veryfriendlylion I bought the 0% bottles of San Miguel from Tesco and found them to satisfy my craving quite well! I also had a lager shandy once when I was out with a big group and found it to be equally as good!

Kitch82 · 23/09/2016 22:56

Trust and get some non-alc Schneider Weisse wheat beer, it's really good.

SouthDownsSunshine · 23/09/2016 23:01

You could always have one?

Londonmamabychance · 23/09/2016 23:25

Was going to say the same as South, I definitely had a glass of red wine several times on holiday!

Londonmamabychance · 23/09/2016 23:25

The alcohol recommendation in UK is a bit OTT in my opinion. A glass of wine or half a glass or one beat once in a lie moon won't do any harm : )

Londonmamabychance · 23/09/2016 23:26

*beer and one in a blue moon

Bumplovin · 23/09/2016 23:31

mozfan I requested an elective c section for a reason that I discussed with obstetrician sort of medical but not something that necessarily warranted one she didn't say yes straight away but told me that it was ultimately my choice. Print of the NICE guidelines regarding c sections and if you get into bother quote them that if you want a c section after understanding all the risks and they personally won't do one they are supposed to refer you to another consultant who will, it is supposed to be your choice.

Mozfan1 · 24/09/2016 07:04

Thank you so much bump I'm very nervous but I know it's the right decision for me after a lot of research

goinggrey1978 · 24/09/2016 08:49

Hi everyone, can't believe I'm fast approaching 28 weeks already, got my ant d injection and 28 weeks antenatal appointment on Monday at a completely different hospital than usual, not looking forward to the rush hour traffic on the way there, as it's on a road heading into London!!
Need a little advice, I'm thinking of going to the bath Christmas market with my family at the end of November during maternity leave, I'll be 37 weeks pregnant, won't have to drive, staying 2 nights in a hotel and its a 2 and half hour journey, I'm first time pregnant with first baby so I have no idea whether this is far to close to my due date and tempting fate or not??
Due date is 20/12/16
All advice welcome, need to decide this week as we have to book it!!

bumbleclat · 24/09/2016 08:53

Has anyone else had a flu and whooping cough injection?
My midwife recommended it but I'm worried they'll make me feel awful?

bumbleclat · 24/09/2016 08:54

goinggrey sounds absolutely lovely- I'd go for it!

Thisisbonkers · 24/09/2016 09:06

goinggrey I'd go 😊

bumbleclat I've had my whooping cough and i was absolutely fine afterwards. Arm was a little bruisey afterwards, not visibly but was a little sore to sleep on. Flu jab will be next week and I've been fine when I've had it in the past so not worried about that either.

SolomanDaisy · 24/09/2016 09:09

Do you have to make a decision now goinggrey? I wouldn't be too worried about the risk of labour, just whether you'll feel up to the car journey and long days of wandering around.

SolomanDaisy · 24/09/2016 09:11

We usually have a day at one of the German Xmas markets, but I'm pretty sure I won't make it this year!

StubbleTurnips · 24/09/2016 09:12

I had my 28w appoitnment yesterday, midwife asked if I had any more growth scans booked and didn't seem sure when I didn't. Did say that he seems normal though - funny how such a simple question seems to make you feel anxious! Then went on to say she wanted to see me again in 4 weeks not 6.

going bath sounds lovely, we went away at that point last time - I took my hospital bag and car seat just in case, and made sure I knew the nearest hospital.

bumble you've reminded me to book my flu vax, need to get DD done too - we all got bad colds last year and I want to avoid flu!!

Bigfam · 24/09/2016 09:17

goinggrey1978 sounds lovely, if you feel up to it you should go! Just take your hospital notes with you just in case!(aren't we supposed to carry our notes now anyway, I haven't been but will if I remember) my first baby was born at 37+3, I wasn't ready 😆
Whooping cough does give you a dead arm, not sure about flu jab but I'll be having mine sometime next week.

My craving is options belgian hot chocolate, I'm sat here drinking a litre sized mug 😆 after eating maple syrup pancakes. Feeling a bit weird, keep getting horrible achey period type pains in my back 😦

Azure83 · 24/09/2016 09:20

bumble I had whooping cough last Mon, as bonkers said, arm was a bit bruised and a little bump for couple of days, definitely couldn't sleep on that side but no other issues. Had my anti-d a week later in my thigh because arm was still bruised but again, no problems. Will have a flu jab in a couple of weeks. Trying to spread all these things out a bit!!

Bigfam · 24/09/2016 09:20

Also, I'm getting really frustrated with my mw, I text and called her AGAIN yesterday and rang the maternity ward she works from, who said they'd pass on a message (even though I'd already left one monday) I'm 29 weeks now and haven't had my bloods, urine, bp or fundal height checked and have no clue when I will!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 24/09/2016 10:12

I had no choice with the whooping cough jab, was told it was 'required' by my MW. Also having flu jab which makes sense.. only I appear to be having them both in the same appointment next week!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 24/09/2016 10:18

Bigfam I hope you get to see he midwife soon! If not just ring the doctors or hospital up and explain! You need to be seen soon.

SolomanDaisy · 24/09/2016 10:53

That's pretty shocking BigFam. I'd be tempted to contact the supervisor of midwives. I'm now on fortnightly midwife visits, soon to move to weekly. I find it a bit much to be honest, but it's the standard here. On top of weekly physio, intro meetings with the kraamzorg and growth scans, I'm averaging two or three pregnancy-related appointments a week which seems crazy!

goinggrey1978 · 24/09/2016 11:37

bumbleclat, thanks i', 95% sure i'll go to the bath Christmas markets, family want me to check with the midwife or consultant before we book it, i'm looking forward to it as i'd like to make my place more christmasy especially for bubble being due so near Christmas, as all i have is a tree and 2 ornaments that sit on top of the tv!! i had the whooping cough injection on Wednesday and still have a sore arm, refused the flu injection as i've only had flu once in the 23 years i've worked with children and don't want to take or do anything i don't really need to!!

bigfam, yes i was going to take my hospital notes and hospital bag and i'm quite excited about it all, something to look forward to and to keep me busy during maternity leave too!!

StubbleTurnips, yes i did wonder about taking the car seat as well as the hospital notes and the hospital bag, but then i thought my parents would probably drive to the hospital anyway if the event arrived.

SolomanDaisy, yes have to decide this week, luckily another family member is lined up to take my place if i can't go or i'm too tired, also its close family and they will look after me, just as they have done throughout the whole ivf process and catching the gastroenteritis bug at the beginning of my pregnancy, they are very excited relatives, first niece or nephew for them!!

Thisisbonkers, thanks!

thanks for all your advice, i'll see what the midwife or consultant say as well on monday!!

goinggrey1978 · 24/09/2016 12:00

StubbleTurnips, don't worry too much about extra midwife appointments, its a good thing to be monitored, i've got appointments now at 28weeks, 31weeks and 34weeks, then every 2 weeks after that, plus thyroid appointments, growth scan also at 34 weeks and anti d appointment on monday too, so feel like i'm constantly at the hospital but its all very reassuring as well!!

Bigfam · 24/09/2016 12:35

It is starting to stress me out, I think I'll wait til wednesday and call back the maternity ward where I'm booked in for the birth. I can't imagine the amount of worry someone in this situation would be in if they'd had pregnancies with previous problems (& I'm blessed that I haven't) I don't want to be a strain or cause any fuss but I do feel like I should have at least had a phone call..
