Looks like I am the first one due 1st Feb but I tested very early as I felt weird and pregnant!

This is baby no 3 I have two DDs who are 2 and 3.

Congrats uber and welove - I also found out on Friday and EDD is 21 Feb so not far off! Booked to see GP on 21st June so will only be five weeks then. Not sure of the process but hoping they will refer me. Had pains similar to those I get on the first day of AF earlier today which made me a bit anxious; but other symptoms have been different and my FRERs are getting darker each day so hoping all is good. 4+0 tomorrow.

Ubercorn · 13/06/2016 21:43

My sense of smell is unreal and slightly mad. My conservatory suddenly honks. It's been foggy here today and I had the window open in there, now it smells cold and like the seaside at low tide. It's rank. DH says he can't smell anything. Not all bad though, currently cuddled up in bed with 2yo DS (boy is he in for a shock when his days of sleeping in my bed come to an end!) and his hair smells of toffee apple shampoo.

I haven't picked a hospital yet, there are a few I could choose from two different Trusts, Northumberland or Newcastle. One is new and just down the road, literally five minutes away, but I don't know if my antenatal appointments would be there or at the other big hospital for that Trust and I don't like that other hospital. I had my other DC at the RVI so may go back there for the sake of sticking with what I know.

GinandJazzHands · 13/06/2016 21:50

How do you guys know if you get a choice of hospital? Is this something the GP will advise on?

Ubercorn · 13/06/2016 21:52

You can choose any hospital you want to choose so long as it has maternity services. At your booking in the midwife will go through the available hospitals with you, ours push the Northumberland hospitals with it being 'their' Trust but I've never had an issue getting booked at Newcastle.

Wispa good work on the list!

Thanks for the welcome ladies, and yep have had an anxious couple of weeks but now I'm 6 + 4 hoping I'm moving towards a light at the end of the tunnel. Felt like death warmed up this morning, nausea and exhaustion with no motivation and a busy day, but the fog lifted enough at lunchtime to get me through. My worries are starting to move from "what if I start bleeding?" to "what if this pregnancy is sticking around and the symptoms keep getting worse?" My motto may need to be "this too shall pass" as while the worry content might keep changing the worrying probably won't..

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 13/06/2016 22:06

My sense of smell went in to overdrive in my last pregnancy, haven't noticed it as much so far but I am still only 5 weeks.
Last time the smells of our house were literally making me vomit and so upset. We had literally just moved in a new house when I found I was pregnant and you know it takes a little while for your house to smell like your own - well that was making me so fed up. I had poor DH scrubbing the garage floor with bleach and zoflora convinced it was making the house smell of the previous owners dogs. To this day, the smell of zoflora still make me gip.

Über- I'm in the North East, which other hospitals are you considering? I had DS at Wansbeck and I thought it was great. Such a small friendly place. I've now moved out of Northumberland otherwise I would definitely go back there. Closest now is RVI but the size of it makes me a little nervous.

Totally panicked myself tonight, convicted I had the tiniest bit of brown spotting, though I can't actually be sure as my knickers are yellow! Blushabsolutely nothing there when I wipe but still convinced it's all going to go wrong again. Now I'm imagining twinges. I desperately need a grip! Hmm

twocatsandatoddler · 13/06/2016 22:11

Does anyone have any experience of Addenbrookes? It's not where I had DS but it's where I've decided to go this time round, mainly for a change of scenery as I couldn't face being back on the same postnatal ward again.

Ubercorn · 13/06/2016 22:29

ifatfirst, the new hospital at Cramlington is supposed to be lovely. Private ensuite rooms and partners can stay, which I'd hate on a shared ward but is nice as an option for private rooms. I'll be having a section so I can't go to Rake Lane and Wansbeck is the hospital I don't like.

The RVI is nice, busy and big but I had positive experiences there in my previous pregnancies - one standard delivery, an emergency section and a planned section. I used to work there so I'm a bit biased ;)

GinandJazzHands · 13/06/2016 22:51

Thanks ubercorn, will wait and see what midwife says. Sleep well team preggers Wink

FlyingSpaghettiM0nster · 13/06/2016 23:33

I had my pilates class tonight.... tell you what, balancing was a struggle. Tomorrow is running club, bloody dreading it already Grin less than 5 weeks pregnant and I already have sore hips. Should be interesting! I did read somewhere that runners tend to get sore hips early on, anyone else agree with that?

