Hope all had a good weekend. Have been enjoying catching up, but now of course can't remember anything that anyone else said!

CD - agree with what others have said in a more efficient and timely way - you MUST come on Saturday, and I have no problem chipping in for your lunch as you are coming the farthest and spending so much on the train (would have no problem even if you lived next door in fact!). Maybe we can just split the bill by 5 rather than by 6 if everyone's happy! But whatever, we will sort it as you have to be there!! So looking forward to this. My train gets into Southampton Central at 12.14 - hope that doesn't make me late? I'm happy to go straight to the restaurant by myself or to meet up with anyone else coming by train at the station.

1b3 - glad the nephew situation is sorted.
Pesha - hope it's okay with the job centre. Fingers crossed for you.
Yvie - very sorry to hear about your grandad, and that he couldn't hang on to meet your bean.
Runny - any news on your blood tests for the itching?

Anyone else having night sweats? I keep waking up dripping in the middle of the night which is eurgghhh! Nothing like the ones I had after the birth last time where I woke up with wrinkly hands, but just enough to by yucky and make me want to change my sheets more often than I'd ideally like!

Birdiebump · 22/01/2007 10:39

Good morning to all. I've managed to stay caught up over the weekend but too busy to post!

BBCFK - Love Jack and Joe, esp Joe as your 3rd boy. Also liking the idea of some tanning help - which one do you use? I am terrified of all of them so need a recommendation.

MAVETA - stumped by your cat! The only thing I can think is that he may just get desperate enough to come in to overcome whatever is scaring him? Also think you have made right decision re cot. Our Brio one is great as a regular cot and as far as I can remember we didn't use it as a bedside one for long.

On the subject of sleeping, DH found a carry cot in the attic that I had forgotten we had so LO can sleep in that downstairs, her cradle upstairs, and the Brio cot when she moves out of our room! So that should at least be sleeping sorted. Our bouncing cradle seems to have disappeared so some more shopping coming up - yippee!

Also getting confused by slings. I think I might go for one of those Freedom ones on Ebay. Our Stokke Xplory should be arriving today or tomorrow as well.

LO is getting a lot more lively these days, which is reassuring. Also good news from mw, I may be able to give birth in mw unit after all, despite advanced age! It seems that as it is my third and the last one was so straightforward they are happy with the idea.

CLARICEBEAN - Hope you're coping ok with the chickenpox. They have a case at DS's nursery so I'm hoping he'll catch it this time.

WCL - glad you're beginning to recover. We missed you at the SW meet last week - hopefully we'll see you at a post-natal one!

PESHA - You poor thing - what with the jobcentre and your DP being such a t**t you must really be feeling it at the moment! I burst into tears in the car with DH and DS2 yesterday for no reason at all - would be a real mess if I was going through what you must be at the moment. [[[[hugs]]]] to you.

So that's me caught up for now!

CaptainDippy · 22/01/2007 10:45

Awww, thank you Bramshott! you guys are all so lovely! My train gets in at 12.14pm too Bramshott, so we MUST be on the same train!!!!!? Shall I sit nearest the door / window in the third carraige along with a pink carnation in my lapel so you can recognise me!!!? The 10.46am from Clapham Junction, right!!? How funny! I was a little worried about being late too, but train fare is cheaper travelling after 9am, so that's the one I had to pick ....

OP posts:
Bramshott · 22/01/2007 10:54

Ooh how exciting CD - yes that's the one. I'll get on it at Basingstoke at 11.36. that you have to go all the way up to Clapham to get there though - I had visions of you pottering along the coast on a lovely train full of blue-rinse grannies! We must make sure we meet up on the train - I'll email you my mobile no.

CaptainDippy · 22/01/2007 10:59

Oh yeah - MOBILE PHONES!! D'oh!! Good idea sweetie! It'll be so cool to meet you - I'll save you a seat!!

I could go along the Coast route if I wanted, but that involves changing twice or three times, instead of once, so I'd rather go up to Clapham, iyswim!!? I see enough Blue-Rinse Grannies in one day here in Eastbourne to satisfy me for a lifetime - Much rather head up to the "Big smoke" to avoid them!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 11:11

Yvie, I am so sorry to hear about your grandad and I hope the funeral goes ok.

