Looks like I am the first one due 1st Feb but I tested very early as I felt weird and pregnant!

This is baby no 3 I have two DDs who are 2 and 3.

Thanks twocats Smile

wispaxmas · 06/06/2016 10:14

highhopes, yeah, that'll be booking in. Be warned, it takes AGES. Might have taken longer for me last time because a student midwife was doing it and then had to get a qualified midwife in to check out everything. Still I think they say to expect an hour of questions. And they WEIGH you. Oh the indignity!

Kellz92 · 06/06/2016 10:16

Spin I was showing at 11 weeks with DD and read you show earlier with the second.
I have told my mum and dad and sister and I'm in a group on whatsapp of friends who were ttc so told them. Just booked in a private scan for 2ND July. After my mw appt I'll be roughly 8+6 xx

Readytosettle · 06/06/2016 10:34

I told my parents, but my mums a HV so they were very pragmatic about it. I also told a couple of my local mum friends as I tend to drink with them a fair bit & they know the deal with mc risk etc. I'm fairly laid back about telling people this time, but want to hold off at work as I know they'll be discussing pay rises in the next few weeks so wouldn't want my pregnancy to factor in that!

MarjorySunshineDust · 06/06/2016 10:37

Also feeling very bloated! Last pregnancy I wore tights and dresses all the time so probably didn't notice as much, but my jeans are already really tight.

Anyone else feeling a bit nauseous? Yesterday and today I've been feeling sick but fine after eating something.

I have told a 3 close friends and my mum. Will tell my manager soon as do a risky job but that's it until my 12 week scan I think.

ScottishSnowflake · 06/06/2016 10:44

I'm doing the same as wispa. I have one close friend who knows for now as I needed someone to talk everything through with, but we're telling family at 8 weeks and then everyone else after 12 week scan.

Jojoclaire · 06/06/2016 11:14

I spend much of my life sucking my tummy in, I've realised... Hmm Am wearing a pretty unforgiving dress today and wondering how long I can get away with that? I'm guessing you can't suck in a baby bump?? New dress was meant to have room to grow into but not sure it'll last that long!

PhoebeGeebee · 06/06/2016 11:49

Is anyone else finding it virtually impossible to concentrate on anything right now?

This is my first (both child and pregnancy) so all these emotions are very new for me. I'm usually a pretty level headed, chilled person but my brain and my emotions are going haywire. I've got a stressful few weeks at work coming up and I'm tempted to tell my boss just in case the worst happens and I need to take time off to deal with it. I keep having to nip to the loo to have a cry/a word with myself and I just know I'm not on top of things the way I need to be.

Lucy1308 · 06/06/2016 12:04

I'm with you Phoebe!! I'm so horribly worried about miscarriage it's ridiculous- despite this being my first ever pregnancy and no family history of recurrent miscarriage. I just keep feeling like I'm going to jinx it by booking a doctors appointment or buying a digi test. I desperately want to tell my mum but I also want it to be a lovely surprise for her when I have a scan photo to show her. I have literally told no one but my other half that we are even trying never mind that I've had a positive test!!

ScottishSnowflake · 06/06/2016 12:22

Hi Phoebe, Lucy - I'm exactly the same. If I manage to stop worrying, it's only for about 10mins. No history of problems in my family, but there is in hubby's, so just keeping fingers crossed. I want the scan picture to make it real!

SpinALittleFaster · 06/06/2016 12:26

8 weeks sounds like a good time to tell close family. I'd be tempted by an early scan but need to see what happens first. Last time I had a couple of trips to the epu with bleeding so didn't need to get a private scan done. I'm already on constant alert for spotting.

Phoebe I am there with you! It's easier to be distracted with a chicken pox covered toddler but mostly my head is racing just trying to process it.

CazM2012 · 06/06/2016 12:47

Looks like I belong here Blush baby number 4! Big surprise and only just getting our heads round it, due around 4th February? Currently have 4yo DD, 2.5yo DD and 1yo DS

CorkyBark · 06/06/2016 12:51

Masweetpea hello! Good to have you for company. I've seen that there's a thread for over 40s but I don't really want age to be what this pregnancy is all about. I don't feel old and neither do my ovaries by all accounts. Such early days for us, isn't it?

