Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

My GTT is next Monday too. I have to get up at 6am to drink it as my appointment is at 8am (!!). Different NHS trusts seem to have different rules as I didn't need to do one with my first. I don't have any of the risk factors (alcohol, smoking, BMI etc) except this trust I am in now test based on ethnicity as well
Just got back from a week's "holiday" at Center Parcs - if you can call a CP break a "holiday". My DD loved it but I was feeling rather breathless cycling up those hills.
If anyone has a good Kegel app / exercise please let me know. As baby gets bigger it's really straining my pelvic floor. I have a hacking cough at the moment and i am changing my panty liners 3x a day Blush Blush.. I didn't have this issue with my first, I thought I was reasonably fit - given I run 4-5x a week so wouldn't have this issue, but obviously I'm not working the right muscles!

lucy that sounds similar to mine, I have to fast from the night before, so I can have dinner but no breakfast, and only sips of water. I have to go at 8:40 to have a blood test and then drink a bottle of original lucazade (they were very specific that it can't be flavoured!) wait around for 2 hours (I'm going to go home to do the waiting) then come back for another blood test. I suppose there are worse things. It might beat being in work?!

Bella1985 · 03/10/2016 14:02

lucy I use Squeezy (an nhs app) which is quite handy, only downside is that it lets you adjust and set the exercises which means I have no idea if I'm doing enough. Its good for the reminders though...

We're not allowed to go home during the gtt test at our trust, we have to wait in the room, and they give us the drink too, apparently it's a thick jelly like version that's 'similar' to lucozade... yummy...Hmm

colonolthirteen · 03/10/2016 14:13

Well when I asked the woman at reception if I could go home because I live very close to the surgery, she said yes but I'm not allowed to do any aerobics!
That's such a shame you can't escape. I would have to take a lot of time wasting material with me if I had to sit there for 2 hours.

Hi, I'd like to join this thread, I am 28 +3 and I am reading the same issues I am having, hip pain, less sleep, peeing... I am full of a cold now too and breathing is so difficult!
I have a 7 yo DD who is beyond excited, I can#t wait for this baby to come out!

Bella1985 · 03/10/2016 14:28

Hi kione - welcome! Don't we sound like a fun bunch "hip pain, less sleeping, peeing..." Grin gutted about your cold, it's just another insult to injury, no doubt we'll all have a cold at some point before our babies are born...

I'm taking an ipad and earphones with me, can't focus on reading for very long at the moment so catch up tv will be my saviour...! Luckily its a university hospital and I work in a university so I can connect to the wifi!

colonolthirteen · 03/10/2016 14:38

Hi kione!

Oh wifi yes that's a life saver! It'll fly by.

On the subject of colds...I've booked in last week to have the flu jab and the whooping cough. The midwife had given me a leaflet about these two and also rubella...but she didn't actually say anything about rubella, so I haven't booked for that one. Not sure if I should have? Confused

Kione · 03/10/2016 15:08

Thanks! No, its good to know am not the only one!

Emz32 · 03/10/2016 15:13

Welcome Kione. Pregnancy is so glamorous. Been struggling with heartburn so much & my DS is definitely being more challenging these last few weeks. I had the glucose test last time as that trust does it for everyone, the hospital I'm under now, only does high risk. I think I'd rather be tested just in case but think that's just me being paranoid. Hope the scan goes well Bella. Iv got mine next week & not sure what to expect. 27 weeks today! It's going quite quickly now

Bella1985 · 03/10/2016 17:11

Scan went well. Baby's measuring just below average but within the safe range so they're happy. Another scan booked for 4 weeks from now. Nice to see baby again and it was confirmed- baby is lying with head down meaning my bladder is perfect pillow material!!

Admarks · 03/10/2016 19:06

Welcome Kione and welcome back Lucy. You have my full respect for being able to complete a week at Centre Parcs - I think I'd struggle pre-pregnancy let alone at 27 weeks!!

Good news that baby is only slightly below average Bella, bet it was nice to see him/her again! Hope you're feeling better today and have more energy?

No GTT test here, I think they only offer it to people with risk factors here but I'll check at my 28 week appointment. The process does not sound like fun with the ravenous phase that we seem to be in! Hoping you all pass and can continue to enjoy Cakeand Chocolate afterwards! How long does it take for the results to be known?

TMI alert Can I add piles to the unglamorous symptoms? I think I've got some starting to grow (is that the right word?!?). Never had them before but I described what i saw (using a mirror) to OH (boundaries have disappeared) and he thinks I may be starting to have them. He offered to take a look (I declined!!!!)

I think we're close to filling up this thread so I've created a new one so we can continue to chat...

Not sure if I've got this link right but try this:
