I am also already on maternity leave (two weeks in), although I should have been working for another two weeks after this one. Once my fluid dropped I told school that I wouldn't be back until September!

As I have been on bed rest for most of the time, I have watched Midsomer Murders and crocheted! I have started a chevron blanket (and a striped one) and I have knitted DD a pair of gloves. DS now wants some gloves too!

Aargh I still have car nightmares, after taking it to the garage on Tuesday they couldn't find anything wrong and assured me it was very unlikely to just stop. Tried to drive it to work yesterday and it just cut out, luckily I was on a quiet road and managed to park up just in time. RAC came out again but as the car started ok he wanted me to just drive it to a garage. I needed to take it back to the one near home and he insisted it was safe for me to take it on the m25 (over the Dartford bridge) and down the a2 even at 7.5 months pregnant. After having a mini meltdown at that prospect and crying A LOT he still wouldn't budge so I had to pay over £100 for a private tow. I can't believe that given my circumstances they couldn't bend the rules, what on earth do I pay them for! Have written a formal complaint and car is back in the garage again. Luckily my boss is awesome so I'm working from home.

Missi sorry to hear about Zach's eye problems, fx it gets sorted and good luck with the jab Flowers

Me I had a very similar night sleep as you, we went cinema last night and didn't get home until 11 and that's way past my bedtime and kept tossing and turning all night Sad I feel so hungover!!

I have my 34 week appointment today, looking forward to hearing baby's hb and discussing birth plans with my mw :) 5 weeks + 3 days to go, 2 weeks left at work Shock

Random question for cat owners! My 1 year old cat is refusing to eat her soft food since Tuesday, I bought a new make, normally use felix mixed (fish + meat) but I thought I'll change that and bought Morrisons make and she's refusing to even taste it, her brother is eating fine. So I went and bought them felix again but not the usual one I got just meat and she's not eating it either :(
What do I do I was worried she was poorly but she definitely isn't as she's still playing, purring, etc... Do I buy the usual one they use to have or leave her until she gives up and eats it?

indomitable "Rennie at an acid spill" made me splutter coffee all over my boobies. 😄

paperblank I'm going for telly box sets (really want to start E.R from the very beginning - figure it'll last through a year of sleepless nights!) also dragging my bum around the local park and swimming. My sister is getting married in August, that's for months to get my self into some kind of shape that the bridesmaids dress will zip up.
Whilst waiting for baby I will mostly be cat napping and folding up baby vests.

luckygirlcharlie hello! sounds like you've had an action packed couple of months! I really hope hyper active bump doesn't mean a baby that's awake 22 hours a day or I'm in for trouble Grin

missicat 💐 Oh! You poor thing, I'm feeling sad and frustrated for you. 😔 I think about Zach quite a bit. X

yeah we've already covered positioning a few times in my class sher but my yoga teacher has a specific class which has a lot more moves in it designed to turn babies round, so she's doing that next week instead of the class she had planned (each week has a different focus).

I've been sitting on a yoga ball at work and at home since about 16 weeks! think I must just have the type of pelvis that encourages back to back, but going to do everything I can to turn this baby. have also had a look at the spinning babies website a few times and did with DD but didn't do them often enough I think, just need to find the time/remember to do them!

rosie how long has your cat not eaten for? if more than a day, I'd take her to the vet. Mind you I wouldn't really know with my cat - he hates wet food and only eats dry, so we just top it up when we notice it's been eaten basically when he complains at me and we realise it's been empty for a day or so, whoops

me624 not as bad as you, but still a naff night for me too. Worse is DP over slept so I had to get up (previous day off work!) and run him in.

MrsElls that's ridiculous! I hope your complaint goes somewhere. I absolutely hate car trouble as I always feel like a daft damsel in distress.

Rosie in my experience cats are aloof and fussy! Stick to your guns and give her the food you've bought. Does she go out? We had an issue with a neighbour feeding our cat - or she was sneaking in and stealing 😳 Still the massive fluffy thing she always is but doesn't always need dinner 😁

marmite I sound really harsh with my cat! rosie if she goes a bit 'off' like hating having her tummy touched or doesn't eat for days definitely go to the vet like Marmite says!

Had my 32 week appointment this morning, everything seems ok, little guy is comfortably head down but has gone from having his back on the right to the left. Bit annoyed though, had the cover midwife (who I'm not a big fan of) rather than my normal one, and she had managed to book out all the appointments already for the week I'm supposed to have my 34 week appointment so I'm stuck waiting on a call or email to know when and where the feck my next appointment will be. In work now and I just want to go hmoe and go back to bed tbh.

marmite she's been eating her cookies but not touching her soft food.

Ohwool I was stroking her belly this morning and she was purring she even rolled over haha

I don't know if I should take her to the vet if she's eating cooking, I just feel like she's being stubborn until I get her the mixed felix

Rosie, my cat is exactly the same, thankfully we've found about three kinds that she likes so can usually get something she'll eat. I'd stick with it too, does she have biscuits down too and she's eating those? She won't starve then!

