*chose, not choose

SouthDownsSunshine · 13/09/2016 20:34

We had a really expensive angelcare mat sensor with video for dd, but found the video almost impossible to get in the right place, and after only 2 years there isn't enough battery in the parent set to use it downstairs.

This time we've bought a package of a Motorola video monitor and a binatone sensor set. The sensor set is supposed to be really good, which we want given the additional needs of our baby.

Had my anti d this morning and felt fine all day but this evening I feel like I've got period pain. I had really painful braxton hicks in the night and this feels like the same again. Not sure if it's linked to the anti d, or what. DH has gone to the pub, and I don't want to call him back if it's nothing. The pain is bearable but very present, if that makes sense!?

Bigfam · 13/09/2016 20:50

SouthDownsSunshine that makes complete sense, I really hate braxton hicks. Preparing your body for labour? Nope, just scaring the crap out of you more like! I had them in my last pregnancy and they were painful. Hope they ease up.

SouthDownsSunshine · 13/09/2016 21:00

Thanks bigfam, reassuring to hear I'm not alone in having painful ones.

Bigfam · 13/09/2016 21:05

Mine were always worse when I didn't drink enough fluids throughout the day, I even went in a couple of times and was monitered & they showed up on the machine. If you do get worried though or they get more intense/become regular, it's probably worth letting your dh and labour ward know.

OrianaBanana · 13/09/2016 21:06

I've had dull period pain on and off all day (no anti-D yet) but not sharp like that. When's your next m/w appointment?

I had my whooping cough jab yesterday, I feel a little dizzy today but that may be coincidental (I've been to London and back on the train and SO BASTARDING HOT!). Bed now (but I can't lie on left now as my arm is too sore, aargh!)

BowSurprise · 13/09/2016 21:06

Southdowns I've had anti d twice so far and not had any pains other than slightly in that arm so it shouldn't be that. Hope it doesn't last long.

barkingtreefrog · 13/09/2016 21:16

Not checked on for a couple of days and had two pages to catch up on!
What was the random deleted post about?!

nojo please tell me you're home now?!?

I'm with all those not having a clue how I'm going to manage another three months of getting bigger, I'm seriously struggling already! I went swimming before work this morning (very early start) and I'm totally exhausted. Just said to DH 'Sorry, I'm a total waste of space tonight, I'm just going to give up and go to bed' and he laughed and said 'you don't need to put 'tonight' in front of that!' Bloody cheek!!
Very glad I decided on earlier maternity leave. 5 weeks 3 days and counting....

London yep, got piles badly. I'm using anusol cream and it's not doing anything to get rid of them, but it does help the pain and gets rid of the itching.

Bonkers I'm not getting the hormonal swings at all. I'm quite baffled by it and so is DH! I've had no irrational outbursts or teary episodes at all. His theory is that all the ivf drugs I've been taking for the last few years have made my current hormone levels seem normal!! I've had hideous hormonal crashes after every previous cycle when coming off the drugs, so perhaps my body quite likes the current hormone levels!!

Peanut apparently MiL has bought us a baby monitor but I have no idea which one she got!

South braxton hicks sound terrifying... Hope it eases up soon x.

OP posts:
SolomanDaisy · 13/09/2016 21:26

South, I've been having painful Braxton hicks too. I think it's so hot here at the minute that it's making it worse. I can actually feel my stomach harden and contract with them. I read that they're worse in second pregnancies.

SouthDownsSunshine · 13/09/2016 21:31

Thinking about it I don't think it's connected to the anti d, as I had them badly a week or so ago, plus last night. I wonder if it's exercise related - I did pilates yesterday, and this evening I took delivery of our grocery shop, bending down and picking up some heavy stuff like 4x2l water bottles.

Going to bed soon, hoping they don't wake me in the night again.

SouthDownsSunshine · 13/09/2016 21:34

bigfam if they continue tomorrow I think I'll call my midwife to get it checked out. It might be worth me getting checked for a uti in case that's triggering the pain, I guess. Got a non-pregnancy hospital appointment in London tomorrow that I don't want to miss!

Bigfam · 13/09/2016 21:35

Yep, doing too much also made mine worse as well.
I never experienced them in my 1st 2nd or 3rd, they are quite scary. Hope you both manage to get some sleep (south and soloman & anyone with aches and pains!)

bumbleclat · 14/09/2016 05:42

I'm up early with very acidic stomach, trapped wind and bad dreams.
I think I overdid it yesterday, working 7-6 at school then food shopping, grabbing something to eat quickly.
I need to slow down a bit and stop trying to spin so many plates.
No kicks from babe yesterday but was so busy I don't think I'd have noticed if there were. (6 months preg today)
Another long day ahead with a staff meeting at the end. I hope I can find some way to scive a bit rest.

duxb · 14/09/2016 06:45

Hi all.

