I'm very excited about being able to say 'I'm having a baby next month!' - yay!

peachygirl · 01/01/2007 11:15

Hooray you found it!!!

well done peachy - I was thinking that the other one was getting a bit long. Happy New Year to you.

Tommy · 01/01/2007 11:22

god - you're scaring me now! Next month

Actually had a look at my notes last night to check time of my scan tomorrow and discovered that at my 20 week scan they gave me a date of 16th - a whole 9 days earlier than I have been thinking. I know they just come when they want but it suddenly made me realise that it could be much sooner than I thought!

Thanks for the new thread, peachy. Happy new year to you all

peachygirl · 01/01/2007 11:23

I did wonder if we might get to 500 posts but decided to take a deep breath and make the new one. Happy new yaer to you both.
I'm currently escaping from MIL who is here.

Happy New Year to all!! Still suffering the effects of getting to bed at 2am! I am normally awake at that time but have usually had a few hours kip before that! Went to a friends party - which was good but need to relax today!

Sorted out all the buba clothes I have got left from d and also what I have been given and put them away in the new wardrobe! Just need to get a storage box of some sort to fit under the cot to put bedding in - hubby needs to go in the loft fairly soon to get the rest of the stuff out - I have a need to see what I have got (even though I know that I don't need to buy anything!!!)

suzi2 · 01/01/2007 16:11

Happy New Year. Lovely to have a shiny new thread thanks peachy. It is certainly getting close now. Anywhere from another 25 days for me is full term... I have given up driving today. I promised DH and my parents that I would as my bump is getting quite close to the wheel. So I'm now relying on lifts everywhere from my dad. But I guess it's not for too long.

ChaCha · 01/01/2007 16:33

Happy New Year to you all

Not sure if you remember me, haven't posted for ages, fell behind on all the posts and never managed to catch up. Yes, agree on the daunting 'i'm having a baby next month' - it's come around so quickly. I have done nothing to prepare for this one and need to get a move on, I think i had hospital bag packed and full of goodies and everything else more or less ready at this stage with DS last year - am very lazy!

Is there anyone else who has a v.close age gap between their kids? I can't remember. I'm starting to panic now!

Off to nurse our colds - we are full of it here. A Happy 2007 to you all ladies x

CurrantBun · 01/01/2007 17:49

Happy New Year to you all, and thanks for the new thread Peachy! Sorry to hear that some had quite stressful Christmases - hope everything resolves itself - and that lots of you are tired/in pain/fed up/hormonal.

We had a quiet Christmas, just me, my mum and DH. Was lovely though and very relaxing. Went to friends for dinner for New Year's Eve which was great; really enjoyed myself despite abstinence from alcohol. Didn't get to bed until 3am so feeling a little jaded today, but just chilling out at home with DH after treating ourselves to a nice cooked breakfast this morning.

Bump feels huge to me but people are constantly telling me how 'neat' it is and how I haven't put on any weight except the bump. I feel as though I have but maybe it's just because I look completely different to how I looked pre-pregnancy and have never seen myself with a huge belly before! Feeling really well though - no heartburn, nausea, tiredness or pains (sorry, not what you all want to hear, I'm sure).

Had my 31-week midwife appointment on Friday, the first with a different midwife from the one I have seen since the start. Didn't like this one much - she was pleasant enough, but rather perfunctory: just went through the motions of testing urine, blood pressure etc. (all fine) but didn't seem particularly interested so I was glad I didn't have any issues to bring up. My blood test results from my last appointment (for iron etc) still haven't been sent through after 3 weeks, which I thought was a bit poor, but assume if there were any problems I would have been contacted. If not I've been anaemic for three weeks now with no treatment!

Getting a bit worried reading how organised you all are! We now have pram and car seat, also nursery furniture but no cot. Have a few soft toys and a couple of baby outfits picked up in the sale (for older baby though). Have no idea what size clothes to buy as have no idea how much baby will weigh - will it be in tiny baby or newborn size, and should I buy some of each just in case? Haven't even thought about a hospital bag yet, although I only have 8 weeks to go until 40 weeks and of course may not get that far. I should have taken heed at next door neighbour's case - she's just had baby 5 weeks early. Could be me although hope not as still oads to do at work before maternity leave starts and would like some me-time at home before little one arrives!

peachygirl · 01/01/2007 17:59

currentbun of the clothing bits I have I've got mainly newborn and some 0-3 stuff. It's interesting that some of the sizes do differ even though they are all 'newborn'. I read in a book that if your baby is small you can put on a larger baby gro and pop a pair of socks over the feet to keep them in place which is quite a good idea.
I think someone else also posted about the different size of baby clothes.
If our baby is really small I'll send DH or mum out to get a pack of sleep suits to keep us going.

