05

So pleased everything is ok Music & congratulations on being on team pink 💗

Only a close friend has rubbed my tummy so far & that was fine. I'd hate it if a stranger did it though... you wouldn't normally touch strangers so I'm not sure why people think it's ok when you're pregnant.

Yay for all the feelings of movement! Smile

Musicgrrl · 30/03/2017 08:19

Thanks guys! I keep looking back at the scan pic and smiling. Funnily lots of people have commented on baby's nose! Trying not to be offended haha.

Mrs glad to hear that your placenta seems to have budged a bit so that you can feel it when baby has a party in the office! I am looking forward to stronger kicks and for my DH to be able to feel them too.

kav I think that might have been why I was expecting baby to be a boy - to even this thread out! But when I told DH this he frowned and gave me a lecture on statistics and about how it doesn't work like that. I can't have been listening too carefully as I can't explain why... Glad you're picking up on some movement now too!

Seahawk how many weeks are you now? Glad your DH has got in on the game! The first person to touch my tummy (apart from DH) was the nurse that gave me my whooping cough jab yesterday. She literally just put her hand out and was like 'you don't have much of a bump for 20 weeks'. I was taken aback as it felt inappropriate as I had only just met her!

How are you doing starmist?

Happy Thursday to everyone else on the thread! Hope you're all well.
