This must be our 100th thread.

Possibly.

Mossy: concensus seems to be Mothercare for decent, reasonably-priced nursing bras IIR. The staff should be able to advise you on which sizes to buy.

And lol at not being able to go forward round a corner. Lots of three-point-turns and 'hold on, I can only do this backwards' once you've passed your test .

Foxybuddy: I'm very excited about being officially eight months pregnant. Went and spent an obscene ammount of money in Boots today (pads for various leakages after birth, nappies, wipes, cotton wool and... er... make-up), and they don't usually let anyone use the toilet there due to problems with vandalism. I got let in without a murmur! I'll miss that sort of thing once I'm normal-shaped again.

Has everyone read the when my kids grown up thread ? I was crying with laughter reading that last night.

Booboo can't believe you & Foxy are officially eight months' pg. I'm only just turning 7 months! So that must mean Dolly is seven months pg too! (Happy, er, anniversary? birthday? No, can't be those two!)

I told dh about eating red meat and he thinks we don't eat very much, should I be eating more, then?

I'm going to mothercare tomorrow I want to buy a bf pillow and I will buy one bra, the rest I will buy a bit nearer the time in case I get bigger, but I just want to be prepared in case!!!

foxabout2pop · 27/01/2007 18:45

Boobuddy - that thread is brilliant!!

sazzybee · 27/01/2007 18:55

I'm supposed to take iron tablets but I keep forgetting. I try and eat red meat more but I'm obsessed with spinach so I reckon that's a quite good alternative.

I don't know why they make you reverse round corners when you're learning to drive - I don't think i've ever done in in 20 years (god I'm sooo old!) of driving!

I had a tumble dryer delivered yesterday and have spent my day washing all the baby clothes and folding them very neatly. It's quite satisfying but I know I won't do it again once he's actually here.

When do you officially turn 8 months then?! I assumed it was at 32 weeks. This pregnancy being 9 months thing isn't true is it?

sexkittyinwaiting · 27/01/2007 19:10

Sazzy, there are 4.3 weeks in a month so 8 months is about 35 weeks. A pregnancy is infact about 9 1/2 monthslong 40&divid;4.3

DollyPopsOut · 27/01/2007 19:59

Hi girls

Amie, sorry LO is giving you such grief. good news from the hospital though. And glad that the kidney scan for DD went well Kitty .

Mossy my love, we are only 7 months, but I feel like about 17 months and 70 tonnes today. We went shopping this am and I couldn't cope after about 1/2 hour and had to go home . Was walking down the road in tears with DH saying I was being irrational and he couldn't see what the matter was! I just wept "i'm 7 months pg and I just can't cope" which seemed to sum it up today. Came home, had 3 eccles cakes and a bit of a kip and now feel marginally less barking. I feel deeply unprepared for this baby, though and it's panicking me.

I had supper with a friend last night who had her first baby at 32 weeks. He was 5lb though and only in SCBU for 3 weeks as his lungs strengthened very quickly. He's 8 now and huge. Think I may have overdone it a bit though - didn't get home til 12.30 and that may have contributed to my weepiness today. Also had a couple of glasses of wine which was probably too much .

Need to get a grip and make some lists to regain control. And do my tax return before the Revenue fine me AGAIN!

Sorry to be so downbeat. I'll perk up again tomorrow.

XXXXX

DollyPopsOut · 27/01/2007 20:02

PS Your girls are gorgeous Eidsvold - so pretty and happy. YOu are right to be biased .

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 08:04

Dolly I think the tax returns hanging over you may be influencing your mood. It certainly would mine!

Did you buy anything yesterday? Why don't you buy some stuff online? I can't stand shopping anymore anyway since I had kids and really enjoy cruising vertbaudet/jojo maman bebe etc, its such fun Or was it all the boring stuff you were setting out to buy?

Sazzy - I washed all the moses basket linen yesterday. It focuses the mind doesn't it?

I also washed all the double buggy fabric for the third time and can happily say that all the mouldy smells have now gone, thus saving me about £200-£300 on buying a new one.

A fellow mumsnetter dropped round a whole pile of baby boy clothes yesterday which are gorgeous

DS has a sore throat and temperature

I've got 21 days left at work

8 months today

35 weeks (baby boy)

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 08:06

ps Kitty - that Naseptin actually worked - DS's impetigo spots have gone now!!!!

sexkittyinwaiting · 28/01/2007 08:34

Foxy, glad the naseptin worked. I'm still sticking it up my nose when I remember!!! Dd's huge scab has droppped off now.

