alphabook · 26/06/2016 10:50

Congrats Bridget, Catalina and Raro!
I've told one friend so far because she asked me how my treatment was going. I'm seeing another close friend next week so I'll probably end up telling her. I don't think I'll be telling everyone until after 12 weeks, in the mean time I'll tell my close family and friends if and when it feels right.

CatalinaFuckingWineMixer · 26/06/2016 11:07

Thanks alpha
So far I've told my boss and my best friend at work. I do quite a physical job and I don't think I could have hidden it from them.
I'd like to tell my parents next month on my dads birthday, I'll only be 8 weeks though so I think we'll just wait and see how we feel at that time. My lovely MIL is a health visitor at my GP surgery so I think we'll need to tell the ILs sooner than 12 weeks too as I wouldn't want her to accidentally find out through work. In an ideal world we'll tell everyone else after the 12 week scan but I'm so bad at keeping secrets I think the cat may be out of the bag before then!

BridgetDoodle · 26/06/2016 11:29

I just told my mum on the phone. She is absolutely delighted, this will be the first grandchild!
I've told my best friend, cousin and SIL. They all knew I was TTC and either have a baby or are pregnant so I can talk to them. Going to try and keep it quiet till scan from everyone else. IL are on high alert following my SIL so I think they'll guess soon enough!

mynameisntLinda · 26/06/2016 14:54

I didn't tell anyone with my first butility I was puking everumornjng so the 3 girls in my office knew from 6 weeks but we're sworn to secrecy.and fil only found out coz he came round to help decorate and I was hugging the toilet for the 3 days he was there and he was genuinely concerned so we had to tell him lol
I'm gonna try and keep quiet this time but I've already had a few bouts of nausea so not sure I can.
I really want to tell my friend but because sheshe ttc and due to start fertility treatment I feel like its not the right time. :/
I do want to tell everyone coz I'm so excited but i hate all the attention being pregnant gets so I kind of want to avoid it as long as possible.

NameChange30 · 26/06/2016 15:06

Those of you who already have DCs, please can you tell me whether your due date was revised after your 12 week scan, and if so by how much?

I started a new job on 1st June and I've been checking my SMP entitlement... If my due date is on or before 4th March, I won't get SMP, but if it's on or after 5th March, I will. Based on the date of my last period, and my average cycle length, my EDD is 2nd March, so I really need it to be delayed by 3 days at the scan!

2ManySweets · 26/06/2016 16:38

Linda could not agree more. I found the attention pretty overwhelming and I am split between wanting to tell folk just to see the shock on people's faces but also to keep quiet.

Name change; DD was initially estimated at 2/2/16 (by last menstrual period aka LMP); but at the 12w scan her due date was revised back to 29/1/16.

She eventually appeared at 42w on the 11 Feb this year.

2ManySweets · 26/06/2016 16:39

Oh and HELLO to new peeps!

neonrainbow · 26/06/2016 18:34

Has anyone else had this? Upon telling people I've had a couple of them go "i KNEW it!!!" Even though nobody at all knew we were ttc and whenever anyone asked me if kids were on the cards i replied "no way not yet" so how could anyone possibly known?!?

BridgetDoodle · 26/06/2016 18:41

No doubting it at all now 😊 beyond happy!
I have been feeling semi nauseous all day but I've had consistent light cramps all day. No discharge or blood so hoping baby is just bedding down for the next 8 months!
Neon my best friend said she just knew this month I was going to be pregnant. I don't think anyone else knows, but it won't come as a shock when I tell them. Family are expecting a LO within a year of getting married I'd say.
Hello 2manysweets, so pleased to be able to join this thread 😍

Big congrats to all the new bfps, it's getting nice and busy on here! x

mynameisntLinda · 26/06/2016 20:02

neon first time round I remember telling my dad at 11 weeks coz I'd been for a scan. I popped in and gave him the scan picture and he just said "I knew that's what you were gonna tell me" .everyone else was mega shocked as they didn't know I didn't have the coil anymore and I'd always said I wasn't interested in kids.
namechange my due date was changed twice. Thought it was about the 9th. Then Was the 11th at booking in (based on guessed conception ) then was the 13th at the scan (he didn't arrive until 21st)

Have you checked it on this namechange

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/06/2016 20:25

Hello, can I tentatively join in? I've had 3 very faint BFPs on some cheap Amazon tests but I won't be convinced until I do the digital test tomorrow when it arrives in the food shop. If I am, I'm about 4 weeks... Second month of trying but I'm already having an "OMG what have I done" feeling! Had an MC in Sept last year and took a break from trying for a while.

