This must be our 100th thread.

Possibly.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

aw Rosy!! I think it's easier to work ourselves up into a panic rather than accept that everything is ok.

Diva... it seems exciting to think that you don't (or might not) have to go through all that anticipation - just arriving at the hospital on the agreed date. Really hope you can keep on top of your health - are your neighbours helping??

oh, you too Eids? Are you having an elective c-section? I love hearing about kindy . The things we forget when they are no longer everyday!

It's a shame that you missed your class Lunar... but I hope the exercise hepls you sleep soundly tonight Amie. Definately sounds like fun Good on you two.

I am in East London Blonde... if I end up going to hospital it will be Whitechapel. I''m dreading the thought of having to stay in a ward so hope that everything goes ok for a homebirth.

Dd arrived home today with lots of pressies from her grandies for her likkle brother or sister. I got a couple of hours with her before she crashed - so I guess it will be an early morning tomorrow. Tempted to send her to school if she's up early but really, she can unpack her bag (we've put away the clothes) and find places for all the cr@p she has collected and (thoughtfully) brought back with her!!

1973magpie · 11/01/2007 21:44

Diva, I think that's why I got PND with DD1, I was desperately unhappy with my ex-husband before I had her, and a new baby didn't improve the situation!

Luckily this time I am much happier and in a more secure relationship, so am hoping that PND won't be an issue...

Eidsvold, you sound very organised, I am only just realising that it is only around 9 weeks until we have another person coming to live in our house , I have bought a few things, but still need to sort out a cot...

divastrop · 11/01/2007 21:57

rosy-i always feel out of control and panicky.atm i cant cope cos the washing machine i bought has died completley and they arent bringing the replacement till monday.my thoughts are dominated by the fact that i cant do washing

kiwi-my neighbours were ok at the weekend but im not going to hold my breath.my bp went up at 34 weeks with the others so i just have to wait and see.personally,i dont think its affected by stress, even though the consultant is convinced i was stressed last time cos i was on my own.but it was much easier not having to worry about stupid things like being fat+unattractive and getting paranoid etc.
is the london hospital still a scary place?i remember going there to have something done to my teeth when i was about 10.

sexkittyinwaiting · 11/01/2007 23:06

just watched "The Hours" anyone else seen it. Quite good but rather depressing. I mean I know I can feel low but I'm not as bad as the women in the film, least I hope not .
WEll Diva, if you're going to drop on the 7th then I can't be your buddy 'cos I reckon I'll be a good month behind you

eidsvold · 12/01/2007 03:06

kiwi - this will be my third c-section and the consultant is reluctant to let me try for a vba2c - I am fine about it - means things can be a little more organised for dd1 especially. I also have no real on-call child minding - only my mum who still works full time here. An elective c-section means my mum can organise a day off to look after the girls whilst I am having no3 and then dh can organise his parental and annual leave accordingly.

I am not phased by c-sections - despite being adamant I did not want one when it came to dd1 but it came down to - c-section and her surviving or no c-section and her not surviving. I seem to recover really well and have none of the horror stories that others seem to have.

We went to play with one od dd1's little friends today. Her mum had a little girl early dec - forgot how little newborns are - although she is already 10lb... she seemed so light compared with lifting my 2!! I have visions of going to lift no3 and flinging the baby over my shoulder My friend also gave me back some of the clothes I had given her - forgot how little newborn things are [sigh]

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 06:41

Morning all,

Well I got home last night and dh had indeed bought me a lovely choccie cream cake. I meant to save it for my breakfast this morning really I did but it looked far too nice so I finished it last night!!

Had a very, very brief moment of panic last night - lo was kicking around quite a bit and it suddenly occured to me that I'm going to have a baby and I don't have a clue about babies... but the moment soon went (I think when the cream cake distracted me)!

Will catch up properly when I'm in work and should be working!

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 08:13

Mossy, I always get that feeling when I first wake up. You know for those very first few moments when you work out who you are, what day it is, etc. I ALWAYS forget I am preg. ATM I am going through a difficult phase of " I've had enough now and want this preg to stop" I feel like I have such a long way to go still. God I'm a miserable old bint this morning.

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 08:31

Kitty I have those days too!
Don't you think that now it's more obvious that there is a baby in there by the movements. Before it was just fluttering and abstract prods here and there...now I can feel its an arm down there and a bottom up here, a hiccuppy back along that side...a squirmy baby!!

I feel comparatively great today because I ordered a cot last night and then had an ok sleep, yay! I do have a bug though, bad cough, really sore throat so I'm on the paracetamol.

Magpie what kind of cot are you thinking of?
The cot I've gone for is an along side the bed one like you use I think Fox, and afterwards it becomes a little sofa for the childrens room.
Now I'm going to allocate some drawers for baby and start sorting and washing the tiny clothes my sis gave me. Soon I'll be as organised as you Eidsvold!!

Diva hope the washing machine situation gets sorted soon!

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 09:05

Rosy, those along side the bed cots seem really good, the baby' with you but you don't woryy about squashing it or it falling out of bed.