I have to take ds1 off to church this morning. He volunteers for absolutely EVERYTHING at school, so this time it's a special church service, involving any willing school children . I don't mind too much most of the time , but I'm not so sure about the 9.30 on a Sunday morning thing.

I feel so much better than yesterday. No more stomach ache. I ate nothing yesterday as I couldn't risk getting those cramps again, even a cuppa set them off. It was like having contractions and paniced me about the real thing.

3rdTriMossTer · 28/01/2007 08:56

Sazzybee I agree I have no idea why they make you learn half the things you have to learn when learning to drive.

Never mind turn in the middle of the road and emergency stops; I suppose a real driving test would be how to get from A to B with a crying baby and some fighting children in the back seat, and you'd get a "minor" tick if you gave them loads of sweeties with e colourings to shut them up, but you'd get a cross if you turned around to shout "don't make me stop this car!!!"

Dolly rl shopping drives me crazy at the best of times, even when I'm not pg. I am trying to do everything online but there are a few things in mothercare I need, so dh has promised to drive me out there today.

Sorry you were feeling emotional, and I'm glad that the traditional cure of an eccles cake and a nice kip helped.

Foxy I am an online shopping person too, but I am getting the bare essentials before I dare venture onto those kind of sites or I will spend all the nappy money on little blue puffa jackets and cute hats and shoes!!

Kitty, just be thankful your ds1 isn't into astronomy; when I was little I had my dad driving me and my binoculars into the countryside in the middle of the night!!!

3rdTriMossTer · 28/01/2007 09:11

Oh forgot to say, last night dh's bezzie mate came round. He's a lovely chap in that he will do anything for anyone for no more than a cup of tea and a few beers later, and he is a DIY genius. We couldn't have done the nursery without his expertise.

But he is also very, very forthright (sp?) with his opinions! He thinks getting second-hand stuff is meffy (why get it second hand when he knows a man who knows a man who could get it first hand for you at knock-down rates?) and also thinks getting expensive stuff is very silly (again, he knows where you could get it cheaper).

Anyway last night I was online looking at bf pillows. Dh's bezzie says, "whatcha getting one of those for now? They're very expensive. Wait until lo is born and see just how heavy he is. I bet you'll find you won't need one."

I just smiled and ignored him but he wouldn't leave it...

"Honestly moss I don't know why you're bothering. Sounds silly to me. I've never heard of them before," and then, "well, it's your call, but I hope there's not going to be one of them on your prezzie list, 'cos I'll be getting him a teddy or some nice clothes!"

And then finally, "I bet the cavemen didn't have them for their babies!"

What is it with some people!?

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 09:36

Mossy PMSL - Did cave men BF their babies anyway???

Wait till he comes round and you're happily sitting there with your norks out and baby on BF cushion!

Seriously though - I would recommend BF cushions above any other item - mine was a life saver and stopped me getting back ache. (DS used to latch on and then stay on for days...)

Kitty - We're supposed to be at mass now but I have decided to worship at the altar of Tesco this morning instead!!

3rdTriMossTer · 28/01/2007 09:42

I have to admit I did (very politely, I am so proud of myself because I was this close to kicking off) make that point, that it wasn't the cavemen who bf anyway!

I did also point out (as he'd been trying to convince dh to buy a Wii from some bloke he knew in Germany who could get them at knock down prices - er, yeah, 'cos that's an essential but a bf pillow is clearly a luxury item ) that nor did they have computers.

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 09:47

Mossy - LOL!!

TBH he sounds like an expert on cavemen....I wonder why?

3rdTriMossTer · 28/01/2007 09:54

Hmm yes strange that isn't it?!

Ah I feel bad now, he has done so much to help us in the nursery.

But I just wish sometimes he would learn to keep his load of horlicks opinions to himself!!!

Anyway he and dh had a bit of a boozy session last night and dh is still practically passed out on the couch. I even made him a nice brew which has now gone cold! I have to walk the dogs but it's so nice and warm in here...

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 10:07

I'm not even dressed yet!!

3rdTriMossTer · 28/01/2007 10:13

Nor me, still wandering around in my manky dressing gown, I can't decide whether to have a bath before I walk the dogs or after.

