Bigfam, my DS pressed his feet into my stomach this morning and the baby kicked back! He is pretty good at remembering, but he's a giant five year old so when he forgets it can be hard.

Nojo, that sounds grim. I've started to feel breathless lying on my back too, it's not nice.

Bigfam · 20/09/2016 20:41

Gah, since posting that I've been elbowed at least 10 times. Does anyone know anything about cold sores? Dd3 has them and I'm starting to worry!
Hope you get time to relax south and dd is soon asleep for you

DartmoorDoughnut · 20/09/2016 20:59

According to this Bigfam it's potentially dangerous if you haven't had them before now - that's just a scan read though! I worry as my FIL has them but he's very good at keeping his distance from us all when he does. I guess that's a tad harder with a toddler!

goinggrey1978 · 20/09/2016 21:11

I'm a belly sleeper too, but haven't slept on my belly since the pee on the stick way back on April 16th, I found I couldn't breathe, yes very large boobs causing that problem plus I can't sleep flat either, head has to be propped up on 3 pillows, sleep on either side til I get uncomfortable and then swap sides, with my v pillow between my legs and pillows either side to hold me into a side sleeping position!! Luckily I have no husband or partner atm, as there's no room for them on my bed as there's so many pillows!!

Bigfam · 20/09/2016 21:33

I'm sure all my dc have had them at some point so I'd think I already carry the virus? I hate looking on google, I know I should only pay attention to the NHS pages but I then find myself clicking on the horror stories I should avoid!
I still manage to sleep on my belly sometimes (just about)

Bigfam · 20/09/2016 21:34

Thanks for that link dartmoor now I don't have to google it! Grin

Got diagnosed with diabetes yesterday in end, having eggs for breakfast instead of my usual cereal :)

DartmoorDoughnut · 21/09/2016 08:09

Had an amazing nights sleep last night due to exhaustion from getting maybe a couple of hours the night before thanks to a combination of DH's snoring, DS joining us in bed and kicking me out and restless legs. Yesterday was bought to you thanks to coffee & sugar today thanks to having he bed to myself all night and sleep, yay!

Nojo82 · 21/09/2016 08:40

Aw becci thats crap. I get my results today.. have you joined the fb page. Its great and has a website with recipes etc..

becciandbump · 21/09/2016 08:48

nojo yeah I know I'm a bit worried about the risks it brings with it but just need to focus on doing some exercise and eating differently the GD facebook support group is fab ive already learnt loads from it I was hardly told anything at the hospital.

Nojo82 · 21/09/2016 09:36

Londonmamabychance · 21/09/2016 10:05

Sounds lovely to be in NYC, Elodie!

Bigfam I've suffered with cold sores my whole life. Theyn tend to pop up epscially in pregnancy as immune defence is low. Try to avoid kissing and touching your child's lip and don't share food, utensils, cups or towels etc. Treat them with Zovir cream, and make sure the child gets more rest than usual as they tend to be a sign of lowered immune defence, as you alweays have the virus in your body and then they crop up when you're weak. Also, I found (and research supports this) that nuts and soy products provoke them, and that meat and leafy greens help. Never heard they should be dangerous, but then I had them since childhood so when I ahd them in pregnancy it was not the first time. Also - and this is just my theory - but I think some people are just more prone to them than others. My mum, sis and I all have them, and my dad never had them, and I'm sure that through all the years of living with all three of us, he's been plenty exposed to the virus! So maybe you already have the virus in your body but it just doesn't break out for you.

Also finding it so hard to sleep, wake up to pee all the time and find DH presence in bed really annoying! I normally love cuddling up to him, but for some (prob hormone related reason) I know find that he takes up too much space and spend the entire night pushing the poor man to the edge of the bed and complaining I don't have space enough Blush

Also, anyone finding it really ahrd to focus on work?`I was the same last time, around this time I just sort of stop caring, it's so hard to have any motivation! I also become crazily honest, my boss just asked if I fancied going to some event next week in the eve, and I straight out told him that that particualr event was mainly a networking thing and din't entail anything of substance realted to my job, so I didn't want to prioritise it given I am going on mat leave soon! after he left I felt I'd been way too honest and done a blunder...

Thisisbonkers · 21/09/2016 12:15

I can't sleep with these blasted pillows. I end up far too hot, dripping in sweat. Shame as it's quite comfy. Also a pain when trying to discombobulate myself from them when getting up for a pee!

