Thank you so much everyone! Feeling better about it this morning, I really do think it was just a bad angle but still rolling my eyes at how ridiculous my SIL is. She's just one of those people who has to be the centre of attention and gets a lot of her self esteem from comparing herself to other people, which means often putting others down sadly. It also came on the heels on a really nice photo DH took of me the same day, which we both put on FB to announce the pregnancy, and lots of people commenting how great I looked, so suspect it's all tied in! I swear my SIL is actually 33, not 13 Wink

Bolly I don't wear heels anyway but I'm amazed you're still in them! I need to pull all my sandels out of the cupboard since it might just get warm enough this week to wear them.

Just had the movers over to check that everything we want to take with us will fit in the container DH's work are paying for, and I mentioned I wanted to buy an antique chest of draws for the nursery and he said it should fit, whoop! I really didn't think it would! Now just need to see if DH is happy with me buying something (and how much he will let me spend). Anthropologie have some sweet draw knobs on sale so thinking of buying some to change out 🤔 But it's probably an expense I shouldn't be thinking of right now. My agency have been pants lately and I haven't worked in a month, should probably be curbing expenses instead of thinking of extra things to buy Confused

Is anyone else suffering from rib pain? My bump has really moved up this week and in the evenings my ribs feel so bruised

FuzzyOwl · 04/07/2016 20:24

need I have rib, bump and bum pain. The only thing that helps is to lie flat on my back except the acid reflux kicks in then! I'm already struggling to lift DD and have another trimester to get through!

needanewjob · 04/07/2016 21:16

Oh fuzzy it's so uncomfortable isn't it? I can feel how much broader my rib cage is this time as even my loosest bras feel right across my back, in going to have to go and get measured again

FuzzyOwl · 04/07/2016 21:34

Really horrid need. Hope it eases soon for both of us.

I had rib and upper bump pain today. Felt like I was 38 weeks not 22!

westergille · 04/07/2016 23:17

Been lurking on the thread but not posted since thread #1 so sorry that I'm starting again with a moan. Sat in DD's bedroom for the third night in a row as she is ill. So tired due to interrupted sleep last night. We had our anomaly scan today and the baby is measuring small. I have to go back next week for another as scan with the specialist. I try not to be a worrier but I am so anxious about why the baby is small (about 19 weeks when I'm actually nearly 21 weeks). All afternoon and evening I've been thinking about what I've done or not done to cause it. And then worrying about having a premature baby and/or one with SN and then berating myself for my selfishness. And since DD still won't be clear of illness tomorrow I'll be missing another day of work at a mega busy time. I feel like I'm letting everyone down.

Sorry, epic post but DH is asleep and of course he's dealing with the stress of the scan and DD's illness so I don't want to lay even more stuff on him.

FuzzyOwl · 04/07/2016 23:32

Sorry you are going through a worrying time west. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. Remember though that for every average sized baby there will also be one who is really big and another who is really small for the dates, but it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Hope you get some sleep and your DD is better soon.

Hi all. Sorry to hear about those that are struggling.
Quick question -I have the anomoly scan tomorrow, do I need to have a full bladder? Or was that just for the 12 week scan?
TIA

DuckWaddle · 05/07/2016 06:47

west- you poor thing. I'm sure there could be lots of explanations for it- perhaps the initial date was wrong etc? The wait is awful though, I feel for you. If you want to discuss the possible reasons maybe you could ring your MW and say the anxiety is getting to you. But definitely don't blame yourself for this. As mothers I think we automatically do. Let us know how it goes and we will be thinking of you.
Slumber- for this pregnancy I haven't needed a full bladder for any scan.

bobcat85 · 05/07/2016 07:18

Slumberparty - on the scan letter they said I needed a full bladder. I did ask why and they said it's so they can get a clearer view of the placenta. Once she'd looked at the placenta she asked me to go for a wee.

Stretchedfortime · 05/07/2016 10:10

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this west. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure as fuzzy says it is probably just a case of averages not always reflecting reality. I can't imagine that babies grow 100% consistently.

We're on holiday at the moment and I'm so glad we have gone now. I ended up really huffing and puffing getting to the gate at the airport. I have got a shitty cold which makes things worse. But it is really making me reconsider my plan to work up to 38 weeks. I feel enormous already and have definitely had upper bump pain. Plus I have suddenly noticed a dimple above my tailbone. I've googled this and apparently you have this from birth but I have never, ever noticed it before. Has anyone else got this?
Thinking of you west.

Bollyroo · 05/07/2016 11:48

West, I agree with Fuzzy's as ever very useful insight. The size is all about averages and certainly not a reflection of what you might or might not have done. It's nature. Please don't worry about work. I'm sure work doesn't worry about us workers half as much as we worry about work! I hope you manage to get some rest.

