I had about a week of excitement and now I am just in fairly constant pain and just looking forward to the baby being here.

Experiment for you all!

Has your DH put his ear to your stomach and listened for a while? DP says he thinks he can hear all the fluid "whooshing about". He says it's not normal stomach gurgling digestion noises, more like a bad underwater camera thrashing about (his description). He is convinced it's the baby. Anyone want to have a go and see if they sound the same?

I so wish I could contort myself so I could listen.

Also joining the sciatica club . And the last few days I'm not able to feel movement so much because I have developed a really aggressive pulse in my stomach. Like THUMP THUMP THUMP, up and down about a centimetre.

I feel bad saying this but I'm really hating pregnancy. I hate that I'm tired all the time and therefore feel isolated because I'm too tired to spend evenings with my friends. I hate that I feel really fat and look awful and that I'm overally sensitive. I also hate that my whole life is about the change because of something/ someone I don't know yet - weird I know.

I'm not even really looking forward to the baby appearing. The only thing I'm looking forward to is getting it out of me so my body is my own again.

Feel guilty writing this because I know if something did go wrong I'd feel bad and that it'd be my fault for feeling like this.

CakeAndChocolate · 09/07/2016 21:16

Bob in my opinion, not enough people say just how shit being pregnant is, BUT it seems to be more common than those who love being pregnant. I mean "the glow" doesn't really happen to anyone does it?!
Pregnancy is HARD, go easy on yourself, don't beat yourself up for feeling this way.

On a practical note, can you arrange to see friends during the day at the weekends? Maybe a coffee or lunch? That way you can still keep in touch and do nice things for you, but hopefully minimise the exhaustion.

AyeAmarok · 09/07/2016 22:07

((((Bob))))

It really is tough. And your body isn't your own; it's like it's had an alien invasion.

Nor would it be your fault and nobody would think it was.

The stress and the worry and the bizarre and unpleasant changes in your body, not to mention the discomfort that there is just no relief from. I really don't think I could go through this again, I've said as much to DP.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You definitely aren't alone feeling like you do.

smellsofelderberries · 10/07/2016 00:11

I'm also looking forward to little one being here because that will mean she's safe. I am counting down the weeks until viability- 2 weeks today. I have been sat upright for several hours now out with friends and baby is sitting right around my belly button and my stomach is aching. So of course then I start stressing that something is wrong. I am loving being pregnant, but I am not loving the second guessing of every single ache and twinge.

I dreamt last night that I had the baby, except she wasn't a baby, she was a cat Hmm and all I could think was 'I went through 9 months of that for a cat? I went through labour for a CAT?! I can't breastfeed a cat!' And then promptly sobbed all over my Mum Grin so, at least we know they're all babies in there and some of us aren't getting booby prize cats?

FuzzyOwl · 10/07/2016 00:26

But Smells a cat will be litter trained, weaned and sleeping through the night within a few weeks and not long afterwards it is able to go outside without needing constant supervision. We'll have to come back to this conversation at the end of the year when we haven't slept for weeks and see how awful a cat is then!! Grin

Mine isn't really sciatica as such Aye but I'm hanging out with the members anyway as it is just as painful and in the right place, even though it doesn't radiate down my leg.

What a beauty Albus and I hope your DSIS is doing well.

I consider myself someone who has fairly easy pregnancies but it is still hard so for lots of you that have gone through so much sickness, PGP, depression and anxiety, GD and everything else etc, it has to be a truly awful time. It does feel good to know that as a group we are much more understanding that pregnancy is often an unpleasant experience and we can talk about it, instead of feeling everyone else is glowing and there is something wrong with us for not feeling the same way.

Thanks everyone, wish I could feel a bit more positive about it all. I'm sure when the time gets nearer I'll hopefully feel differently and better about it. I think we're going to buy the travel system next weekend which might make everything feel a bit more real.

needanewjob · 10/07/2016 08:45

Ahhh albus he is scrummy!

Bollyroo · 10/07/2016 12:09

Aye, DH just had a listen to poppet and apart from getting a kick in the head(!) he said he could hear swooshing noises that didn't sound like normal belly gurgles. He's really pleased that he now has something that he can enjoy and describe to me! Not sure how I'll extract his head from my belly now...

My first week at the new job went really well and I'm loving it although not being able to go for an afternoon nap is quite a struggle, particularly with this horrible cold. Everyone is really friendly and I've definitely made the right decision getting this contract now. Yay!

Bob, keep going! I've gone crazy on whatsapp keeping in touch with friends because I just don't feel up to meeting up sometimes. Be kind to yourself. Hope you're ok.

AyeAmarok · 10/07/2016 12:40

Bolly awww that's nice! DP has been googling it and apparently towards the end he'll be able to hear hiccups! Apparently the babies get hiccups every day.

Glad your job is working out well, that's a relief Smile

onthemetro · 10/07/2016 18:31

Hello!

funkky I was prescribed cocodamol for my headaches, paracetamol doesn't do anything for me either.

We've had our pram since I was about 6 weeks because of a too good to pass Gumtree bargain. It's a Silver Cross one, can't remember the name of it but it seems straightforward enough to collapse/change around and it's quite lightweight so I'm pleased with our £35 bargain! I'm still kinda wishing I could join in with pushchair chat though, it's so exciting! Grin

Turns out I'll be able to start my maternity leave much earlier than I anticipated because I'll still have 6 weeks of holiday to take before I leave so we're aiming for the middle of September. It's so weird deciding stuff like this!

