Gosh I don't want early too, I need to make it to 38 weeks to get my homebirth! Had my 36 week appointment a bit early yesterday and baby is head down but not engaged so hopefully that means I have a wee while yet.

Christinedonna · 08/07/2016 12:49

38 weeks would be perfect for me. Aslong as I can have my water birth and she's healthy, I'm happy

strandedabroad · 08/07/2016 13:47

That's a relief Sophia. Maternity leave is approaching fast, people! Even for me!! I have 3 weeks left. No doubt I will be doing some bits from home after that as I tend to get bored!

Had a bit of a scare this week as I was bleeding on Wednesday and the hospital asked me to go in, turns out I have cervical ectropion and it's just one of those things. Baby is definitely not coming as my cervix was tightly shut. It was a good trial run though!!

Christinedonna · 08/07/2016 13:56

Are any other first timers a bit worried about missing the signs/ not knowing what to expect? I get such bad period pains and runny tummy like feelings (but never actually happens) and my back kills and I think "what if this is the start of something and I'm just ignoring it?" Obviously it hasn't been and she's still in there but when do you know that "this is it"??

Daytona79 · 08/07/2016 14:04

Christina don't worry you will know for sure when your in labour, it hurts like nothing else you will of experienced

That's my view anyway Blush

LotsOfDots · 08/07/2016 14:15

Back from my growth scan, all is well, baby head down but not engaged, fluid volume normal, but likely to be quite a big baby, measuring 85th centile and estimated weight of nearly 7lb already at 36+2. My other 2 were pretty much bang on 50th centile at birth and then dropped to 9th and 25th so a bit of a change if the prediction is correct! The sonographer also thinks there is lots of hair and our other two were bald for months. Interesting to see how different this one looks from its sisters!

christine Alice is one of my favourite names, we can't use it as have friends who just had one, so glad to hear you are! One of my DDs is a Dorothy, so I say use that for the middle name!

Biscuitswithtea · 08/07/2016 14:18

Christine, basically what Daytona said. You'll know. There may well be seemingly endless false alarms where you wonder if it's going to progress into the real thing. Even when I was in labour with ds, and had many hrs of contractions at home, when I went to the hospital the contractions got stage fright and ground to a halt. I believe that's VERY common. It was another c15hrs before my waters went at home and we went back in.
In the meantime our internal organs are squashed beyond belief. Hence the aches and squiffiness.

Sophia1984 · 08/07/2016 15:16

Glad everything is well LotsOfDots :-) Went for a cuppa with my NCT group today and it made everything feel a lot more real, especially seeing all the mums with buggies in Costa and thinking 'that's going to be us soon!' Currently working from home getting stuff ready for handover and watching Le Tour!

MrsPMT23 · 08/07/2016 19:19

Has anyone had any really sharp sudden pains really low down in their pelvis? Feels like a really intense pressure down the sides of my vagina (sorry, TMI!). Been on and off all evening after walking the dog.

plimsolls · 08/07/2016 19:52

mrs I've had a few like that recently. Not really painful but enough to make me catch my breath at times. I wonder if they are the wonderfully nicknamed "fanny daggers" I've heard people refer to before?!

ToElleWithIt · 08/07/2016 19:59

Yes I have those and had them last time too. I think it feels like baby is dragging their fingernails over my cervix. I know that's not what the actual physical cause is, but it's the best way that I can describe it!

Daytona79 · 08/07/2016 20:12

Yup Fanny daggers it's all normal in the last few weeks and I agree to the fingernail scratching feeling

You get all manner of weird pains and twinges going on in last few weeks

MrsZumbaDancer · 08/07/2016 20:27

Had my 34 week appt today, head down but not engaged but she's couldn't believe how much it is spinning around. She's hoping its engaged at 36 weeks as said spinning babies make them nervous especially with second pregnancies.

Measuring 33 weeks at 34+4 and put on just under 2 stone.

Birth plan written, said it's pretty standard what I asked for but always good to have it written down.

Felt pretty rubbish today, baby is pushing up my internal organs so hurts a bit to breathe! Didn't drink enough water either so she struggled to find a vein. Explained how lousy if been feeling and she's out me on iron tablets until my latest bloods come back as my previous results wee borderline.

Was looking forward to bath and takeaway but ds head butted a wall tonight and had a huge bump on his head so on concussion watch!!