SkyLucy · 14/06/2016 07:23

Morning all, 5+0 today and got a 2-3 on a CB...am I allowed to relax a bit yet?! Nah, didn't think so!

I live on the border of three counties so also got a choice of hospitals, but couldn't help but feel it was all a bit early for that kind of discussion! Had to plump for one so chose Watford, poor little sod. (I was born there too...better the devil you know?!) Apparently if all goes well I can change my mind, but it's a bit of a faff. Anyone considering any kind of private care? It's crossed my mind...

GinandJazzHands · 14/06/2016 07:33

Morning! 4+0 today so will be spending the day paranoid that AF will begin. My daily FRERs are getting darker though so taking that as a good sign

Gosh I have no idea regarding chosing hospital! This is madness!

Evergreen17 · 14/06/2016 07:44

Choosing Hmm

twocatsandatoddler · 14/06/2016 07:45

skylucy I changed hospital at about 22 weeks last time (although it was because j moved, not because I wasn't happy with my first choice) and it wasn't a problem, so I'm sure you will be able to change later down the line if you don't feel happy with your choice.

One thing that was a bit of a faff though was I had to have the booking in blood tests done again as they won't take another hospitals results. And I had a late scan at 32 weeks to check placenta positioning, and since that was the only scan on record at the new hospital, they'd estimated a new due date from that, which was about 2 weeks before my actual due date. So when I went in in labour with DS (at a week late) they were Shock because according to their dates I was about 3 1/2 weeks overdue! They wouldn't believe me until I produced the original dating scan details. So my advice for anyone changing hospitals is make sure to take both sets of notes with you in your labour bag!

HighHopes16 · 14/06/2016 07:47

Got my early scan today after the bleeding/pain I had over the weekend, I'm so nervous ! Going by the date of my last period I should be 7+5 today so I'm praying we see a heartbeat !

GinandJazzHands · 14/06/2016 07:53

Fx highhopes! Let us know how you get on.

Ubercorn · 14/06/2016 08:05

Good luck highhopes Flowers

Evergreen17 · 14/06/2016 08:12

Highhopes best of luck. Remember you might not see it today but that could be for different reasons so dont freak out if you dont!**

FriendlyGhost · 14/06/2016 08:30

Good luck highhopes!
Lucy I'm also 5 weeks today. I'm vaguely considering the private option too. It goes against my beliefs a little bit but DH gets private healthcare with his job. As I'm planning an elcs I'm wondering if it would be a sensible option. The main thing is I'd like my own room so we might just pay for that. I shared with one other lady last time who snored like a drunk man, slept through her baby crying and then complained when my baby cried. I didn't get any sleep for 3 days.
twocats what a faff! It's a national health service-you'd think things would be more joined up!

twocatsandatoddler · 14/06/2016 08:40

friendly I would check what your DH private medical insurance covers - I get it through work and it doesn't cover routine pregnancy stuff (although it would cover any medical care needed afterwards as a result of pregnancy / birth complications). It definitely doesn't cover private midwife/consultant antenatal care. But different companies offer different policies so definitely worth checking!

McBaby · 14/06/2016 08:47

Booking in with my local hospital Barney General again, they have been great in the past. I will also have to be booked in with the home birth team due to fast labours just in case the first was under two hours and the second was lass than an hour after a failed induction while being prepped for a c section! So scared how fast this one might be and not getting to hospital!

Fx crossed for you today highhopes Smile.

Friendly, know what you mean about contradicting beliefs. I've worked for the NHS, my dad did for fifteen yrs and my bro works on the ambulances. I think the NHS is bloody marvellous, but my DH has ridiculously good health insurance that might be worth exploring. Keeping an open mind at the moment. I def want my own room - your last experience sounds awful, poor thing!

FriendlyGhost · 14/06/2016 09:03

Thanks twocats I'll get him to check. He told me I'd be covered but I suspect he didn't actually check carefully. I will probably go for the nhs option with the majority of my care anyway. All I really want is a private room at the end!
