Pulapula - Im smiling here at the thought of your darling sister bumping her cot over to poke you! how cute! i am sure that being in the same room will enable your little one to bond with her sister and make for some serious acting up when the mood takes them

Emmyb - you should have come and joined my party...looks like im playing alone again this morning but it is only 3.38! i guess its good training for when LO is here but I so wish I could get some sleep! LO is awake now and having a bounce around!
Im glad you resolved the childminder/cleaner situation. I know its going to be hard but if she means that much to you (and I am sure that you would rather leave your little ones with someone you trust) then it has to be worth it. Use her as much as you can and make sure you get something for your money and just remember that she was just looking out for her family too.

Miaou - its so easy to over do it, isnt it? I have been too lately and sometimes you just need to down tools!
Easter hunt sounds wonderful!

Justaboutmanaging - thinking of you. If its any help, a friend of mine had the very same thing. She had a very worrying time which turned out fine. Seems that her waters had effectively broken/leaked but after a scan all was well and she is now 35 weeks and doing fine. Good luck and be sure to let us know that you are okay.

Welcome farfaraway, you are very close to my due date so we may be the only ones left on this thread nearer the time!

Happy Easter all!

Auntymandy - 5 children and a hubby and pregnant! You get my vote for Mum of the year thats for sure!

auntymandy · 08/04/2007 08:21

Happy Easter all of you.
DS3 nattering to go in the garden to see if the Easter Bunny has left anything!!
He has gone to try wake Daddy!!! Good luck to him, hope he manages where I always seem to fail!!!

How come I am the one that is 6 months pregnant and has to get up ebvery morning, while he lies in. then he is always so tired whne it comes to running after the little DS's at the park!!!!
Sorry to grumble.
I feel 'word' coming on!!!!!

Caroline1852 · 08/04/2007 11:03

MY LO disco dancing in the early hours too! Went to bed at about 10.30 totally exhausted but still awake at around 1am with LO. Annoying isn't it?

typhoonsmum · 08/04/2007 11:05

Happy Easter everyone!

The Easter Bunny has borrowed Santa's special key and hid the eggs IN our house! Can't be bothered going out at 7am to hide eggs that the neighbourhood cat will probably pee on before DD finds them.

DH is also in bed "wanting to slob" while I am downstairs trying to ration DD chocolate intake. Need to go up to see my mum later, when I finally get the SLOB out of his pit to drive me there.

Here's to nice chilled Easter Sundays all round

p.s. I'm going to Chester Zoo with my NHS discount tomorrow. I'm SOO excited. Went to the circus on Thursday Evening too. (How old am I again)

Just reading back about the decorating of nurseries.

Splodge is going into the box room where DSD's bed is but she hasn't stayed over since we got back from holiday in September. DP wants to move her bed into DD's room (which is quite big) I'm not prepared to reduce the space in DD's room for a bed that is hardly used. I want to chuck DSD bed and get a camp-sofa bed in DD's room for DSD.

Any other ideas?

auntymandy · 08/04/2007 14:20

Think a sofa bed is a good idea.

pulapula · 08/04/2007 17:53

Typhoonsmum,

I would get a sofa bed then DD can use it to sit on and read books etc when its not needed.

We went to Chester Zoo on Wednesday with DD (her first time in a zoo). We had a really nice day and were surprised that her favourite animal was a rhino and we had to visit it 3 times! She also loved the elephants, penguins and reptiles.

I would just advise to get there early (or late) to avoid the queues but they weren't as bad as we were expecting at 11am and we stayed til 4.30 too, so a full day out really, as it was 2 hours each way in the car too. Enjoy!

JennySpringster · 08/04/2007 21:40

I loved Chester Zoo last time I went a few years ago. The bat cave is amazing.

Dear All, just a quick apology for the lack of weekly stats this week, tbh totally forgot due to bank holiday and being out of routine etc.

Good news is we pretty much managed to clear out the office where the nursery will be going. Just got heaps of stuff selling on ebay and piled up in the utility room ready to go to a car boot sale on the next free Sunday we have.

Hoping to make lots of money with my ebay stuff though as have bitten the bullet and bought a Phil n Teds E3 explorer - have been hankering after one for ages and feel much better now one is on it's way.

Had a great easter (way too much chocolate though...) and DS has learnt a new phrase 'noc-late bunny'... v cute!

justaboutmanaging good luck with your scan tomorrow, I've got one on Friday...

auntymandy · 10/04/2007 05:23

morning!
Anyone else cant sleep?

Jamantha · 10/04/2007 08:07

HAVE had problems sleeping Aunty Mandy, but slept fairly soundly last night for a change. With lovely dreams about a variety of celebs (if DH reads this he'll guess who)! Was very welcome not to be woken in the night with need to pee, indigestion etc. Had short spell of restlessness due to overheating but DH opened the window and all was calm again.

