Aubergine, that's good to know. Fx that will be the case for me

Evergreen17 · 11/06/2016 04:40

Hello Blush
I just found this February thread and thought to come to knock on the door Smile
I after testing for 4 days it is pretty clear I am indeed pregnant. I can't believe it. Sooooo excited but so scared that it might go wrong Sad.

Due date (very roughly according to Ovia) is 15th of Feb Grin

I am so very confused Confused I had appointments to come with doctor to discuss infertility and that. Scans to check my ovaries to see if I had PCOS.
Do I cancel all that?
I called the surgery and they just said I had to pick up a pregnancy pack and they booked me in with the midwife in 2 weeks (I will be 6+2 then)

In the pack tells me I have to send forms to book scans for Down and that. I have no idea of anything yet so I was hoping that before I fill in and send forms that are so confusing I could talk to the midwife.

If this appointment an early appointment or a booking appointment? Do I really need to start booking things already? On the other leaflet says that you have to speak to midwife before you book.

I though this would be the easy part.

Symptoms?
Boobs hurt quite a bit
I have been spotting / having brown CM for three days but I have been reassured on a chat with ladies that are further along that it is nothing to worry about Smile

I am scared of a mc

HighSparrow · 11/06/2016 05:57

Hi evergreen congratulations on your bfp!! I was with you on the grads thread, ttc for as long as you but found it too difficult to stay with all the wave of bfps a couple months ago so had a fresh start with a name change but still stalk the thread to keep an eye on everyone

Got my bfp too the other day 4+1 today, EDD 17 Feb. I'm also mega clueless on what to do. My sister tells me not to bother going to GP yet but I'm so excited Grin also scared about miscarriage. Have you seen the daily miscarriage risk website? Aslong as I get to 5 weeks I'll be happy!!

Symptoms wise

  • boobs sore
  • soooo tired! Have been for over a week
  • light cramps on/off
twocatsandatoddler · 11/06/2016 07:12

Hi evergreen and congrats.

You can self-refer and send forms to hospital I think, but you'll have your booking in appointment with the midwife at 8 weeks and they'll do everything for you (request scans and blood tests etc) so there's no need to do anything before then. But give your surgery a call if you're not sure - I spoke to the reception team at mine and they said no need to do anything before that appointment.

Readytosettle · 11/06/2016 07:40

Just to clarify gin, I'm not completely virtuous & will still be having the odd glass here or there. I've bought some Carling zest as it's very low alcohol & I've only had teeny tiny glasses of wine. If you're going to drink anything then gin isn't a bad shout as 1 measure is only 1 unit of alcohol, whereas a glass of wine is 3!

twocatsandatoddler · 11/06/2016 07:54

ready I drank small amounts during my last pregnancy too - a small glass of wine at the weekend for example, and I'll be doing the same this time.

I read Emily Oster's book Expecting Better, which summarises the results from various clinical studies so you can make up your own mind about what's ok and what's not (I highly recommend it to anyone who's not heard of it) and from that I came to the conclusion that the odd (small) glass once or twice a week wouldn't hurt.

FriendlyGhost · 11/06/2016 08:06

ready I had wine last Saturday and Sunday before I found out even though I knew because I was getting waves of nausea. I may have a small glass here or there once I hit 12 weeks. I read a study that said after 12 weeks is ok because the critical development is done. The nhs have to give a blanket no because people can't be trusted to stick to small amounts. I may get that book twocats it sounds interesting.

LaceyLee · 11/06/2016 08:06

Morning gin and evergreen hopefully I've attached a pic of my 3+ from today yay! Still don't really feel like I have any symptoms tho! Anyone else feel like that? My dd keeps trying to sit on my tummy which is a habit I will have to get her out of! Hope you all have a good weekend.

Sparrow! I left the thread too because I got busy with other things such as weight watchers Grin and because I also found it hard.
But now here we are. I am 4+3 Smile
No I dont know of that website but everyday that goes by I get a bit more relief... I will check it out

My symptoms very similar

-can't sleep and exhausted (maybe the excitement)

  • weird dreams
  • soooooo thirsty
  • sore boobs
  • mild cramps/ feeling in uterus

Thanks twocats, the info they sent me was very confusing. I will give them a call.
So then I am having an early appointment now at 6 weeks then...

Morning Ley Smile Nice pic

Blueskies80 · 11/06/2016 09:01

Evergreen!! Hello from the 35 plus thread!! (It went a bit quiet didn't it.)
Congratulations!! I have similar symptoms too.
Nausea growing though over the last week. Am 7 weeks today.
Still can't quite believe it.

