Hi new year, new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lizzzombie · 25/01/2007 22:56

Hi - just gate crashing from Jan thread, I popped my LO out at the weekend & have to let everyone know that Tens machines really do work! I am a complete wuss & never thought it would make any difference, but I can't recommend them enough! Good luck everyone! x

MrsJohnCusack · 25/01/2007 23:13

it's true - he is gorgeous. being called this is bringing lots of fans out of the woodwork i've noticed. Marina swears that James Spader rools, but she is WRONG.
audition is on the 20th, 3 days before due date . HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I've no chance but I keep practicing in the hope that fate will be kind to me and I'll make it and be able to play properly...thanks for remembering!

suis · 26/01/2007 04:19

I have to concur Mrs JC... he's been a fave of mine for a long time...

Leahsmum, I couldn't agree more too... getting well hacked off. To add to the PGP pain, the restless leg and awful awful hearburn, I now have an itchy rash on my hands (just hormones nothing to worry about apparently), swelling of hands feet face and even on my bump which makes me feel like I am going to burst every evening, and now carpal tunnel in my hands meaning that I keep droping everything, which of course I can't then bend down to pick up. This is getting tedious to say the least.

On top of all that... we had our labour ward tour this eve. It made everything seem far too real. Some part of my brain still doesn't believe what is happening at all, but seeing a wee room where it will take place, and all the machines and instruments, and the ward for after was all a bit much. DP just keeps saying it will all be fine as long as I just do what the midwifes tell me to do and brushes off my fears.

suis · 26/01/2007 04:34

... on a better note... I meant to say Thank You to Snugglebum. My order arrived today all present and correct. Lovely lovely stuff ! Been wearing my new bra already (it's a joy to be comfy again) and trying out all the scrumptious nappies and wraps on a baby sized teddy bear that I've practicing on. Thank you for the Lasinoh sachets too, they went straight into the hospital bag !

Would happily recommend your website to anyone else out there !

MrsJohnCusack · 26/01/2007 05:07

I'd forgotten about the heartburn from last time - isn't it gruesome? I think it's probably the worst thing at the moment - even more so than the dead left hand from carpal tunnel and the SPD (which actually has improved a bit since the baby's head has dropped).

snugglebumnappies · 26/01/2007 07:02

Bienchen, I love the motherease airflow and the natures baby popper wraps, have a natures baby one hat I have used on DD since she was born and am still using it now she is 22 months as you can adjust the rise with the poppers, so really good value.

Suzi2 I have my own homebirth box that I have all the bits in I may need, aromatherapy oils, rescue remedy, homeopathy kit, small ball (size and density of a sqush ball for sacral massage, face spritz, straws, baby's first clothes etc) so I don't have to send DH running aimlessly round the house trying to find things that I demand! I also have some waterproof sheeting, old duvets for making a "nest" and old towels. I haven't got any "care mats/inco sheets" as used my last up on the last birth I attended and my midwife will bring some. I always recommend women have a clean bucket to hand in case they feel nauseaus, plenty of ice in the freezer, lots of snacks and easy to eat energy foods (dried fruit, cereal bars) but other than that I tend to take anything that would be needed. I don't bother with a hot water bottle as I have a heated pad that I use but your m/w may not so a hottie or a wheatie is a good idea. There really is not that much to get, oh you will prob want a sieve for the pool and a thermometer as your m/w will prob not pring ne, especially as you she they havn't had much experience in pool use, a floating thermometer from an aquatic supplier or baby store (one with the actually degrees on it not just a tick and a cross!) is prob the best then you don't have the m/w constantly dipping her hand in your pool and invading your space! If you are really not convinced about your m/ws palpation skills then I would ask for a second opinion and to be refered for a scan to give yourself as much time as poss to encourage baby to move.

Suis, glad everything arrived ok, the Rainbow Tots nappies are soooo cute I can't wait to get them on a tiny baby again! Just sorted out myself a huge nappy bin as I am going to have two in washables, that said DD has started to use her potty, but prefers the toilet (which is a but of a pain as we don't have one downstairs and it takes me forever to crawl slowly up the stairs at the moment so I think I am hindering her potty training a little!). Have decided that sleepsuits must now be a thing of the past for her as as soon as she is ready for bed she asks for the toilet and I have to strip her right down again, so from tonight she will be a grown up girl in PJ's! Seems so wierd as DS was only just fully toilet trained before his 5th Birthday (I know now that this is to do with the autism) so we are taking great delight in her weeing on a toilet at this age! The excitement of parenthood!

MoosMa · 26/01/2007 09:04

Ooh snugglebum, where did you get the big bucket? I would like to get one but can't seem to find one anywhere.

flowertot · 26/01/2007 09:43

Congratulations PlumpBump!!! Only just come back after weeks away from Mumsnet.

For the stats I am due Feb 23.

Have had bad few weeks, me and DH have parted. Timing obviously stinks with DC2 imminent but things had not been great for ages, then I got pregnant so we gave it a really good go, then circumstances prevailed which really offered me no choice. Basically I have lost everything so had to move back in with my parents for a time. DD and I now have our own place again so we are trying to make it into a home before the baby comes and turns our world upside down again! In a nice way though.
Good luck to all

snugglebumnappies · 26/01/2007 10:17

Moosma have been trying for ages to source some for the website with no luck so bought a large storage bucket, looks like an old fashioned pre wheelie bin bin made out of plastic, it has clips on the lid to keep prying fingers out! Got it from my local DIY store, it was less than £5, really sturdy and am very pleased with myself for being so organised!

