A thread for all of us who have very recently discovered we're upduffed, with a due date of the achingly-long-away February 2017. It's early days for us all so there's lots of good news, sad news, sage advice and never-too-silly questions.

Second thread already! First is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2642653-Due-in-February-2017?

Thanks ladies feel better now :)
I don't know why I wasted it, my fmu was almost clear! I may aswell had pissed on a fiver!

lizard gin is right, you may be a lot earlier than you think. Why do you think you conceived in those dates? You could of ovulated past 15th may but dtd days before and still conceived.

And re: spotting, I'm pretty much one of the only ones on this thread that hasn't had spotting! If it gets heavier call the docs Flowers

twocatsandatoddler · 18/06/2016 09:12

lizard I agree with what a lot have said - spotting is very common and doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. I think it's usually because of increased blood flow to your cervix. Cramping is also very common - I haven't had any for a while (7+6) but I had mild cramps at 4-5 weeks. So the two aren't necessary related and if it's just a few spots it's probably nothing but worry about. But do call your GP or EPU for assurance if you're worried - they may be able to offer an early scan.

twocatsandatoddler · 18/06/2016 09:15

Sorry, lizard, just seen you have already had a scan. Sometimes the dates just don't tie up to LMP so if your scan and CB are broadly aligned then I'd just go with that. Your 12 week scan will confirm a lot more accurately - I think there's a reason they have to do that between about 10 and 14 weeks as its hard to be accurate outside of that window.

leedsladyx · 18/06/2016 09:32

Hi ladies, hope you are all well and don't mind me tagging along. Smile
I am so jealous of all the scans, I'm 5+3 today and I'm having baby no1. I can't get booked in to my local one until I'm 9 weeks! Think I am going to have to look else where, that still seems too far away. I was hoping for one around 7 weeks. I just want to know if my little bean is healthy! Only symptoms so far is sore boobs, fingers crossed it stays like this for a bit longer!!

lizardqueenie · 18/06/2016 09:36

Thanks all for your advice and reassurance. After I posted went to the loo and what had been brown spotting was then redder so...am a bit chicken and have just come down to the urgent care centre at the local hospital just really to see someone, get some advice etc. Bleeding doesn't seem to be continuous but I thought if I didn't do something I would sit and worry more without any advice on what I should/ shouldn't be doing (if anything!). Sorry tying myself in knots here but just waiting to be seen. And of course- had to do a wee sample & for the first time in my life wasn't able to do so! Managed to squeeze a wee out now. Will see what they say.

lizardqueenie · 18/06/2016 09:42

And sorry think that was my date of conception because it was a bit of a contraceptive slip but i guess you can never be 100% sure

lawyeredout82 · 18/06/2016 10:18

lizard, with DD, I went to the EPU as I collapsed in the bathroom so they did an early scan to check not ectopic etc. When I was there they could only see an empty sac. I had to go back a week later for a further scan where they saw the feotus and the heartbeat!! This would have been around the same dates as you (almost 2 years ago to the day). She turned out to just be a late developer and caught up later on in the pregnancy but at first she was just slow!! It's possible that implantation happened late and you have the same thing so please try not to worry. Glad you're getting checked out anyway xx

Scarydinosaurs · 18/06/2016 10:30

I hope you get an answer today lizard Flowers

shadz · 18/06/2016 10:35

7 weeks today thanking God for every day/week that goes by Halo

wispaxmas · 18/06/2016 10:37

Definitely what twocats said about dating scans being less reliable before 10-ish weeks, but I think the reason the NHS scan is between 11+0 and 13+6 is for the nuchal translucency measurement as it has to be done between those dates.

lizard, I do hope yours is going to be a happy story in the end, good luck!

lizardqueenie · 18/06/2016 11:31

Thanks all, got seen quote quickly- (bless our nhs) and Dr reassured after doing a test that there was still a v strong positive line- she even joked it was an Nhs test and not a CB one. She said that some of the spotting & cramp feeling can be completely normal particularly in second & then subsequent pregnancies, particularly different between your 20s & 30s. She was reassuring and said that the scan I had on thur ruled out anything ectopic and that as I had another booked in a couple of weeks time it would be worth sitting tight for that. So that's what I'm going to do. She said rest & really look after myself which I also intend to do. She said I could go for another scan but then you do run a small risk of disturbing things again. The bleeding has stopped for now, nothing else since that red blood this morning (sorry tmi). Huge thanks to you ladies, haven't posted on here much at all & always so touched by the support other MNers give each other. Cup of tea and feet up here I come Brew

SkyLucy · 18/06/2016 11:44

That sounds really reassuring lizard - make sure you follow the wise advice to look after yourself.

I'm feeling a bit wobbly this morning...was pleased to be steadily crawling towards 6 weeks (Tuesday), but then DH told me he went for a drink with a friend whose wife had an mc at 7 weeks. She persevered and got pg again straight away and is now 11 wks, which is fabulous - but I can't let go of the 'mc at 7 weeks' fact. Sigh.

What lovely plans has everyone got for this weekend? I've been coerced into a family break in the Lake District (which I can't stand, sorry any Lakes lovers!!) - I was planning on going riding but it's prob a bit risky! So, going to risk the hot tub at the local spa instead (only for a bit, promise). AND I had runny poachies for breakfast (Red Lion-stamped, promise.) Who knew life could get so dangerous?!

lizard I had loads of bleeding after having an internal scan with my second- it was really worrying. It turns out I have a sensitive cervix and bled all the way through the pregnancy. It was fine, just really disconcerting. I hope the next few weeks go quickly!

