Thanks for the bag condolences. Soaked it in some cool water and woo lite and then gave it a quick cool rinse and it seems ok ! Just mortified that my stuff was covered in wee in the first place !

Hi all! Glad to hear scans and apps are going well - another just had 34 week appointment, head apparently tucked right down in my pelvis and have put on 8kg since booking appt. Measuring spot on too apparently - I like this.
Dp and I realised last night that there are 7 birthdays in his family in march and none in feb so wouldn't say no to baby coming at 38 weeks haha! Not due until 10th though so not likely.
With mothers day and easter all falling in march this year its going to be a busy month!

MyNameIsSuz · 27/01/2016 17:02

I'm due on the 10th too, which means if I go two weeks over the baby will come around the Easter weekend! Only date I really want to avoid is ten days early as that'll be the 29th February and I think a leap birthday would be more trouble than it's worth (though one of the girls on my team said "oh that would be brilliant, you'd save loads of money as they only get a birthday every four years!", shocked faces all around).

We have a few March birthdays too but more in February so I don't really mind. Just need to be organised and buy/wrap all the presents well in advance - job for the first week of maternity leave I think!

Evening all,
Lovely to see all the scans!
Had 31+4 midwife appt today and baby is a third engaged but me and DP disagree on whether the midwife said the baby was back to back or not. I was just too excited to hear the heartbeat do wasn't paying attention Blush can babies turn/rotate or is he stuck back to back now?

I just found the holy grail of an unopened box of Roses from Christmas. Nom.

Ha ha woolballs enjoy Wink yes I believe they can rotate easily. That's amazing baby is a third engaged already!!!

Cheers gem I think me being on my feet most of the day is really letting gravity help!
The chocolates sent him a bit dingy too! Grin

Yes I know what you mean. I'm on my feet a lot too and I know my baby is in the correct position even though I'm not sure whether she's engaged or not I know she's not breech! I think being active really does help.

Congratulations on all the lovely scan results and pictures! I didn't get a scan pic from mine, but the results are all good. Baby's roughly 80th centile on all three measurements and estimated weight is 5lb 14oz (I'm 34+4 today), which means I'm looking at a ~9lb baby if she goes to 40 weeks. Feeling greatly relieved.

Haven't posted in AGES but have been reading. Busier than ever at work handing over to my cover, so trying to teach her the ropes then come home in the evenings and get through all my work I haven't had chance to give to her yet.

I'm 33+6 today so officially due on 10th March but I'll be induced " by 38 weeks " according to my consultant. They say they'll try to leave it until after 37 weeks, so that puts it sometime between 18th - 25th February; i.e. 3-4 weeks time Shock EEEEP!

Have a growth scan on 12th Feb at 36+1 which is when they'll give me the date. On my last one two weeks ago head & leg measurements both hovering around 50th centile but tummy was on 95th (I'm diabetic so this is what they've been checking for). They didn't seem concerned and didn't want to do another scan for 4 weeks, but I'm seeing the consultant on Friday so might see if I can get them to check he hasn't gone completely off the scale.

Useful contribution to the thread - Aldi baby event starts tomorrow www.aldi.co.uk/specialbuys/dates/thursday-28th-january/c/2016-01-28

Hello Grin and hi newbs/long lost returners!

Glad you 'passed' the GTT TheM, & glad the scan is too.

Regarding the 'ladder of pain relief': Gas & air didn't really do anything for me. TENS had more tangible effect, as did being in the water (that was lush!). I'm afraid pethidine or narcotics would make me feel sick, so would skip those and go straight to epidural if I could/needed to. Although I didn't try paracetamol last time (seemed like chucking a Rennie at an acid spill, but it might have made the earlier part a bit better!).

Re: WeeBag: surely I'm not the only one to anticipate such an outcome and put the tube in a sandwich bag just in case?! (Nice ziploc type one will be weewatertight.) (and lol at "woo lite"! Took me a minute!)

OhWool - OctoBaby here swivels round regularly still. Yesterday was clearly back to back as felt like he was clawing at the very front of my belly. Today started back out with kicks in towards the right hand side of my back, and now back to default with kicks on the right of my bump. But then, I'm only 32 weeks.

I'm really struggling with mornings at the moment. Ok getting up and out, but by the time I get to work I'm so tired & feel rubbish. But then fine by the end of the day. What's that about?! Anyone else?

Hello Pug cheers for the Aldi link! Just had a good look through and think I will go pick a couple of things if they are still in stock (my local one gets ransacked pretty quickly.)

I hope you get the induction news you want, it's so surreal that babies are going to be born this thread, obviously Zach gets the gold crown Smile

maybebabybee · 27/01/2016 20:41

Getting intermittent period cramps here guys. Very very mild. Normal?!

Report
Paperblank · 27/01/2016 21:11

Maybe oooh! Best make sure your bag is packed Grin

Pug I'm the same as you. In for induction on 21st unless my bloods are still fannying about and the fluid around the baby is still high. If so I'm likely to be in a week earlier.

