New thread - the one where we stop being pregnant and become new mamas! So close to the end. Exciting!

I'm being ignored today by DH not sure what I've done wrong other than the DD being a tantrummy little sod and my patience/ mood wearing thin. Think I may just leave them both at home tonight instead of all of us going out.

Supposed to be watching a Shakespeare play in the park with my family but I Cba dealing with them. I'm in so much pain and I'm not sure if I'm still allowed to take my codeine.

Growth scan tomorrow after a bday meal for Dad. I hope it goes ok. I'm stressing inwardly and trying desperately not to, but there's so much other shit going wrong in my life right now (best mate in hosp etc) that I just can't cope.

lilygirl81 · 10/07/2016 18:28

Beryl I've been given dihydracodeine by the maternity ward, so think you should be ok, being in pain is horrible. Remember that growth scans are really unreliable as well, so do try not to panic (though I know how you feel, mine is on Tuesday).

Daytona I love the bear, such a fantastic idea! Let us know what the doctor says.

Sophia1984 · 10/07/2016 18:46

Sorry you're having a tough time Beryl Do you want to tell us more about your friend? It's really hard when there is additional life stress on top of being pregnant, but I think the hope that babies bring can help to give the strength and resilience to deal with it. I hope the growth scan goes well :-) x

OwlinaTree · 10/07/2016 21:04

Sorry to hear it's a bad day beryl, hope your friend gets better soon.

I think my 2yo is starting chicken pox. He's got a few spots that I thought might be insect bites, but he's now got swollen lumps behind his ears, and I remember having those when I got chicken pox. We think he had a bit of a temperature round wed too. It's not good to be exposed if you are pg, but I know I've definitely had it.

He seems OK in himself though... watch this space.

LotsOfDots · 10/07/2016 21:11

owlina if you have had chicken pox, then it's fine. My DD1 came out in spots 2 days before DD2 was born. Messed up our childcare arrangements and meant that she couldn't come into see her new sister in the hospital, but she had just about scabbed over by the time DD2 was ready to come home. I stayed an extra night in hospital to ensure the chance of transmission was minimised to DD2, but as I said, if you've had it, it's better for in to get it now than in the first few weeks of new DC being here!

beryl sorry to hear you're having a bad time, hopefully the growth scan tomorrow will be reassuring - are they concerned about small or large size? I hope your friend is ok.

OwlinaTree · 10/07/2016 21:20

Thanks lots.

BerylMeeps · 10/07/2016 21:26

They're concerned it has static or regressed growth?!

My friend is mentally a genius but profoundly disabled physically (think hawking) and has attempted suicide twice. Also has an eating disorder and been sectioned. Currently in hosp. They're so stubborn too. My heart hurts to think of it.

Dileas29 · 10/07/2016 21:51

beryl big hugs to you. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Your poor poor friend Flowers

Daytona79 · 11/07/2016 09:09

Out of hours doctor said I've a bladder infection so I've been put on antib , said its not good as can bring on labour so had to be treated asap.

Sophia1984 · 11/07/2016 15:26

Really sorry to hear that beryl One of my best friends has had a lot of trouble with her mental health in the past, and I know how helpless it can make you feel to see someone you love in pain.

Hope your scan has gone well - my midwife thought I had static growth from my bump, but the scan showed all was well. Whatever is going on, it's best that they've discovered it so they can keep an eye on you and little one x

Daytona That sounds horrible :-( Well done you for following it up and getting treatment though. Hope you feel better soon x

bearhuggy · 11/07/2016 15:53

Found you all ! Gosh it's been a while, sorry for being MIA and hope you are all doing ok. Have had a quick scan through and seem's to have been a few ups and down's recently but glad to hear all babes are doing well :)

I've had a crazy couple of weeks, we decided to sell our house despite our onwards property purchase falling through (Cheers Brexit!), so have just this weekend moved into a rental house whilst we look for the next place to buy. Wasn't an easy decision given such terrible timings, but better to move now before the baby arrives and then be settled somewhere whilst we look for the next renovation project. Quite sad leaving our old place as I had just finished setting up the nursery before we decided to sell (some pics attached if anyone interested)...so I am spending this afternoon setting everything up again in the new place. Looking forward to feeling more nested soon.

