emma my 25 week appt sounds similar to nehagarg's except the midwife didn't measure my bump. She checked BP, tested urine, felt for the baby's position (head down at the moment!) and movements, and listened to the heartbeat. We also had a good chat about birth options- we talked about home birth vs midwife led unit, which was really useful. And lovely that you've felt movements!

Great news on the GTT nehagarg

Welcome and congratulations homeboddy!

nehagarg · 19/02/2016 17:23

Yay congrats and welcome homeboddy. Dont pay any attention to what people say about your bump. I have had you are huge and you are tiny and realised it depends on what I am wearing.

Thanks Mollie. Very relieved.

DH is going to go back to the U.K. and get all our baby things out of my mum and dad's loft. It will probably be in the next few weeks, I think after that I am going to be super excited. It still feels a long way off for me but hopefully that will make it feel much more real.

The only thing I know I definitely need are new baby bottles and play gym.

Homeboddy49 · 19/02/2016 18:42

Thanks Spock. You are right. I need to have quick fire replies tucked under my arm ready for these comments. Also it's true about the growth spurts isn't it. Plus we are all different how we carry our babies. I've had so many comments about it though I asked the sonographer last week if the baby was above average size and she said no, not at all so I also have this official medical fact to throw back in people's face!!

I think also I am really hormonal. Had a few tears today and that's really not like me. Anyway, it's Friday night and what can be better than that?

Grapefruitforever · 19/02/2016 20:10

Welcome homeboddy :) We're almost due date buddies - I'm due 27th June with my first. Also v hormonal at the moment - it's strange not to feel v in control of my feelings!
It's Fri night but I'm on call all weekend so feeling sorry for myself! Counting down the number of weekends left to work before maternity leave...

Homeboddy49 · 19/02/2016 20:45

That's brilliant Grapefruit. Great to have others at the end of June.

When are you planning to start your mat leave then? I have told work 3 weeks before my due date but now I'm wondering if I should take a month incase she arrives early. Plus as it is summer the extra time lying around in the garden on the deck chair would be amazingSmile

Grapefruitforever · 19/02/2016 21:15

I've gone for 4 weeks before due date but might even take a weeks holiday before that and go at 35 weeks. Deck chairs and sunshine sound amazing :) - I suspect I'll be frantically trying to prepare for the new arrival - still feeling quite clueless in spite of all these great posts from people with kiddies already!

Belleboo23 · 19/02/2016 21:45

I really don't know when to finish, docs have done my form just need to pick it up. Both mine were early ds at 35 and dd was at 34+4 weeks so I worry about my waters breaking at work, might traumatise the kids at the school I'm at!!

earlgreydrinker · 19/02/2016 21:58

Catching up, haven't been on in a while.
No bloom here I've been back and forward to the doctors with really dry, itchy skin so have a great stash of all sorts of moisturisers.
24 weeks tomorrow, midwife on Tuesday. Baby is a real wriggler!
Got a bargain NCT close caboo baby sling today which I'm chuffed about.

chillipopcorn1 · 19/02/2016 22:15

Hi all catching up again as this thread moves so fast Smile. 23 weeks here and got my detailed scan this morning. I look enormous (twins) - there's a girl at work who's pregnant with one and she's 30 weeks and slightly smaller than me Shock.
Lots of kicking and squirming here which is so amazing. And my husband can feel it too as well! We live abroad and will be moving back in summer when the babies are tiny so I'm taking maternity leave super early. got two weeks Easter holiday and then not going back so really only got 5 more weeks! Otherwise all my maternity would be in the summer holidays when I'm not working anyway Hmm but a bit worried that I'll be bored out of my brain! Twins likely to come early though and I want to rest and sleep them cooking. We have bought our first baby grows and one Moses basket...that's it!

Smiler81 · 19/02/2016 22:55

Chillipopcorn nice to find someone else expecting twins at about the same time.

I planned my maternity leave today and hoping to take 11 months off between 9 months mat leave and holiday. Made things really real, but really looking forward to it now.

We're off to the baby show in London this weekend? Anyone else going? Need to look at buggies and cot options, but the oh has already warned me about getting signed up to too much!

