Birdiebump, I went to secondary school in Kingsteignton (lived in Bishopsteignton) then lived in Exeter to do A levels in Exeter college! Good luck with talking them into letting you deliver in Midwife unit
BBCK you poor thing that sounds awful, tuck yourself into bed

LOL at pelvic floors by watching living tv birthing programmes! Great idea

Birdiebump · 18/01/2007 13:26

Doing 'em Pesha - SQUEEEEEEZE!!!

Night night BBCFK!

Birdiebump · 18/01/2007 13:27

Lovely part of the world, Flump! Must get back to work now....

Pesha · 18/01/2007 13:46

Am really pissed off, i ordered a bed for dd off choice catalogue 2 weeks ago that was £100 instead of £200, had confirmation email and letter ans was expecting bed next week. Have just had a letter saying sorry they cant get anymore stock so i cant have it At the time there were a couple other beds around at similar prices in sale but i went for this one and been waiting 2 weeks so now everyone else sold out of everything too so only full price beds left. Basically they've just cost me another £100. And they're still selling the beds complete with matress at £258, just not without. I've rung up and had a go, she just kept saying there nothing she can do then eventually said write to customer services which i will but im so pissed off. And i gotta tell dd her lovely new bed she was so excited about isn't coming after all.

BBCFK - sorry to hear your not feeling well! Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the tip off re Kiddicare - probably less hassle to order from there then - really appreciate your advice and helpon this - saved me a good £70

The weather is TERRIFYING - every single fence panel in our work car park blew out this morning and now I am home things are flying round the garden. I am going to pick James up from my Mum later to save her driving in it - would rather Idrove him home than my Mum as she's not the most confident driver at the best of times.

Pesha - thank you for reminding me to do my one and only pelvic exercise this pregnancy so far....

Question....Does Big Onion do ironing?? I could do with him if he does - cannot be arsed at all to haul my ass of this chair.

1b3 - LOVE your scan pics - fantastic - please leave the fish - you are more important - have horrible visions of you being blown into pond head first by a big gustof wind!!

Laith - will try the sweet potato -I love them too so a good excuse to get them in.

Re my tummy - not hairy...innie is still in, no linea nigra thingy yet either?! I am sureI had it by now last time... Try not to look at stomach wherever possible if I can help it....no amount of art work would make it look any better

oh and lmao at "spit or swallow" that HAS to be a man who thought that one up! lol
x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/01/2007 14:24

Ooh flump, I was at Exeter College for 2 years. I did an OND in Business and Finance. I am older than you though I think and was there from 1987-1989.

BBCK, sorry to hear you are feeling so rough. Take it easy.

MIAM - sounds horrendous where you are weather wise. We have wind, but touch wood, nothing has blown down ... yet! pmsl at your request for BigOnion to do the ironing. If he is any good, can I have him after? I HATE IRONING. I would rather clean the lavs 20 times!

Pesha, sorry to hear about the bed balls up - how bloody annoying. Hope you get something sorted.

claricebean · 18/01/2007 14:51

Flump, good luck when your dh is away. I have about a month left to go! Not sure about tips but I keep sane (ish) by

  1. keeping strictly to kids' 8pm bedtime (DS at 7:30pm). that way i can count the hours down on a bad day. i need the evening to myself
  1. being kind to myself. am trying not to feel guilty about lack of housework / too much TV etc etc
  1. having skype and a webcam (just got the latter sorted last night). it means the dcs can talk and see daddy, so less issues about missing him to deal with; plus gives me an adult conversation in the evening for free (rather than international rates). i actually surprised myself with how nice it was to SEE dh while talking to him. thought i'd be just for the kids, but i really liked it too. made him feel less far away.

anyway, good luck with it all. how old are your dc?

weeonion · 18/01/2007 14:53

miabt - can i check that you are ordering nappies for the first time? i am too and havent been paying enough attention to teh discussions as to what is the best. what have u decided?

BBCK - hope you have had a lovely sleep.

poor pg people feeling poorly with the gales outside!

Bramshott · 18/01/2007 14:57

Have finally caught up on everyone's posts so better post something quick!! Now can't remember what anyone except a few people said however, as my brain is saggy - I am forgetting so much stuff at the moment!

Lovely scan pics 1b3!

Maveta - have you had your GTT test yet? Hope it was okay.

Pesha - good luck with the scan tomorrow.

Liath - did you ever get the scan they were going to do to check out the issues that came up at your 20 week one? Sorry, you've probably told us already and it's gone out of my saggy brain.

BBCK - how can you tell that the baby is back to back? I can tell mine is still moving around loads as sometimes the kicks are up high, and sometimes down low, and I can feel it when it shifts round completely which I must admit I don't like, but I couldn't tell you which way it was lieing at any particular time. What do you look out for?

It's very wild and windy here today, and I think our fence is going to blow over, which is as DH and the guy next door only put it up over the summer. DD and I are having a quiet afternoon and I've just been letting her do my hair (!).

muminabigtumi · 18/01/2007 15:20

Hi weeonion

Yes I am buying the nappies for the first time. I used Disposables with James.

I have to say that I have done lots of reading up - BBCFK advice was very valuable and then the real bonus was the Nappucino meeting I went to last week at the local library as that was briliant - I got to look and feel all the nappies and decided for myself what I liked and didn't before parting with any cash!!!

