A home for all of us enjoying the surreality of the first trimester. We're sick as dogs, exhausted to the core, our boobs hurt, we've developed superhuman senses of smell and we're shirking all alcoholic bevvies with a variety of lame excuses...

...we're preggers and over the moon! Join us if you're due in February 2017 and fancy wisdom for the weirdness, support for any sadness, and a safe place where you can get excited about what the future holds, before you go public!

Third thread already (we're a chatty bunch!) Second thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2662110-Due-in-February-2017-thread-2?

spin so sorry for your loss. Like others have said I hope all is okay with twin 1

gumbootsandjandals · 28/06/2016 15:50

So sorry for your loss spin. I hope twin 1 sticks like mad and everything looks good on the rescan.

ellms my worst stretch marks are from puberty. I had some tiny ones under bump first pg that just went. Second pg, even though I put the same amount of wt on, I was slightly bigger (tummy and arse) and have more marks, but the puberty ones still trump them.

ellms1 · 28/06/2016 16:09

Well that is very reassuring, Gumboots . My mum was the same as you and had them worse from puberty than pregnancy. But mine are much more bold and longer than my mums. My grandma got lots and lots from pregnancy, I hope I take after my mum and not her! it's a hit or miss really!Hmm

sleepyMe12 · 28/06/2016 16:17

Hi ellms I'm a firm believer if you are going to get stretch marks they are going to get them however I believe you can reduce how bad they will be.
My mum had horrific stretch marks so had my sister and I was determined not to get them as bad.
I made sure I drank water all the time and moisturised everyday, now I did get them but not half as bad as my sister even thou I was probably twice the size! (4lb baby vs 9lb baby)

jpclarke · 28/06/2016 16:21

So sorry to hear your news Spin, it is bitter sweet but thankfully you are still holding on to twin 1 I hope it all works out for you. I have two friends that the same thing happened, friend a it happened twice but twin 1 was ok both times. Twin 2 in my two friends case delivered with baby at full term. My thoughts are with you, do something nice for yourself and allow yourself time to grieve for twin 1. Flowers

Whiskeyjack · 28/06/2016 16:29

Hi all! Can I join? I am due Feb 16th but think it will be later when I get my dating scan. I have one dc who will be 2.5 when baby arrives! Thankfully still napping every day, I usually go down at same time, I am so tired! Symptoms are much stronger this time and I am much more bloated. I don't want to get into maternity clothes just yet, just in case. But they would be so much more comfortable!

Hazandduck · 28/06/2016 16:37

Just caught up I am so sorry spin crossing everything for you xx

jpclarke · 28/06/2016 17:18

Hazanduck I hope you are ok, that must of been very disheartening but at least you got a heartbeat which is the most important thing.

jpclarke · 28/06/2016 17:20

Has anyone told anyone in real life? I think I want to try and keep this one a secret for as long as possible although it is number 3 so my body might give it away sooner than I would like. When is everyone planning on telling people?

SkyLucy · 28/06/2016 17:25

Take care of yourself spin - I've got everything crossed that your fighter of a twin will thrive.

I'm sorry you feel disheartened haz. I had a similar experience last week - by my LMP I should be 7+6, but my scan last week put me much earlier - I'm only 6+4 today. I felt quite angry/upset that I have to go through the 'milestones' I'd already thought I'd cleared, but I've made my peace with it now. Seeing the heartbeat is a great sign - and yes, you may get MS, but you might not! Lots of us seem to be having nausea without vomiting.

Time is passing as slowly as a slug through tar, so I've found that either sleeping or keeping ridiculously busy is keeping me sane. The worst thing to do is ruminate!

raddersmrs · 28/06/2016 17:40

5+4 here and suffering so bad with tiredness today I had to come home from work and been sleeping since.
As its so early I am worried this is going to get worse and how to cope with it.

Has anyone any recommendation for the tiredness? Please tell me it's not everyday and comes and goes.

Sorry to hear spin and hope twin 1 is ok. Xx

Masweetpea1 · 28/06/2016 18:17

Don't think we're having such a good day as a group, my Brown bleeding has increased and i have cramps today. Phoned epu and they have booked me in for a scan on Thursday 7th.
Thankfully i have my private scan on Saturday, but the waiting is horrendous Sad
Trying to be positive but feel like I'm starting my period and just want to go to bed.