I have a white board behind my desk with the number of days I have left in the office boldly displayed Grin

SolomanDaisy · 21/09/2016 12:44

The pillows are a real hassle for turning over during the night. Even worse if DS is in the bed as I often find he's attached himself to an end of the pillow, so I have to promise him off too.

Sorry to hear about your GD becci. I hope you get it under control with diet.

We have someone here this week doing things like adding sockets in what's going to be the nursery. It's quite exciting because it means after this we can actually sort the room out and start feeling prepared!

StubbleTurnips · 21/09/2016 12:53

London I am currently a terrible employee, I wfh too so always have workerd harder to prove I'm at work IYSWIM. Currently, I can not focus on any task and blagged how busy I am so I can nap / walk the dog.

Also can't stop eating monster munch.

ElodieS · 21/09/2016 13:22

Thanks all! I'm staying in a hotel and the bed is SO comfy with tonnes of pillows to prop myself up, I also have it all to myself, which is amazing! Not sure how I'm going to adjust when it's time to share with DP again... Not quite adjusted to the timezone yet and was up very early this morning so went a bit wild on Frugi, Polarn O Pyret and Boden for DTs and the new baby. DP will get a shock when all the packages start arriving!

I've had coldsores for most of my adult life bigfam and never knew it was a particular issue in pregnancy, but amazingly DTs and DP have never caught them. Apparently there's a light machine from Boots that works amazingly, but I haven't tried it yet: www.boots.com/en/Boots-Electronic-Cold-Sore-Machine_1129542/

Hope you're doing ok Nojo and sorry to hear about the GD Becci!

veryfriendlylion · 21/09/2016 13:25

Can totally empathise with the feeling at work...I have become so foggy headed and I've always had a really good memory so I'm finding it very frustrating.

I was quite astounded by how much I needed to wee last night. I deliberately stopped an hour before before bed but was up every twenty mins until about 2.30 needing a wee. And it wasn't even just the need to wee, I did a wee! DH got very freaked out at the strong movements he can now feel baby making, slightly worried he's going to faint during the birth!

On the plus side I am hiding from school for a couple of hours having a snooze as the children all have matches this afternoon Grin

OrianaBanana · 21/09/2016 13:31

Baby is continuing with the strong movements these last few days, today has been particularly bad (or good, depending) with quite painful swirls and jarring pokes. I have no idea what she is doing in there. I make very strange faces in meetings and can't stop myself wincing or saying 'ow' every now and again...

KitKat1985 · 21/09/2016 13:40

Ahhh yes work. I was off work last week and I really didn't want to go back. I've had enough now and just keep wanting to know when my last day is (I still don't know if my holiday before my official mat leave starts has been approved) so sent an e-mail yesterday to chase it. I'm really, really hoping they will let be go late October (my due date is 28th Nov) so I can have at least a couple of weeks to chill before baby arrives.

Oh, and I am also fed up with peeing. It's like every half an hour in the day sometimes, and I must be up at least 10 times a night right now.

StubbleTurnips · 21/09/2016 13:46

Glad the work thing isn't only me.... 37 working days left!

We're working through a merger and there's a maternity policy change muted, it's going to be a worse deal than currently, I'm hoping it comes in the new year so I can keep my original maternity package.

Bigfam · 21/09/2016 14:38

Apparently cold sores are dangerous to newborns though. I'm pooped, just bought some new cupboards and put them up and was intending to start washing and putting her clothes away, but will definitely have to wait til tomorrow, I think she's annoyed with me for doing too much, she must have just done a somersault in there, I saw bits sticking out all over the place & it was very uncomfortable!

Londonmamabychance · 21/09/2016 16:01

had no idea cold sores were dangerous to newborns! Shock I'm glad you told me. Pretty sure I had them with DD and was just careful not to kiss her, but didn't panick, thisn time I'll be even more careful if I get one! Really trying to get rest and not tire myself out so I get ill, though.

The worst thing about my job right now is that what's normally a privilege, having your own office, turns into a curse, because it's soooooooo hard to motivate myself when no one can even see what I'm doing! I'm giving myself little deadlines like, you have to finish this report before you can have lunch. You have to do this task before you are allowed to look at more baby/kids clothes online Grin

SolomanDaisy · 21/09/2016 16:33

A friend of mine's baby ended up in hospital with herpes caught from a cold sore. I had no idea how dangerous it was until then.
