wilf I'm thinking of abstaining for the duration on principle... In my pregnant paranoia I have convinced myself they use the samples for some sort of database....

Mozfan1 · 28/09/2016 22:04

stubble I am very jealous of the thought of Chinese food!

Bumplovin · 28/09/2016 23:05

Thanks popskipikin that really helps. Ive bought an ergobaby 360 for when she is bigger or for more outdoorsy walks so the caboo would be mainly for while she is small and for around the house and short trips out.

bumbleclat · 29/09/2016 02:26

Eurgh baby always either wakes me up with kicks at 2:30 or 5am I have a very big morning at work tomorrow and have a bad cold too.
I'm going to go in in the morning do what I've got to do then ask to go home at lunch time I'm feeling awful :(

barkingtreefrog · 29/09/2016 06:21

London I bought the anusol with hydrocortisone but it said not to be used in pregnancy so I've been using the one without. They were getting better but yesterday I had a massive poo and it was like a blood bath, and all the piles popped out much worse Sad. Sorry to anyone eating breakfast!!!

I am feeling really run down. Got hideous, painful acne on my face as well. Woke with cramp again at 4am and haven't got back to sleep. SPD pain getting worse when I turn. Three weeks left at work after tomorrow and I can't wait until I can have some naps during the day!!!!

Bigfam · 29/09/2016 07:39

I'm sorry to hear everyone is feeling so bad Sad
I also get the rolling movements but she seems to have developed a knack for doing it whilst we are walking to school in the morning, huge rolls that make me stop walking.
Still no word from mw or anyone who said they'd call back. Might call later or wait til monday (kids are off tomorrow so won't achieve anything then)

Popskipiekin · 29/09/2016 10:04

OrianaBanana poor you, piles are so goddamn dreadful. Really hope we all manage to find ways of improving them. Hmm, yes I did worry that the hydrocortisone might not be allowed in pregnancy. But depends how cavalier you're feeling. There's so much that "isn't allowed" because - quite understandably - no pregnant woman will subject herself/her baby to any testing during pregnancy, so there are just lots of things to avoid just in case waits for someone with more medical experience to tell me that hydrocortisone really is a very bad thing to use in pregnancy

I had to google a sitz bath to check - google was very enlightening: it is a bath, in which you sit Grin for 15-20 mins to sooth the perineum area. Perhaps also a good idea for all those considering perineal massage...

Anyway. I'm going to give it a bash, whilst continuing to complain loudly to DH about my piles. As they are birth & pregnancy related I figure they are at least 50% his fault :)

StubbleTurnips · 29/09/2016 10:07

Hydrocortisone isn't allowed in pregnancy???!!!

I have to cover DD in it every night due to her full body excema, I've been doing that everyday Confused

Londonmamabychance · 29/09/2016 10:11

Barking I know they say not to use the Anusol with hydrocortisone in pregnancy, but my GP presecribed it for me and said it was okay. I reckon it is fine if you only use it for a little while. With these things the medicine companies are always super careful, and they always say that xx product "should only be used if the benfits to the mum outweighs the risks for the baby" and I guess that was what my GP reasoned. Obvs, this would not go for super strong medicines or crack cocaine (doubting the GP would prescribe that, anyway ; )) but of course it depends how careful you want to be.

Popski a sitz bath sounds more fancy than it is, it's just soaking your bum in warm (not hot) water, with or without Epsom salt. Can do it by scrubbing your tub super clean and sitting there, or you can get a kit in pharmacies and Boots that you put on the toilet, like a little platic bag. i just used a low metal bowl I had, it wasn't that comfy but did the job.

Bigfam you're being so patient! I'd have hit the roof by now! hope you get thorugh to someone soon, really think you'r in your good right to call and push them for an app.! But then, this country probably works better thanks to patient peole like you ; )

Is anyone gettign a lot of pain at the front of the belly, on both sides of the belly button and on top of it? It hurts there and feels sore on and off, I asked the MW about it yesterday at 28 wk app., and she said could just be baby pushing, but it worries me slightly as it's v painful and dind't have it in my last pregnancy.

Bigfam · 29/09/2016 10:20

I've finally managed to get through to the midwife! But she asked if I could see her tonight at half 6 at her maternity unit. I bloody well doubt it but I will try...

I hope you get some relief from your sitz bath Popskipiekin

SolomanDaisy · 29/09/2016 12:10

Well done on speaking to her BigFam!

Babydreaming, I hope the scan goes well.

I've just been to the midwife and have to have an urgent growth scan on Tuesday. Apparently my uterus hasn't grown enough and combined with the small abdomen the midwife thinks it needs investigating. This is the first time someone has actually said, look this could just be a small girl but there's nothing in your family history to explain that and your last baby was 95th centile. Could be IUGR, could be a chromosome disorder, could be related to low PAPP-A as no one really understands the link. She's my favourite of the midwives and I feel quite relieved that someone is actually discussing this with me properly. So I've got a growth scan followed by midwife appointment to discuss whether I need consultant referrals. Have to rest, eat well, contact them even in the middle of the night if baby stops moving. Ho hum.

Bigfam · 29/09/2016 12:31

Thanks SolomanDaisy she's sending a time through for next friday when I will be 31 weeks, better late than never.
I hope your scan goes well tuesday and you get some answers.

