Congrats Monkey and Notta!

WelliesAndCake · 27/06/2016 23:08

Hi all and congratulations! Is anyone else really bloated? I'm already loosening my trousers and the little one is only the size of a poppy seed apparently! Added to that, my boobs are growing every day and very sore - I've found out that driving too fast over speed bumps, and trying to 'run' upstairs is not a good idea! Only 4 weeks in and I'm already bloated, tired and sore! Other than that, feeling good and no nausea so far... hope you are all doing ok.

CatalinaFuckingWineMixer · 28/06/2016 05:38

wellies I'm ridiculously bloated too. I've been eating really healthily so it definitely isn't down to my diet. I wear elasticated trousers for work oh so glamorous and they're already pressing on my tummy so much I've had to fold down the waist band. And don't get me started on the boobs! I've always been a GG cup so they've never been comfortable but I'm already feeling like I need to buy a bigger bra. Woebetide anyone DH who tries to touch them! Feel strangely pleased though because I like the reminder that there's something happening inside me.

Sparrowlegs248 · 28/06/2016 07:29

Thanks Alpha. Seems strange to beach on these boards.

I'm bloated too, even before the sickness and tiredness hit me mytummy was sticking out. And tmi copious amounts of wind!! Not stinky, just vast amounts of it. If I remember rightly thebloating went away after a couple of weeks.

Envious of thosewho aren't feeling sick.

2ManySweets · 28/06/2016 07:59

Not feeling sick...yet. But the bloating: Christ.

After my CS, I sprang back. And then MASSIVELY un-sprang leading to a massive gut overhang. Then I re-started the couch to 5k and seriously cut the crap out of my diet. Nice flattening starting to show.

Now? BOINGGGGGGGG

2ManySweets · 28/06/2016 08:00

You could actually use my tummy as one of those springboards they use to launch themselves on the pommel horse in the gymnastics.

Sparrowlegs248 · 28/06/2016 09:26

2many yes I was pre preg weight 17days after my cs. Not any more!!

Dustycorners · 28/06/2016 10:16

Hello, room for another? I got my BFP on Sunday at 10dpo. I think my edd is around 9 March. I had some bleeding yesterday which made me think I was heading for a chemical, but that has stopped and I still got a positive test this morning, so I'm trying to be optimistic!

I have a DS who is 14 months old, but before him my first pregnancy ended in mmc at 14 weeks, so with my son I didn't really accept I was pregnant until about 20 weeks. I'm going to try to be a bit more relaxed this time and just keep reminding myself that today I am pregnant! I want to enjoy it.

No symptoms yet but the last couple of times I had horrible nausea and bloating from 6 weeks, so I'm expecting that again - time to dig out the stretchy clothes and stock up on beige carbs!

Dustycorners · 28/06/2016 10:26

Nehalsd I had my ds at UCLH and had no complaints. Good ante natal care and they were great when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in the final tri. I was induced and spent 3 days on the ward for that with good care (but no sleep!). I had to give birth on the labour ward due to induction and the consultants were brilliant when it all got tricky towards the end and were very skilled at avoiding EMCS.

I had to spend a night on the post-natal ward and the care was good (zero chance of sleep though!).

The MLU looked great too, though I never got to use it.

All in all I would def recommend it and would love to use it again... but I've since left London and will probably go to the Lister in Stevenage this time - interested to see how it compares!

alphabook · 28/06/2016 12:07

Congrats Dusty!
I'm really bloated as well, and be careful what you wish for as nausea seems to have kicked in today!
I also feel like I've had a free boob job, they feel really firm and round! Weird!

alphabook · 28/06/2016 12:08

(Speaking as someone who was wishing to feel sick I mean!)

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 28/06/2016 13:50

Can I tentatively join too? I've had 2 feint positives this morning at about 9DPO, we've been trying in a fairly relaxed fashion since Nov last year, DC2 for me but first for DP.

alphabook · 28/06/2016 14:10

Congrats gininteacups!

DaisyBank82 · 28/06/2016 15:58

Congrats on your bfps Dusty and Gininteacups :)
I am also feeling really bloated. Still no nausea though. I am peeing all the time but I think that's because I am drinking more than usual (feeling more thirsty). This morning I started reading the book "Expecting Better" on my kindle and so far it's really interesting. Even though this isn't my first pregnancy I'm still learning loads.
I just booked my booking in apt with the midwife. I don't feel the need to see the GP this time (it was a waste of time last time anyway!). Only I discovered the mw only works Fridays, I and I will be on hols for two Fridays in July, which means my booking in apt is either week 7 or week 10. I've gone for 7 as I don't want to delay the scan referral but I hope she's not cross with me for being early... my last midwife was wonderful but I've moved surgeries since then. In fact she has left the NHS and gone private so I had a look at her website to see how much she would charge for antenatal care - needless to say it's more than I can afford!
I've also been googling miscarriage rates as I had one around now with my first pregnancy. That's the problem with finding out so early. Tryign to stay positive but the first 12 weeks is such an anxious time. I swing from being excited/ hopeful one minute and scared/ anxious the next.