Just back from my 34 week appointment, I had a cover midwife too, she was very businesslike which is the opposite of my normal midwife! Urine sample, blood pressure and heartbeat all good, size all fine, hooray. I mentioned the couple of days of dizziness I'd had and she took some blood to check my iron, hopefully that will come back fine, I've heard the iron tablets are horrible! Only two weeks until my next appointment, things are stepping up a bit now! She asked me if I had my bags packed and told me to get on with it...

Being ever so organised I bought yet more of the boring bits for after the birth on my way home, wet toilet wipes and lactulose. First-timers, I cannot stress this enough - buy some laxatives in advance (breastfeeding-friendly if you plan to, so lactulose or fibogel). You might not need them but if you do you'll be glad to have them to hand. I felt so ill with constipation in the week after the birth that I couldn't go out to get them myself, had to rely on DH and he came back with something super weak. Said they didn't have any lactulose but it's over the counter only (because it's way better than the alternative) and I bet he didn't bother to go to the proper chemist.

Sorry, that was quite a tangent...

Still having on and off mild period cramps but largely ignoring them as they're so minor. Have 34 wk appt tomorrow so will ask the midwife about them anyway.

rosie if she's eating her cookies then she's prob just being fussy so I wouldn't bother with the vets. good luck winning a battle of wills with a cat though Wink

yay for head down baby Suz Grin

trijo if the back is on the left that's actually a good thing (your left, I assume?) as means less likely to be back to back in labour. DD2 is moving around a lot but tends to swing from back to back (I feel kicks right at the front) and back lying on the right (I feel kicks on my left hand side), which is not good.. also, I don't know about your doctors surgery, but mine get booked up quite a way in advance - I booked my 34 week appt 4 weeks in advance (but as I'm a second time mum, don't have a 32 week appt). With DD I didn't do this and had exactly the same thing happen to you - at my 32 week appt I was told there were no 34 week appts and I had to get squeezed in. So this time I am ringing in advance to book!

I also second suz's suggestion of getting in laxatives before baby is born. I had terrible constipation after DD for ages - the MW at the 5 day check up was really concerned I hadn't gone since before labour. I hadn't really thought much of it as my digestive system was so slow before baby born, but obviously not going for that long is pretty bad!

Just had a Cadbury's chocolate peanut brunch bar with cup of tea - was the most amazing thing ever Grin

Rosie we have this if we stray away from Felix as good as it looks snooty gits, stuck on the posh stuff forever now.. If she is drinking and is perky she's probably just being fussy but if she doesn't eat by tomorrow I would probably take her to the vet as part of my "3 day hamster" rule, better, the same or dead.. I should probably not apply this to my child

Missi sorry to hear about Zachs eye problems, good luck with his jabs - he does seem very small to be having them but I guess thats how it works.

Glad appointments have been going well this morning - had my 34 week MW one who talked through my consultants comments of last week in a far better manner, head down and all fine.. Back next week for BP check but I think that is going to be weekly until I pop now...

My appointments are in a community setting - at a children's centre about 1km from where I live rather than at the surgery (we have 3 choices for hospitals so no midwives at the surgery), appointments are only on Thursday mornings there, and I've never had this problem before. If she doesn't call by Monday or Tuesday I'm going to call up the community midwives base and get cranky, it's a bit unreasonable to leave people hanging when you're to be seen every 2 weeks at this stage.

Don't think he's ever been back to back at any stage, judging from position of kicks early on I reckon he was transverse until 26 weeks then had a day where there was a lot of shifting and went head down, back was on my right side at my 28 week appointment and it's now on my left.

Growth scan went ok. More scans at 36 and 38 weeks, will find out induction date at 38 week scan! Eek.

Hello everyone!

So many posts on this thread already! Hard to keep track of everyone's news at this stage!

I'm still on antibiotics for urine infection. Just coming to end of 7 day course but they want me to take one a day until 37 weeks as a preventative. Not sold on the idea a but guess it's better than getting another infection.

Having a crap week all round as the lurgy has been going round at work. Struggled through mon & tyes but OH forbade me to go in yesterday or today. It's rare he puts his foot down on things but he was adamant! Feel a bit better for resting up but now very worried about the work load o have to catch up on :p

Going through a few emails now while watching eastenders! Can't wait for mat leave mine is 4th march so a while to go, will not miss commute into London!

I've def been getting the 'fanny daggers', the boy is head down so imagine that's why. Had my 32 week appoint and all seems fine but was locum midwife and she booked me in for next appointment at 36 weeks. I've since booked in another appointment at 34 weeks with reception. We are meant to be having them at 34 weeks right?

Excited about house move finally! We have lots to do in next few weeks do hoping baby isn't early!

dobbythedoggy · 28/01/2016 16:55

neh wonderful news about the house move! I bet you can't wait to finally get in there.

beaut glad the car insurance hasn't given you any trouble.

rosie mine and my sister's cats are both felix addicts. They'll eat their iams when they're straving but would probably starve themselves rather than wat any other wet food. My dad has reguarly attempted to switch brands and it usually ends up in them raiding the fridge... which as they have a very tall fridge frezzer with the fridge at the top is an impressive act of desperation. Maybe your cat is just helping to prepare you for the inevetable fussy eatting phases in the toddler years.