Dutchy88 · 28/06/2016 18:21

spin I'll have everything crossed for the remaining twin.

sweetpea I've just had a positive scan after three weeks of red and brown bleeding so I'll have everything crossed for you x

I've just gotten back from my scan and we saw a heartbeat. I'm measuring 7 weeks exactly (against dates of 7+2) and therefore have a due date of 14th February. I'm so deliriously happy after three weeks of bleeding!!

Hope others are well.

HighHopes16 · 28/06/2016 18:28

Fantastic news Dutchy - it must've been such a relief to see the heartbeat?
sweetpea - going by this thread, spotting is so common in pregnancy but I'm glad they are scanning you to put your mind to rest. Flowers

CeeCeeEnnEss · 28/06/2016 18:33

Oh spin I'm so sorry for your loss. I really hope twin 1 stays in there and all goes well.

Yay for dutchy, what a relief :)

Itslittlek · 28/06/2016 18:47

dutchy I am so pleased to hear this, have been checking back to see how you have got in today. I have been in the same position myself and I know how draining it is to keep telling yourself to be positive. What a relief for you.

spin and sweetpea sending my best wishes x

Jojoclaire · 28/06/2016 18:55

It's such a rollercoaster for everyone, thinking of you spin, haz and sweetpea and everyone else tired, bleeding, feeling sick and worrying.

radders I think it comes and goes? Not sure about everyone else but I notice such a difference in my energy the day after I've had a nap in the evening or early night.

dutchy that's reassuring news, so pleased for you.

Hazandduck · 28/06/2016 19:38

Thank you sky jp and jojo as much as I hate to hear everyone suffering it is reassuring to know so many people are in the same boat. That is exactly how I felt about all the milestones ;( starting to feel out of the woods...as awful as it sounds I kind of want to forget I am even pregnant for another 6 weeks so I don't have to worry! I am knackered today not sure if it's coz of the scan and the disappointment but am already in bed! Going to try and focus on kther things. I know it is my own stupid fault but I had told a couple of my nearest and dearest when I thought I was 7 weeks - I was so confident I was at least that. Now it feels like taking massive steps back and all the worry of surviving the dreaded 6th week all over again...hey ho. We are all going through it! Hope everyone is ok today xx

GinandJazzHands · 28/06/2016 19:47

Hi all and welcome newbies!
spin so sorry for your loss and keeping everything crossed for your twin No1 Flowers
dutchy great news and what a relief!
6+0 here. Got 3+ weeks on a CB which I'm happy about. Sickness and the runs have both kicked in with a vengeance. What healthy snacks do people find helps ms? I'm overweight, keen to keep eating sensibly and failing fast. Really don't want to have to fess up to work this early but finding it a struggle already.

Jojoclaire · 28/06/2016 19:57

Gin I wouldn't say it's helped with sickness but whenever I've had a window of feeling like I can eat something at work, I've been munching on almonds and banana. I do think the snacking keeps the MS away as I do mainly get it first thing and end of the day.

By the way, MIL was excited to tell me on Sunday that eating fruit makes the baby more intelligent... A new one on me! Anyone else had that or similar old wives tales?

FriendlyGhost · 28/06/2016 20:02

So sorry for your loss spin. I hope the other one is holding on tightly.
Dutchy that is absolutely fantastic news. We share a due date!
Welcome newbies and congrats on the bfps.
I'm seven weeks today and told my parents today. They're over the moon. It feels like a massive relief to have finally told my mum.

Jojoclaire · 28/06/2016 20:08

Actually, there may be something in it, there were a few articles in the press last month...

LondonGirl83 · 28/06/2016 20:33

Spin so sorry to hear you've lost a twin but fingers crossed the other baby

Dutchy that's great news

Haz the fact you've seen a heartbeat the mc risk goes way down so hopefully that helps

birdboo · 28/06/2016 21:11

Take care SpinFlowers

After a nightmare few days I'm finally back home. We went for a weekend in Bath, I started to cramp with brown spotting so spent Monday morning in Bath EPU. The first thought was that it might be ectopic.

I had a scan which showed only the sac in the right place which is apparently totally normal at 5 weeks. No blood test to check hcg because I'm not local. I have to make an appointment with my GP for another scan. There has been no more bleeding and I still have symptoms, horrible sickness in the mornings which seems to go into sheer exhaustion for the afternoon (if could have fallen asleep up right today I would).

I'm over analysing every twing and I'm convinced every bit of discharge is going to be a bleed.

LondonGirl83 · 28/06/2016 22:43

Birdboo, if you still have symptoms (strong ones at that) I absolutely wouldn't worry. I hope your next scan goes well!
