Thank you all for your help yesterday I woke H up at 2am last night for a chat I was not able to sleep and needed to let out how I feel. It involved me crying for a good hour and then having a chat. I think he got the picture. He said he did not realise he did it or how I felt about it and promises to change. He is normally so good unless his mother is involved as he is a mummy's boy,

Regarding a coat I brought a brand new one on eBay for about £7 I did not mind spending that as it is only going to get a small wear. It's trousers I am trying to find. I don't like wearing jeans because they make me look big but struggle to find trousers.

Thanks, Tinkly! Will have to look for the panels at Boots for my off-duty coat, the idea with a tailor for more formal jackets is great, but knowing myself and my schedule I'll probably never get around to doing something like that. Myabe I'll just end up wearing a more informal coat at work for these months and they'll have to just accept it! that, or give me a higher salary so i can buy a formal maternity coat Grin

Love wow, £7 sounds v cheap! may have to check out Ebay too. Glad to hear that you had a chat with you DH and that he was being supportive! Sometimes I guess we don't know that our partners aren't always aware how we feel about things (especially not in a pregnant state when we change and go through something they've never experienced)

Babydreaming · 26/09/2016 16:05

So my usual size is a size 6 which clearly I am not fitting into at the moment! Ive actually just borrowed some loose fitting dresses size 10-12 from my sister and mum and they've also given me a winter coat/jacket too so I'm planning on just doing that, plus buying some thick maternity tights! If you know anyone a larger size perhaps ask to borrow some clothes?

Babydreaming · 26/09/2016 16:06

What are everyones thoughts on baby monitors? There are so many on the market and I'm not sure how much to spend! I don't know whether movement/breathing sensors will relax me or make me more anxious!

I bought a nice mac/coat from asda-george, it has a drawstring waist so size can be adjusted to look more fitted, or to make room for a bump Grin from past experience though my bump isn't going to grow much more. Someone said to me today they couldn't believe how small it was considering I have just over 10 weeks left, I thought to myself oh well in that case I wish you could hold it for a while!

December 2016 Babies - Thread 6: Growing bumps and looking for bargains
wilfrhodes · 26/09/2016 16:55

hello. hoping to sneak on to this thread with EDD 31st December.

eagerly reading everybody's tips about what to buy, as this is our first. we have made a list but too busy with decorating and trying to cram some fun stuff in during the last few weeks of freedom!

on the subject of maternity clothes, i'm pretty big anyway and prefer and empire line, so haven't had to get much in so far, but i'm now starting to struggle, espeically with the change in the weather.

on age differences, i am quite a bit younger than my siblings but had a cousin of a similar age. i always felt like i got the best of being an only child without actually being one.

SouthDownsSunshine · 26/09/2016 19:20

I bought a maternity coat when pregnant with dd (early Feb due date), and got lots of wear out of it. Especially because they're perfect for wearing over slings. It was only a cheap £30 one from asos.

There are lots of lovely capes on sale at the moment, that would work for maternity coats. Some are really smart and tailored.

baby we went for a video monitor with sensor pads last time, and we've got the same this time. Although this time we got the items separately as a bundle, as we weren't impressed with the angelcare one we had with dd.

barkingtreefrog · 26/09/2016 22:51

I've already started wearing DH's coats! Both our wardrobes are mainly outdoor type clothing, so I'll just nick his fleeces and down jackets instead of mine! I picked up a cheap waterproof in Decathlon that was mens medium so when I don't need it DH can leave it on the camper as a spare!
It doesn't matter what coat I wear to work as I take it off before I get in the office anyway, and on the rare occasion I need a smart coat I'll only be going from the car to a restaurant so can just wear one of my normal ones but not try and close it!!

Hello everyone - and welcome wilfrhodes :)
Been absent getting our new home unpacked. Some lovely neighbours and lots of young kids around so looks like it will be a great place for DC to grow up.

Love I'm glad you had that chat with DH, much better to get it out and get him on side. It astonishes me how MILs can behave sometimes. Knowing I will likely be one x2 in the future, I really hope I can be a "good" MIL.

To everyone having #3 or more DC, I take my hat off as this is #2 and we will probably stop here, although I do wonder whether when DS2 is about a year old I'll start itching for another... I really don't know how you stamp on broodiness when it would just not make sense to have one more. I'll just have to send DH away for two weeks of every month until the mood passes Grin

Bigfam · 27/09/2016 12:12

wilfrhodes. Welcome to our HUGE birth club Grin

I phoned about 5 different numbers this morning chasing my mw and in the end all I got was "let me take your number and someone will give you a call in a day or two" Angry This was a supervisor as well. On friday I will be phoning the actual maternity ward and telling them I want to be seen...