Aye, haha, love it! Would you wear a matching cocktail dress? Might as well start labour in style.

westergille · 05/07/2016 13:18

Thanks ladies for your support. I did get a reasonable amount of sleep. Work is just annoying at the moment as, having agreed with DH that he'd stay at home today so I could go to work, my meeting has been cancelled and my colleagues are still busy with another project. But I am still needed to stay late and I am using the software that I dont have at home so doesn't feel like too much of a waste of time to have come in. Re the scan, I think doctors and midwives don't want to say "It'll all be fine" just in case it isn't so they end up mentioning remote possibilities. That's why it's great to have you (non medical) people reassure me - I won't blame you if you're wrong as you can't be expected to know Smile. The baby was also all curled up and wouldn't move so they couldn't check its organs properly so I would need to go back again anyway even if measurements were fine.

needahugbug · 05/07/2016 14:59

Place marking. I'm due November the 8th anyone else due around that time or anyone from south west London?xx

statsy · 05/07/2016 15:46

Hi all, I've been lurking for an unacceptably long time but had my 20 week scan this morning so think it's about time I joined...I'm due 6th Nov (come ooon fireworks night), so currently 22+2. This is our first baby, and we just found out she's a girl so it's all starting to feel very real finally :)

It's been so helpful reading all of your comments these past few months and not feeling so alone after the shock of what pregnancy is actually like! I've had a relatively easy one so far compared to some others, but it's been a nightmare compared to not being pregnant! Haha

I'm based in south London, delivering at Kings. I think early on a couple of you said you're around here too :) hello! 👋

Fedupithink · 05/07/2016 18:54

Hello all, sorry to hear some of you are still struggling and having worrying times.

I haven't been on here for a few days as trying to get my head around the gender thing (still feel so so ungrateful and guilty about all this) but I think I'm getting there.

DH and I are going on a massive shopping trip this weekend as I've been too worried to do anything sooner. We're going to buy some books so we can start reading to bump and hopefully make decisions on which ones of everything else we'll be buying in the coming weeks.

I'm leaning towards the bugaboo chameleon based on the catalogue but looking forward to finally testing them out.

needanewjob · 05/07/2016 19:52

Saw my midwife today and got to hear the heartbeat...even she commented on what a wriggler he is! Rib pain is not as bad today although I did have a bit of a funny turn this morning because I hadn't eaten enough...lesson learnt and I will be making sure I have a proper breakfast going forward!

Bought some lovely wallpaper for the nursery too, can't wait to see it up. It's all beginning to feel so real and I'm finally allowing myself to properly nest and prepare for my little boys arrival.

AyeAmarok · 05/07/2016 22:37

Has anyone else's belly button disappeared into a giant crater!? Confused

Fedupithink · 06/07/2016 07:44

Mine hasn't Aye but it definitely looks like that under tight clothes now I hate it!

I've finally invested in maternity clothes for work - life changing! I don't think I'll be giving these trousers up post birth they are soooo comfortable. Everything I got was from next so can really recommend!

smellsofelderberries · 06/07/2016 09:15

Need I'm sorry you're having rib pain already! My little lady is still firmly south of my belly button and that's uncomfortable enough when she's sitting right at the front.

Fedup, I am in love with my maternity jeggings from New Look, I am already dreading the thought of going back into regular jeans not that they'll fit anytime soon after birth. Maternity clothes are fab!

Little girl had a lazy day yesterday. Had a few jabs through the night after various loo visits (please tel me I'm not the only one up at least twice a nice to wee!) so have just been Googling tales of loss of movement. I decided to poke my tummy a bit and she starts kicking away, but I can only feel the kicks with my hand! I can't feel her kicking my tummy Confused very strange. Anyway, several definite kicks later and I think I can safely put Google away now.

coppergrey · 06/07/2016 10:36

Had my scan this morning - all went really well! Everything looking and measuring as it should, she's definitely a girl and was very wriggly!

Hope you're all ok and finding ways to cope with the worry... I got a bit obsessed with trying to find a pattern in the movement, some days there is and some days she's just quiet. I read somewhere that when they're having a growth spurt they're a bit quieter (maybe they're more tired?!) so that could account for fewer movements at this point.

My sciatica is pretty bad at the moment - know some of you have been struggling too and apparently being active is great for sciatica (unlike SPD where exercise can aggravate it) so I've bought a Fitbit and am trying to get out for regular walks to ease the pain a bit. Sitting at a desk all day is the worst thing you can do for it so really hoping this helps!

Also leaning towards the Bugaboo Cameleon - gonna go have a test push at the weekend!

Spottyladybird · 06/07/2016 19:26

My belly button is either a huge crater or really popped out, depending on baby position and my position.

I put a t shirt on for work today and had to change as I could see my belly button sticking out!!

AyeAmarok · 06/07/2016 19:39

Amazing yours changes Spotty!

Pregnancy is so weird.

I am also getting rib pain, have had it for a while now. Sitting down makes it much worse too.

Glad the scan went well copper!

I had mine yesterday. All OK so far. Didn't find out the sex as my hospital doesn't do it and we've decided not to find out anyway. Feel a bit more reassured knowing things are still OK!

Also think I'm starting to feel movement, but only when my stomach is pressed against something, eg the seatbelt when I'm driving, or my jeans which are starting to get too tight...

bobcat85 · 06/07/2016 19:50

Great news on the scan copper, congrats.

I've be feeling movement every day this week so far. Mostly when I'm sat at my desk and sometimes in the evening. Makes me feel a bit better about the pregnancy, still doesn't feel real though.

I'm really struggling with sleep, the last couple of nights I've woken up about 4am and then can't get back to sleep. Atleast there's only 7 weeks and two days left at work, yay.