Abgirl - am about almost clear nursery. Our spare room/nursery-to-be is FULL of junk still. But we have my dad coming to decorate for us (thanks Dad!!) late May, so time to get it clear still. Trouble is most of the stuff needs to go into 2 of the downstairs rooms which also need decorating. Was hoping to get them done first then move stuff downstairs, then decorate upstairs, but not sure that's going to happen. It's like one of those puzzles with one piece missing and you have to slide everything else around back and forth to get the bits in the right place.

abgirl · 10/04/2007 08:09

Jamantha, we have been very ruthless about getting rid of 'stuff', particularly books that I have been hoarding for years! It is quite liberating to sit in an office that is practically clear now. I had a good night's sleep too in spite of DS's best efforts - he's been rubbish at sleeping since the clocks went forwards...

Jamantha · 10/04/2007 08:15

We've off-loaded about 200 books so far ab-girl, and a double bed. I agree about that good feeling. Still got all my old Open University work, about 400 DVDs, a record player, amplifier and speakers, another pile of books still, some bedding and curtains to rehouse within the house, plus a load to recycle/bin as appropriate, and a big pile of stuff as yet to be decided if it's for keeps or not.

typhoonsmum · 10/04/2007 08:43

Chester Zoo was a nightmare. Maybe going on Bank Holiday monday was a bad idea. We got stuck in three traffic jams on the way there. It should have took about 20 minutes to get there. It took 2 hours. The staff had to open up car parks on the fields. The queues to get in were unbelieveable.(It was 11.30) You had to queue to get in ANYWHERE. Was in line for the toilet for ten minutes.
DD threw a paddy as DH had the map and she wanted to see the giraffes. Unfortunately the Giraffes where at the end of his expedition, and no-one was changing HIS route! Was on the verge of feeding her to the rhinos but they looked so peaceful it would be a shame to disturb them.
Took MIL with us and she was worst of all. Telling me how DD was never like this when she minded her. She was always as good as gold. I wanted to turn and scream at her "Well she is an absolute cow with us when she wants to be. A true Jekkell and Hyde." DH was telling me not to shout at DD. The hormones were on the rampage by now. Felt like screaming at him too. Talking calmly and nicely to a screaming, kicking four year old won't work. She just screams over you.
Bat Cave was great but when you have fully grown women screaming at the breeze thinking it was a bat it doesn't help the children be calm. Think I muttered under my breath "Oh Shut Up" at someone but must have been louder than I thought as she turned round and looked at me. OOPS.
DD and DSD enjoyed the day thou so it was good overall. Getting home was much better. Only took half hour including stop off at Tesco. NO TRAFFIC JAMS!
Going to New Brighton Fun Fair today as MIL says DD loves the bumpy slide and wants me to see it before I go back to work. (I'm off till 24 April! )

abgirl · 10/04/2007 12:59

eeek, typhoonsmum that sounds like a nightmare! Think I would have taken myself off for some nice cake and a coffee somewhere quiet!! We are taking DS to a farm tomorrow as it's his second birthday, hopefully will be peaceful and relaxing. Hope the rest of your holiday is better!

agnesnitt · 10/04/2007 14:15

I'm taking the four year old to the local farm thingie this week. We're gatecrashing the community centre trip as they have spaces on the bus and are more than happy to let people crash if they're willing to pay for their seats

Should be a giggle, picnic and wellies and we will be set

The uterine inhabitant is still tunnelling, little swine...

emmyb · 10/04/2007 18:55

typhoonsmum how familiar is that phrase from IL "well shes really good with me" along with "oh it wont do her any harm, dont be so cruel"

typhoonsmum · 11/04/2007 08:49

She threw another paddy at the fun fair yesterday. MIL and I agreed only one ride as we had to get home. DD went on one and got off and promptly asked for another. I said no we had to go. At that point DSD and her friend came up and asked for another ride and MIL let them. This made DD worse.
I couldn't give in so I said no. DD started to cry. Instantly MIL said she'd give her another ride. I said "No. I've said no you can't override me". She threw an almightly arm flying everywhere paddy. Took her to a bedge to get her to calm down and she was screaming like a banshee. Then two little old ladies starting interferring. "You've seen it on the telly haven't you. You can't give in to them. You have to wait for her to calm down. You're doing the right thing love and you haven't once smacked her"
I was sorely tempted too but there was a lot of people around and I am determined it doesn't really help.
She settled down after about ten minutes and in the meantime DSD and her friend had gone on another ride! Then i felt bad as DD had missed out but we agreed one ride and I'd said No

Did I do the right thing!

It just makes me wonder what she does when I'm at work and why DD is "As good as gold". Prob cos she gets her own way all the time.