OrianaBanana · 29/09/2016 12:55

I'm glad you're getting a scan SolomanDaisy, I hope it gives you the reassurance you need.

Thanks for the info on the sitz bath! I should really have asked my midwife about anusol and hydrocortisone yesterday but a) I forgot and b) I'd dragged DH with me (unusually) and wouldn't have wanted to mention it in front of him. This is the man who doesn't like it when I burp (I burp anyway) and poops in absolute secrecy Grin

SunnySideDownUp · 29/09/2016 13:10

Solomon sorry to hear you're having this worry, but pleased you've got a midwife who is taking it seriously x

duxb · 29/09/2016 13:19

Hi all - sorry to hear about the later pregnancy discomforts.

Solomon - glad they are going to scan you. It's always better to know. I was measuring big at 28 weeks and when I went for my 31 week appointment on Tuesday, hadn't grown at all. I had my emergency growth scan this morning, onsite at the hospital. It was all very proper and serious whilst the scanning was happening and only once they were happy, did the atmosphere relax.

By the scan measurements baby is 4lb which is bob on my 50th centile. If I haven't grown quite significantly at my 34 week midwife appointment, I will have to have another scan, so although it looked okay today I'm not entirely out of the woods!

Hope those of you experiencing worries get the reassurance you need.

Babydreaming · 29/09/2016 17:34

Hey all, just a quick update! I had mixed results from my scan. He has grown, which is reassuring. He is still on the small side but hasn't really changed centiles and his EFW is 3lb6oz, so not too bad for 30w gestation! My placenta is functioning without any obvious problems so they aren't so worried about growth restriction at this stage! His long bones are all measuring small and they are not sure why. They said most likely he is just a short limbed normal baby, but they cannot exclude genetic skeletal conditions! They offered me an amniocentesis, but I don't want to risk preterm labour and it wouldn't affect things as I would obviously still love him even if he did have anything wrong. They couldn't see any other markers of skeletal problems such as in facial structure, they think it is most likely that he is just short and normal.

The other thing was they discovered that one of his kidneys was slightly dilated. They said it was very mild and most resolve by themselves in the womb or shortly after but it is something they will monitor on future ultrasounds and he will have to have an ultrasound after he's born to make sure its resolved and there is nothing wrong! She said it wasn't a huge issue and worst case scenario would be a small operation after birth.

So not an entirely positive scan, but I think they were very reassured by the fact that his growth hasn't worsened and he's following his centiles!
I have another scan in 3 weeks so will try and stay positive til then. :)

Solomon i'm glad that midwife referred you on for further assessment! Hopefully it's nothing and she is just small, but I know what its like to have suspicions that something is wrong and how anxious it can make you! Definitely worth getting assessed by a senior doctor. Ive heard that bump measurements are extremely unreliable though so try not to panic!

Bumplovin · 29/09/2016 21:39

Ive just had a long email from a pharmacist at the breastfeeding network and much to my suprise she thinks the medication I take will only have minimal levels in breast milk so after years of thinking Id never know what breastfeeding felt like im excited, nervous and now feel a bit overwhelmed but im hoping I'll be able to bond with her better doing this. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for an electric breast pump. My husband is keen to help me out some nights so im not completely shattered and so Id like to try expressing a little

Londonmamabychance · 29/09/2016 23:22

babydreaming they also said on my DD's scan that one kidney was dilated and she had a follow up scan after she was born and all was fine it resolved itself. So although I know it's hard, try not to worry too much.

barkingtreefrog · 30/09/2016 06:10

Solomon glad you've got the scan and dreaming sorry it wasn't totally reassuring.

Banana I also had the midwife yesterday but forgot to ask about the anusol. My bump measured 28 and I'm 30 weeks today. She said this was fine as they allow 3 cm either way.

She told me to book in for another appointment at 31 weeks, but that means going back in only two weeks, and I've got a growth scan the following week anyway. Also, I'm seeing the mental health midwife next week, have my flu jab this afternoon and physio next Thursday, it's all getting a bit ridiculous and very inconvenient with work!!! I'm going to call today and ask if the 31 week appointment is strictly necessary if I've been seen at 29+6 and I'll be seen for a growth scan at 32!

For anyone that's measuring small and been referred, do you think, yourself, that your bump is small? Mine seems really small.... anyone fancy posting bump pictures to reassure me?

Mozfan1 · 30/09/2016 10:40

Hi bigfam it happened to me at 39 weeks and I was induced when I had ds, i think because I'm tall and stuff my bump wasn't one of those big sticky out firm ones if u know what I mean... I'm nearly 29 weeks I could post a pic of u like?

Mozfan1 · 30/09/2016 10:41

I think I was measuring like 34 weeks but they didn't just click to the fact that I was measuring small because ds has probably engaged Hmm I really didn't want to be induced to be honest

Mozfan1 · 30/09/2016 10:42

Sorry had not has

Mozfan1 · 30/09/2016 10:42

Sorry I'm laying down... Been up since 4 with ds 😂

Bigfam · 30/09/2016 11:04

I know I've been up since 5am with dd3, she's still going strong! Your bump looks small when you're laying down.
This is my bump, baby number 5 Shock
Is it just me or does it look small Confused