Had a midwife appointment last week and babe is doing well, head is down looking right (hence all the right side jabs I have been getting!) and 2/5 engaged. Def feel as though everything has dropped over the past week and getting lots of pressure down below. Would like baby to stay put for a while yet as have things to do !!

Two of the girls in my antenatal group have just had their babies early (6 & 5 weeks) so it def put us slightly into panic 'omg this could happen any day now' mode. Has everyone got bags packed? Any key things that second timers couldn't have managed without when in hospital / birth centre?

Sending happy vibes to all.

Aww Bear, such a lovely nursery! Glad to hear the move went well, it must have been stressful but so worth it!

Sorry Beryl, that sounds so tricky. I hope you are able to support your friend without getting too stressed yourself at this difficult time.

Daytona and Owlina, hope things improve soon!

Went for an extra (private) scan this morning, just for reassurance. We had to look away for most of it as we could have accidentally seen the sex. It was great, I also asked them to check blood flow/cord using the doppler. Baby is very very low, 2/5 engaged, head down, feet to the right. Also it has long legs and a small waist. Am I giving birth to a giraffe?! Estimated current weight: 6 pounds 7. That will do me fine, if it could slow down now I wouldn't mind. 36 weeks tomorrow!

Slothlikesundays · 11/07/2016 22:13

Bear that nursery looks lovely! Is that the one you've had to leave behind? And really hoping this baby doesn't arrive early like your friends as our nursery is currently bare plaster walls with no furniture.
Beryl it sounds like you are having a really stressful time at the moment, take the painkillers. If you are uncertain pop in to a pharmacist for reassurance, but of all the things you have on your plate hopefully your pain can be well managed with painkillers and that's one less thing getting you down and making life stressful.
Fizzy I have also been worrying about which clothes I need/what to take for the baby in hospital and how many layers to put on! Keep worrying that I'll forget something important and look silly.
This sounds really stupid as well but DP works away during the week and I'm starting to get really stressed that 1. He won't make it for the birth, 2. I'll call him to say come up and it will be a false alarm and waste his time/mess his work around and 3.(most stressful) I'm really worried about how I will cope when he goes back to work. I know plenty of people have newborns alone and being by myself for 4 nights a week is nothing in comparison to doing it alone all the time but I'm getting really worried and scared. Please tell me I'm being ridiculous and that I will be able to cope?!!

Daytona79 · 11/07/2016 22:48

Sloth

You will manage fine , my husband left to go back offshore for 4 weeks when my 1st was 3 days old, I have no family help either

I felt like it was a omg what am I going to do situation

It was hard baby developed colic at 6 days and screamed constantly day and night

About 2 weeks in I was nearly at breaking point, he was screaming in the bedroom and for a second I wanted to shout WTF is wrong with you..?? I hadn't slept in days. I could feel the stress building so I walked out room and sat on my stairs and burst into tears. That moment was about my only wobble , you get into a routine quite quickly.

The one hard thing is the lack of sleep but you will be amazed how little sleep the body can survive on

And it can't of been all that bad as I'm due again in 3.5 weeks and this time stuck alone a lot with newborn and a 21 month old toddler

So don't stress you will cope , u will surprise yourself xx

Fizzyboo · 11/07/2016 23:23

Big hugs to all going through it at the mo, I always am fond of the phrase, It'll be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end...

Re clothes... I'm gonna take sleep suits, long sleeved b grows, and the vesty arm and legless and see what the midwife suggests? Then maybe an outfit to come home in. I guess generally I'll have to play it by ear, my books say one extra layer than what we would wear, but I guess I'll just have to feel her to see how warm she is...

Got a letter from the paediatrician to the consultant saying when I book in for delivery that the on duty paediatrician needs to be paged etc to come down and properly check babes over. It's made me much more confident that an actual plan is being put together and I don't have to have a checklist stapled to my head!! It also makes me feel a bit more confident about the birth itself (my HV did warn me it would be quite a busy room!) but I sorta feel i won't be in put at any sort of risk if there's a room full of doctors! (Well that's what I'm going with rather than a whole room of people staring at my bits!)