After far too many nights of csc my body seems to have given up and all I want to do is sleep. After what can only be described as an escape attempt through my ribs last night when I was trying to go to sleep, I feel asleep at 1.30 and apparently kicked dh until he turned his alarm off and got up at 6 and struggled out of bed with dd when she woke up at 8. Retreated back to bed when dh got home ant 10 and slept until dd had had enough of him at 2.30. Despite the unheard of solid deep sleep as soon as I'd eatten I just wanted to go back to bed again. Looking forward to bedtime, hoping that I can crawl into bed and actually sleep. But I think as soon as I can actually go to sleep I won't be able to.

Dd is being rather bump obcessed now. Easter eggs are the shops and she knows bump should be here before she gets her easter eggs. She keeps asking him when his going to pop out. After being told his still needs to get a bit bigger she now keeps trying to pump him up through my belly button using her medicen syringe.

Wow, this thread is moving fast, will have to wait until I have a quiet hour or two to catch up!

I'm joining the ranks of those having to have growth scans. Just got back from my 34 week appt, baby is head down (yey), back to my left (yey), but growth has slowed (boo). Has been measuring way over the 95th centile throughout, but bump had only grown 2 cm since 31 week check, which has put him below the 95th centile today Sad. MW said she wasn't conned, but then when she gave me a scan date for Wed, and I asked if it could be a different day (my last full day at work and I'm on call so will be super busy), she essentially said no it couldn't wait. Have spoken to work and they have been great and organised cover so I can go, so now I'm just focusing on the fact that bump measurements are inaccurate and the fact baby is moving is a good sign....right? Hmm

Rosie, if she's acting normally she probably has just taken offence at you changing the menu. My cat stopped eating at the weekend, and looked a bit elderly. I got a bit worried, but then gave her a Tesco pouch instead of the Felix she'd been happily eating for 3 weeks and she's happy as Larry!

She's been refusing the dry biscuits since we bought something deeply offensive and to save chucking it all mixed it up with her usual. She only eats it when she's desperate!

I am so exhausted this evening. DS took over from marmite's DD and wandered in at 4:30 this morning, then again, about 5ish, and then was playing with his toys loudly till 6ish. At least he's capable of entertaining himself!

Need to plan my lessons for tomorrow and go to sleep!

Rosie I'm another with a very fussy cat. We never try to change him to another brand anymore as he simply refuses it and stands by his food bowl meowing pitifully. We only feed him biscuits, however despite his fussiness with them he is perfectly happy to eat almost any "human" food especially if it's expensive - he is very partial to tuna and smoked salmon!

I'm a bit worried about him because he has become more or less a house cat in the last couple of months after being very badly bullied by other more aggressive cats in the road (he's a total wimp) but I think he'll be scared of the baby too! Will have to make sure he has a place of refuge where he can hide. He will have to be banished from our bedroom at night too while the baby is in with us which he will hate!

Lots of appointments happening this week! doc it doesn't sound like you have much to worry about, if you're 34 weeks and he has grown 2 cm since 31 weeks that's only 1cm less than you'd expect? I'm sure he'll be absolutely fine but extra scans can't hurt. I'm not at all jealous of all you ladies with these 95th centile monsters! I have been steadily on the 50th centile throughout and yesterday at my 34 week appointment (although I am actually now 35 weeks!) I was measuring a week behind so just under 50th centile - midwife didn't seem concerned though. Hoping for a nice easy sub-8lber!

Thank you girls for all your advice Smile I gave up though as I can't be dealing with the worries and bought her the mixed selection felix as good as it looks and guess what she polished it!! Cheeky shit!! Haha I swear they put drugs in felix looks like I'm stuck with it not even bothering to change it again!!

Just had my 34w app and all is good baby's heart is good so as measurements. We spoke about my birth plan and everything and I can tell you now I'm super excited and nervous it feels so real Shock

Report
hayleycookie · 28/01/2016 19:59

Doc Mine was similar. Have been on 95th centile since they started measuring my bump, and hes now dropped down to the 90th I think and his growth line has gone down the past two measurements. They want to do another scan in 2 weeks to check the rate he's growing. As far as I know they just want to make sure he is growing at a steady rate now and not continuing to grow slower (does that make sense?). Midwife is not concerned, he his a healthy weight, healthy measurements, they just have to check his growth isn't slowing. As long as you can feel baby wiggling about regularly and don't have any other symptoms I wouldn't worry :) At least you get another chance to see baby before they arrive ;)

I'm still not sure what to do on my birth plan! I'm hoping my consultant will recommend something to me. I really don't want to go overdue again, especially because this is another biggun. Partially hoping she tells me I can't go overdue. She's so laid back though!