Lovewatchingrainfall · 27/09/2016 12:42

BigFam that is totally unacceptable and I do hope you put a formal complaint in! I would not wait till Friday I would call them today. Hope it gets sorted soon.

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/09/2016 12:45

I can't believe you still haven't been seen bigfam that's ridiculous!!

Bigfam · 27/09/2016 13:42

I don't know who else to contact or what to say, I really don't want to push too much & I'm really not confident enough to complain 😕 argh I don't know what to do! Thanks ladies x

Londonmamabychance · 27/09/2016 13:51

Bigfam that is outragous! why don't you just call the maternity ward now? Is this your local midwife care? I am being seen at the hospital rather than by the local midwife in my GP surgery, because I chose one not in my catchment area (UCLH) and the 28 week appointment didn't get booked so had to chase them, I called so many days in a row and the switchboard kept putting me through to the booking line, and then it just rang out and a few times was even picked up and then hung up to stop the phone ringing! In the end I told the main maternity service line about it and they took my details down and the appointment was booked for me without me having to talk to anyone. Having it tomorow at 29 weeks + 3. I think you're in your full right to call the maternity ward and tell them how long you've tried and push for the appointment. With the NHS, if you don't push for it, you don't get proper treatment half the time.

BTW is it at the 28 week appointmet you have the glucose test?

I went on Ebay yesterday to look for a maternity coat and saw one A-shaped one and it suddenly jogged my memory that I have a very old coat in that shape, dug it out from far behind a closet and although it's slightly worn out, it's quite smart and should defo fit the bump right through to the end! Bonus.

bigfam that's terrible!

I'm off work feeling ill all hot, tired, achey (first sick day in years) Building up to taking tomorrow off as well have to ring at 4pm to let head know (Im a teacher) struggling with worrying about backlog of work/ criticism from staff etc.

We are a literacy training school and I've got 12 primary teachers coming to watch my literacy lesson on Thursday so want to be right for that, eek!

Hate sick days :(

Popskipiekin · 27/09/2016 14:14

Tinklypoo I don't know about GTT being routine everywhere - it was routine at my previous trust, but at my new one it isn't. Here they do a random blood glucose around 28 weeks and if you come up above a certain level they send you for GTT, but otherwise they don't. Fortunately, despite my previous concerns, my recent random glucose was good so no GTT for me. I've lapsed my no sugar diet slightly as a result Grin but will continue to try to be good!

Bumplovin · 27/09/2016 14:43

love ive given up trying to be polite to people who really don't deserve it. Id have actually told you mil to either come round and do it herself or f right off and not bother visiting. Your house your rules! With people like that you need to give as good as you take. Next time you're invited for lunch Id send her a letter first specifying what you do and don't like about her cooking and what you'd prefer to eat.... Maybe a childish response but the fact you actually got up at 5Am to clean really angers me

Nojo82 · 27/09/2016 14:49

Gtt is only offered in my trust if you have risk factors. And its done between 26 and 28 weeks.

bigfam I hope you get sorted soon, how frustrating is that!!

Right girls, im wanting to know if any of you are having discharge. I told the doctor when i was in hospital and she took a swap incase i have an infection that would cause early labour. Never heard any more about it so assumed it was clear, but now its getting to me esp as its changed to a brown colour. Is this normal. Sorry if TMI..

Popskipiekin · 27/09/2016 15:14

Nojo I think you should check in with your midwife team about any funny discharge you're concerned about. I have had intermittent brown/pinky bleeding throughout this pregnancy - I just ignore it now as it seems to be the way my body does pregnancy, my cervix gets upset at the smallest thing. But you shouldn't ignore it if it's new for you, though to put your mind at rest brown is normally considered 'old' blood and therefore not as much of a concern as pink/red. The standard response is always to ask your midwife, it's so much better to check in than worry about it. Hope you can get some reassurance soon Flowers

Nojo82 · 27/09/2016 15:22

I knew someone would say get it checked lol. Ive had bad discharge all the way through, if i dont wear a pad i could change my underwear up to 4-5 times a day. Today its changed colour but i think ill hold off until tomorrow too see what happens..

SolomanDaisy · 27/09/2016 16:30

I've been getting loads of discharge all through. Mostly creamy coloured but loads of if! If you want to check the results of your hospital swabs, I think your midwife can look them up for you. I had some swabs taken in hospital after some bleeding at about this stage of my last pregnancy and my midwife checked the results for me.