As for those with partners working away, my DH does a 4 on 4 on working pattern, of a 12 hour day with 2 hours each way travel, so he literally comes home to try and sleep for 6 hours between shifts... I worry he will totally be at work when I go into labour too, and in the middle of the night when there's no trains!

Shanster · 12/07/2016 01:08

Congrats bear on the house sale. I know its a PITA being in a rental and dealing with the ups and downs of the market, but it'll be worth it eventually!

I had a bit of a freak out today, thought baby wasn't moving - I ate lunch (no kicks) then I had a coke (still nothing) so I ran to the dr office absolutely convinced something terrible was going on. As I sat in the waiting room, he finally started kicking. Lovely old dr saw me and put me on a monitor for 30 minutes, baby is absolutely fine. He said they'd rather I came in and checked than not, but I felt a bit of an idiot. I have a follow up scan on Friday to see if baby has freed himself from the cord around the neck. Honestly, this is my third baby and I never had a moment of stress with the other two. I think this one is a rascal.

Christinedonna · 12/07/2016 09:48

shanster that's ALWAYS the way. The second you're in a hospital, doctors, waiting room, anything they pipe up and make you look silly. But doctors and midwives definitely prefer you to go in over nothing than sit at home when there's something. Just makes you realise how close it all is to being over doesn't it! It's when the doctor says "how far gone are you?" And you take a second to think about it then you realise "wow! That flew" to think, all going well, the next time we'll be in hospital is to have our babies!

Just sat waiting for the health visitor, I'm a neat freak anyway but I spent all yesterday, the best part of last night and this morning cleaning for someone that probably couldn't care less haha. I just have to make up for the fact the house is a building site, windrow frames and glass in the living room, materials on the drive.. I can just hear her "oh wow!" Thoughts now! What exactly is it she'll do? First baby, first home visit at 35+5.

strandedabroad · 12/07/2016 11:27

Christine mine came yesterday (35+6) and was lovely. She gave me the baby's red book and asked me if I was ready! Gave me lots of leaflets and information about local stuff, and asked me and DH a fair few questions about health and family history. It was all quite informal and she seemed really nice! I hope yours goes well too Smile

Christinedonna · 12/07/2016 11:41

Mine was lovely too! She showed me the red book (an old one as apparently they're different now) but didn't give me one. Done all the history stuff but just felt like a good chat. Glad I like her as she'll be babys visitor for first year

Christinedonna · 12/07/2016 11:46

Just thought it's been a while since we done any bump pictures! Join in. 35+5

plimsolls · 12/07/2016 12:37

Hello everyone. Have been reading but not replying (as bloody always!). I have no useful advice or info for anyone as I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm also quite far behind a lot of you, I think. Endless sympathy though! Smile

Just waiting for a bus and thought I'd add a bump pic seeing as I happened to take one yesterday. This is 33+1.

Hope you're all well and the various issues are resolving themselves (or at least that the fact the end is in sight is helping a bit!)

Love the bumps!

I was down at the hospital for a scan and clinic today, mentioned that the baby hasn't been moving as she normally goes, so they did a CTG, which looked OK, but the decision was made that she needs to come out, so booked for my section on Friday!!! They suggested that I could either stay in until then, or come in once a day to get monitored. Decided to just go home and go in each day, as there are still things I want to get finished, plus, my pure white roots are really showing and I'm getting my hair coloured tomorrow!! Very shallow, but I would love to not cringe at my grey hair when I look at the first baby pictures.

From the Facebook page, there are a few others in hospital today, so there may be some early babies showing up!!

LotsOfDots · 12/07/2016 19:20

Have made it to the end of my last day of work!! Am now on annual leave for a couple of weeks them straight into mat leave 5 days before due date, if baby stays put until then. Totally knackered, as loads of colleagues have been on leave for the last couple of weeks and I've been doing extra acute lists to cover (no rest in hospital medicine!) and finished with another busy afternoon today, but now 37 weeks tomorrow and no more work... If only it wasn't already the school holidays here is be able to have a nice restful couple of weeks... Confused

LotsOfDots · 12/07/2016 19:22

X post lily wow exciting. How many weeks are you now? Hope you get everything all sorted and organised for Friday without it being to manic!

MrsZumbaDancer · 12/07/2016 20:17

Exciting lily!