OP posts:
MoosMa · 01/01/2007 19:12

I agree on the clothes size thing, it's better to be too big than too small too in case they have a sore head for a while.

ChaCha I don't know what your age gap is, mine will be 17.5 months and I'm panicking too!

suzi2 · 01/01/2007 20:18

DS wasn't in the newborn clothes long (3 or 4 wks) so I'm reluctant to buy too mcuh this time. However, 0-3 seem so big. M&S do a "up to 1 month" which is sort of between then two so I have picked up a few bits in that. Tesco always seemed a good size to me, M&S were made smaller and ASDA were made for wide babies lol.

forgottenfreetime · 01/01/2007 21:32

Hello all and Happy New Year. I'm reading about all the organised people who have packed bags and sorted out baby clothes already and feeling a bit panicked, guilty and foolish - reason being I delivered ds1 4 weeks early which would be three weeks tomorrow if follows with this baby. Hadn't evenn bought a packet of nappies or packed a bag at the time and was still at work. You'd think I'd be more prepared this time! Think I'll take inspiration from you all and try to do some sorting out tomorrow. Am really impressed by how well you seem to be managing the diabetes thing Andyrobo - if it had been me at Xmas I wouldn't have stopped complaining about it - wot no chocolate?! Getting lots of braxton Hicks now (at least that's what I think they are) and yesterday had a bit of a scare with tummy ache and back ache which wouldn't go with changing posture. Got in the bath which eased it a bit but it came back when I got out. Really really don't want this baby to come early - felt I'd really missed out by not having any maternity leave last time - just work then straight into new job as mummy! Still, what will be, will be... Here's to a safe delivery and healthy contented babies for us all!

bubblebell1 · 02/01/2007 09:47

happy new year everyone!

i too cannot believe that lo will be here so soon. seems all pregnancy i have been wishing to have him and now i am scared. this time it will be a cs and am a litle nervous well really nervous feels like im a first timer again. anyone had a previous cs and care to ease my mind??

my bags are half packed still want to get a nursing cushion and bits and bobs but should all be finished by the weekend.

good luck girls xxx

12yeargap · 02/01/2007 11:51

Oh, dear God, it's next month!

I hadn't thought of it like that!

panics

actually, I've got pretty much everything except new mattresses for moses basket and cot (both 2nd hand)and hospital things - I don't own a nightie, better get moving on that...

peachygirl · 02/01/2007 13:20

12 yr gap have you got a Matalan near you? I've just kitted myself out for the hospital there for £30.
I got 3 nighties (£6each) very groovy - one has a sleeping zebra on it and another a gingerbread man [hmmm] I am really not a nighty person!!
5 pairs of pants for £2.50 and 3 black pairs for £1 each.
a pair of slippers fo £2 - the wonders of having child size feet
and some soft fluffy socks
I also got a casual top with a bit of sparkle on it so I can feel vaguely glam after, that was only £4. I'm quite pleased with my stash really. I think the prices wold be comparable with Primark and although I would love M and S stuff I know I will throw most of it away.

Has anyone got nice ideas for names? we have had our chosen for a while now.
Nova for a girl with the middle name Peach - my maiden name. I'm the last in the Peach family to have children as my brother will not have any. Nova comes from an actress (famous many years ago) who actually has the same surname as us (and is probably distantly related to us due to it being quite an unsual surname) Maya is in reserve.
If it did turn out to be a boy It will probably be Adam Robert (Robert for DH's dad) I love the name Linus but DH who suggested it (originally as a joke, I think) doesn't like it anymore.

Happy new year to you all, have not been posting for ages but will try to be a bit less lazy now. Have mw appt booked for later today but we usually talk for 8 mins about all sorts of other stuff (he is into amateur dramatics!) and spend two mins checking wee and blood pressure...

We had a lot of guests around for New Year's Eve and I sort of chucked them at at one as I was fearing they would stay for breakfast! We have most of the baby stuff apart from some clothes which I will probably buy soon after the birth. DP is tall and I am small, so baby could be any size really. I need to get a cot mattress and sheets but not desparate as we have a Moses basket for early days. I also want to buy a gymball which I was hoping for for Xmas but did not materialise.