CD, I am more than happy to chip in for the meal as well, as I have no train fare to contend with. I hadn't realised you lived so far away. I feel guilty now, as we should have made it more central.

Do people want me to change locations?

Maveta - no advice either from me, re your puss, even though I have 2 cats also. Maybe he is just playing hard to get as he has had his nose put out of joint so to speak. Hopefully he will come round soon!

1B3, glad things are being sorted re your nephew.

Tili, I didn't know you could get chicken pox more than once.

Claricebean, hope your dd is doing ok. We were lucky, as dd had it when she was 7 months, and was therefore totally unaware and didn't pick at her spots - she too was covered. I imagine the older they get, the more drama it is - my dd is a dreadful drama queen when she gets the slightest thing!

Hope everyone else is ok. xx

CaptainDippy · 22/01/2007 11:40

No, no SPSOL - Don't worry about the location AT ALL (personally, I rather fancy the idea of having THREEE WHOLE HOURS all to myself on the train - I'm planning on taking at least three books / trashy mags / sweeties / chocolate etc - will be bliss!! ) I am pretty sure the location IS central for most people, I just live in a silly place!! It is fine. (Though I do have to admit, thinking about it now, a London-based Meet Up would be closer for me, but I am a "South East Gal" so I'm coming!! ) xx

OP posts:
GirtWaspbElly · 22/01/2007 11:53

CD I'm fine about chipping in too - it's going to be a bit of a marathon journey for you!

Just a quick note for those travelling by train for whatever reason - as expecting ladies Network SE allows us a free upgrade to 1st class - so at least you can go gallivanting in style!

I've had chicken pox (not shingles!) 3 times - no fun at all! Must have reduced resistance to it or something - so am v nervous about the whole thing with dc's! Though it wasn't the spots themselves that are infectious though - it's the 2 weeks previous that you are..

More later, busy at work on & off!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 11:58

Thanks CD. I hope you have a lovely journey, especially if it is, as WaspElly advises to be in 1st class! How exciting - I never knew about that.

Feeling really sick today - think it is hunger - just like how it was for the first 15 weeks. Must go and get something to eat.

Birdie, really pleased that you may be able to have your baby where you want. Dreadful news about all that oil down near Sidmouth and the coast.

Must go.

So excited that my Amazon order has just arrived. CDs and books. I REALLY miss browsing in book shops. I only ordered it on Thursday, so that's pretty good to get to Spain. Couldn't be better timing!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 12:54

MammyJo, I didn't use a Bumbo, but my cousin did with her twins, and she found it very useful, particularly for feeding them when they were smaller.

On the moses basket front, we used to carry dd around when going up for a shower or whatever. Really see no point in getting 2, as they aren't in them that long really and they take up space.

Clarice, glad to hear Amazon have come up trumps - that is v quick to Spain!

Have just eaten a bowl of soup and a sandwich and am still hungry. Brought some chocolate doughnuts in to work this a.m. Have had one already - may need to wolf another one down - purely for baby of course!

nuttygirl · 22/01/2007 13:02

Wow...it's taken me quite some time to catch up and despite my best efforts to take notes I haven't done very well

YvieE - so sorry to hear about your grandad. Sending you virtual hugs

BBCK - Lmao @ first timer who is expecting baby to be early, although I have to admit I do keep worrying this one might be cos DH & his bro were premature. Have a feeling it'll be late and I'll be begging for it to come out though!!!

SOSPL - I know what you mean about the kicking. Think my bean is turning into a bit of an insomniac cos it never seems to stop kicking for more than about 30mins. DH was at how hard they were aswell!

Have felt a bit unwell this weekend, nothing in particular just sleepy and a bit off my food. So I stayed in , worked out it's the first weekend I haven't been out shopping since the weekend I got married in Aug 2004!!!

The cot and dresser I ordered from JL arrived this morning. DH is going to put them together this evening (mainly cos I want to know everything's ok with them).

