Hi everyone, I'm 4+3 today...getting closer to my 5week goal before I relax a teeny bit!

I called the doctors earlier asking what I need to do..they booked a GP appointment for me, is that right? I assumed I could self refer to midwives?

lucy yep I've got all those symptoms! Backache was severe yesterday but seems to have eased off.

kellz yep I've got sore nips/boobs too but I only notice when I have my bra off.

Is anyone finding they're bras tight/uncomfortable and digging in a bit more??

Welcome to the newbies!!

wispaxmas · 13/06/2016 18:16

Hiya ubercorn, will you be hitting us up with some funky facts? Grin

wispaxmas · 13/06/2016 18:19

Sleepytime, does the firm itself not say where to send it? Is there a phone number listed for the midwives? If you can self refer that's really the easiest thing to do- I didn't last time and didn't see the midwife until I was 11 weeks, this time seems much better timing at 8+6.

FriendlyGhost · 13/06/2016 18:19

Hello sleeptime and Ubercorn and congrats on the bfps!
sleeptime I'm planning to book a Drs appointment next week for when I'm 6 weeks and get them to refer me. Main reason is I haven't decided which hospital I want yet as I have a choice. As some people don't even find out until later it will be fine to leave it a couple of weeks. If not then you can just ring them. Certainly one of the hospitals I'm looking at gives a number to call on their website. Good luck!
sparrow I'm wearing very unsexy stretchy feeding crop tops. I don't think I ever want to wear a proper bra again!

Ubercorn · 13/06/2016 18:22

wispa and some groovy moves Wink

Sunshineface123 · 13/06/2016 18:39

HighSparrow I called doctors today and am seeing a midwife at the doctors. I'll be 6 weeks 2 days then. Guess it's different everywhere.

Feel very tired and bloated today. Boobs feel fine tho. How's everyone else?

MarjorySunshineDust · 13/06/2016 18:42

welcome sleepytime and ubercorn

I'm feeling so sick this afternoon, almost threw up twice despite nibbling crackers. Urgh!!!

PhoebeGeebee · 13/06/2016 18:47

I'm knackered and irritable as fuck. I snapped at a senior director today. He's a funny bugger so I'm usually nice as pie to him but just couldn't be arsed today. Upshot is he's been super nice to me all day - result!

Other than that, boobs still sore and nipples are ginormous. 7+4 today. Every day is a step closer to the 8 week scan. crosses fingers for the rest of eternity

LaceyLee · 13/06/2016 18:59

Friendly I'm also breastfeeding and boobs nowhere near as sore as last time when it was my first sign well before af was due. I think they are quite different now what with producing milk so it's probably fine?

Bit of nausea today whenever I hadn't eaten for a while. Going to have to stop myself from gaining enormous amounts of weight as eating seems to help Hmm

Lucy1308 · 13/06/2016 19:27

Hello all new BFPs!! I have just ordered some bigger/softer bras. I needed new ones anyway since I've put weight on recently and mine don't really fit any more, but now I have an excuse haha!!

Told my mum and dad tonight. I'm 5w so starting to allow myself to get a little more excited and making it feel more real in my head. Mother was in shock I think! And is now being so overexcited there are no words.... I feel bad for not telling OH's parents yet, but his sister has only just announced her pg after a long infertility/miscarriage battle so I really don't want to take their attention away from her, especially not this early!

Anyway I'm off to eat bacon rashers (crisps) they are the only thing I've fancied all day!!

Lykke1000 · 13/06/2016 19:28

Hello everyone,

I am 4+4, due date 17 Feb. Do you know if that's normal:
1)I rang my GP practice this morning and was told: oh, ok, well can you ring again 1st week of July (8w) to book an appointment with the midwife. No, we won't confirm pregnancies, because home pregnancy tests are accurate enough. Ok, bye! I was like.. really?? Was it the same for you?

  1. I have no symptoms, apart from missing AF, sore breasts and cravings (not too bad). Is anyone the same?

  2. should I continue my exercise routine the same way (boot camp and circuits, running, swimming)

Thanks and congrats to everyone!

FriendlyGhost · 13/06/2016 19:47

Hello 'Lykke*Smile with my first my dr just believed I'd got a bfp and booked me in. I had assumed he'd do a test but they don't need to apparently. I was really excited and felt a bit underwhelmed afterwards! Exercise is fine if you're used to it but don't let yourself get too hot or dehydrated. Low impact is best because the hormones make ligaments more stretchy so you can injure yourself more easily. I intended to run throughout my first pregnancy but morning sickness stopped that pretty quickly!
I felt a bit sick last week but this has gone now so I'm worrying. I'm still getting waves of feeling off and dizzy though so I'm really hoping all is ok. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow so hopefully some more symptoms soon!
My fil is staying tonight and has brought wine. I really don't want to say anything but no idea how I get away with not having any. It's very unlike me to turn wine down!