Congrats to all newcomers this morning. Hope everyone is feeling well.

Lalalala2015 · 06/06/2016 13:17

Afternoon ladies, hope you're all well.
I see there's loads more joined so congratulations on all the new bfps Smile

I'm 5+3 and had some pink spotting and a small clot this morning. I've been to the doctor who thinks it was probably from implantation and to see how I go the rest of the week. I lost at 5+6 last time so I think it'll be an anxious few days for me!

wispaxmas · 06/06/2016 13:39

Lala, I've had some pink spotting today, too. Luckily nothing the past couple hours, though. I called my GP for advice and they've asked me to come in tomorrow morning. Not sure if she'll refer me to EPU or not, and I'm not sure what I'd prefer. I know people who were happily put at ease by a trip to the EPU and an early scan, but I also know someone who was told she was miscarrying most likely and that she should come back in 2 weeks if the bleeding didn't start properly so they could do a D&C and lo and behold the baby was perfectly fine 2 weeks later!! So I'm on the fence about having a scan as early as 6 weeks. Part of me is desperate to know if everything is ok, but another part knows that even if it is a scan can be uncertain and cause even more anxiety.

Jojoclaire · 06/06/2016 13:47

Feel your pain wispa. I think it's best to wait for the scan a few more days. I think it would be upsetting if you were going for the scan to prove something is there, especially so early when it might be hard to see. Maybe wait another week if you can?

On another note, I'm afraid I can't remember who mentioned Harris birthright centre, but does anyone know if it's the same as Kings maternity or a different unit?

FriendlyGhost · 06/06/2016 13:54

Hello, please can I join? I got my bfp this morning. Very early days because af isn't even due until later in the week but if all goes well I'll be due mid February!

wispaxmas · 06/06/2016 13:57

jojo, I think the Harris Birthright Centre is just for antenatal care and research. My hospital is in Kings' trust, so I've opted to have my 12-week scan at Harris. Why do you ask?

ScottishSnowflake · 06/06/2016 14:09

Hi FriendlyGhost, I saw your other thread earlier today! Many congrats and hello!

Jojoclaire · 06/06/2016 14:20

wispa I've signed up to go to Kings as we're between homes just now, Herts and South London so kings is more convenient. I've had a letter from the midwife and scan date there, but just wondered if it was connected to Harris and would include the additional services they offer or if I had to register with Harris directly. Would I have to ask? Maybe see you there!!

Lalalala2015 · 06/06/2016 14:21

Wispa I know what you mean. My doctor said she could refer me for a scan but they may not see anything with it being so early and that would just cause extra worry.

Fingers crossed no more spotting for us Smile

Ideally I won't need an early scan. After I speak to the doctor on Friday I think I need to make my midwife appointment.

I know it's stupid but for some reason putting it off makes me feel better. Like it's not really real yet?! And if something happens I won't be too attached?!

Blueskies80 · 06/06/2016 14:28

Hi
The Harris birthright centre is part of kings, it is basically the Kings pregnancy scanning department (separate from the early pregnancy assessment unit at Kings too) ... it's in the golden jubilee wing at Kings on the Denmark hill site. It is a teaching and research hospital hence the do a lot of studies with the data from the unit I believe... Hope that helps (had my previous pregnancies with Kings, this one will be too assuming all goes well)

Blueskies80 · 06/06/2016 14:30

Lala fingers crossed all is ok... I had spotting last week too at 5 plus 4 /5
And again at 6 weeks.. Hard not to worry I know x I have buried my head in the sand. It has stopped for now. Hope yours does too,

Lucy1308 · 06/06/2016 14:55

Big fingers crossed Lala! I'm sure it will turn out to be nothing- positive mental attitude and all that (says the woman who is currently talking herself into a miscarriage based on no evidence WHATSOEVER).

My next question is: at what point do I book a doctors appointment? I don't want to go too soon and then not produce a positive test for them. Or will they just believe me? Oh god I'm so not organised!!

CinderellaFant · 06/06/2016 15:08

Lucy you can book a doc appointment anytime, they don't test you, they take your word for it! They'll just ask dates of last period. Smile
