Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

rainbow I'm worrying because I'm NOT feeling sick and I was last time heh

Admarks · 03/05/2016 18:00

Cautiously place marking... I have an EDD of 31st Dec (which seems to be a popular date). This is my first pregnancy so I don't know what to expect- but my stomach has been cramping for about two days, the Internet seems to think that's ok.....
GP booked for 17th May as that's the earliest they can see me and apparently I need to see GP to get my referral to the community midwife! Really wish we hadn't waited over a week to test (too many late AFs/disappointments over the past year)

GinaC123 · 03/05/2016 18:37

Hello, all!! I am a 32 year old with no kids yet, so this one will be my first! I am about 4 weeks 4 days give or take. I have no idea what to expect as I have never been pregnant before, but I am so excited! Congrats to all!!

ProseccoKiss · 03/05/2016 18:53

Hi all, had my BFP on Monday so hope uou don't mind if I jump on board! Worked out I'm roughly 4 weeks 3 days! So due early Jan! xx

Parney · 03/05/2016 20:16

Hi everyone! It seems to be baby number one for quite a few of us! We'll have those who have DC already, tortured with questions! I saw my GP today, says my referral for 12 week scan will come in the post. Seems soooo long away! I'm just over five weeks and feel like time has stopped!

MagpieCursedTea · 03/05/2016 20:31

Parney I'm not normally at that centre so I'm worried it'll look suspicious. I'm almost certainly overthinking it! This is my second baby and I think I actually have even more questions than I did the first time around. I keep comparing it to my first pregnancy and worrying things are different, I also think I've forgotten loads of stuff! So no need to worry about torturing with questions Grin

Congratulations to Admarks, Gina and Procescco!

I called my GP today to ask about whether I should keep taking my metformin for PCOS. Everything I've read said to keep taking it as it can help prevent problems in pregnancy for women with PCOS. He said he hadn't heard that and to stop taking it. I'm feeling quite conflicted but he told me to book an appointment at the surgery for this week so I've got one on Thursday (different GP) and will discuss it again then.

samk15 · 03/05/2016 20:38

Ooo please may I jump on the bus.

Got a BFP about 2 weeks ago and I am terrified!

Had 2 mmcs last year so this is my first pregnancy since then. I don't have any DC apart from 2 needy cats.
I am geriatric when it's comes to having kids but I've had lots of blood tests to rule out any problems. I have got ME and I'm diabetic but it's controlled well.

I'm trying to be positive but every so often the terror and panic takes over. I don't know how I will deal with it if I have another miscarriage but I guess I will have to cross that bridge if we need too.

Definitely could do with the positivity of this lovely thread Smile

Bozley47 · 03/05/2016 20:55

Hi all,
I also had BFP three days ago. First pregnancy after 29 months of to. Due early January.

I have have now done six tests in three days, all BFP and I think lines are getting darker!! Driving myself mental that I might have a chemical pregnancy. CBD says 1-2 weeks.

Very achesy boobs and having to hold them whenever going up/down stairs -v embarrassing!

Just wanted to say hello!

happylass · 03/05/2016 21:19

Congratulations and welcome to the new arrivals! Great to have you all on board.
Magpie was it a consultant who prescribed your Metformin? If so can you get in touch with them for advice? I'm on a cocktail of drugs following the IVF and I'm going to make sure the FC gives me very clear written instructions on them before I go anywhere a GP/midwife!

GinaC123 · 03/05/2016 21:22

Can anyone share their experiences with me here? LOL. I have had very mild cramping before I even found out I was pregnant and still have it now. mostly when I move positions. Sometimes sharp pains through bell button area, but those are few and far between and very mild as well. Is any of this normal? My two bfps were very dark so I keep telling myself ill be ok, but im sure that doesn't matter. My first appointment isnt until may24th! Time is standing still!!!

MagpieCursedTea · 03/05/2016 21:30

Congratulations samk and bozley!

Happylass it was the gynaecologist who prescribed it, I called gynaecology outpatients today and they put me through to a midwife (I think she was in maternity assessment) who told me to call my GP as she didn't have my history. Not overly helpful!

Gina I've been having similar cramps from a few days before I found out. I don't remember getting them with DS but I've been told it's normal!

happylass · 03/05/2016 21:35

Ugh Magpie that isn't at all helpful. I would call back and ask to speak to the gynae's secretary. Or have you got an email address? Maybe easier than trying to get someone on the phone.

SincerelyRosie · 03/05/2016 21:35

Gina I've literally just been googling the same thing. Mine are like period pains at the moment. Nervous at every twinge.

stealthbanana · 03/05/2016 21:39

Definitely don't stop taking the met, magpie. It has a demonstrable effect on lowering miscarriage rates for women with PCOS. My consultant has been v firm about continuing to take it. GPs are very badly educated with PCOS unfortunately.

Welcome to all the newbies! I think we are all in various states of panic and anxiety and clock watching right now. Good to have some people to hand hold with through these fucking awful tense first few weeks.