Homeboddy49 · 19/02/2016 23:15

Out of interest 'earlgrey drinker', do you get eczema?
I do and my skin has got so much worse and more itchy during pregnancy. Couldnt find any moisturiser to help my face which was getting ridiculously flaky. Anyway, I started using a tiny bit of steroid cream on my face and it cleared up over night. Strictly speaking you aren't meant to use it on your face but it's the only thing that has worked.

nehagarg · 20/02/2016 04:49

Smiler, a few of us are. I will be there tomorrow, Sunday, in hopes of last minute deals.

Congrats chilli. Glad all is well. Smile

Thanks Nehagarg and Smiler :) yay to twins! I'm jealous of you all going to the baby show. Think we have decided on a Bugaboo Donkey twin as in-laws have very very generously offered to pay the extortionate price! What are you thinking of smiler?

BiffleRoo · 20/02/2016 07:51

Loving the fact that the wiggles and squiggles inside have turned in to full on kicks and fidgets that can be seen and felt from the outside. Can't wait for DH to get home and feel her it's really strange not being able to 'share' it with him this time.

The nursery is well underway now and name plate has arrived for her door. Wardrobe slowly filling with clothes and all DS's clothes are sorted ready to sell. All getting very real and exciting now!

jbiscuits · 20/02/2016 08:16

I'm slightly jealous of all the exciting shopping everyone's needing to do. All we need to buy this time round is a double pushchair (bought in the January sales), a chest of drawers and a new crib mattress. Everything else will be passed down from DS. I think I still might end up buying a few new outfits and toys though Smile

mrsmugoo · 20/02/2016 09:08

Literally haven't bought a single thing or done one iota of preparation yet! I missed out on the pushchair I was going to buy on eBay so taking that as an omen to wait and see if I can get away with sling/buggy board instead.

Baby clothes are in my mums loft, will get them down and sort through in a few weeks. Co-sleeping probably so nothing needed for that.

LouLou030783 · 20/02/2016 09:32

Is anyone finding it difficult to buy baby clothes I know the sex but OH doesn't so I'm trying up but neutral at the moment but it feels like there is nothing in the shops

mrsmugoo · 20/02/2016 09:43

We didn't find out sex last time and DS spent at least his first 2 months in plain white babygros (mainly from Asda as they're the best!)
I love newborns in plain white :)

Smiler81 · 20/02/2016 09:48

Wow you are so organise biffleroo, we're moving house before the little ones arrive so I think it's going to be last minute nursery planning for us.

We're hoping the baby show will help with deciding on a buggy I want to be able to get in and out of the front door/ shop doors relatively easily so was a bit concerned about the side by side twin buggies but well hopefully be able to test them tomorrow and decide what's best for us. The options seem to be:

Jané Powertwin Pro
Baby jogger city
Icandy peach blossom 3

Bugaboo donkey twin

There appear to be pros and cons for each.

Have you all signed up to antenatal classes and which have you gone for??

Mrspopper · 20/02/2016 09:52

Those having twins... My friend has a bunk bed cot and says its great. She got a deal at baby show. Worth going with an idea of what you'd like so you can get the discounts on the day. Good luck to those braving the baby show... My idea of hell! I can just about cope with John Lewis. Also have bought nothing but another girl so sorted for clothes/slings/sleepyhead.

LouLou030783 · 20/02/2016 09:54

Mrs mugoo I'm struggling to even find decent white stuff is murder Asda didn't have a great selection at all x

Belleboo23 · 20/02/2016 10:08

Maybe worth looking at Asda George online they will send to store for free. Next sale has plain white babygrows online but best to look first thing in the morning when stock levels are updated. I think they are £9 for 5, I got some girl ones that are so pretty from there and I like that they have built in scratch mits

MadrigalElectromotive · 20/02/2016 10:11

I bought some newborn sleepsuits in Sainsbury's the other day and they seem like good quality for the money - £5 for 3.

Another weekend of decorating here...joy! Smile

Hope everyone who is going enjoys the baby show.
