Just popped in to say Goodnight

Why do I feel so awake at this time of night

Been watching Judge John Deed - Martin Shaw is very easy on the eye

Going to have a quick look at some baby name sites, although I think me & dh have actually agreed on a girls name.... Niamh/Neve Kate. Think we'll be going for the Irish spelling.

xx

weeonion · 18/01/2007 22:31

lol bbck - at yr reaction to another pg

one and one only for me. never again. wasnt what i expected and hoped.

legs firmly shut and bound with double sided sticky tape each and every time i ovulate from here on in..... dp comes near me around thos times and i will be waxing him!

re waxing - i have had laser done in past. dear lord the pain- every 6 weeks for 6 months. bloody grew back as well. hairy troll belly gets a quick lady shave pre MW appts. thats the height of it.

weeonion · 18/01/2007 22:32

runny - delighted you are going for naiomh / naiomhe/ naimh.

we have decided on caiomhe - see previous posts.

we are both inflicting a life of "sorry how do you say that?" on our kids i guess.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 19/01/2007 08:10

Morning all, lovely day here so far compared to yesterday. How are we all?

Mmm childbirth v waxing! I have only ever had eyebrows waxed and that was bad enough! At least childbirth only happens occasionally!

Our bloody boiler isn't working again, and it tripped all the switches when it came on this a.m. Our fab plumber is coming this afternoon - hurrah! Hop he can fix it otherwise there will be no heating and hot water all weekend

Right need to get on and pack Becky's stuff for her weekend away!!!!

See you later. xx

muminabigtumi · 19/01/2007 08:25

Morning yawns
I am blearily typing again....it was 5am that James got up this morning.....
I could have wept....Phil carried on snoring...so I got up got him a cup of warm milk, took him to the loo and told him it was still bedtime and he could get up when the sunshine came through the curtains.....
He actually went back for another hour and then got up playing but I just left him to it.
Think Phil felt suitably guilty as he came to kiss me goodbye before he left for work at 7am and was very "I love you and you make sure you rest today blah de blah!...."

I asked my Mum specifically yesterday to keep him awake and not let him nap as I was exhausted at getting up every morning at 5.30. Arrived to pick him up at 3.30pm....he had been asleep for an hour and a half....
I get so cross but I really feel like I can't say too much as she does me such a huge favour having him in the first place...sigh

Anyway....have put the ironing board up...I was waiting and hoping for Big Onion to visit over night but he has obviousy forgotten me.... so I fear I can put it off no longer....
Going out for a meal tonight as one of the nurses is leaving at work. I am looking forward to it but it is all going to be a big rush as I only get home from work at 6.45 and then have to get ready and get my Mum and get to the restauraunt by 8pm....
I hope I get a lie in tomorrow!

SOSPL - what a nightmare re your boiler....mine went a few months back and one plumber was really helpful, he couldn't come out to me as was busy but said that if you ring your boiler manufacturer they ususally send someone out asap. My boiler was a Worcester..I rang them had someone out the next day and they had a prearranged fee for cal out and replacment of parts up to a certain amount...ended up miles cheaper than it would have been for some of the plumbers I called up and had quote over the phone (telling me what was wrong with the boiler without even having seen it - it had got me a bit worried!) May be worth a try seeing as you have already had the guy out?

BBCFK - lmao at your reaction to another baby next year!!!!lol

Right I am being summouned to dance to "Bing Bang" from Lazytown by James.....and ironing calls....have a good day!!!! May get on quick later if I finish the ironing...if not will be tomorrow so have a fab Friday ladies...

p.S - I am a wuss - no waxing here.....I am in the weeonion camp when it comes to shaving of the belly button!xx

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 08:39

Morning
Maveta, pleased your test results came back with good news.
Am very excited now as leg waxing has never really hurt me - does that mean I have a high pain threshold and so childbirth will be easy?! Well I can dream anyway
1b3 I had the same as you though when I tried to wax my bikini line - I was absolutely horrified! I think I wasn't pulling the skin tight enough but have never been brave enough to try again!

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 08:47

I've just tidied up the stats thread (I'm avoiding doing some coursework for college )
I think we should ahve split into first half / second half - April seems to be a popular month!!

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 09:03

Oooh as a wax-a-holic here I'm hoping that child birth will be a breeze... bikini line gets done every 6 weeks!!

Whoever said they would rather clean toilets than iron..I think we could have a trade here.. I will not clean toilet or bathroom for love nor money..dp's job no matter what... I would be sick... I have a real phobia of hair and all things gunky in the bathroom.. Its half the reason I wont going swimming either.. bleurgh!! Would rather do a mountain of ironing!!!

Having a bit of a raaaaaaaaaaaaaa morning.. re buying and selling of stuff.. was going to buy a baby monitor from a MN'er, she said she had emailed me, never got it, and now she seems to have disappeared.. then, sold our bunk beds on ebay on tuesday, the woman emailed me, so I sent my fone number back and asked her to give me a ring.. aint heard jack shit from her... its not the money, its the fact that I want rid of the ugly feckers out of my nursery!!! RAAAAAA

And breathe!!