Flower, reallly sorry to hear your news, it's great that you have your own place now and are feeling more settled. Hope you are enjoying the peace and calm with DD!

suzi2 · 26/01/2007 10:21

Thinking of you flowertot. Hope you're all nice and settled for your little one coming along.

Snugglebum/Tommy - Thanks. I reckon I have all those bits in the house so I just need to collate them all. I've packed a basic hospital bag for me and baby just incase but also so DH knows where to find some stuff. Tommy I got my bucket in focus DIY but I see that B&Q have them for 99p too. My mum bought me a asda value sieve and I had to laugh when she asked what it was for . Got all the birth pool bits - hose, thermometer etc so we're going for a trial run this weekend. DH isn't exactly brimming with enthusiasm about the whole thing though.

Snugglebum - I'm doing a lot of OFP anyway but figure that 2 mw's over several weeks can't be wrong. I think she just has long legs and has doubled over - hence the weird places for kicks. MW also said I had a lot of fluid and she is still completely free so she has a lot of scope to move around. Not totally surprising as DS never got more than 2/5ths in pelvis. Is that the definition of child bearing hips

suzi2 · 26/01/2007 10:26

Sorry - just realised it was moosma asking about buckets! And I reckon I've got it wrong that you're looking for a nappy type bucket? I got a 'dusty bin' style one for DS with a twist on lid (so it doesn't open easily) from Instore. I think it was £2. Not sure if they have Instore all over, but it used to be a poundstretchers where we live.

Alocin · 26/01/2007 10:26

Mmmm - John Cusack has always done it for me too - love the bit in Say Anything where he holds up the stereo, and the whole of Grosse Pointe Blank. Actually - speaking of men, I've been having some strange erotic dreams recently, including one the other night about Phil from Relocation Relocation. ooo errr!

MoosMa · 26/01/2007 11:47

I know what you mean Alocin, I did something a bit iffy with Max from Eastenders the other night !

Sallyallyally · 26/01/2007 12:20

Good luck flowertot. Glad you have your family to fall back on. Hope it works out for you.

Yes...I get the worst KNUF pains in bed at night or when driving, Leahsmum, so can relate to that one.

39 + 1 now. DD had been born by this stage so a little impatient. However have announced to the world that it's obviously not coming before March (year not specified). Had a fortnight of contractions,a show, and all those pre labour symptons and frankly not a sausage! Now has all settled right down and I feel I'm about as likely to go into labour as I am to win the lottery. (which is extremely unlikely as I never buy a ticket!) Ho hum!

forgottenfreetime · 26/01/2007 15:53

Hi all, sorry things haven't worked out betwen you and your h Flowertot, hope that you can find strength and support from us and your family when you need it.

I'm feeling bored.....Got loads of things I need to do but have that 'crawl back under the duvet feeling' big time. Keep having wildly unrealistic fantasies about what maternity leave on Mons Tues and Weds will be like when DS goes to nanny's house and I am on my own.... I'll either get masses done or have a huge sleep. However, DH will sack me if I don't get cheques into bank and DS will run around like a savge until 9pm unless I wake him from his nap which has nearly been 2 hrs now. Ho Hum no rest for the wicked.

Have a baby someone will you? Give us something to talk about!

leahsmum · 26/01/2007 16:32

Sorry to hear your news flowertot - I'm sure it'll work out fine for you, your daughter and your new little one.

sorkycake · 26/01/2007 16:38

Welcome back Flowertot!
I got my bucket for the birth from B&Q for 98p. I've yet to find a nappy bucket/bin cheap enough that I like and as it'll have to stay next to my washer I'd like a decent looking one.
Managed to locate the free M&P accessory pack for my Aria in another Argos, but it doesn't match the buggy! WTF how can you offer something that doesn't match the item you're buying? As look would have it the colours do match my pram so it'll do nicely in the end, and I only wanted the changing bag and raincover anyway

snugglebumnappies · 26/01/2007 16:47

Hi Sorky, mine look fine, made by addis I think, nice bright blue plastic, does go in the utility so no one apart from the daog has to look at it! I't a 23 litre bin looking at the reciept cost £4.99. How sad are we talking about buckets! Forgotten is right, someone have a baby, quick!!

peachygirl · 26/01/2007 16:50

I've bought some moxa to try tonight is that exciting enough for you??
Also no more show but some dark discharge (sorry TMI), which I think may have something to do with the position of the baby and the midwife having a poke around this morning..They can be a bit rough can't they?
I'll maybe be back later to post a bit more.

My Dad has predicted that I shall have a boy tomorrow. He was only 1 day out last time (predicted a girl on the 2nd, I was induced on the 2nd and she was born on the 3rd), but now that I know he's wrong about the gender (I haven't told anyone in RL) I'm not sure I can trust his judgement on the date either. Oh well. We'll have something to talk about soon if he's right, perhaps I shall do some bouncing on the ball tonight...

peachygirl · 26/01/2007 17:23

Moosma My dad has said that he had a dream and the celestial voices said it would be a boy and it would be called Jonathon

MoosMa · 26/01/2007 17:25

I'm still waiting for a prediction from my friend, last time she dreamt it would be a girl called Ellilina (we'd already decided to call her Eleanor/Ellie)

peachygirl · 26/01/2007 17:27

wow!

Tommy · 26/01/2007 18:01

I know I'm pregant and all that so my brain is a bit addled but I feel like I've missed something - what are the buckets for?!

Alocin · 26/01/2007 18:38

Buckets are for reusable nappies!