Nojo hope you are okay and home now. South sorry to hear about the Brandon hicks but don't think it's anti-d related as I had mine over a week ago and nothing. Whooping cough was also last week and the pain in the arm only lasted a day or too. I'm 29+4 today and movements have changed, so after a day or so of uhming and ahming, called triage yesterday and they asked me to go in. Both me and baby monitored up for just over half an hour. Was good to see baby movements recorded even when I wasn't feeling them and HR etc was all normal. They also measured me for any uterine contractions and everything looks good. They were so helpful/reassuring so if anyone has any worries, please call. I didn't at all feel like i had wasted anyone's time

Lovewatchingrainfall · 14/09/2016 08:35

Why are doctors always late, I had my first blood test booked for 8am and have just had it at 8:35. I think it's going to be a long 2 hours

SolomanDaisy · 14/09/2016 08:50

How irritating lovewatching, the one time you really don't want the dr to be late is when you're pregnant and counting down the two hours to breakfast!

I've finally booked physio for my SPD, starting on Monday. It was a minor help last time, but the NHS physio wasn't very interventionist. Physios here are more into manual therapy, so I'm hoping it will help more. Should be able to go once a week.

The mother of one of the boys in my DS's class had a baby last week and today the kraamzorg was taking him to school! I'm quite excited about having one, they come for 6-8 hours every day for a week after the birth, help you with the baby, keep an eye on your health and help out with housework. DS was born in England, so this will be our first experience with one.

SouthDownsSunshine · 14/09/2016 08:58

That sounds amazing Solomon! Remind me what country you're in?

Pain eased overnight but came back after walking to station with heavy backpack, and waiting 15 minutes for a train... I'm going to give midwife a call to get it checked. But I need to be in London for work tomorrow as well so not sure how I'll fit it in.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 14/09/2016 09:11

Soloman that sounds amazing.

South that does not sound too good, I would try and get checked out. Just to put your mind at rest.

Why is it when you can't eat all you can think about is food.

SouthDownsSunshine · 14/09/2016 09:13

Oh no love, just think of the big fry up you'll be able to have in a few hours .... I hope they don't keep you waiting for your next test.

StubbleTurnips · 14/09/2016 09:14

Nojo hope you're feeling better

I can sympathise with whoever was in London yesterday, I was there and back on the early / late train and it was stifling. Not sure how all you down south cope. Train home had no aircon either so I must've lost a stone through the tube and that! Grin Got back into Warrington and it was torrential rain so then got drenched walking to the car Hmm

Only 37 working days left.

SolomanDaisy · 14/09/2016 09:15

I'm in the Netherlands. There's a theory that everyone getting a kraamzorg contributes to the Dutch being the tallest people in the world, as it ensures all babies get a healthy start. I think I've read that Dutch mothers are amongst the happiest in the world too!

Hope you can fit in a check with the midwife south.

KitKat1985 · 14/09/2016 09:58

Hello all.

Nojo I hope you are doing okay and the hospital are thinking of discharging you?

SouthDowns sorry to hear about all the pains.

Re: TENs machine. I probably will get one again as I had one for DD. I do think it helped a bit for the early stage contractions, (or at least was a good distraction), but not convinced it would have helped much for the later contractions (the midwives had taken it off at this point though to put me on a monitor, so I don't really know). Probably more worth it for first time Mums I would have thought as the first stage of labour can take quite a long time in your first labour.

We have a BT monitor for DD and luckily don't have to buy another one as the baby will be in with us for a while anyway, and then DD and baby will be sharing a room. I do recommend it though (although I have to be honest and say we don't really use the fancy features on it like the light display etc as much as we thought we would).

Have done a lot of walking the past couple of days and I'm really noticing now my hips and back hurting now when I'm on my feet for long periods. I potentially may only have about 10 weeks to go now though if baby is born at 39 weeks like DD. I feel woefully under-prepared for this.... Shock With DD I was really focused on being pregnant and spent weeks planning and reading baby books, and have hardly done anything this time around!

KitKat1985 · 14/09/2016 09:59

Oh and a kraamzorg sounds amazing!

SouthDownsSunshine · 14/09/2016 10:05

I really want a kraamzorg! Is it too late to move to the Netherlands?! I have my mother staying, which obviously dh is ecstatic about...! Not sure it'll be quite the same as having an expert helping.
