New thread - the one where we stop being pregnant and become new mamas! So close to the end. Exciting!

I'll be 38 week exactly on Friday. Not too much to do, and nothing actually vital, more just so everything looks good when we get home afterwards. DH and I decided to go out for dinner tonight, which was lovely, and hoping to hit the cinema before Friday.

Dots congratulations on finally getting on leave, hope you still manage to take things a bit easy.

Anyone got any tips for back pain? Currently in bath as it's the only time it doesn't hurt! Am using paracetamol and hot water bottle but not really helping. Lying down is ok but I need to be able to sit and type!

BerylMeeps · 12/07/2016 22:12

Friend has been in contact and said I can visit finally, but I can't walk very well, and would have to travel alone as can't take anyone in with me. Not sure what to do.

Growth scan fine, baby is 6lb10 at 37w so all good. MW appt Monday to decide whether to induce me due to my health/mobility issues connected to PG. kinda want them to say yes so I can get it over with but I'm a bit scared of induction! Tell me it'll be okay?!?!

quitecrunchy · 12/07/2016 23:42

Hi all, just catching up on the thread a bit. Sorry to hear about all the worries on growth, movement, cords and positioning, GD and the rest. This whole business of growing a person is pretty anxious work isn't it?

I've been through the mill a bit in the last few weeks tbh hence my radio silence. My lovely dad was diagnosed with cancer almost 3 weeks ago and passed away 10 days later. Still trying to get my head round it all but grateful he didn't have to suffer for long. Funeral was today and now that's been and gone I'm ready to focus my energies on prepping for the little one arriving and catching up on that. She seems none the worse for all the stress and sadness which is a blessing.

Can't believe it's almost time for the first babies to arrive! How are you feeling about Friday Lily? Good move getting some quality time in with DH before the arrival. Can't wait to see the thread go from bump photos to babies, just think how many gorgeous chubby little faces and teeny fingers and toes we're going to produce between us all over the next couple of months!

lilygirl81 · 13/07/2016 00:16

Crunchy I am so sorry about your dad, I can't imagine how hard that has been for you, and so sudden Flowers

I'm feeling alright, but nervous though!

Biscuitswithtea · 13/07/2016 02:19

Crunchy I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope you're getting the support you need Flowers

So it turns out baby didn't get the memo about being due next month. DD was born yesterday afternoon, 6lbs 6!

My waters went first thing in the morning, admitted to hospital straight away (though no contractions at that point) because of group b strep. Contractions started after a sweep but failed to progress. Hormone drip in the afternoon and then went from 2cm - baby delivered in c2hrs!

I was anxious about induction but actually is was okay. Intense, but no less painful than DS's non-induced birth. The pain relief that I used was the same for both - though DS took significantly longer to arrive.
Despite tearing quite badly last time, there have been no tears this time.

DD is gorgeous and v sleepy. Feeding is stupendously slow at the moment but the midwives are being brilliant at supporting us in this.

Am still slightly stunned (hadn't even finished up at work yet) but v v happy :) :)

Congratulations biscuits!!! Wine. That's wonderful news.

crunchy I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Both my parents have passed away now and I think in pregnancy in particular it's very hard. I hope you've got lots of support Flowers

Belager · 13/07/2016 06:17

crunchy Flowers I'm really sorry for your loss. Xx

biscuits congratulations! Enjoy all your newborn snuggles!

I've been a bit radio silence here as well (I'm finding it much easier to keep up in the FB group). Currently in and out of hospital due to suspected pre eclampsia. Is a PITA but I suppose I should be glad they are keeping an eye on things!

I'm so glad babies are starting to come. I wish you all smooth deliveries. Xxx

Kstar8 · 13/07/2016 06:24

Emerging from my lurking to congratulate biscuits on your happy arrival! Flowers really good to hear a positive induction story too! Congratulations to you and your little family.

Crunchy so sorry to hear about your dad. It's gutting to lose a parent at any time in your life but particularly in pregnancy. Peace and comfort to you and your family.

biscuits congratulations! How many weeks were you again? Did you feel any different the night before etc that something was up or did the waters just go out of nowhere? Glad all is going well and soon the day three milk will come in before you know it!

crunchy really sorry to hear about your dad.. Hugs..

Oh my, congratulations biscuits! As if babies are arriving, I better crack on with stuff!

Biscuitswithtea · 13/07/2016 07:02

Yep, due on the 6th August Fizzy. Have you got your bags packed?!?

Was in the absurd situation of phoning my boss from labour ward to organise the tidying up of my last two days of work. She was brilliant and took it all in her stride - even if she was a bit surprised!

I didn't feel particularly different on Monday. In hindsight I think my body was having a mini clearout because I had quite a lot of trips to the loo (tmi??) but otherwise no clue. Since DS labour started with hours and hours of contractions before waters went, I was a bit surprised when I appeared to have lost all control of pelvic floor on Tues am! Put a maternity pad in and checked it after an hr or so - it was full and didn't smell of wee so phoned triage. The rest, as they say, is history :)

OwlinaTree · 13/07/2016 07:07
