so glad to read that this morning, SuperDuper

as regards the buggy, it'll only really be for school runs. So the doorway thing isn't so important, they won't be going into shops in it, just back and forth the school 3 times a day (one in nursery/preschool, the other in year 2).

I just need to be able to get my (half-sized) 1 year old into a buggy with the new baby because it's too far for her to walk and I'd ideally like to be able to leave anyone who falls asleep on the school run (20 min each way, depending on the 3 year old's behaviour) in the buggy to finish their nap.

Peanut
the sense of smell thing is one of the first pregnancy symptoms I ever noticed.

Apparently it's to keep us safe from eating food that's on the turn etc.

SpanielLedWeaning · 08/08/2016 10:57

peanut I have a super sense of smell too.

Didn't help that I left a banana in my work locker last Tuesday and only found it today (work part time). Took all my willpower to pick it up and put it in the bin without gagging!

KatGrey · 08/08/2016 11:00

Wornoutboots

That makes a lot of sense! The sense of smell I noticed almost straight away, I generally have quite a weak sense of smell and suddenly it was like it was turned up. Glad to know that there is a good reason for it.

Super
Was really glad to read that everything is ok!

It is such a weird, nerve-wracking time and is so helpful to get support and be able to access medical help when we need it (another massive fan of the NHS)! I have my booking appointment tomorrow, thank you to everyone's previous advise on what to expect.

charlybs · 08/08/2016 11:06

Hi everyone,

I'm 9 weeks today and (totally jinxing it) I think my nausea is calming down a bit. I've never gone this long without feeling terrible. Doubt it's gone completely but if it could ease off I'll take that!

Currently sat here in my new maternity jeans because I'm so bloated Blushplease no one judge me haha X

neonrainbow · 08/08/2016 11:28

Charly no judging from me, as soon as i havevtime to go to the shops im buying some mat jeans!!

Butterpuff · 08/08/2016 11:36

Whose jeans do you have charlybs mine were so uncomfortable last time round I hardly wore them. I am all about the leggings in the winter and the empire dress in the summer.

Carolann8584 · 08/08/2016 11:42

Really struggling today ladies, feel so exhausted. Am in work and they don't know yet so its really zapping any energy I have to keep "normal" when really just want to sleep. I don't know whether I'm coming or going today so tired yet really restless and agitated yet surprisingly calm!! so am all over the place.

Carolann8584 · 08/08/2016 11:54

OK, getting worse, just thrown up in the ladies, luckily nobody else was there, really shaky. going on lunch in 5, need the fresh air xx

Butterpuff · 08/08/2016 11:56

Sorry to hear that carolann hope the fresh air helps. If needs be can you tell them you have food poisoning and go home for a rest?

charlybs · 08/08/2016 12:04

Butterpuff I've got skinny jeans from H&M. They're more like jeggings as they're very stretchy and quite thin.

Carolann if I were in your position I'd definitely tell work you were sick and go home! Not worth putting yourself through it X

Dozygirl · 08/08/2016 12:09

peanutbutter the heightened sense of smell is my main pregnancy symptom and it lasts the whole way for me. Means anything gross smelling is extra gross and can smell it a mile off. So grim.

Carolann8584 · 08/08/2016 12:46

Thanks for the comments ladies. It's nice to have someone to talk to as nobody in work knows

Had some fresh air and my trusty jacket potatoe and feel much better, will see how long it lasts Smile xx

NameChange30 · 08/08/2016 12:53

Carolann Hope you feel better this afternoon, but if not just go home sick!

I'm tired of feeling tired (!) and getting very impatient for my 12 week scan, I feel like I'm in limbo until then because it just doesn't feel real enough.

alphabook · 08/08/2016 13:23

Peanut I'm also massively sensitive to smells at the moment, when normally my sense of smell is quite weak. I've told DH he has to leave the room if he wants to fart!! I'm 10+5 and apparently the baby now has a sense of smell, wonder if it can also smell his stinky farts!

Glad you're feeling a bit better Carolann but go home if you're struggling, no point being there if you're not well enough to work.

Feeling ok this afternoon, still shattered but might have a nap when I finish work, not eaten much other than Jacket potatoes in the past couple of weeks, tried adding beans or fish to it a couple of times but my appetite has completely disappeared. Having dry cereal for breakfast as cant handle milk at the moment, Toast with peanut butter is ok on occasion.

Made my OH a Bacon and egg barm for breakfast yesterday, it smelt amazing! I'm avoiding eggs but an extra slice of bacon on for me to try, the dog enjoyed most of it lol
x

SuperDuperJezebel · 08/08/2016 16:06

Ugh the sense of smell... I'm convinced I smell of BO permanently! Have told my best friend after the hundredth time of being reassured that I'm going to try to ignore it but she must tell me immediately if I really do! I just had my first midwife appt and I'm really impressed. Will need to see consultant a couple of times because of high BP but it's very personalised. See same midwife each time, they come to your house for appts, you call them when you go into labour and they come to you to check whether you need to go into hospital yet. Then come to the hospital and do delivery when you're ready.

Bought myself some stretchy trousers and some under bump jeggings from next, the jeggings are too big ATM but I figured I might as well get them now. Have a massive H&M order on the way too, can't wait to be in tops that fit!

Dozygirl · 08/08/2016 16:15

super that sounds brilliant. The coming to your house while in labour seems an especially fab idea seeing as a lot of people go in and get sent home all the time. You sound like you're lucky with the area you live in.

SuperDuperJezebel · 08/08/2016 16:20

Definitely, I think they cover quite a small area and she said its a bit of a postcode lottery so I'm really glad. It's v difficult to take time off work for appts and I have Friday afternoons off so it's nice to be able to make appts at home for a time that suit me.

PeanutButter82 · 08/08/2016 16:24

Glad I'm not the only one with the super-smell! I knew it was a common symptom but hadn't heard anyone else mention it. I guess it's not quite as horrible as the sickness, tiredness etc so doesn't get as noticed.

Super that sounds like an amazing service! Whereabouts do you live (if you don't mind me asking)?

I have bought these belt extender things ready for when I can't do up my jeans any more. I find it hard to get jeans that fit just right at the best of times so I'd rather put off having to buy maternity stuff for as long as possible!

SuperDuperJezebel · 08/08/2016 16:37

I'm in SW16 London, I don't know how small the catchment area is for this group of midwives is, but the name of the team is v similar to my Dr surgery, which is on a road of the same name near my house, so I'm thinking quite small?

Carolann8584 · 08/08/2016 16:44

As I don't have a scan date yet, I'm finding myself counting down to my booking in app lol 9 days. really can't wait to see beany, and be able to tell people at work, all I get at the mo is- your quiet today, you ok? would be great to be honest Smile

super that is great service no idea what it's like in my area, I live in a quiet area 12 miles outside of Manchester.

Butterpuff · 08/08/2016 16:56

That's amazing super I was under the local MLU last time around and though its a fairly small unit I guess it covers a large area. I saw a different midwife at every appointment!

Off for booking tomorrow, maybe I'll see one I recognize from last time!