Anyone else a bit low on iron? Have discovered that Weetaflakes are really yummy and contain more than 15mg iron per 100gr.

12 year gap, mine will be 12 year gap too! DS 12th birthday on 4th of Jan!

julezboo · 02/01/2007 13:48

Hiya all

Im another one who fell behind on the other thread and didnt manage to catch up!

Im 33 weeks now, bubs is measuring 37 weeks have a GTT tomorrow and another growth scan. My fluid levels are dropping around the baby, so he could be here sooner rather than later! Ive got everything though, its just not very organised lol. Although my bags are packed and in the car ready Just in case they keep me in tomorrow! Its scarily close now isnt it?!?!

Im getting regular BH's too, every hour or so last night, kept me up! But Im also suffering with flu/chest infection and trying to keep myself hydrated so I dont kick start into labour!

Hope everyone is well

Julie 33wks!

ChaCha · 02/01/2007 15:15

I'm glad i've logged on and been able to catch up!

Moosma - The age gap between my two should be 14 months - not much difference between us. We all have the flu at the moment and I'm finding things a little difficult, makes thinking about the same scenario add one new member a tad daunting to say the least! Should be glad though we are not all like this too near the time.

Julezboo - Good luck with the scan. Also hope you feel better too, how do you find sleep? I am only comfortable on the sofa with my nursing pillow, is difficult now as DS needs to sleep upright and i keep him awake just as he nods off with my coughing and moving around. Had the same last year, last trimester was just soooo uncomfy.

Bubblebell1 - I had an emergency section last year, was totally unprepared but everything went well and scar has healed just fine. I had no problems breastfeeding and was up and about pushing DS to town 4 days post operation (was overwhelmed when out though). I was fortunate enough to have my father around for 2 months so i got plenty of sleep and didn't have to worry about meals etc.. this time round will be a very different story though. Take lots of comfy pj's/nighties, I had massive granny pants thanks to George or Tesco that got thrown away daily and just try and get as much rest as you can when the baby sleeps. DH changed my dressing and washed my hair when visiting which was an absolute treat and a real pick me up - Take some favourite toiletries! I could go on but don't want to bore everyone, CAT me if i can be of any more help x

julezboo · 02/01/2007 15:54

ChaCha - tbh Ive totally given up on getting a full nights sleep for at least a year now lol!

At one point I have slept on a matress on the floor, on the couch, on the bottom ofDS's bunk beds, I have 3/4 regular pillows, one v-shaped one and a long pregnancy one, If its not my chest keeping me awake, its the peeing, or the BH's or DP's snoring or my hips, I have suffered on and off from sciatica pain too, So Ive given up! I get the odd hour here and there and will be glad when DS(4) is back at school next week so I can go back to having my daytime naps!

I didnt really get that much into the third trimester with DS he was born at 31 weeks due to PRE E and small growth (on the other end of the scale this time!) so all this is new to me and Im pretty sure my DP is sick of hearing me huff anf puff anf whinge and cry! I cry at everything nowadays!

I have to be at the hospital for 8am tomorrow, keep telling myself they arent going to spring a c/s on me haha! I will update when I get home later that day!

peachygirl · 02/01/2007 16:21

good luck julez, fingers crossed that you do get to log on later tomorrow

OP posts:
Tommy · 02/01/2007 16:26

hey peachy - I like Linus too! Dh not keen though.

Had my scan today - fortunately the placenta has moved so I can start getting ready for my homebirth

The sonographer did say rather quietly "It does seem on the chunky side though..." (estimated weight at the moment - about 5 and a half pounds)) I told her that since my DSs were both nearly 9lbs, it wasn't anything to worry about!

Saw MW today as well and started talking about homebirth. She lokked at the bedroom and made a few suggestions and will being homebirth box round next time (3 weeks)

It all seems very real now

TuttiFrutti · 02/01/2007 17:39

Bluebell, don't worry about your csection, I had one last time and it was fine. Focus on meeting your baby and how exciting that will be!

I spent most of today at the hospital, had a scan this morning which showed the low-lying placenta has moved up and the baby is at long last head down (it was breech until a few days ago) but the fibroids are still there - they THINK - can't actually see them now as hidden by the huge baby!

I persuaded them to book me in for an elective cs and have got a date: 9th Feb! It feels very real now .

bubblebell1 · 02/01/2007 17:43

thanks tutti. how many weeks are you? how many weeks will you be on the 9th feb? my hosp wont book me in until i am 36 weeks which is 11th jan. so still in limbo til then.