And eat some more biscuits!!

Katy44 · 19/01/2007 09:08

* VOTE: Cleaning toilets vs ironing *

My vote is for cleaning toilets. At least it's over in 2 minutes (20 mins for thorough bathroom clean). Ironing - you can seemingly iron the same shirt for 4 hours!! (I iron about twice a year, so not really surprising that it takes a while when I do it)
gmm - are you on hotmail or something similar? Have you checked your junk mail folder? My hotmail seems to put everything in there until I tell it otherwise. It does sound as though you are being messed about, sorry, but just thought it was worth mentioning.

muminabigtumi · 19/01/2007 09:21

I HATE IRONING
about half way through.................

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 09:26

I can see your point re bathrooms.. its just ironing I can sit and do while watching trash on tv, drinking tea and eating biscuits.. and it doesnt involve anything minging...

No, I've checked junk folder... anything through ebay would be in ebay account too.. I just get infuriated with people that cant do things that they say they will.. Dont get me wrong, I'm far far far from perfect, but if I say I'm going to do something for someone else then I try my best to do it.. ok so I'm ranting again!!!

On the plus side, my isabella oliver top has just arrived in a beautiful box, wrapped in beautiful tissue paper, tied with..yep you guessed it beautiful ribbon!! Have tried in on over t shirt in office and it looks really nice, although as it is a tie around top the tie bits are about as long as me.... might take a good few hours to get into it... just hope I can tie it securely enough.. pregnant boobs falling out at friends enagagement party is a bit of a social faux pas or so I have heard!!

flumppootle · 19/01/2007 09:35

lol escapee pg boobs gmm, boo hiss to unreliable people. Its just so frustrating when that happens.

Love the girls names weeonion and runny. We have a Niamh and I am a huge fan of irish names. Any ideas for a boys one??

Another waxaphobic here, would rather be a troll than endure that pain, even though last childbirth experience was with no pain releif whatsoever ( not my choice I might add )

Ironing every time, the best of two evils, hate both.

SOL sorry to hear that your boiler has gone AGAIN.

claricebean · 19/01/2007 09:38

Morning all,

oh dear I'm having a bad day today. DD2 and I have fallen out big time. She's 4. We've been a bit concerned about her for a while. She's in an all Spanish school and although she's been in nursery 5 mornings a week since 1 year old and this is her second year of 'school' (they start infant school here at 3 although it's like a structured nursery class really), she is still well behind her peers in terms of Spanish. We speak only English at home, so no surprise there, but it must make her feel like the duffer of the class. She doesn't complain, but doesn't seem to be thriving yet. Then at home she's in her older sister's shadow because she's at that age when she constantly compares herself, even though we are at pains not to, and doesn't understand why DD1 can do things better than she can.

Anyway, that's the background. So she seems to us to be sad a lot, poor thing. And now of course daddy is away too. I know she's having a hard time, but she is just so difficult sometimes. We've had a few run ins since dh has been away but this morning was awful. She was difficult at every step of the way getting ready for school. Then the final straw came as we were just about to leave and she told me she didn't want a muffin for breaktime snack. I was the voice of calm, explaining that I didn't know she didn't want one but it was all I had and that over the weekend we'd bake something else and she could have that next week etc etc. But she just went on and on and on .......

And suddenly it was all too much for me. I had huge tears rolling down my face and I thought: I just can't do this on my own; it's too hard. DD1 and even DS (aged 2) were so sweet to me. DD2 didn't even seem to notice. Just refused to take her bag with said muffin. I threw it out the door. By then I was so angry. Then we walked to school in stoney silence. I told her she had to start thinking about how other people feel. And she walked off into class without either of us saying goodbye, looking thoroughly dejected. I practically ran out the gates, knowing that if another mum asked how I was, I would completely break down.

I feel like she's so little to take me laying a guilt trip on her. But I just couldn't snap out of my own feelings into selfless mummy mode. Aahhhhhhhhhhhhh... so hard sometimes. Sorry for the rant girls, but I feel a bit better just getting it out.

glitterkitty · 19/01/2007 09:43

So many posts to read- LOL at the sperm thing- surely not? But I did hear that swallowing while pg can cause miscarrige- or is that am urban myth?

Flumpootle- its ginger extract- had email back from Sanctuary- they don?t seem concerned but were 'sorry' I had experienced a reaction! So was I!

Had mw check yesterday- blood pressure has risen by 25 points- even though it was low (50/100) to start with this seems a big jump- have to go back in 2 weeks to get checked again. This combined with bump moving much less the last 2 days has made me very paranoid. Anyone else had high bp? Any tips on getting it lower?