Cantstringawordtogether · 28/06/2016 16:43

Daisy the first 12 weeks are head wrecking, I'm so anxious too!

Congrats dusty and gininteacups :)

I'm mad bloated too, thank goodness I'm finishing work for the summer, couldn't be dealing with people speculating! Also crazy emotional, just feel on the edge of tears the whole time, crazy lady!

alphabook · 28/06/2016 17:08

I'm also swinging between hopeful and anxious. Time seems to be going ridiculously slowly, my first scan feels like a million years away!

SecretScaryFriend · 28/06/2016 18:51

Hi

May I join you please? I got my BFP on Saturday at about 10dpo. Retested yesterday as I didn't quite believe it and got another positive but also had some spotting yesterday so I am feeling anxious too. Edd is 8 March so very similar to Dusty.
Hopefully this will be DC2. DC1 is 2.5.

My last pregnancy was gloriously trouble free so I am hoping this one gets with the programme soon.

alphabook · 28/06/2016 19:44

Congrats Secret! Could be implantation bleeding?

WelliesAndCake · 28/06/2016 21:18

Thanks everyone and congratulations to the new BFPs - good to know it's not just me swelling up like a beach ball already! I'm not planning on telling friends and family until after my scan so it's really great to have this group to talk to.

Daisy - how is the book? I'd like to get one if there is a good one. And an app on my phone. I have the Ovia app at the mo but is there something better? I want to read about pregnancy and get excited but on the other hand I don't in case something goes wrong!

Jjspoon · 28/06/2016 21:30

Hi all Grin I got my BFP today (cd28). daisy I have been so thirsty today too! Really random but I have not stopped drinking all day, didn't think it might be connected!

I've had no symptoms at all yet except some light cramps, I'm still in shock and convinced af is going to show up but here's to being positive :).

I'm looking for a good book recommendation too. I got 'the whole 9 months' for my OH but haven't got one for myself yet.

DaisyBank82 · 28/06/2016 21:45

Jjspoon and Wellies I'm only 16% in (read some on train on the way to work and back) but it's very interesting. Written by an economics professor who found the lack of evidence / data behind pregnancy guidelines frustrating so she did lots of her own research to make decisions about her pregnancy. She doesn't tell you what to do, but shares her findings/ raw data so you can make your own decisions. I don't know that there's much I'd do differently this pregnancy than my last but I wasn't that well informed so I'm finding it useful. I wish I had read it the first time around!
I don't have a pregnancy app this time yet as having phone storage issues (too many photos of DD!) but I used baby centre last time and found it quite fun. I'll try the Ovia one this time as I used the ttc tracker and liked it.

DaisyBank82 · 28/06/2016 21:48

Welcome Secret! I hope the spotting stops. There's a whole thread dedicated to pregnancy bleeds and how common it is. I really hope it's nothing in your case.

neonrainbow · 28/06/2016 22:52

Im also on the look out for any good pregnancy books. I don't mind spending a bit on kindle for any particularly good ones.

NameChange30 · 28/06/2016 23:28

More BFPs, yay! Congrats Smile

I've read "Expecting Better" by Emily Oster and "Bump" by Kate Evans. They are very different but both good! I did find Oster's tone a bit annoying but she has done her research and it's useful. There is a chapter on miscarriage stats which some people might find reassuring (although I realise a statistic is no consolation if it happens to you). "Bump" is more comprehensive and holistic, and it has excellent illustrations, so it's worth getting the actual book rather than the Kindle version.

I've also downloaded the Ovia pregnancy app and it seems pretty good so far.

DaisyBank82 · 29/06/2016 11:13

Morning! I did another (3rd) test today and the line is certainly darker than it was on the other two :) I still don't feel sick yet (I wish I did as a it's a strong sign of a healthy pregnancy!) but I do feel a bit peculiar. I had to stand on the train today and I felt really hot and a bit breathless. I nearly fainted on the train at about 18 weeks last time so it did bring back some not so nice memories. I wondered about getting a baby on board badge but it's probably too early. I would be nervous of wearing it in case I saw a colleague especially for the last leg of the journey as it's fairly normal to run into someone at the tube station. I do wish it was more normal to tell people earlier in some ways, though, as I was more in need of a seat in the early days of very sick pregnancy last time than when I was feeling good in the second/ early part of the third trimester! Anyone else commuting? When will you start wearing a badge?!
Namechange I don't mind the tone of the Ostler book - it feels very familiar to me as I work for a very data driven company (although I'm not hugely analytical myself!). She does ram some points home a bit though - and I thinking "OK, I get it now". I'm only 22% in... And I've still given up caffeine even though she's pretty clear that evidence suggests you don't need to!