I have to say I could do the whole reusable thing alot cheaper if I wanted to but to be honest these OneLife ones are gorgeously soft, you don't need to keep changing the sizes as they have loads of poppers and can be used from birth to potty training etc and most of all - EASY to put on.....I think that Phil would struggle with the nappies where you put the prefold in the liner and don't get started on folding a terry square! (although I think I could do it quite easily...)

I bought a Bamboozle from Tots Bots - which was nice but I just personally preferred the One Life ones when I got my hands on them.
Best thing I would advise is contact the waste management dept of your lcoal council to see if they have any incentive schemes (mine gives you £45 if you buy from a local supplier) or get in contact with a lollipop advisor (they put me in touch with our ocal council scheme - The Bottom Line Project)

HTH
Off to brave the wind and get James
xxxx

runnyhabbit · 18/01/2007 15:36

Afternoon all

Weather is absolutley dire here - Think the winds got up to 80mph the wheelie bins in the office car park were being blown around like confetti!

1b3 - your pictures are lovely

lol at spit or swallow MUST have been a man to think of that

hope all those feeling poorly/under the weather start to feel better soon.

ds had his pneumoccal (sp?) booster jab this afternoon. The first time he's had an injection in his arm, and he didn't flinch at all, not even a whimper. My brave little soldier (proud emoticon in here)

I saw the mw today, and bump is head down too (think someones elses is as well?) Took bloods, but they are also going to run some more tests becuase my tummy is very itchy, and has some rather fetching bright red spots. Maybe I could just do dot-to-dot on my tummy Oh yes, and I have tummy hair too. Its quite fair, so I can't see it, but I can definatley feel it

CaptainDippy · 18/01/2007 15:48

Hi guys - It's the Drippy one here! Not really feeling up to posting much as feeling yukky - cold definitely setting in, feeling pretty blocked up, out of breath and rubbish. Been trying to do the housework - think my Dyson isn't sucking up properly, which is making me Grrrrrr!!

Ahem. Glad the scan went well 1B3 - sorry they weren't able to confirm sexes, but LOVED the 12 and 20 week scan pics you posted - Wow!!

How is everyone else doing?

I'm tired and hungry .....

OP posts:
liath · 18/01/2007 15:50

Sounds like we've been pretty lucky up here, hardly windy at all - don't like the sound of flying wheelie bins at all.

Bramshott, my next scan is next wednesday. If the cyst/dilated bowel/whatever the hell it is is still there (I'm trying to convince myself it'll have miraculously vanished...) we get referred to a paediatric sugeon. I'm in a similar boat to Pesha that there's a chance of polyhydramnios (too much fluid) so at the moment I'm getting a bit nervous about how huge I've got over the last few weeks. Keeping fingers & toes crossed.

Bizarrely, I really like ironing - I find it strangely therapeutic.

runnyhabbit · 18/01/2007 16:01

Just done something a bit silly.....

I love the internet because of all my lovely new friends on MN

But I also hate the internet because I've just been looking up the condition my mw said my itching could be, and am now causing myself to worry over nothing (probably) She used the term "cholestasis", and I've just looked it up. Possibility of induction at 37/38 weeks (ok, can handle that) but risk of stillbirth. As you can imagine, all sorts of irrational thoughts going through my head, esp as my aunty (who I'm v close to) had stillbirth 3 years ago.

Please, please, someone give me a dose of reality, and tell not to look things up!

runnyhabbit · 18/01/2007 16:02

And I know that this is nothing compared to what some of you have gone/going through...

CaptainDippy · 18/01/2007 16:02

[hugs] liath - hope everything goes ok - will be thinking of you sweetie!

My Bean is kicking sooooo hard atm - really pushing against me - !!

CaptainDippy · 18/01/2007 16:05

Oh runny - STOP SCARING YOURSELF!!!! Obstetric Choleostasis is pretty rare honey and I've had a few friends who have had it and gone on to have wonderfully lovely healthy babys!! There's lots of other possible reasons for your itching and I think Choleostasis is usually presented a lot later in PG than 27/28 weeks. Go and see your MW / MW Unit and get stuff checked out and have a wee chat with someone to reassure yourself, you poor thing!! [hugs]

OP posts:
liath · 18/01/2007 16:06

RUNNYHABIT Step AWAY from that google search NOW!!

weeonion · 18/01/2007 16:07

runny - stop looking up scary things and go in search of cute things instead!!

CaptainDippy · 18/01/2007 16:09

Yes - cute things, like weeny little newborn babies and little chicks and ducklings and stuff .....

flumppootle · 18/01/2007 16:09

Oh runny huge hugs for you. Does your skin look yellow? or is it just red spots?

geordiemacminx · 18/01/2007 16:10

yeah, mamatoto.co.uk, ebay, vertbadeut, gymboree, baby gap!!!

There are lots of nice things to look at!!

Katy44 · 18/01/2007 16:14

I've just been ID-d in the Co-op - and when i didn't have any she refused to serve me!
That's made my day as I'm feeling particularly haggard at the moment! DH not so pleased though as I was buying him lager at the time!

geordiemacminx · 18/01/2007 16:17

The co-ops have all been the same for a while katy, there is one in the village where my mum lives, my sister got id'd for cigs.. she's 23, had her car keys with her and her car parked in front of the door.. I think there is a couple in the north east that have been targeted by the police..

It would have made my day too....