We have all got that horrible sore throat bug

TheBlonde · 12/01/2007 09:31

Morning ladies

Feeling tired and crap again today [moan moan]
Got a different lot of antibiotics from the GP yesterday so hopefully that will help shift my cough/cold combo

Saw the consultant yesterday too. All fine so back again in 4 weeks. I've only seen a MW twice so far in this pg.

Better go get dressed as we are off to DS's swim lesson. (on the bus! what joy! round here the people are weird and don't sit down even if there are free seats)

Jaysecond · 12/01/2007 09:50

morning, havnt read the posts yet, just wanted to share with you that my baby (dd) had gone for her first stint at nursery this morning...... but its just a cpl of hrs trial before she starts in Feb, and its only for one day a week, so i can get some me time! BUT shes all grown up! I felt fine leaving her there, off she went, playing with the toys and kiddies etc, didnt even look round when i said bye to her, i peeped in through the window just to see how she was, and she was FINE!! so now i come home and shes not here, and now i feel all teary and emotional and i dont know why.... funny old world huh!

Will read the thread now!

1973magpie · 12/01/2007 10:01

Morning All,

Am feeling very chirpy this morning, not quite sure why as I am finding it harder to get to sleep at night now, what with all the squirming going on

I'm lucky though, once I get to sleep I stay asleep, and even with getting up twice a night for a wee I seem to stay half asleep and drop off again quickly.

Kitty, sorry to hear you have all got the sore throat bug, dh has got it at the moment too and has been feeling very sorry for himself - we did have a moment of worrying that it might be the dreaded 'man flu' !!

Rosy, we're still not sure about the cot, I have bought a moses basket for the first little while, and don't know if we have the money (or space) for a bedside cot, so will probably opt for a normal cot.

DD1 went into her own room at 6 weeks old because it was the only way anybody got any sleep. I know the advice now is to keep them in with you for 6 months, but I don't know if that would work for us, will have to wait and see I guess.

TheBlonde · 12/01/2007 10:04

Ah Jay, glad to hear your LO was fine going to nursery
I shall be doing the same in April with DS

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 10:17

Magpie, not the dreaded 'man flu'. Thankheavens it wasn't that, there's nothing worse

Jaysecond · 12/01/2007 10:18

kitty and the blonde, sorry to hear youre feeling shitty this morning, i hate waking up and feeling instantly in a bad mood, especially as you cant go back to sleep it off as theres other kids to cope with, stuff to do, etc etc!! Hopefully the sun might come out and cheer us all up!

Magpie, my DD went into her own room and full size cot at 6 weeks, i felt the same as you, ref the sleep problems, DD slept really well every since and was sleeping through at about 16 weeks, so it cant all be bad. I like the idea of a moses basket, but DD was so big when she was born and LONG, that she wouldnt have lasted very long in it, i had a swinging crib, which looked nice but i said i wouldnt have one again, as it was so 'deep' and i found bending really hard. This time i have gone for the Amby Natures Nest. Will see how that goes!

Rosylily, the squirming and moving is unreal isnt it, i swear i never felt this much with DD, this little fella seems to be do acrobatics in the confines of my stomache, it really takes you breath away sometimes!!

Moss, choccie cake yum yum, My DH when he goes shopping normally does the same as yours, will forget essentials but alwasy bring me a chocolate covered marzipan bar.....mmmmmmmm now i want one.....!

Kiwi, i used to live in BOW East London (with an ex boyfriend), so know a few places round there, moved to Hersham in Surrey, now live in Nottingham. Wasnt there a few others up North with me?

Have to go back to the midwife at 11 30. Apparently after 28 week bloods were taken and sent off to the hospital, it took so long that the blood wasnt fresh enough for the testing..... very strange as about three weeks ago i got a letter from my Doctor saying as a result from my bloods ( i thought from 28 weeks..) i needed to go onto iron tablets, and i had been sent a percription. Something doesnt add up here as i went to MF on Tuesday of this week and she didnt say anything...! very strange and a bit of a cock up somewhere i think.

Wonder how DD is getting on!!!

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 10:30

I've definately got man flu! I'm constantly either coughing or sneezing and impressively not peeing myself in the process!!(she boasts)

Jay that's great that she went in happily without looking back! My dd clings to my leg every morning, once I'm gone she has a ball but I think she doesn't like the idea of her little bro having mum to himself! (you've all this ahead of you )

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 10:35

Well, here I am in work - thank goodness it's Friday! I "slept in" until twenty past six this morning 'cos I was tired and then what with going on here to write about cream cakes and deciding to have a nice bath instead of a shower, I missed my train and was late for work.

I told a leeetle white lie and said the train had been cancelled. I had a nasty glare from Darth Vader but other than that it wasn't too bad. Just sat through nearly two hours of a tedious morning meeting though grief that man drones on!!

Lunar sorry to hear your employers kept you in a late meeting... it must be hard for you; I'm no longer bothered about looking "dedicated", but that's because I know I won't come back here, it's much harder for you because you know you will be.