GinaC123 · 03/05/2016 21:52

Yes, they feel just like period pains, only not as severe!! Every friend of mine has told me to stop googling because its gonna drive me nuts!

GinaC123 · 03/05/2016 21:53

Can somebody tell me how I put someones name in bold? LOL

swancourt · 03/05/2016 21:56

Hello! Can I join? I joined the December thread (due 31 December by my calculations, but possibly 1 Jan). I think I'm 5+3.

I'm 33, live in Buckinghamshire, commute to London several days a week for half the year and work the rest of the week/year at home (I do a lot at night so I can spend time with my two DDs - aged 2.8 and 4.10) . So this will be DC3. I had an early mc at 5 weeks before my first DD, and then had a mc which started somewhere around 8 weeks beginning on March 4th this year. It went on and on until March 31st, and boom - I'm pregnant again. Which is brilliant but extremely nerve wracking. I have done about 65 million tests.

Last time I didn't feel sick at all, even though I was quite badly sick with both my healthy pregnancies. So I'm hoping the sickness will kick in sometime next week, even though I'll be moaning when it does. Last time it also took an AGE for my HcG levels to rise (at least according to Clearblue digitals - 4 weeks 2 days before it even registered the pregnancy, then at 4 weeks 3 days went up to 2-3 before going back down to 1-2 at 4 weeks 6 days - it didn't reach 3+ until well into the seventh week). I got my 3+ on the digitals today, so the rise has been more like my other pregnancies. I know that the digitals are totally unreliable, but it's at least slightly reassuring.

Bozley47 · 03/05/2016 21:57

magpie definitely stay on metformin for first trimester as it does decrease risk of miscarriage. My consultant says exactly the same as stealthbanana

I have to be honest and say that I am medical myself, but totally not in the world of obs and gynae (work in a and e). I think knowledge perhaps makes everything even worse!!

swancourt · 03/05/2016 21:58

PS - have booked in for an early scan next Friday (13th). I figured £60 for a scan was cheaper than a hundred CBDs and FRERs Shock and a lot more reassuring.

Parney · 03/05/2016 22:32

Gina I definitely had cramping before AF was due and a few days later. Scary times.
Congratulations Swan, I haven't had a day when I've not tested yet. Are you dating by your last AF? I am too and it's jan 2nd but when I do it based on positive OPK/ ovulation date it's NYE. So confusing! I know al will be clearer at scans and all.

Emz32 · 03/05/2016 22:39

Congratulations everyone. I'm very new to mumsnet. I'd like to cautiously join as well. I'm 5+6 and EDD of 28th Dec. This is my 4th pregnancy. Had a natural miscarriage at 7.5 weeks, a premature baby (my DS of 2yrs) and then a MMC over Christmas which resulted in 2 ops and lasted 2 months from diagnosis to negative test. Desperately want to be excited but self preservation is holding me back I think... Iv been referred for an early scan & waiting to hear. I'm not yet 30 and have found making babies to be tougher than I thought it would be!

Admarks · 04/05/2016 07:49

Good morning and congratulations everyone!

I see a lot of people are suffering from cramps, and the consensus is that they are normal. However, does anyone know how long they should last?? I've been having them on and off since Saturday and beginning to get worried that something is not right. First GP appointment on 17th so I have a bit of a wait till then.

Is everyone continuing to test? Also, do you think the CBDs are worth it? I've not used one before so have no idea what my hCG levels are, I'm only dating from my lmp

ZylaB · 04/05/2016 07:52

Cramping - ive been having lots, and lots of low stitch like pains and it worries me every time! Then if I don't feel anything I worry too! This is dc 2 but it's like I've forgotten everything! First scan is two weeks today and I have no idea how I'll manage to wait!
samk I'm diabetic too, type 1 or 2? Tell your diabetes team immediately, they'll want you booked in for early scans and checks I think :)

Congrats to everyone joining.

MagpieCursedTea · 04/05/2016 08:21

Thanks for the advice Stealth and Bozley I've continued taking it and will hopefully convince the GP tomorrow to keep prescribing it. I hate going in and starting with "well I've been doing some googling" I think I'll say that I've spoken to other people with PCOS who have been told to stay on it.

Congratulations swancourt and emz sorry for your previous losses, all the best for this time!

Gina you can put names in bold by putting * next to the name.

GerberaDaisy · 04/05/2016 14:39

Hello to everyone who has just joined and massive congratulations!! Yes "cramping" is normal because things are moving and the tissues are softening. And small pains when you move or sneeze are quite normal too as again everything is softening to accommodate the growing uterus / embryo (which is what it is at this stage). Try to reassure yourselves and leave Google alone! If you are having continuous pain and / or fresh red bleeding then you need to see your GP. Hope this helps! I think sometimes knowledge can reduce anxiety, but sometimes it doesn't matter if you know it's normal because you feel anxious for other reasons which again is normal :-) xx