Fizzyboo · 08/07/2016 20:35

Had my 36 week today, all good, she couldn't tell if she was still back to back or not... Did your spinning stuff work Dileas?
Oh Jesus, Fanny dagger the fingernail dragger!! That's exactly the feeling I've had the last few! It's discombobulating to say the least!
MW has sorted all the paperwork out for my chromosome test from the cord blood out, and the appt with the consultant and local paediatric cardiologist booked up. Babes head apparently just above the x that marks the spot. Shits getting reaaaaaal!!

Laineypopps · 08/07/2016 21:10

Oh the 'fanny daggers' are horrendous!!! Is anyone else getting tightenings which are quite sore? It's def not labour pains but while bump goes rock hard like a Braxton hicks and then there is pain and pressure down low. Had it all day y'day and again today. Nothing regular and no other symptoms. Don't remember this from last time!Confused

That sounds promising fizzy - do you mind me being nosey about the chromosome/cord blood? Does baby have a heart issue? If I'm being too nosey just say - I won't be offended!!

Fizzyboo · 08/07/2016 21:25

Not at all Lainey. I've actually found it really helpful for me to talk about it openly here.
Yes, babes has a right facing aortic arch. The heart itself has been found to be structurally normal, but a right facing aortic arch can be a signifier of a partially deleted chromosome, q22, which is a wide ranging, from unnoticeable to severe symptoms. Sometimes (and in most cases where there are no other anomalies, like my babe) the hearts righty way is just a asymptomatic normal variant.
I was offered a late stage amino but I declined. They told me I had a higher risk of miscarriage than babe actually having the 22q deletion anyway.
The only possible issue if she doesn't have any chromosomal issues, is that by being right facing, the arteries off of the aorta can make a ring around her trachea, causing compression, so I'm to be on the lookout for breathing/feeding issues, and she will have an MRI and bronchio vid when she's 6-8 weeks and if so, some unsnagging surgery, if not, then just a story about how her heart really is one in 100,000.

BerylMeeps · 08/07/2016 21:35

I'm in so much pain today 😓 My pelvis is actually grinding together, I have sciatica so bad in my left leg, my public area is sooo achy

And my hormones are up again. I am so close to crying into my cuppa.

Fucking pregnancy. Not doing this again.

BerylMeeps · 08/07/2016 21:36

And I just made myself laugh. public area is meant to be pubic heehee

Laineypopps · 08/07/2016 21:41

Thanks for sharing fizzy what a lot for you to process! It must have been very challenging to go through but I have to say you come across as so clued in and strong. I am in awe. I'm a big believer in you attract what you focus on so I will focus on your little girl being a unique wee diamond with no lasting issues and a very interesting story about her special heart. 😘

Laineypopps · 08/07/2016 21:45

beryl I just laughed out loud and spluttered my juice everywhere reading your public area!!! Ha ha ha!!! 😂

I feel your pain though. I went into work today - officially on hols before mat leave but need to make sure everything is ok for kids going back in August. I'm a wee big of a control freak! I totally overdid it and can't even walk to the loo without crawling upstairs. Pain and pressure down low. Sending a hug from one bag of hormones to another. 😘

Suziesome1 · 08/07/2016 21:52

So, went to the mw today and she thought that the baby was head down, but then she said that she may not be as the head and bum kinda feel the same Hmm anyway, I'm for a mini scan next week to find out for sure as I have a consultant appt anyway. Baby is now on the 95%, big fatty boom boom! So in short I maybe having an upside down ginormo-baby!

LotsOfDots · 08/07/2016 21:59

Lol at upside down ginormo baby!

Daytona79 · 08/07/2016 23:24

Very concerned about weight gain

36 weeks tomorrow and I've put on 9lb total

But that 9lb was put on between 14-26 weeks

I've put on nothing for 10 weeks now Confused

I have mentioned it to MW lots of times but she never really said anything apart from you don't need to put lots on

Anyone else had weight gain like mine.?

Daytona79 · 08/07/2016 23:25

Or lack of weight gain that should be

Shanster · 09/07/2016 02:32

That doesn't sounds like much weight Daytona, is your bump measuring as expected? I'm a bit freaked out now, I had my growth scan today and although baby is fine (50th centile) and head down amazingly, he has managed to get the cord wrapped around his neck twice. So, midwife said no travel - at least until he manages to wriggle himself out of the double tie. I'm booked in for another scan to check on him next Friday, but I have to keep a close watch on movement until then in case he gets into distress. I'm freaking out because I still haven't started working on a coverage plan for work, we've not been able to hire anyone and there's so much going on I can't seem to get started on this. I just assumed I'd be fine to work until 41 weeks and now that seems less certain (plus just stressed about baby).
