You need an mp3 player.. then you could plug yourself in and be in your own little world!!

Very ... the building manager has just asked me if I would like to move my desk downstairs. (not me literally obviously) as he saw me the other day trying to climb the stairs and I looked like I was struggling...

Just had a lovely bacon and egg roll from the local scabby van if anyone is interested!!

flumppootle · 19/01/2007 10:43

OOooo missives for new house have just arrived
Cant wait to actually go and see it next week now

glitterkitty · 19/01/2007 10:44

I'll swap you half a twix for your roll, mmmmm

Id say yes to the move. Or why not ask him to move it to your own home? Even more convenient, surely?

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 10:52

Why would I need a twix when I have a whole box of biscuits to myself!!! chocolate bourbons, custard creams, jam rings... the list is endless!!! Bacon and egg was lovely.. have to admit that I havent beed strictly adhering to the "fully cooked yolk" rule... they taste crap like that!!

Yep, a move to my spare room would be fantastic..unlikely to happen mind you, since I am a scum bag contractor!! Still.. ony another 5 1/2 weeks to go....

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 11:01

Ok, so I told you I was stressed this morning.. not sure whether I have been horrible and should have minded my own business or whether this was acceptable... opinions please?

gmm rant

glitterkitty · 19/01/2007 11:08

That was brilliant! I'm speechless- especially liked the ps!

flumppootle · 19/01/2007 11:08

I commend your diplomacy GMM. Think that you have a fair point. There is a time and a place for everything.

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 11:09

Didn't think your first message was bad at all - the kind of advice I need as a 1st time mum (not sure if she is) - what do I do with the baby when...(i'm downstairs / in the shower / in someone else's house etc) - that's how I read your post there.
The second one was slightly more confrontational, but when I read it and realised the background I think I'd have been as p*ssed off as you - if she's constantly tring to get as much free stuff as possible!
(I noticed that she seemed to lose interest a bit when the person offering the mb asked for petrol costs for dropping it off)

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 11:10

ys, v fnny!

1becomes3 · 19/01/2007 11:11

Well get a load of me I have actually caught up on what was said after I left last night, AND made some notes so i won't forget.
[pleased with my self]

W/O -Your only going to have 1 bundle of joy!
No plans for any more afer this one?
These are my last ones, DH is having the snip after they come.

glitterkitty-Try not to worry about the BP too much, sometimes it is something really small that makes it rise, like walking up stairs or being kept waiting for ages.
My BP is dreadfull all the time (thanks mum and dad!). The 3 readings i have had for this pg are 110/70, 100/80, 132/80.
I think from what i can remember from being pg with DD that if it goes over 90 then they take you in.
you can buy cheap bp monitors in boots if you are worried about it, or go see the MW
at any time to have it checked out.
Just try and relax.

On the ironing vs toilet
I am in the toilet camp, I don't do any ironing only mine and DD's if the item of clothing is creased when it comes out of the cupboard.
I try to get all the creases out when I am hanging hem out to dry.
Our bog is terrible I clean it every day, and the sink and bath, with DH and N don't know how to clean up after themselves, bloody wheel spins down the toliet, mud in the sink and in the bath no wonder I don't bother with the ironing.

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 11:11

By the way...what do I do with the baby when I'm in the shower / putting washing in the machine? Do those things just not happen for the first 2 weeks? Can I put baby in a bouncy chair from birth or do they need to be able to support their head?

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 11:14

thats ok then... I'll probably be banned from MN for life... I just dont like to see people taking the piss... from the sounds of things she is only young, with 2 toddlers and a baby one the way so I kinda felt sorry for her.. until she posted wanting a dog.. then the next again week posting for 2 moses baskets because of the dog!!!

I am quite a calm person normally but when I get annoyed then rant big style..

Think I need to go and lie in a dark room and listen to whale music..

Bramshott · 19/01/2007 11:15

Katy - you can put them in bouncy chair from day 1 I think, or just trek the moses basket round the house with you, which is what I did. I remember asking the midwife if it was okay to have DD in a steamy bathroom while I was showering!

GMM - am in awe of you, but I would probably have just left it (but then I am a coward!). Sometimes on MN it's best just to take a deep breath and go away!!

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 11:17

I was kinda hoping that he would be ok in his moses basket or bouncy chair, depending on whether he is awake or asleep... certainly wont be buying 2 moses baskets for up and downstairs

Bramshott · 19/01/2007 11:22

Oh go on GMM, you know you want to - what on earth will you do when Bigonion comes to visit?!

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 11:23

My cat will eat him....

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 11:25

Thanks - phew so I do get to have a shower then
This has just reminded me...
We went shopping with my mum the other day for a pramette.
Anyway, I was telling my dad about it later, and how it comes with an integral car seat. Dad asked whether the babies could stay in there for very long (he'd heard that they're not meant to).
I said no, but e.g. if I'd been shopping and popping into mum's for a coffee and the baby was asleep I could "leave it in there for 10 minutes" as would be driving home soon after anyway.
Cue Mum and DH looking horrified. I had to explain I mean the baby in the car seat (brought into the house) not baby in car seat left in car!! We're always really careful to refer to the baby as 'it' in front of my Mum as she thinks we found out the sex and aren't telling so that didn't help!

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 11:27

I, of course, will have a moses basket and bouncy chair for every room. After all what do you do if they don't match the decor?
I'll even have one for the servants' quarters.

CaptainDippy · 19/01/2007 11:27

Hello! Feeling sooo tired and a bit today - nose is blocked and just feeling flumpy - Needing some BigOnion deliveries I think .....

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.......

Katy, if he/she is sleeping, then just leave them and go and do whatever you need to do (take monitor if a long way / you are worried); otherwise take them with you in Bouncey Chair / Moses Basket / P&T Cocoon () You'll be fine, but I repeat again - if they are alseep, JUST LEAVE THEM TO IT!!

[[hugs]] ClariceBean - I am sure everything will be fine and dandy by hometime - These little girls are mighty strong-willed ain't they - My DD1 is only 3 and we have had some right old ding-dongs - Absolutely terrified of what she is going to be like as a teenager .... Gulp!

Anyway, best crack on ....

I answered a post on our local freecycle for someone wanting baby equipment etc. I had a sort out and offered
A moses basket and stand
A baby bouncer
A changing bag
A huge bag of sheets blankets and baby clothes
A newborn car seat

She readily accepted but had no transport. This silly mare here had MUG tattooed on my forhead and I paid a taxi driver to deliver the stuff to her door.

She has just asked on freecycle for a newborn car seat

CaptainDippy · 19/01/2007 11:28

Katy - re: decor comment - A matching throw perhaps??

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 11:30

You pleb CD

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 11:32

There are some people in this world that want everything for nothing!!!

at paying a taxi driver... you'll def go to heaven though!!!

Katy.. re decor.. perhaps you could hire a decorator on a full time basis to make sure that everything matches??

Flower3554 · 19/01/2007 11:34

I don't want to go to heaven, there'll be nobody there I know