Finally- nipped outside yesterday to drag bins back in from street (where gales had blown them) and even tho I had put front door on latch it WHAMMED shut- luckily I was talking to my mum on phone so could call DP at work and ask him to come home and let me in- force 9 wind & no shoes on- not good! Then total humiliation- DP is fireman & turtned up in the engine with his whole watch. Did I feel stupid.. What with all that and nearly drowning in aquanatal its not been a good week .

flumppootle · 19/01/2007 09:46

Oh Claricebean BIG hugs.
Its awful when they do that. The thing is she will be playing happily away at school and you are at home reliving it all.
My dds are 6 and 4, ds is 2 aswell. We have had similar issues with dd2. She refused to try to write for the first six months of school because dd1 told her that she wasn't very good at it
It broke our hearts to see dd2 struggling with being the younger one at school.
She is fine now and it all resolved naturally. Please dont feel guilty, dd2 is probably missing her daddy and taking it out on the person that she loves most YOU.

Its so hard being a mum to little ones especially when half of the team is away. Why dont you plan something nice for when they get home so that you all have something positive to focus on and dont have to think about this morning.

flumppootle · 19/01/2007 09:51

glitterkitty - ginger extract even sounds painful!
Have not had any experience with high bp so no advice , sorry.
LOL at fireman though - probably made your neighbours day

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 19/01/2007 09:52

Thread to sooding long!I shall read it all later..spd sore so feeling today..still it will be worth it!
Does anyone know the difference between a spinal and an epidural?I will ask midwife in a couple of weeks at my appt bot just wondered if any of you know.
I had an emergency section last time and the epidural made my bp drop dramatically..i really felt dreadful for a while.I just wondered if a spinal would be better.[I am having a section on 4th April]I am feeling rather anxious..maybe because i have ds and feel vulnerable...EEK!
hOPE YOU ALL HAVE A LOVELY DAY...OFF TO GET A CUPPA AND TO 'CATCH UP' WITH THIS epic thread.

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 19/01/2007 09:53

I meant 'too' sodding long!
Hugs to you Claricebean..i know how hard it must be..but please don't be too hard on yourself

glitterkitty · 19/01/2007 09:54

hugs claricebean no advice, but good wishes.

I prefer cleaning the toilet- its much quicker. I cant iron very well. Any shirts I have get worn about once a month- DP much better at it than me. Perhaps I should pay him.

claricebean · 19/01/2007 09:54

Flump, thanks so much for the cyber hugs. Glad to know your DD2 is doing well now; it gives me hope. I wish I'd never heard off middle child syndrome!!!!!!!

You're right about doing something nice this afternoon. I guess the best policy is just to draw a line under it all.

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2007 09:59

Poor you CB... cyber hugs from me too..

Wish I could think of anything else now apart from firemen...its all your fault Glitterkitty!!!

Bramshott · 19/01/2007 10:03

Morning girls! I feel very bright and breezy this morning - no idea why ! Must be the fact it's Friday, and it's not blowing a gale any more, and DD skipped off into nursery this morning with a wave, as opposed to yesterday morning's full-on tantrum!

Runny / Flumpootle - DD is Niamh too and I agree it's a lovely name. It's also getting slightly more common I think, so more people know how to spell it. I think we will try to choose an Irish name this time too, and I've been looking here for ideas. Haven't got any yet though - particularly if it's another girl.

Ironing vs toilet cleaning - I am in the toilet cleaning camp. Not because I like it, but because it has to be done anyway, whereas ironing can be by and large avoided if you give everything a really good shake and fold it up neatly. Think DH is in the other camp however (he irons his own shirts because he's better at it than me) as the other day I said to him "if you're going to the loo, can you swirl the toilet brush round first as I put bleach down it about half an hour ago?", to which he replied "oh no, I'll wait then" - i.e. wait for me to swirl with aforementioned toilet brush. Couldn't believe that he would rather be desperate for a wee than just wave the loo brush around a bit!!

Claricebean - sorry to hear about your bad morning with DD2. Some of my mornings with DD (also 4) are a bit like that, and there's only one of her, so hats off to you for managing with three of them, especially when your DH is away. I have trouble maintaining serene, rational, adult mummy too and end up shouting things like "you're not being fair", and then thinking "who's the pre-schooler here?!?"

Glitterkitty - hope your blood pressure is okay. You might find it's just a mistake - I had a high reading once and got really stressed about it, and it turned out the midwife had read it wrong. I don't know what you can do about it though, other than take things easy and try not to get stressed (especially just before they're about to take it which is easier said than done!)

CD - thanks for your kind words yesterday about having a totally different labour this time. I'm trying to think similar positive thoughts too! Really looking forward to meeting you and the others next week .

glitterkitty · 19/01/2007 10:13

I wish- the mw got the doctor to come check it- she got the same thing.

They are not as nice as you imagine, geordie. You have to squint your eyes up and pretend its a whole loads of brad pitts (circa thelma & louise), when really they look like a load of Phil/Grant Mitchells. Sorry!

flumppootle · 19/01/2007 10:21

Can big onion pop over over to Glitterkity with a big cup of tea and some yummy chocolate? He should also make sure that she is resting with her feet up

glitterkitty · 19/01/2007 10:33

Oh yes please! Instead of sitting in dismal office with stupid colleagues running like hewadless chickens over some 'crisis' that blew up yesterday tries to distance self like buddah