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/06/2016 20:29

I've also had a lot of cramping like I did last time so I guess I've kind of convinced myself it's sadly going to end the same way.

alphabook · 26/06/2016 20:32

Welcome and good luck Jezebel!

I also had an early mc last year so I completely understand how you're feeling, cramping is normal in pregnancy but it's still worrying. I'm expecting blood every time I go to the toilet!

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/06/2016 20:34

Thanks... Me too! I'm scared to tell anyone, told too many people last time because I was in shock, trying to keep it a bit quieter this time! Already struggling to keep my caffeine intake down, ive developed a terrible habit in the last few months. Have a friend staying as well and it's been difficult keeping it from her!

BridgetDoodle · 26/06/2016 20:42

Congratulations Jezebel! I have had cramps all day also, been so worried but I've been reassured it can be totally normal so fingers crossed that all our babies stick! X

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/06/2016 20:45

Thanks... Sending good (sticky) vibes in return!

WelliesAndCake · 26/06/2016 21:27

Hi everyone! Can I join in please? I'm 35, 1st pregnancy and 50% excited/50% nervous! I'm about 4 weeks along, due on 6th March with VERY sore boobs, super tired, cramps on and off, and losing my memory already! Hope you all had a good weekend and are feeling ok.

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/06/2016 21:51

Hi WelliesAndCake...congratulations! Glad to hear everyone has similar symptoms to me, it's easy to worry when you don't have anyone to talk to about it.

alphabook · 26/06/2016 22:01

Congrats Wellies!

NameChange30 · 27/06/2016 07:40

Hello and congrats to everyone who's joined since I last said it!

Thank you 2many and myname. The gov.uk calculator is useful, I did use it but have mainly been using the Citizens Advice one to change the due date and see what difference it would make:
www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/rights-at-work/parental-rights/check-what-maternity-pay-you-can-get/
I think I'm just going to have to wait and see what happens at the scan - only 7 weeks to go!! Confused

Symptom-wise I am still crampy, and given that lots of us are, I guess it must be normal? It is making me a bit nervous though, I'm checking for bleeding when I go to the loo!

Also sorry if this is TMI but I've had diarrhoea for the last few days Blush

DaisyBank82 · 27/06/2016 10:17

Tentative wave, Hi everyone. I think I'm on this bus too :) first positive test on Sat, then another today with a slightly stronger line (but still quite faint - period would have been due today or thereabouts). I have been ttc for quite a while - basically since my periods returned after my daughter was born and she is nearly two years old now! It has taken longer than we expected but I only stopped breastfeeding a month ago and even though my periods had been back for over a year I think feeding was affecting my fertility.
My due date according to the NHS website is 4th March but DD was born at 37+3 so if this pregnancy sticks (and I really hope it does!) I will be on high alert from Feb onwards as I was very surprised to go into labour early last time! I don't have any symptoms yet other than tiredness. I was pretty sick last time but it didn't kick in until I was about 6 weeks, as far as I remember.
Does anyone know if it's OK if I carry on taking the Pregnacare TTC or if I should switch to a pregnancy vit now? I guess it's fine to take when pregnant as so many must do without realising. I have about 7 tablets left so would prefer to finish it before buying a new pack? I haven't told anyone apart from DH and very close friend yet but I think family in law know as we all had a big gathering this weekend and they will have clocked me not drinking. I'm usually quite keen on a glass or two of something and don't need much encouragement! We have a family holiday booked end of July so I will probably tell folks then if all is progressing as it should. I haven't really thought about how/ when to tell my daughter. She is very aware and smart so no doubt she will pick up on it at some point.

Hope those who are feeling rough are getting lots of support.

alphabook · 27/06/2016 10:55

Congrats Daisy!

I'm still finishing off my Pregnacare Conception, I checked and it has the recommended amount of folic acid and vit D in pregnancy, and nothing harmful like vitamin A.