Have not been in best mood with DH over weekend, partly cos I wasn't well and partly cos he's such hard work (why can't men think for themselves??? - shop accross road had no sausages left, 3 hours later DH was still wondering what to do about it...so I screamed at him that it's not the only f*ing place you can get sausages!).

Also my mum's been joking about him needing to buy me an eternity ring, so the other day he says "If you'd like an eternity ring, you can have one, you know?". I know I should be really happy that he's such a sweetie but I kinda hoped he would just go out and buy one as a surprise. (especially since I made him take back the engagement ring he bought cos it totally wasn't what I wanted, thought he'd see this as an opportunity to make up for that - I obviously expect too much for a man hehehe!). Told him I was a bit he had asked me and haadn't just bought one as a surprise, but don't think he has taken the hint to get me one for valentine's day...grrr.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 13:09

Nutty, lol at your dh's sausage hunt! Men eh! Mine is in the good books at the mo, but I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel like I am a walking cleaner, secretary, laundry woman, cook, personal shopper rolled in to one. Hey ho.

Sorry you have been feeling a bit ropy - any better now? I feel nauseous today and baby is on the move all the time - tbh it is beginning to annoy me, which I know is a dreadul thing to say as I know some are worried about lack of/little movement. But, it doesn't stop, and I think that is making me feel queasy too.

weeonion · 22/01/2007 13:14

good afternoon folks - hello to you all and hope you are grand. all poorliness and sickness on the ebb at the beginning of another week of our countdown.

i have 12.5 to go - oh lordy. who is hitting single week figures now????

yvie - hope u r ok and it all went fine for yr family and grandads send off. xoxoxox

bumbo - a friend has one - swears by it so we have added it to the list.
really delighted to have won an amby nest on ebay. i know it might be thought of as an indulgence by some - but after all the rave reviews - i really wanted one! mum has also got me a moses basket but i dont like the fabric so in the early days of maternity leave - the sewing machione is coming out for it, the cot bumper, the cot tidy and nursery curtains. hopefully creative nesting can wait til then!!
sorry if i miss people out - i cant believe how quickly this thread grows... maybe that is why we lose folks- they cant keep up with it all. shame as i really hope this continues into postnatal...

enjoy yr meet up 2morro!

weeonion · 22/01/2007 13:20

i meant - shame - i hope this thread continues into postnatal - not the idea of losing people as we go along...........

Pesha · 22/01/2007 13:28

Mammyjo - never used a bumbo before but my sister had one and thought it was great for when they too big for bouncey chair (i think!) to plonk them in in the kitchen or garden or wherever when you're busy so they can come watch but cant escape! And being upright they can play with a toy more easily and see whats going on.

Yvie - really sorry about your grandpa, am thinking of you.

And now braindead and cant remember anything else I was going to say, yesterday there was loads I wanted to say just never got round to posting!

Well dp txd me 1am sun to say he couldnt get a taxi over from his shitty little backward town, not suprised at that time, I thought they were coming into town earlier. Anyway i wasnt happy, the 1 thing id said was as long as he came here for the night. He came over 9 on sun morn but just went to bed and i spent the morning sorting out all the crap he was supposed to have done sat afternoon, including putting stuff up in the loft, getting myself more and more angry. We were supposed to be going to his mums for lunch but i said i wasnt sure i wanted to spend the day with him so he took the kids and i stayed here and did nothing!!

Im beginning to wonder if the aches and pains ive been having might actually be SPD, some of it fits, some of it doesn't so will mention it to consultant tomorrow if i get a chance, if not will make drs appointment. Sleeping is now getting difficult as my left hip really hurts whatever side i lie on and lying on my back is even more painful. May have to start taking paracetamol to bed!
Woke up this morning to find bumps head right up between my ribs, felt very strange and don't think he liked me poking his head too much! He does always seem to be head up though which i know doesn't matter til 36 weeks but little bit worrying that he's like that all the time as far as i can tell, well head up or head sideways lying across me which is not comfortable!