HighHopes16 · 18/06/2016 12:00

That's good news lizard get lots of rest. Flowers

GinandJazzHands · 18/06/2016 12:10

Good news Lizard! Told my mum last night, only 4+3 today. She was delighted and seemed to have a very pragmatic view when we talked about the early mc chances. Felt so good to talk to her about her pregnancy etc, so glad I have spilled the beans early. That said it has increased my excitement levels and I am trying to remain as detached as possible until 12 weeks. Got sucked into looking online at cot beds earlier. My plan is to get a lot second hand and not to buy anything until 12 weeks, but is anyone else guilty of getting a bit carried away?

Evergreen17 · 18/06/2016 12:15

Sky one of my best friends had a mc at 8 weeks
She now has a beautiful set of twins Smile
I have spoken to her a lot

It is hard to think about it but she said not to worry as beyond my control and that she now sees it as that baby wasnt healthy and she wouldnt have the twins niw if things hadnt happened that way

Point is that some people mc at 5, 8, 18...

But think this. Today I have an 80% chances of having a healthy baby.

If you were to have surgery and they said well you have 80% chances of it going wrong you wouldnt have it would you? Because 80% is huge!

So why are we all obsessed with the 20 (me first!)

Today we are pregnant.

Nothing we can do but try to stay positive

I am writing a diary and it helps

Hugs FlowersFlowers

Ah! When my friend was over 6 months she had to rush to hospital. She was told she had 75% chances of losing the twins.

I think this will be a bumpy ride. But life is this way Smile

Masweetpea1 · 18/06/2016 12:21

Morning all, I've just been to Zumba! Thought it was a good idea and i really enjoyed it, but super dizzy now, oops.

gin, When i had my 1st, i joined some local sites on Facebook. They're 'mum' sites for the local area. It's normally the town name and then mums of something similar. Eg stockport mums. This has been an absolute godsend for getting 2nd hand stuff. I have bought all of my dds clothes from this site, you can get bin bags full of clothes for £10-20. It's in great condition because they are in the clothes for such a short time. I've bought travel high chairs, nappy bins, clothes, curtains, toys, all sorts. Cheaper than ebay too. Definitely worth a look for all you new mums. I wish I'd known about it before having my dd as i could have saved even more!!

Sunshineface123 · 18/06/2016 12:28

sky I'll be 6 weeks Tuesday too, also looking forward to that day! Got mid wife appt on the Thursday. Have you seen anyone yet? Smile

Sunshineface123 · 18/06/2016 12:29

Mas I'm impressed!! Still in pjs here Blush

wispaxmas · 18/06/2016 12:33

Gin, I was sooooo antsy to get purchasing stuff last time round, but held off as we were living temporarily in Paris and in the midst of buying a house, which we completed on mid-pregnancy. Once we moved in I went shopping mad, though, and had the nursery done within a couple weeks Grin

I did buy certain things second hand though, like the pram. There are great selling groups on Facebook for prams and clothes that are UK wide, even if your local selling groups are crap. Mine are pretty lousy, but I've bought two bugaboos, a connecta, and a Tula (baby carriers, both) on Facebook groups.

My main guilty pleasure shopping-wise is Polarn o pyret, I'm so addicted to their stuff Blush

FriendlyGhost · 18/06/2016 13:22

Glad you're ok Lizard
I'm also 6 weeks on Tuesday sunshine and sky. It's the first mini milestone I want to get to.
Last time I didn't buy anything until after the 20 week scan. This time I've already started looking at toddler beds and furniture for dd so she can move into a bigger bedroom and it can be hers before a new baby arrives. I've also been looking at extra seats to make the buggy a double. I would also like a toddler tula because I currently use the sling more than the buggy and one in a sling might be easier with two. Possibly getting carried away!
I got quite a few clothes second hand from the NCT nearly new sales so they're worth checking out. I also buy things in the sales a couple of sizes too big so I have plenty of stuff in reserve. I have a soft spot for jojo stuff and the sales are brilliant.

lizardqueenie · 18/06/2016 13:24

Thanks all. I've treated dd to some new Lego the way home from the hospital so she is quiet with that whilst I'm sipping a camomile tea. Grin

evergreen that's so true, I think it's natural to worry but that's a much more positive way of looking at things. My DP is eternally optimistic whereas I'm much more of a worrier. Here is to the 80% - bloody good chances when you think about it.

gin can second the second hand sites and nearly new sales if you have any local to you. I've just got around to letting quote a few bits go after 5 years! And then finding myself unexpectedly but happily pg again. It's def not worth buying everything new- especially as you can by second hand in near new condition. Always nice to browse though... Wink

PhoebeGeebee · 18/06/2016 13:40

If I wasn't pregnant (and therefore not drinking) I'd have sworn I've woken up with a hangover today. Got a pounding headache and awful nausea. We're staying with friends and they cooked a huge breakfast, I managed a slice of toast. Now nibbling on ginger biscuits.

For those with MS, is this what it feels like?!

wispaxmas · 18/06/2016 13:42

friendly, I LOVE my toddler Tula, but surely you'd carry the new baby and your toddler would walk or be in the pushchair? Or would you tandem carry them?? I've also been planning my DDs big girl room recently. I want to get her transitioned out of the nursery well in advance of the new baby, so that there aren't too many changes all at once, I don't want to have to deal with any potential fall out from moving her when also dealing with a newborn. Having so much fun planning the room, though - I've wallpapered it and even made a beanbag chair to match the wallpaper! Now just need to get her bed, but won't do that for a while yet.

Blueskies80 · 18/06/2016 13:49

Phoebee yes I feel like I have a really bad hangover I can't shift, slightly paranoid/stressed too..... Need to eat but nothing tastes right, hugely thirsty too. Just yuck. The next four weeks can't go fast enough Xxx
