vests.

i had to have a glass of wine as i'm in a narky mood.now i cant type

kiwibella · 28/01/2007 21:02

oops... I've been worried about not being prepared with nappies. I had forgotten all the other necessities for me. Only hope this one doesn't come early - hubs will never manage the purchases

Enjoy your wine Diva... sounds like you need another . Whoosh away the narky mood.

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 21:09

Diva how much wine do you think its OK to drink at this stage? I've been having about 1/3 of a glass each night mixed with tropical fruit juice and sparkly water, but have been on 1 glass per. night for the past three nights. Do you think that's OK?

Kiwi - Luckily I didn't have to buy any baby stuff as I have all DS1's gear, plus a new bin liner full of 2nd hand, which a very nice mumsnetter delivered yesterday

I seem to remember going through a lot of clothes though and having to change babies 2/3 times per. day with DS and DD when tiny.

I bought a 2nd hand Bumbo - has anyone used these? (sort of potty shaped seat for babies once they can sit up)?

divastrop · 28/01/2007 21:10

there was only one glassful left in the bottle which was left over from new years eve.i will have to eat instead now

divastrop · 28/01/2007 21:18

fox-i drank alot more than a glass a night in my first two pregs.i dont know if it had any effect on ds1 but i know dd1 has always been fine.i wouldnt think one glass a night at this stage would be a problem as the baby is fully developed.

i never really thought about the alcohol thing till my 3rd preg, probably cos i was young and stupid with the first two.

sexkittyinwaiting · 28/01/2007 22:20

Foxy, I was leant a bumbo last time. It was quite useful for that stage when they want to sit up but can't and they get all narky about it. For mine that is at about 4-6 months.

Don't know about drink, I'm sure it's fine to have a glass a night if you want one. I'm restricting myself because I'd always want more than one glass and find it easier to stick to once or twice a week . There's a place on my sideboard ready and waiting for that lovely wine box I shall be buying after LO comes

sexkittyinwaiting · 28/01/2007 22:22

meant lent

AmieR · 28/01/2007 22:43

fox - my friend works for sure start and they all swear by bumbo's! I will be getting on when LO needs it :D

Had a lovely pampering session.. felt so chilled out afterwards. I was like a zombie!

maybe.. just maybe. I'm so relaxed I'll sleep soundly tonight

3rdTriMossTer · 29/01/2007 06:40

Well I went shopping yesterday, we went the Asda and then dh drove us to the big Mothercare in Warrington.

And I bought a bf pillow!!! They are £20 in mothercare, their own brand ones, I did see the My Brest Friend ones (lol what a great name!!) but they were over £40. I think I'll just drop hints to dh's bezzie about them see if he knows someone in Eastern Europe who can get them at knock off prices!!!

I feel so much better, so much more ready! We bought a mattress for the cot, just a foam one in the end, a changing mat, I bought a nursing bra in 36G (I wanted a 34G but they only had one in white and not that they're the most stylish pieces of equipment anyway but at least black shows the stains less...)

I have also bought all my nappies and wraps, second hand off the nappy lady web site; they should arrive next few days. Also bought loads of stuff, babygros from the Asda, and this cute and I mean absolutely adorable baby dressing gown with a hood!!!

Oh yes and big knickers (£1 for three from Asda) and huge sanitary pads. Oh and some breast pads as well. I'm not even sure how they work but I thought I'd probably need them!!

As for grobags / baby sleeping bags, take a look at this company called the dream bag they are well cheaper than gro bags and cheaper even than mothercare.

I'm sounding like dh's mate now aren't I?

Have read everyone's posts but have to go and jump in the bath to get ready for work, so will reply properly later!

sexkittyinwaiting · 29/01/2007 07:28

Well done Mossy
I suppose I should start to get the basics together even though I'm not gone to have him until April

3rdTriMossTer · 29/01/2007 09:14

Foxy / Diva - I haven't been having wine recently but that's because of the heartburn aspect. However every night I have a cup of decaff coffee with a large shot of Carolans in it (tastes just like Baileys but half the price. Now I'm getting paranoid about sounding like dh's mate. Stoppit stoppit stoppit!!)