Right, I'm gonna have another cup of coffee, have a quick tidy up and then have a bath. Then I'll walk the dogs, and then see if dh is ready to drive me to mothercare!!

Oh horlicks, just remembered we didn't do the big shop yesterday, so that needs doing today as well. I really had better get a wriggle on!!

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 10:14

yeah, me too........

3rdTriMossTer · 28/01/2007 10:18

Right I'm off to be proactive. Believe and achieve. With a PMA.

Ohhhh I just can't be bothered. But no one else is gonna do it!!! See you later!

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 10:25

I've managed to get my "shower in the morning" down to precisely 2 minutes.

Right am dressed now and off to raid the cupbaord for some decaff coffee and some MORE chocolate, B4 venturing out to Tesco. What an exciting life we lead

evenhope · 28/01/2007 10:35

Hi all. Not been able to get online for a little while. Had a computer crash then the dog bit through the phone wire. It takes so long to catch up and then I can't remember what anyone has said

We've got a fire drill looming at work and I emailed the chap in charge and said could he warn me in advance or could I not play because I can't get downstairs in a crush with other people. He came to see me and said he hadn't realised I was pregnant! I am the size of a small country let alone a house.... He's going to tip me the wink so I can work downstairs (not really going to alert everyone else as to when the drill is happening ) I'm supposed to have a personalised Action Plan for emergencies but when I said I only had 5 more weeks at work he agreed it wasn't worth the effort.

Fox you were saying about feeling vulnerable. I'm getting quite claustrophobic in shops feeling like everyone is out to get me. I suddenly realised on our last trip to Tesco that anyone knocking my trolley would bang it into my stomach. What started the fear is that everywhere I go people seem to look at my shoulders and assume I take up less room than I do- I've had so many people knock into my bump as they walk past me in shops it's incredible. Add the hormones and I'm going to punch the next person who does it.

Can't remember who mentioned them but I'm getting a lot of odd stomach pains too. Not quite cramps but a bit worrying. Then the baby gets hiccups for an hour and it's really painful.

You'll be pleased to know we finally got the new boiler on Friday after 2 weeks with no heat. It's such a relief. Biggest problem now is paying for it. We hadn't planned for such a huge expense, especially now.

We've started looking at nurseries and I've absolutely no idea what I'm looking for. So far we've seen the 2 closest to work. One seemed lovely but very little space indoors and no garden. The other had loads of facilities but not one member of staff smiled at us as we went round, and the girl in the baby room was sat with a face like thunder bashing a rocking seat with a screaming baby in it, while ignoring the 2 other tots sat in front of her. Put me right off. Do you generally go on "gut" feeling for a nursery?

divastrop · 28/01/2007 11:25

hi all.

evenhope-yes,go with your gut feeling.ive been offered nursery places i wasnt happy with for my children in the past and i couldnt have left them there.i certainly wouldnt be comf leaving a baby where the staff dont even smile...

moss/fox-i find the further north you go the less evolved the men are.most of them up here still act like cavemen.

ive been really emotional the last few days.yesterday i came on here loads but i didnt feel like posting(which isnt like me!).ive been getting really paranoid.i think the end of pregnancy hormones are kicking in as ive started having the stupid dreams that i get.last night i dreamt my mum bought a 2nd hand sofa and there was a (live) baby inside one of the cushions.he was about 6 months old and it turned out the mother didnt want him so my mum and i decided to keep him.the rest of the dream was spent looking for a triple buggy

i better go cos im just going to whinge and wallow

hope everybody is enjoying their weekends.

33+4(girl?)

Rosylily · 28/01/2007 11:44

evenhope I'd definately go on gut feeling and on the people not the facilities. As long as it's a nice atmosphere with caring people your lo isn't going to care how much equipment etc is there. Glad you got your boiler fixed.

There's always unexpected expense. Our car failed the mot so badly that it's not worth fixing and we are looking for a 'new' banger. Lots of 10 year old cars are in our price range

Anyway while trying to get the house tidy for the cleaner coming on tues (well she can't vacuum the floor if she can't see it) I came across a bin bag full of cot blankets, sheets and a handmade-by-my-mum baby sleeping bag. Yay.

Kitty glad you are on the mend.

Moss my dh has a few crazy friends too. never a dull moment really!

Fox brilliant you got the mould off the buggy!

34 weeks today, 6 weeks to go (hopefully) (boy)

Rosylily · 28/01/2007 11:49