Is anyone else feeling MASSIVE at the moment? I'm 21+3 and seem to have gained 10 stone over the weekend, or that's how it feels anyway. I really struggled in work yesterday (retail), I was so slow and exhausted by every little thing. Wanted to kill anyone who asked me to go upstairs Grin latinata hibernation sounds wonderful!

onthemetro · 10/07/2016 18:32

Gah, think I've just posted without reading the second page! Whoops, sorry everyone Grin

rosie85 · 10/07/2016 19:49

HI bobcat,

I'm new to this group and I understand what you're saying. It's such a strange feeling and it does sometimes feel very frustrating when you can't do things because of the baby.

rosie85 · 10/07/2016 19:52

Duckwaddle,

The foot swelling is exactly what made me look for this group! Mine s getting really bad. I know it's normal but it's a worry. Have you tried soaking them or elevating them? Anything worked for you?

X

bobcat85 · 10/07/2016 20:24

Welcome rosie. Yeah I think that's one of the hardest things. It doesn't feel like my life is my own and baby isn't even here yet.

onthemetro - me too, I'm 21+ 5 and I already feel massive.

We looked at the Cosatto Giggle 2 travel system the other day and quite liked it. It's really light and there's a deal on in Mothercare for the whole system for £350.

coppergrey · 10/07/2016 21:09

We've decided on the Bugaboo Cameleon... it's crazy expensive but I absolutely love it and my mum is paying half so we're decided! It's on offer with the foot muff at John Lewis atm so will be buying it next week.

I'm an emotional wreck right now, the smallest thing will set me off and cause a full-scale breakdown. In brighter news, my sciatica is much better after regular chiropractor sessions but mostly because I've made a real effort to get out and walk. Apparently sitting makes it loads worse so I'm trying to walk over 5,000 steps a day to keep it moving and it feels SO much better! Might be something to try for anyone else suffering.

I'm generally enjoying pregnancy but I do think it's so important to talk about the painful/scary/frustrating/horrible aspects of it. There's so much pressure to be a gorgeous, glowy pregnant lady full of joy and rainbows but that's so far from the reality of actual pregnancy. I said this really early on in our threads but Kim Kardashian is a really good source for pregnancy real talk. Sounds weird but she's totally honest about how much she hated it both times and I think that's really refreshing for someone in the public eye!

rosie85 · 10/07/2016 21:59

Thanks Smile

You're right about feeling huge all of a sudden. I think part of it must be the bloating too?!

Ooh buggies. I think we are going for the uppababy vista. We are having more problems choosing a car seat! What is everyone else going for?

X

DuckWaddle · 11/07/2016 06:13

Hi Rosie- I literally had elephant feet in my last pregnancy! The only thing that helped was elevating them but pretty impossible to do when at work and commuting!! Hot days definitely make it worse. If you find any answers let me know!!

CocklesandMussels · 11/07/2016 07:38

Hi everyone, I've just been catching up with the thread. Bob you are definitely not alone! Rosie I think swollen feet is the only symptom that I haven't had yet, poor you.
I've got terrible reflux now, I can't lie flat and it's made worse as I'm on aspirin! Lots of sleepless nights. I may have to get something for it. Gaviscon makes me worse.
I'm enjoying all the pushchair talk. We had a cameleon for DDandit was fab. This time we're going for a donkey. The choice is quite a bit less for twins. I've worn DH down though and he's let me decide rather than be dragged around the baby shops.
Have a good day everyone, hope you're all a good way along the work countdown.

Canters15 · 11/07/2016 08:06

bob I hate pregnancy too. I wanted two children but I don't know if I can realistically do this again. I feel nauseous, tired and drained and my brain has gone to shit! Someone bought me the unmumsy mum book which I read over the weekend and am now like wtf have i done?!!

Fedupithink · 11/07/2016 08:08

Hi everyone, also just catching up after a crazy busy weekend.

I'm feeling really good, bit tired and I do get heartburn but fixed with a Rennie. I seem to have made peace with the whole gender thing and my DH and I went shopping on Saturday to decide on everything we need to buy! I had a huge spreadsheet printed out with lists and requirements for each thing and we have picked pretty much everything.

In terms of big things we are going for the bugaboo chameleon, the Snuzpod and maxi-cosi pebble plus.

Also - might be of interest - mamas and papas have a big sale on at the moment and for every £30 you spend they then send you a £15 e:gift card which you can use in August.

It's a max of 3 per person so DH and I registered as 2 people, spent £180 in 6 separate transactions (the lady on the till was absolutely fine with this which was amazing!) and we will be getting £90 worth of £15 vouchers back. You can only use the vouchers one per transaction but both in-store and online so we will do 6 separate small orders (free delivery to store) or in-store purchases. No minimum purchase amount. Have a look!!

Hope you all have a happy Monday!

CakeAndChocolate · 11/07/2016 08:29

That's a great deal fedup I loved the M&P babygrows when DS was small, you could get some of those in varying sizes. The blankets are lovely too, but if I remember correctly quite expensive, wouldn't be so bad with £15 off!

coppergrey · 11/07/2016 09:48

Oh that's a great deal, thanks Fedup! We're getting all the same big items as you so might be placing a few Mamas & Papas orders soon!