shadz · 13/06/2016 19:57

Anyone chosen hospital yet? ??And has anyone had a baby in St Georges TootingSmile

Lala6971 · 13/06/2016 20:01

Hoping this is the pregnancy hormones but I am sat here sobbing after reading your last post lucy we have also had a long and difficult battle with infertility and mc and the fact you are even considering your SIL and letting her enjoy her moment a little longer has touched me. I went through a terrible time just after my mc when my SIL announced her pregnancy and then spent 9 months making me feel like the most awful person in the world. Anyway sorry for rambling...just wanted to say well done you for being such a kind and considerate person towards yours x

Readytosettle · 13/06/2016 20:02

Hi lykke, my mw appointment isn't till 10 weeks but it's booked in already. Might be worth checking your hospital website to see if they have self referral process for scans as it sounds late to not even put you on the scan list till after your midwife booking in if they're not going that til 9/10 weeks. My GP did my referral & I have a scan date already (booked for 12 wks), but I could have booked myself over the phone with the hospital.

If you're feeling well enough then I'd crack on with the exercise. I wish I was up to it- but at the moment I just get home & collapse on the sofa clutching a hot water bottle while DH plies me with a combo of ginger squash & English breakfast muffins in attempt to relieve the nausea. Feel incredibly lazy & unfit but just have zero energy for the gym right now!

Evergreen17 · 13/06/2016 20:13

Sparrow I think that different surgeries do different things. I was booked in with the midwife for when I am 6+1 Smile

Lykke I really have no symptoms apart from boobs being a bit sore Blush
My gp receptionist was quite nice and booked me in for early appointment with midwife. But maybe because they had been investigating me and OH for possible infertility, she said the midwife will see me sooner.

I sometimes feel a bit of nausea after a big meal but it goes away

I am continuing with my running and cycling as I was already doing those things, but slowing down if tired or if I find myself short of breath

Ubercorn · 13/06/2016 20:13

lykke, my GP doesn't confirm pregnancy either if you've had a positive home test. They just give you the phone number for the MW and you ring them to arrange a booking in appointment for when you are roughly 10wks. You get your handheld maternity notes at the appointment along with a million leaflets to take home and read.

It's also perfectly normal to have very few symptoms at this stage and for symptoms to come and go while your hormones sort themselves out. It's usually around the 6-8 week mark that symptoms kick right in then they taper off again around 10-13 weeks. So far my only symptoms are sensitivity to smell, especially meat, that's making me queasy which is how I knew to do a test.

FlyingSpaghettiM0nster · 13/06/2016 20:16

I feel like I can smell every little thing. There was a really funny smell in my office today.... yesterday it was quite bad too... don't know how I can cope with 8 more months of smelling random things Grin also had dull cramps on and off and sore hips as well, which is interesting. I have been starving all day and I struggled to eat my tea tonight, just my bloody luck! Don't remember feeling like this with the baby I miscarried... maybe that's a good sign Smile

Anyone else have a really sensitive nose right now?

Evergreen17 · 13/06/2016 20:40

Flying I have notice that some smells were too strong for me. Particularly BO and somehow something in my bag smelled like fish Confused but I never had fish in there
Weird

FriendlyGhost · 13/06/2016 20:46

shadz I have heard good things about St Georges. I'm not a million miles away from there. I think it's just luck of the draw with who you get on the day. My closest hospital where dd was born has a very bad reputation and I strongly considered not going there but on the day my care was fantastic. I couldn't fault the team. They picked up on a potential issue quickly and all was well. The aftercare was patchy but again it depended who was on shift. This time I'm considering a different hospital about 10 minutes further away but only because it's near where DH works so will be easier for scans. I can't decide!

FriendlyGhost · 13/06/2016 20:50

flying there is still a particular deodorant that DH can't wear because even a whiff of it brings back nausea. I had never noticed it before I was pregnant. My friend has the same with a brand of washing powder!
I'm like a sniffer dog again now. I told DH that the bins needed changing yesterday and he couldn't smell a thing. Don't get me started on nappies....!

SBSparkles · 13/06/2016 21:11

High sparrow definitely feeling rather tight on the old bra. If scan is all ok on thurs (!!!!!!!) will buy a bigger bra!! I am getting a bit of nausea now but it's not too bad! Also feel sort of empty even after eating! Spent the day in bed as feeling so knackered but back to work tomorrow. Really weird question but has anyone ever had tingly/numb fingers while pregnant?

twocatsandatoddler · 13/06/2016 21:27

Sparkles last time I kept getting tingly hands, particularly at night. It's called carpal tunnel syndrome. I didn't get it until the last trimester though. I think it's quite common in pregnancy.

SBSparkles · 13/06/2016 21:33

It's either that or I sit and hold my phone for too long!! But it's just my little finger and the tip is numb and the skin has dried up!?! Weird!!

sleepyMe12 · 13/06/2016 21:38

shads you are not to far from me also saaarrff London.
My cousin had her baby at St George's and could t fault the at all.