The other night I had two of these and I felt absolutely hammered!

Oh Foxy, I forgot the custard tarts! And they are such a newborn essential

Amie of your pampering session!! I made dh give me a back rub last night; not quite the same!

Dolly what size were you when you weren't pg? I would be very interested in your bras but I don't know if the back would be too big, I am currently 34, but usually 32, I got a 36 yesterday having said that but that was 'cos of the colour!! What do you think, does your back size go back to normal, stay the same or get bigger?

Booboo / Kitty I read some of that "men are from mars" book but it really freaked me out, because loads of the stuff in there that blokes are supposed to do, I do. In fact so much so that I have got into the habit of when dh is upset about something I say, "do you want me to sympathise, or do you want my advice?"

I must admit I am really, really bad for doing that, I am learning though! And I have learned that if dh asks "how do I look?" he doesn't want an honest appraisal!

Maybe there's just something wrong with the hardwiring of my brain?

Laidback - pmsl at 65 tupperware containers did you actually count them?

I have to say, I'm looking forward to the homework bit; it's the one bit of parenthood where I know I can help. (It's just everything else that concerns me!!)

Kiwi glad you felt better after a nice long sleep.

Sazzybee / Evenhope I know nothing about nurseries I'm afraid, mil has agreed that when I have to go to work again she will look after lo. I think it would be nice for him to go to a nursery at some point, to meet other children his own age, but I'll see how we go!!

Good heavens that was a long post!

foxabout2pop · 29/01/2007 09:22

Diva/Kitty - thanks for the tips about the drink and bumbos!!

Kitty - BTW thanks for the advice about impetigo living in noses - thanks to your advice I feel we have actually driven the impetigo away from DS now!!

Mossy - I feel a lot more "prepared" now too. At least if I deliver prematurely, I won't have to send DH out to buy breast and bum pads!! I always get the cone shaped pads with a little indentation for the nips, as they feel more comfy than the flat ones.

Have my scan at 2pm and am feeling nervous - what time is everyone elses scans today/tomorrow?

I think I have mild spd as well - have been having pains in my pelvis when I walk for several weeks now and it has got much worse. Have to keep my legs together at all times, specially when turning/getting out of bed

Arse face at work has just offered to sell me a book of residents visitors parking vouchers so I can park on the street right outside the office - for jyst £1 a day, which is very cheap for London. So he's not all bad after all LOL!"!

35+1 (little baby boy )

foxabout2pop · 29/01/2007 09:24

Aime/Kiwi - sorry just realised I ignored you!!

Hiya!!

sexkittyinwaiting · 29/01/2007 09:55

Foxy, glad I could help, there has to be some use for having all these kids with all these germs

My scan is at 2.30 real time, probably sometime tomorrow NHS time . I woke at 4 this morning and could not sleep' cos I was feeling anxious about it all

3rdTriMossTer · 29/01/2007 09:58

Oh kitty I'm sorry I forgot you were having your scan today, I am sure it will be fine, good luck with it and I hope you don't have to wait around too long.

3rdTriMossTer · 29/01/2007 09:59

And foxy, good luck with yours too of course.

foxabout2pop · 29/01/2007 10:27

Kitty - LOL at NHS time !! I'll be thinking of you when I'm sitting waiting in Queen Charlottes to see my cosnulatnt (average waiting time 45 mins aven when I have an appointment booked). Good luck

Arse face just popped over and has agreed to move desks when I need him to - hurrah!!!

I woke at 2am this morning, with my mind racing and couldn't get back to sleep either until about 4am. Then alarm went off at 6am !!

Just had a call from the child monder saying DS (who I filled to the brim with Calpol/Ibuprofen at breakfast) was looking very poorly and had a temperature when she dropped him at school. I really don't want to have to take any time off work B4 I leave. Poor DS, he's been sick all weekend

Will call the school at lunchtime to see how he's doing...

