Bramshott, I know exactly what you mean, although obviously this is no.1 for me.

I think I am such a control freak, that its the fear of the unknown that is driving me mad.. I want everything to be organised.. yesterday!!

What I have to keep reminding myself is that babies really only need a few things.. somewhere to sleep, eat and be warm.. not necessarily a colour co-ordinated all singing and dancing nursery, or designer clothes, or all of the equipment and accessories that everyt baby magazine will have you belive that you need.. I stress about having everything sorted so much that I have to remind myself of this almost every day.. I also think about all the babies that were born years ago when all this sh*t wasnt about, and those that are born in developing countries.. ok, I'm not saying that I would want that for my baby, most the majority do ok, and manage without maching foot muffs and bugaboos and patterned nappy wraps!!

Sorry, that wasnt a rant meant at you, more myself really!!

Hi guys...

Went to see midwife yesterday.. babies head is down already, which I thought was early but she said that was normal??? Espcially as ds was 11 days early..

bubblez your not the only one panicking about the dd day! My dh wasn't at ds birth he was away and should be here for this one and he is not sure what to expect! I have just told him to stay by my head

Two weeks until I leave work can't wait.... they are interviewing for my replacement today... can't help but fill a little bit of pride and worried that they will do a poo job and I will have to correct everything when I get back in nine months...

I think my brain is working overtime....

Hope everyone is okay... not long to go now...

Sorry I have skimmed the thread but can't remember much.

Sending [[[hugs]]] to all those who are poorly or had a terrible nights sleep.

Weeonion...I think asked about monitors with the pad underneath. I had the Angelcare Analogue one with Jake and only had a couple of false alarms and then only when he was about 18months. I loved it and it really provided me with reassurance. I agree with some of the comments on the baby monitor thread that the volume is quite loud, but I never put it in the bedroom with me anyway because I would hear him if he was crying and would hear the monitor if it went off.

Unfortunatly it broke a couple of weeks ago and I have now bought the Digital Angelcare one. Haven't tried the sensor mat, but the volume is much better because it is sound activated so it's not too loud!

Be back later xx

Katy44 · 15/02/2007 14:34

gmm - know exactly how you feel, but are you really saying I didn't need the heffalump top and tail bowl and matching nappy pail?!

BTW - I ordered loads of stuff onlone from Boots, delivered today, and got loads of free points as they're doing an offer at the moment and I ahve vouchers. Just noticed on the receipt it says I have to go into Boots to get my points - they don't go on automatically! Just to warn anyone else who might have not realised that - it was only by chance I spotted it!

bubblez · 15/02/2007 14:37

Head down already!! I didn't know that happened so early for 2nd babies.... did you have any idea?? eg needing to go loo a lot, preasure low down when walking? I ask because I get them things and am wondering now if it may be my baby is head down too.... did the mw say if the baby would be likely to turn or stay that way?

Sorry so many questions....

nuttygirl · 15/02/2007 14:37

Sorry to hear so many of us have had crappy night's sleep or are feeling ill. I didn't sleep well last night either - had a bad back all night. I think it was trapped wind tho cos I kept waking up and farting .

Had a really nice valentine's evening tho, stayed in, I cooked and then watched a film and DH got a quickie on the sofa . Made up for last year when we went out and had a pretty bog standard meal and crap wine.

Pants...someone asked something I was going to reply to but I can't remember who it was or what they asked.

geordiemacminx · 15/02/2007 14:41

Katy - yeah I noticed this when I ordered the samsonite travel cot and such like a few weeks ago... wasnt much hassle though, you just stick your card in the machine and it does it automatically.

I got about 1100 points when buying £50 worth of stuff... now have £45 on my advantage card that I keep saying I will use to buy my clinique stuff but know that if I dont spend them soon they will be used for nappies and other boring stuff!!!

Katy44 · 15/02/2007 14:44

They are fantastic for point aren't they?! Can't believe before I got pregnant I didn't see the need!!

geordiemacminx · 15/02/2007 14:48

I tend to save mines up for a year then treat myself for something particular... there was a woman in front of me the other day trying to buy a bloody cream egg with the points from 2 cards... I wouldnt care but she was obviously dressed well, and was just holding everyone up... RAAAAAA

maveta · 15/02/2007 14:54

Aargh it´s all gone in one ear and out the other.

WO - I just saw that the cd arrived today! THANK YOU! What a day for receiving things! It´s so lovely, I never get any post apart from bills. Thank you, I look forward to listening to it tonight. x

Um..oh yes (I am feeling very vague at the moment, can you tell?) i just bought a nappy wrap from ebay for .99p. not bad eh? plus p+p of course but that was minimal. I´m LIKING this ebay thing..

x

nuttygirl · 15/02/2007 15:35

Grrr...just spotted a great glider chair on ebay....so tempted (I know I shouldn't really!) but can't contact DH to see if it's ok for me to buy it.

eca · 15/02/2007 15:42

ellie - sorry to hear you're feeling low.

maveta - wow! looks lovely! makes me want to book a holiday!

hi bubblez - hope you're feeling better after your meltdown!

miabt - hugs to you after a crap night! You must be knackered!

GMM - totally agree with your rant. My friend's just had her 3rd and she said the other day that in total he's cost her £6.99 because so many people have given her stuff!

hi Twinkle, lol at telling dh to stay by your head!

bubblez · 15/02/2007 15:43

I know that this is going to sound really stupid as this is my 2nd baby but what exactly can i use muslin squares for? Some were given to me as part of a mothercare starter pack.

Oh and can anyone remind me what ointment we're going to be getting for after labour?? You know the one that reduces bruising etc...

NG - how much is the chair going for?

thanks

bubblez · 15/02/2007 15:45

@ 6.99 eca

Katy44 · 15/02/2007 15:46

arnica is meant to reduce bruising.

nuttygirl · 15/02/2007 15:51

Maveta - pics look lovely...I only just figured out where to find them!!!! duh!

Hmm...well DH says I can have chair if I want it, just waiting for seller to reply to a question.

nuttygirl · 15/02/2007 15:53

Bubblez - think muslin squares can be used for nappies on newborns or for burping cloths.

Chair is going for £65 buy it now price but it's a dutalier. The fabric won't really match our other stuff but I figure it's not that important.

bubblez · 15/02/2007 15:53

arnica!! thats the one, I couldn't for the life of me remember and it was so many threads back... thanks for that katty

Any idea on muslin squares?

nuttygirl · 15/02/2007 15:55

Oh and it's local aswell...think it might fit in DHs car but seller said they might deliver within a reasonable distance (we're only about 7 miles away) so have asked if they would deliver if we pay the BIN price.

Someone recommended witch hazel also (to put on maternity pads) for soothing the pain.

bubblez · 15/02/2007 15:57

sorry xposted NG.... ok so muslin squares=sicky cloths..

65 going to have a look as see what a £65 chair does lol.... anyway if its what you want go for it.... fingers crossed!! I've had ppl outbid me when there is only 7seconds left....(not got the hang of it yet)

Katy44 · 15/02/2007 15:58

Don't know but I have 3 packs!
Think as nuttygirl says you use them to catch anything that comes up while burping the baby.

Katy44 · 15/02/2007 15:59

A friend told me about some sort of stuiff called badidas that you put in the bath that's meant to help you heal. Couldn't find it in Boots - has anyone here heard of it?

8andahalfweeksandcounting · 15/02/2007 16:01

Hello all! Haven't you all been chatty today!

I HAVE FINISHED WORK - got huge bunch of lilies and £20 M&S vouchers!

Can't stop now - will catch up tomorrow!
