Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

admarks today was my first day without testing! I will probably wait intol the weekend as I'm not sure I'm strong enough to stop altogether! I want to buy some more digi tests too, I only did one the day I missed AF and a couple of days later, both were 2-3.

samk15 · 04/05/2016 16:47

Zyla i am type 2 but I'm on a lot of insulin. Are you type 1 or 2? How did you find having diabetes with your first pregnancy? I'm very undecided about having an early scan at the moment.

Can I ask if anyone has been put on progesterone and if so when did you start using it?

Emz32 · 04/05/2016 17:03

I can't seem to stay away from testing either. I'm 6 weeks today & I did a CBD that said 2-3 again. I think my dates are 1-2 days out as I ovulated on day 15 but it has just made me more anxious. Trying not to be. No experience of progesterone sorry.

Iv been referred to my local epu because of my previous miscarriages & Iv been having quite a few sharp pains that come & go. I'm booked in for Friday when I'm 6+2. Can I hope to see a heartbeat or is it too early? Iv not had an early scan before except a private one at 8 weeks which diagnosed the MMC back in December.

GerberaDaisy · 04/05/2016 17:21

Usually you can see heartbeat from 6 weeks *Emz - so you should see this Friday :-) xx

Emz I had an early scan at 6 weeks (it was transvaginal) Blushbut they found a heartbeat. Good luck, I hope it goes well

Emz32 · 04/05/2016 17:37

Thank you. Iv pushed for it & now feel really anxious. Iv had so many transvaginal scans in the last few months with the MMC & the hospital messing it all up that I'm pretty used to them now. Thank you for the support. It feels so good to talk about it but still keep the secret, if that makes sense.

samk15 · 04/05/2016 19:24

Is it a good idea to pay for a private scan at 6 weeks? Both my mmcs happened between 6-8 weeks so I'm very undecided. The thought of going for the scan and them telling me there is no heartbeat already has me in tears and I almost feel like passing out. But the thought of waiting is equally just as torturous.

I really hope we all have lovely happy endings FlowersStar

ZylaB · 04/05/2016 19:46

samk I'm type 1. My scan is because all my appointments are at the hospital joint pregnancy/diabetes clinic. If that's where you'd be going then they will do an early scan as part of the usual checks. I had bad hypos for a few weeks (not started yet) and then my insulin requirements just went up..and up..and up throughout the pregnancy. Then I got preeclampsia lol. But, it was worth all the millions of tests and corrections I did as DD is perfect (she was 4 weeks early, but she's perfect!)

ZylaB · 04/05/2016 19:47

emz don't panic if they can't see a heartbeat at 6 weeks, the often can..but not always!

Admarks · 04/05/2016 20:41

Thanks for the reassurance about cramping Gerbera, it's good having someone who can pacify these little works! I'm sure when the cramping stops I will panic about something else, probably lack of cramping.

Also the effects of sneezing - I am trying to be gentle when I sneeze just in case, but it's next to impossible! I seem to have some sort of early hayfever type sneeze thing going on and am sneezing loads!!!

I'm going to test again tonight - DH thinks I'm mad, but I need the reassurance that everything is ok in there! I'll be placing an Amazon order for CBD this evening too!**

Hope all goes well on Friday Emz

Emz32 · 04/05/2016 22:07

Thank you so much. Samk15 you have just summed up exactly how I feel. My MMC didn't develop passed 5 weeks & I found out at 8.5 weeks. The fertilised egg had attached itself to a fibroid rather than my lining so it never stood a chance & my body couldn't detach it. All very traumatic but after having it removed I'm feeling more positive.... Generally. I do feel sick about Friday though & I do take all the advice on board. I will try not to panic (!) if they can't detect a heartbeat. I know it's still really early. My gynea consultant said that once they detect a heartbeat your risk of early miscarriage dramatically reduces. I'm not sure how accurate that is...

I keep getting painful sort of tugging feeling when I sneeze or cough. Is that the same for you Admarks? It takes me by surprise each time. Good luck with the testing. I'm staying well away after this mornings one.

swancourt · 04/05/2016 22:08

Hi ladies.

admarks and parney - the CBDs are NOT worth it. But that doesn't stop me! I can't help myself. Did an ordinary test today and the line came up immediately and was way darker than the control.

The CBDs are useless because there is so much variation between women, pregnancies, time of day, dilution of urine and so on, so the healthy HCG ranges are huge at any given week of pregnancy. The most important thing is that your HcG is doubling every 48 hours at first and then, after a certain point, every 72 hours.

BUT they fluctuated between 1-2 and 2-3 and back to 1-2 and then slowly, slowly up to 3+ with my last pregnancy, in which I also had no sickness (very unusual for me - I hurled LOADS with my two DDs), so when I started bleeding I just knew it was the worst. So this time I have been pleased to see a straight and steady rise on the CBDs even though I know it is ridiculous to put any faith in them.