Rosylily · 29/01/2007 10:59

Eurgh! maths homework (shudder) My 15 yo is having trouble with his maths and I am useless! It is total gobbledegook to me

All the best everyone with scans today! Shall look forward to hearing all the news later. hopefully everyone will feel reassured.

Booboobedoo · 29/01/2007 11:08

Morning. Feeling less like an enraged ball of neurosis this morning, thank the lord. Probably something to do with the fact that I've actually managed to get a reasonable ammount of sleep for the last couple of nights. (Secret: warm bath with candles, back rub with Neals Yard oil from DH, then a cushion between my knees and under the bump, and another one in the small of my back). Bliss....

Thanks for letting me moan yesterday. It's like free therapy!

Good luck with your scan today kitty. Little bit of those of you who get to see your babies again.

Thanks for the sympathy Dolly. I'd love to come round for a cuppa. After Wednesday things should be less mad. (Have you finished your return yet btw?).

Foxy: hope the consultant appt goes well. Went through the calendar today to work out some dates, and it's a scarily short period until we're due!

Plasterer says he's coming tomorrow. Fingers crossed...

Mossy your nightcaps sound nice. You're lucky you can drink wine Diva - gives me rotten heart-burn as well. I think I had about 5 units in the second trimester, and that's been it. I suppose it takes any potential guilt away, but I'm really craving weak fizzy lager. Mmmmmm.

Mossy: re your man-like emotional tendencies (), is your 3rd finger longer than your index finger? That's supposed to be a sign of higher testosterone levels in women. Mine are about the same length, and I definitely have more aggressively male tendencies than lots of women I know.

Amie: am v. [jealous] of your pampering session, you lucky thing! Hope it helped you to sleep.

Hi everyone else: hope you're not feeling too heavy!

Hi Rosy: X-posts

OP posts:
AmieR · 29/01/2007 11:10

Fox/kitty - thinking of you today.. good luck with scans... real time and NHS time.. Mine is tomorrow at 11:25am.

Mossy - incase you're interested...lol my mums to be treatment was a back massage, followed by a water retention massage to my legs then some really nice feeling cool stuff put on them. Then I had a tummy and breast massage, then a seaweed pack on the tum.. Followed by a miniture faicial.. which lasted ages so intrigued by what a proper one would be.. then the mask was taken of my gut!

It was very nice and relaxing and I feel very spoilt by my friends, then we went for lunch!

I'm dreading the homework thing if it is science and maths. Its just not what I do.. was always useless at it at school myself.. I'm more arty and DH is more tuned to it than me, but he's a computer geek and into his history... so.. let's hope they are able to master most of the number crunching stuff themselves... lol

AmieR · 29/01/2007 11:12

x-post central!

Boo - I did sleep better and with only two toilet trips! HUZZAH!

Rosylily · 29/01/2007 11:13

Hey, my 3rd finger is longer than my index finger! and I thought I was a bimbo! Although I do like to retreat to my cave alot

Booboo your sleeping arrangements sound like mine. I've got a pillow nest that I climb into.

3rdTriMossTer · 29/01/2007 11:17

Booboo I didn't know that about the fingers but my third finger is a bit longer than my index finger! How weird is that? Maybe I don't have to put in for that sex-change op just yet after all lol

I have to write five adverts before half eleven and I just can't summon up the effort. They're all made up (although if anyone asks of course they aren't, that's not legal, of course agencies don't do that etc. etc.) and there's only so many times you can use the phrase "exciting / excellent opportunity", or "fosters a culture of life-long learning / reward and recognition".

Yawn!

3rdTriMossTer · 29/01/2007 11:23

Xpost central indeed!

Amie you're just deliberately trying to make me now aren't you?

Rosy lol at your cave, my "cave" retreat is up the top of a re-claimed slag heap and colliery near ours where I walk the dogs for hours on end.

I say "is", I mean "was". I've not been able to manage a dog walk that's longer than 30 minutes now for about the last four weeks! I am gonna have to find a new cave!
