Feel like a new woman Grin

OrianaBanana · 28/09/2016 11:48

They feel like it to me bumble, it's the piles Sad

Yes Mozfan that was an appointment I'd have been happy not to go to and save the NHS some time. She looked through my notes, wrote the same notes up on her screen, that was it.

Mozfan1 · 28/09/2016 11:57

So weird isn't it?! Thankfully as its second time round I don't seem to have as many appointments as last time. As I have now had (so far) two uneventful pregnancies I just feel like I'm wasting their time!

SolomanDaisy · 28/09/2016 12:56

I haven't had to give a single urine sample here, it's a weird difference!

Eskerina81 · 28/09/2016 14:18

Soloman I think the Dutch attitude is to be much more hands off unless they think you're at risk of something (which I guess they must get just from blood pressure as that's all they ever checked when I was pregnant with dd! ) I found they measured my bump a lot more though.

Mozfan1 · 28/09/2016 14:21

soloman that sounds like heaven! I'm sick of constant testing when it's really not necessary.

Londonmamabychance · 28/09/2016 15:34

Just had my 28 weeks ppointment, all they did was blood pressure, felt bump and urine sample. But then also glucose test, aparently they do that with everyone at UCLH.

Not much point in it´if you're ding fine but guess it's good to go in so they can catch it if anything doesn't seem right.

Becasue I'm almost 1 hour away in traffic from hopsital (30 mins without, say if it was in the middle of the night) in a taxi, I'm slightly worried aboiut when I'll go in, as this is my second. I have nightmare visions I go in too late and end up giving birth in the taxi!! Anyone else a bit far fra hospital and not having number 1? With DD I wasn't worried at all as number 1 notmally takes quite a long time (she was born 12 hours after I came to the hospital).

Popskipiekin · 28/09/2016 15:52

Oriana are you having any luck with piles treatment? mine have got so bad all of a sudden, I couldn't actually think about anything else for much of last week, I was complaining to DH about them all the time! Blush They're so nasty, I hate them. I think I'll have to go the GP soon... fortunately I have inherited an ergonomic chair at work which has pads for my knees so I can kneel and transfer my weight there rather than my bum.

Londonmamabychance · 28/09/2016 16:05

Popski I posted about having horrendous piles some weeks ago, they're now better thanks to the following: Regular sitz baths with warm water, wiping my bum only with baby wipes, wiping with witch hazel on cotton wool after bowel movements, using anusol with hydrocortisone (there's one Anusol without hydrocortisone and it's not effective AT ALL), drinking loads of water and eting loads of fibre, walking and staying active but not TOO active, and not carrying DD so much.

Hope yours get better soon, it's insane how painful they can be, they tka eyour mind off everything else!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/09/2016 16:05

Londonmama I'm about 40mins away without traffic and an hourish in traffic. The thing that worries me is even though I was in Labour for 3days from when my waters broke with my daughter, I did not feel the contractions till the last hour or so, which worried the doctors, so I'm hoping they will induce me so they will monitor me.

firawla · 28/09/2016 16:41

Im about 30 mins but an hour in traffic too. If I'm induced then it wouldn't be an issue, but if not I'll probably try to head in straight away as soon as I feel anything get started, as it's #4 and you never know how quick it'll be! 2/3 of mine have been induced so this was only ever an issue with #2. I did make it in time, but about 8cm by the time I went in with him - in hindsight I should have left the house earlier! His labour wasn't as painful as ds1 though so I wasn't quite sure if I was in labour until I must have been quite well established, and then had to wait for dh to get home from work about an hour away!

Popskipiekin · 28/09/2016 16:46

Londonmama thank you - from one fellow sufferer to another! I'll go back and get some anusol, it was rubbish when I tried it last but perhaps - as you suggest - I was trying one without hydrocortisone. Did you put anything in the water for your sitz bath? I have some Epsom salts and read just now they are good for piles...worth a try I suppose. I do carry my absolute lump of a DS a fair bit because I like the cuddles but he will have to learn to be more independent soon... I didn't think it might be making things worse, of course as he's such a weight it must be.

Nojo82 · 28/09/2016 17:10

london im about 40mins away without traffic. No 4 here. With my last one i went in and they sent me home, i was 2cm and having contractions. So still had contractions rest of the day but i talked myself out of going coz they weren't any stronger. Tbh i was scared to go back in case they wouldnt take me. Ended up leaving it til 4am nxt day, was 8cm and had him before 7am. Hopefully not go too quick this time..

DartmoorDoughnut · 28/09/2016 17:10

Why oh why won't he stop kicking me in the hip?!

OrianaBanana · 28/09/2016 17:29

popskipiekin I haven't been treating them regularly but just using anusol (non hydrocortisone) which hasn't been working and using wet wipes. Also more fibre and water. They hurt though and they've just started bleeding Sad DH is utterly revolted by hearing about them (or even me mentioning Anusol at all) so I don't talk about them to him.

What is a sitz bath?

Bigfam · 28/09/2016 19:33

Got this today. The picture doesn't do it justice, it's lovely. Loads of space & pockets for storage.

Mozfan1 · 28/09/2016 19:47

Big I've got an Amazon voucher. Think I've just found what I want to spend it on..!!!

Bigfam · 28/09/2016 19:56

It's really REALLY gorgeous Mozfan1
The blue isn't as washed out as in the picture, it's an aqua blue. I'd order it soon as there was only 7 left and not sure if it will increase when they get more stock Smile

Mozfan1 · 28/09/2016 19:59

Shock I had better get my arse into gear! I have a 15 pounds voucher I think it's fate you know! And I need a new nappy bag, my old one is basically trashed after getting thrown about and covered in baby stuff Blush

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/09/2016 20:35

That looks lovely BigFam.

This might seem horrible but does anyone else hate baby kicking?? Every time baby kicks me it hurts and nearly brings me to tears. Sometimes the kicks are so strong it's like an electric shock. I don't think I can last another 11weeks of this.

Bigfam · 28/09/2016 20:42

Mozfan1 must be Grin
Lovewatchingrainfall bless you. I know what you mean about it feeling like an electric shock. They're running out of space in there x

Mozfan1 · 28/09/2016 21:38

Love I'm with you there, not so much the pain but I don't remember it feeling as 'creepy' last time round... I don't enjoy it at all. People ask me 'oh are you feeling lots of kicks?!' ... Yeah, not enjoying it much 😒

wilfrhodes · 28/09/2016 21:57

dartmoor, love mine hit me hard in the crotch for a week. awful. and a really weird sensation when it is coming from the inside!

oriana, mozfan i have managed to remember a urine sample precisely once. for an appointment when they didn't want one. gah.

got twinges that i think must be spd this week. i hope it doesn't get worse.

wilfrhodes · 28/09/2016 21:58

and thanks for the welcome, bigfam and popskipiekin!

StubbleTurnips · 28/09/2016 22:01

Yeah, I'm getting lots of kicks and the rolling makes me feel sick.

Just home after a long day in London, got Chinese food on the way home which I've gracefully shared with DH.