Dolly of course you can be my due date buddy! Now what does that actually entail?

1973magpie, glad to hear you're chirpy despite your lack of sleep... or do you think it's hysteria setting in?

Eids I can't believe how organised you are! I'm both impressed and ! On my next payday I'm going to write one of my dreaded lists. Dh will be quakeing in his boots....

Rosy / Diva - last night, I felt a bit panicky too, but then it faded (with a cream cake). Really, I should probably be more panicky. I am being far too laid back atm, I think purely because it just hasn't quite sunk in yet! Diva hope you get the washing machine sorted out, is there a laundrette near yours that you can use in the meantime?

Kitty I haven't seen The Hours yet, I am storing up a list of films I want to see when I'm on my maternity leave before the birth!

Jay, aww bless, your little dd is all grown up!

Right, I'd better do some more work now...

1973magpie · 12/01/2007 10:36

Jay, that's exactly it. DD1 slept through the night from around 6 weeks - I think that we disturbed her as much as her grunts and groans disturbed us

I was so lucky with DD1 she was such a good sleeper (must take after me!), but DH's DD was a terrible sleeper (as is he) so hopefully this one will take after me not him...

AmieR · 12/01/2007 10:36

oh dear Kitty/Blonde.. I've had one of those mornings too. I've probably slept a max of 20 hours since last friday, untill last night, where i had a good 7 hoursish. DH went off to work and reset the alarm for me to go off at 7 thirty. Heard it go off, thought I'd hit snooze but infact had turned it off... oh dear.. I slept for a further 2 hours and got to work 20 mins ago. this would have been slightly earlier if MS hadn't hit me! I think a slight change in my morning routine may set it off...

Aww Jay - I'm sure your DD will love Nursery and enjoy her interaction with all the other LO's! Though I know it must be tough on you. I hope you get to the bottom of your Bloods.

Hmm chocolate of any variety at the moment sounds delightful.

Told DH about Callie's news, he's made me promise I'll have my bag packed by the end of the weekend! Bless.

muppetisacat · 12/01/2007 10:39

Jay - very bizarre about your bloods! Did you start taking the iron tablets they gave you - it would be annoying if you had and you didn't really need them as can't they plug you up IYSWIM?

Just got back from 32 week scan - placenta has moved up

However... naughty boy is still breech with his feet right up round his ears. That's why I've been getting so confused as to how he keeps kicking me under my ribs yet can never feel a head down below.

Also - how accurate do you reckon the estimations on weight are - I was told it was currently nearly 5lbs and I have 8 weeks to go... so another 4lbs do you think? Both my babies were only 7lbs b4 - so does it sound feasible to suddenly produce a 9lb'er? It will kind of influence my decision to have natural birth or not if this baby stays breech... ADVICE NEEDED!!!

1973magpie · 12/01/2007 10:40

Morning Moss, sorry to hear that you are having a tough time at work, how much longer do you have to go?

I think you might be right about the hysteria, up until now I have been deluding myself that I'm not really pregnant, and the fact that there will be a new member of the family shortly is quite frankly terrifying

What if I can't remember what to do? Please tell me it's like riding a bike.... I think I'll just keep deluding myself.... lalala

AmieR · 12/01/2007 10:56

Muppet - I'm hoping they're not all that accurate as I'm looking at giving birth to a 10lbs 2oz baby, if I go a little over due as they do predict seems to happen with your first! Not sure I fancy that!

YankeeFish · 12/01/2007 10:59

yep, strange morning routine here as well - wide awake at 5:30am - but can't get out of bed at 7am. Every morning this week I awake to thinking it is Saturday am and I get to sleep in - what a disappointment again. But, it is Friday - at least we can all be happy about that, even if the sun refuses to show itself.

my blood tests at 28 weeks got screwy at the hospital as well and just got letter to do them over - but next appt. isn't until 22nd Jan - same week as my 34 wk. checkup.

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 11:00

Muppet I don't know about weights, I've not been given an estimate of my lo's weight at all, should I ask about this at a mw appt?

1973magpie, tbh, believe it or not they're much much better than they were. After some good advice from some people here I arranged to have my role reduced to a less stressful one. Notice I said the role, not the hours. The only concession they've made to the hours is that in February I can finish at six instead of eight on the long Tuesday... still it's better than nothing!!

I have 34 working days to go until I go off on maternity leave!!!

AmieR · 12/01/2007 11:13

Muppet have you been to a MW appointment and they've measured your FUNDAL (not fungal, still say it 80% of the time!) height yet? I got mine measured am my 28 week one for the first time. This is what they use to work out the "estimated" weight and length and such. Tho I am not convived its accurate, just a guide...

At my 28 week appointment LO was measure 4cm bigger than average, this lasp appointment, the growth had settled down, but still slightly above average.. but I'm blaming that on my padding. Too much chocolate

I dunno why, but I'm surprised at how much people are messed around during pregnancy! If its not by the NHS, MW's, Family its work... guess that's just the way of the world!
