mushroom I also find it hard to keep up with these threads.

Is there a facebook group yet?

smiles01 · 29/07/2016 23:49

I've also got my scan Monday. Fingers crossed to everyone else who does! Mines super early so not expecting to see much, but looking forward to it nonetheless.

purplesmiler · 30/07/2016 05:54

Good luck to all with upcoming scans.

I keep having those am I really pregnant moments but then like last night everything was pulling and tightno matter how I sat or laid in bed. Hopefully I will have my booking in appointment in the coming weeks for reassurance.

abbinobb · 30/07/2016 06:48

Good luck with your scan elsa

Dozygirl · 30/07/2016 07:30

No one's started a Facebook group. People tend to prefer to join after 12 week scans. Just have to bear with the mn until then.

Cantstringawordtogether · 30/07/2016 07:44

Great news Cho!!

Floozie congrats and welcome :)

Newbie7077 · 30/07/2016 07:46

Has anyone else opted for a nuchal scan? I'm starting to think I shouldn't have after reading about a lot of people that get high risk only to then go through hell and in the end find out actually it was all OK....

neonrainbow · 30/07/2016 07:57

I am having the nuchal scan. I want to know everything about my baby.

Lozza92 · 30/07/2016 08:02

I've opted for the nuchal scan as well

SuperDuperJezebel · 30/07/2016 10:05

Hi ladies, I'm 9 weeks today, genuinely surprised to still be pregnant (in a good way!). Wondering still when I'll hear from the midwife, I saw my GP earlier in the week for a prescription and she seemed mildly surprised that I hadn't been contacted by them yet - she said I'd see them at about 10 weeks. Wondering how long I leave it before I contact my surgery and see if I need to do anything. Nausea seems to be easing a little but the cravings are massively kicking in. Yesterday I stocked up on Garibaldi and digestive biscuits and this morning I've been mainlining strawberries!

Floozie66 · 30/07/2016 10:30

Booking scan is usually 8 -10 weeks with mw. They will also arrange your first scan which is usually 10-13 weeks. I would contact your mw now as sometimes it is difficult to get an appointment for the same week or following. I had a previous booking appt with mw at 8 weeks but couldnt get a scan until 13 weeks due to being booked out !!

SuperDuperJezebel · 30/07/2016 10:37

Thanks, I already have a date for the scan at 12+3. I vaguely remember my Dr saying maybe I was having everything done at the hospital, as I'm on Labetalol for high blood pressure but I don't know if I ever got a definitive answer. I might phone my surgery on Monday and ask if they have a contact for the midwives.

SpanielLedWeaning · 30/07/2016 10:40

I've opted for the nuchal test as well. I'm the type of personality that prefers to prepare for all eventualities so would prefer to know the risk factor even if it is high.

charlybs · 30/07/2016 11:10

Went from feeling so sick I couldn't open my eyes to wolfing down a marmite sandwich. I don't understand pregnancy!!!

Dozygirl · 30/07/2016 11:55

Last time I was going to have nuchal but changed my mind because I couldn't be bothered having enough extra bloods done. I'd have a needlestick injury at work and was having bloods taken for that special I declined. Not sure what to do this time. Also seen someone going through hell because of what they were told at the scan only for everything to come back fine on all the tests. I'm not sure what I'd do if something came back bad anyway so probably better just not knowing for me.

louise1609 · 30/07/2016 12:01

Congratulations ChoChang!!!

I'm waiting for blood test results , now due Tuesday. Thinking of everyone else who has worries and hoping we all follow after Cho with good news. Nothing has been said about an early scan to me , assume they want to see blood results first...?

Thanks to everyone for the positive thoughts, especially as I pretty much gate crashed the thread Blush - only other half and one close friend knows so good to hear from others in similar situation and to get to share peoples good news in the hope I'll get some too Envy Flowers

SecretScaryFriend · 30/07/2016 12:26

I had Nuchal screening last time and I will again. Already having DD I want to know anything that will have a huge impact on all our lives.

abbinobb · 30/07/2016 12:32

I'm going to have the nuchal scan, i didnt with ds because by the time i found out i was pregnant it was too late for it, and the midwife really freaked me out about not having it, i had the bloods though and that showed low risk, but i spent the entire time worried so i'd just rather know, not that you can know everything of course.

Zenzie · 30/07/2016 13:59

A bit late but cho such great news about your scan! I had mine about a week ago and saw a heartbeat too, such amazing relief. They didn't do any dating though, but I'll have a nine week scan as well so perhaps then.

I'll probably end up doing the Harmony test - my daughter has a severe illness and I need to know as much about these things for any new baby. Keep my eyes open, as it were. My daughter's illness isn't genetic, just sheer fucking awful luck, but we would still want to know as much as possible.

Happygojo86 · 30/07/2016 16:13

With the Nuchal measurements, you have to think of what you would do with the info if you found you would be high risk. If you can afford the harmony test or would have amniocentesis. I decided not to have it last time because I wouldn't do anything with the information other than worry if it came back as high risk. Not sure what I will do this time, need to talk to OH but probably won't as all it gives you is a vague probability. Even with a 1:4 result, you have a 75% chance of having a healthy baby

NameChange30 · 30/07/2016 16:37

The screening tests are such a personal decision aren't they?

I'm having the screening tests, and if they came back with a higher than average risk of abnormality, I would get further tests - probably the harmony one. Not necessarily because I would get a TFMR (although I would seriously consider it if there was a confirmed and very severe abnormality) but because if there was a definite/probable problem, I would want to be prepared both emotionally and practically.

However I totally understand that others don't necessarily feel the same.

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 30/07/2016 16:53

I've decided to have the Harmony test. I'm 39, nearly 40 so I think if I have the NHS tests I'd be high risk just down to my age alone. Plan is to have a dating scan at 10 weeks together with bloods. Then results at 12 weeks and a more detailed scan.

I have a date for my 12 week NHS scan already, I'm going to speak to the midwife to see if she'd advise the bloods at this point of they will be happy with the private results. Really don't know what I'd do if there were any problems but would like to know as ealry as possible. It's very frightening bit less so than the thought of amino or CVS at a later stage I think.

MrsMushrooms · 30/07/2016 17:02

Thanks, DozyGirl, other ante-natal groups I've been in have had FB groups way before 12 weeks (exactly because the threads are so difficult to keep up with!)

Would anybody else be interested in one? I'm happy to start one if there's any interest :)

alphabook · 30/07/2016 17:39

I'm really not sure about the nuchal scan. I wouldn't want to have amniocentesis or CVS because of the risk of miscarriage, so it's a question of what I would do if I came back high risk. And the Harmony test is so expensive. After having one "bad" scan and having to wait an agonising 2 weeks to find out everything was OK, I'm not sure I want to put myself through that again.