Evergreen17 · 11/06/2016 09:13

Blueskies! Fantastic to see you here!!! SmileGrinSmileSmileGrinSmile
7 weeks!! I am only 4+3 so OH keeps saying not to count my chickens Sad

Blueskies80 · 11/06/2016 09:26

Thanks, you too! Smile
You've got to start somewhere and take each day as it comes!
All your symptoms sound good though!
Shout if you have any questions about anything! We are all here to help one another!

SkyLucy · 11/06/2016 09:42

Hi Ever! Were you on the Schroedinger/don't trust the boobs (!) threads too? Welcome! I'm almost the same as you - 4+4 today, and also very confused/scared. This must be the hardest time..just counting down the agonisingly-slow days until we reach a 'safer' time, and not even being able to talk about it! Hope you're okay. I saw my GP yesterday and although it was early, it helped, as DH and I had sod-all idea what to do! We had to choose our birth hospital which seemed fate-temptingly early, but it means the right midwife team will contact me for a booking in appointment. So now I'm just waiting......which seems to be the theme of this whole baby-making lark so far!

PhoebeGeebee · 11/06/2016 10:02

God the waiting is awful isn't it? I feel like I'm not really 'living' at the moment if that makes sense? Like I used to love getting to the weekend, but now I just want the weekend to be over and for it to be Monday again so that we're a day closer to the 'safe zone'. I just count down the hours until one day is over and the next is here.

Does anyone else feel 'leaky' down there? I keep feeling like I must be bleeding or something because it feels like stuff is coming out but there's nothing. Hoping this is a good sign!!

(I still can't get over how much total strangers can share about their bodily functions on this site!!!)

PhoebeGeebee · 11/06/2016 10:15

Ignore that previous post, I've just discovered it's leukorrhea. Oh the glamour of pregnancy!

GinandJazzHands · 11/06/2016 10:21

Hi Evergreen and congrats! I'm on here crazily early for the company - only 3+4 today, so bricking it a bit. Called my doctors and asked what the process is, they said they didn't have midwives attached to the surgery (?) so would book me a GP appointment. Booked in for 21st June so all being well I'll be 5 weeks then. No idea what to expect.
Thanks ready I might treat myself to the odd one (using a jigger rather than my generous free-pouring method then!). That book sounds great ladies so will try and get hold of one. Nice pic Ley Smile!

clementineclouds · 11/06/2016 10:22

phoebe I often sense something is happening down there/ leaking/ bleeding...but its just my imagination...I'm on knicker watch every time I go to the loo, and I've had no unusual discharge/any spotting or bleeding. driving myself a little round the bend with it.

GinandJazzHands · 11/06/2016 10:23

God Phoebe never heard of Leukorrhea !

clementineclouds · 11/06/2016 10:34

twocats I have that book too, and would also recommend it. we all need something to fight through all the myriad of conflicting advice out there... Smile

GinandJazzHands · 11/06/2016 10:37

there's so much to learn isn't there! After being totally symptomless prior to bfp yesterday, my boobs felt heavy, had a few twinges and felt tired yesterday but think some of that might have been the shock hitting me for six. Heading out to get a food shop done now so will check in later and happy Saturday ladies.

Evergreen17 · 11/06/2016 10:53

Yes sky I was!!Grin
Me too counting the days to the safer zone Sad I have to go on my run (I run 3 times a week) but worried
Phoebe I feel leaky constantly but I think it is the fear of the panic of finding blood Confused
Hi Jazz! Congrats Smile
Clementine I am always on knickers watch

SkyLucy · 11/06/2016 10:55

Ah....Leukorrhea! Thanks phoebe, I did wonder...!! Am doing exactly the same as you - feeling leaky and running to the loo in fear. Gah.

HighHopes16 · 11/06/2016 11:00

Morning all, worryingly I've woken up with brown spotting when I wipe ? Google says its normal but it's scared me to death! :( I'm 7+2 today so thought I was in the safe zone but not sure now.

Sunshineface123 · 11/06/2016 11:14

Tentatively joining you guys if that's ok! BFP this morning, can't quite believe it! Are u all counting weeks from the first day of last af? If so then I'm 4 +3 Shock

PhoebeGeebee · 11/06/2016 11:23

highhopes - I know it's heart stoppingly scary to see anything when you wipe, the extensive EXTENSIVE research I've done says that pink or brown or even bright red blood can be normal and often isn't cause for concern. If you have no cramping, no clots, no back pain and no heavy bleeding, keep an eye on it and call EPU if it gets worse. Please try not to stress too much.