With my chemical pregnancy a few years ago I lost all my symptoms at about 4+5, took a digi at 4+6 and it said 'not pregnant' - miscarried a couple of hours after. So that early on it was a good indicator that the pregnancy hadn't worked out.

I am stopping testing now though because last time I also continued to get positive pregnancy tests for ages - even a 3+ on the digi the day I went for my scan and it revealed that there was a yolk sac and a gestational sac appropriate to an 8 week pregnancy, but only a 0.6mm embryo with no heartbeat or shape when it should have been 1.6cm by that point). So now I've gone over 3+ I am pretty sure that my hormones are too high to vanish overnight.

Wow, that was longwinded!

parney I'm not going from LMP as I haven't had one since my MC which started on 4th March but didn't finish until 31st March. We began ttc 2nd April. I am sure I ovulated on 9th April, though - I absolutely knew I was ovulating that day (loads of CM up to that point - suddenly sharp pains in my left side and the CM stopped immediately). Started getting sore boobs on 16th April and told my DH I thought I was pregnant, but didn't get a (very very faint) positive test until 20th, which would be 11 DPO by my count. :D

swancourt · 04/05/2016 22:11

emz that's right about the heartbeat. It's not fail safe, of course, because nothing is, but it's a really good sign if they do see it :)

Parney · 04/05/2016 22:24

Swan I agree about digis but the illusion 3+ is tempting me! I've been enjoying am watching dark line form as doe runs up the Test. Way before control line too! I suppose the fear won't leave. Sorry to hear about your MC and you too Emz. Here's hoping for lots more luck this time.

swancourt · 05/05/2016 09:48

Same here parney and actually in my two MCs the digis didn't rise quickly (or fell backwards), and in my two healthy pregnancies they did. So even though I know, rationally, that it is probably all just bollocks - still it has sort of worked for me in the past.

This time I'm not feeling sick again (5+5 today) - I know it's early, but having had the 3+ already gives me reassurance it isn't necessarily bad news! Hopefully this time next week I'll be puking like a good'un.

MagpieCursedTea · 05/05/2016 11:21

Emz really hope the scan goes well for you.

Sounds like a few people have been getting pains. I woke up at 4am with a bad pain in my lower back and quite strong cramping. I really thought it was all over. I haven't had any bleeding though. The cramps have eased off a bit but still come and go. My lower back still hurts though. I had a GP appointment today anyway and she checked my urine and couldn't find an infection but has sent it off to be tested at the lab. She said it could just be everything stretching etc but I'll have to wait and see.
That's the hard part isn't it?

I'm managing to hold off doing my next CBD and was going to wait until the weekend. All this talk of using them is temping me to do it tomorrow though!

Parney · 05/05/2016 13:56

Swan it sounds so silly but I'm really hoping to be sick next week too 😂 Im 5+5 too and I did an OPK today by accident, thought it was an IC. It was so dark, almost black like somebody else has mentioned!
Magpie I hope the cramping eases off and id say it's just room being made for baby!

GinaC123 · 05/05/2016 15:10

Hi, all. Hoping someone could shed some light on this for me since I cant see my GP Until May 24th. Is it normal to have sharp (yet mild) pains through your belly button at around 5 weeks pregnant? I don't get them often, maybe once or twice a day and they only last a few seconds each time. I have been googling(shame on me) and ectopic pregnancy pops up and I freak out! LOL. Anyone else have this feeling? I wish they would see me now, but they wont.

MrsG32 · 05/05/2016 17:44

Hi I had a scan on Tuesday they said I'm less than 6 weeks they found a heartbeat a tiny white flicker so think I'm about 5 weeks. No idea when I'm due can't work out if it's late December or early January. According to last day of period it's late December but given scan dated me less than 6 weeks I think it's like to be early January. Today I've been having a few cramps don't know if that's normal. I was so ill in my last pregnancy found out 6-7 weeks but although I've been tired and feel sick if I don't eat every so often I'm doing ok. Sometimes major headaches.

The heartbeat is between the 2 crosses.

Finding out so early (I knew instinctively a few days / a week post conception) that I was pregnant.

GerberaDaisy · 05/05/2016 18:34

Hi Gina, with ectopic pregnancies usually the pain is felt only on one side (either the left or right Fallopian tube where the egg is). If you aren't bleeding I would try not to worry and just mention it to the GP if you are still concerned when you go. But it probably is just everything moving around and softening. Congratulations MrsG xx

Thanks! My post didn't even make sense haha I meant finding out so early is proving more stressful! We have moved house too I'm just generally knackered! X

GerberaDaisy · 05/05/2016 20:07

Yes when you find out early the pregnancy seems to last forever lol! Wow, you have a full plate with moving too! Xx