Good news is ds got letter today saying he been accepted into our first choice school which is a relief, i thought he would as dd goes there and its the closest school but its not our catchment school and you never know. Slightly freaked out by seeing it in print that my baby is going to school in september though, he only turns 4 in august!

nuttygirl · 22/01/2007 13:41

SOSPL - feeling a bit better in that I'm less sleepy but still a bit off food. It doesn't help that whenever I start eating baby kicks loads.

Pesha - it's terrible not being able to sleep isn't it. Think I've pulled a muscle or something cos i'm really uncomfy when on my left hand side. Have had to sleep on my right hand side instead. At my last mw appointment when I was getting off the bed, mw said I was getting up wrong and should roll on my side first so i don't damage my stomach muscles so I think it's because I've been getting up wrong for weeks. Why can't they tell you these things BEFORE you need to know them???

Can anyone tell me what it feels like when bean gets hiccups? Mw said baby is head down but it sometimes feels like I'm getting gentle kicks really low down and they're very regular, like every second for maybe 15-20 seconds. If the head is down there it can't really be kicking so I wondered if it was hiccups.

geordiemacminx · 22/01/2007 14:08

I think I had a hiccupy baby at the weekend... tiny little kicks, about every 10 seconds for about 2 minutes?

Gonna go and incestigate bumbo chairs now... although we have already bought a bouncer chair thing..

Also, if anyone is interested, I've just been to lloyds chemist, they had a ticxy licks or whatever its called baby monitor on sale from £40 to £10.. its not digital, but I figured for a tenner its worth a go, and if its crap then I can always sell it on ebay or whatever!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 14:19

Pesha, hugs to you. Sounds as if you are having a cack time. Good news on the school front though. We are due to find out this Friday and I am very nervous. Happy with 1st and 2nd choices, but really don't want Becky to go to the catchment school.

Nutty, baby goes mental too when I eat - it used to be just when I had something sweet - now it is anything. Might have to go for a walk in a minute and hope that the motion makes it drop off! Can see loads of movements under the skin - freaking me out. Don't remember having such movements so early with Becks.

GMM, the monitor sounds alright - as you can say, you can always sell it on.

Right off for a wander.

EllieK · 22/01/2007 14:22

what's a girl to do, an evening in for monitoring, powercut for days, come back and it's gonna take me a week to catch up!

Birdiebump · 22/01/2007 14:34

Am of all people hearing about primary schools for DC's. We won't hear until end of March and our DS2 won't be able to start at school until Jan 2008 even though he'll be 4 this June and is dying to go!! Not fair!!! May try to phone school to see why they start them like that when so many other areas start them earlier.

SOSPL - Yes it is very worrying about Sidmouth coast. DH is with the Environment Agency so is getting it all straight from the horses mouth. We are keep everything crossed that they manage to contain it....

liath · 22/01/2007 14:44

Nutty, had similar problem with DH. I was hoping for little something after I had dd - in the end I had to spell it out and frogmarch him into a jeweller and point out the ring I wanted which was somewhat less than romantic. . Mind you he was on holiday all last week and was just fab, played loads with dd and did lots round the house so I can't complain. Apart from the lack of you-know-what....last night he said "would you like to cuddle up on the sofa" to which I replied that I'd rather have a good hard sh*g. Got a cuddle. .

Weeonion am really envious of the Amby nest - they look fab and I wish we'd had one for dd. I posted my email address over the weekend.

I think bumbos can be really useful but only for a short period of time. My sister had one and her ds seemed to work out alarmingly fast how to hurl himself out of it whenever her back was turned! Speaking of my poor sister she is now overdue and showing no signs of going into labour - she went 2 weeks over first time. Really feel for her.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 14:45

Birdiebump, that's quite late isn't it to let you all know.

Dd is 4 at the end of May and will go in September - she is soooooooooo ready for it now!

I suppose it is just different parts of the country operate differently.

We were only in Sidmouth in November, on the beach with dd and friends and their ds. Such a shame.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 14:48

Liath, pmsl at your request for servicing! You really are on the rampage aren't you! I can't face sex I have to say, although whilst dh was away at the weekend ........ Just hope the neighbours didn't think I was going into labour!