Thanks for the ALDI link too - looks great. Fingers crossed there will be some bits left when I get chance to go in tomorrow

Indom I could cry in the morning at the thought of having to get up and go to work but by 11.00 I'm happily in the swing of it. I do think it's because I have so little time left it doesn't feel like I'm working, just that I'm tying up loose ends and helping my colleagues out with their stuff.

What grand plans have you all got for Mat Leave? I'm thinking batch cook, cinema, Netflix binge, naps etc? I feel like I should "do" something like a cross stitch or some crochet maybe?

or bake cake and eat the lot

Hi maybe how many weeks are you? I would try a nice bath and a couple of paracetamol if you feel otherwise well and no other symptoms. I'm not a professional but that's what I would do. Baby still wriggling fine?

MyNameIsSuz · 27/01/2016 21:37

I've been a bit crampy maybe, I keep feeling like I'm going to go into labour soon - I can't, I still have six weeks!

paper, I have plans for mine! The first week I plan to clean one room a day, thoroughly, then after that maybe cook up some Bolognese, stock the freezer, swim, nap, have long baths, read books, wander in and out and look round town at my leisure, finish crocheting my stupid blanket (going very slowly because I've lost enthusiasm and my carpal tunnel is kicking in so hands aren't quite what they should be). This is why I'll be so annoyed if it comes early!

Report
Trinpy · 27/01/2016 21:47

maybe ooh thats interesting. How many weeks are you (sorry, I know you've probably said on this thread somewhere already, but I'm too lazy to scroll back Blush)? I had period type cramps for the last 3-4ish weeks before labour, gradually getting stronger every day, so this could be same thing for you.

I'm ridiculously excited for all of you due at the beginning of March. I can't wait to see all these tiny babies - although it sounds like a lot of these March babies are heading to be on the not-so-tiny side!

indom I also do the zip lock sandwich bag thing. I know myself too well and I probably would have ruined many handbags by now without it.

Paper I've already got started on my mat leave plans of getting the last of the baby stuff down from the attic. I've sorted through it all and binned a load of stuff that was looking a bit worn out. Stage 2 will commence next month when I buy replacements for all the stuff I binned today, plus nappies etc. Then nearer to the time I'm going to do batch cooking, baby clothes washing and a big clean of the whole house. Dh has been nagging me to take my driving test before the baby comes too but I'm too scared Confused.

ThePug · 27/01/2016 21:54

Paper looks like we'll be racing each other to the finish line, wonder who'll get there first!

Do the good Aldi things sell out really quickly? We don't have an Aldi where I am, nearest one is about 10 miles away so I'll probably only get chance to go on Saturday. Will there be anything left Confused I want some baby tights! they're alright for boys, aren't they? I'm thinking they'd be good under dungarees instead of faffing about with keeping socks on. Might also get a moses basket as we hadn't planned to have one (crib upstairs, pram carrycot downstairs if he wants to sleep in something in the day) but for the price they are, it might be good to have the option of one.

Hi everyone. Mind if I join? DS2 due 4th March. Going in for induction at 39 wks due to a bit of melodrama last time! Getting nervous now! Work kicking off and I'm just trying to hang in there for the next 4 weeks til I finish. Broke my foot before Christmas which has been a bit hellish! Still in air cast and on crutches and feel sooo heavy and massive it gets harder every day!! Also starving at night. So glad I'm not weird. I'm eating loads actually. Baby kicks like a frigging ninja - seemingly ALL the time! Do you think that means he'll be a nutty hyperactive baby? Agh I really hope not! Ds1 was pretty hard work so I was really hoping for a cool chilled one this time Grin

Am 34+1. Definitely do not want baby coming yet! Cot isn't even built...

IndomitabIe · 27/01/2016 22:22

Ooh, maybe. Bit early still, isn't it.

You'll have to jinx it to being nothing by building the cot and cooking something to freeze.

Place marking, can't believe we're on thread 9!

Ffaux, I second Me on the tens being a good distraction. It really helped in my labour with DS1 and was the only pain relief I had up to 8cm. The boost button during contractions gives you something to focus on.

After I had Zach I has to have a spinal so they could stitch up my cervix that they cut to get his head out. I agree that the needle was really the last thing on my mind, the anaesthetist was really quick and is imagine if you were having epidural or spinal during labour it would be the last thing you'd be worrying about! (Except maybe for the keeping still during contractions which I think would be pretty hard!)

Found out today that Zach has stage 2 ROP (retinopathy of prematurity), a really common problem with the development of the blood vessels to the retina in premature babies. He has to have another eye scan next week and if it's progressed further (it already went from stage 1 to 2 in a week) then he will need laser eye surgery. Really hope it halts here and sorts itself out but have to brave myself for the potential of him having that done. Was hoping to room in at the hospital this weekend or during the week next week to get breastfeeding properly established before bringing him home so don't know what this means for that as eye dr wrote on his notes 'do not discharge'. Was thinking it would be next week but guess not now. He's also due his 8 week vaccinations today so may be suffering tomorrow as a result. It's crazy they still do them at the same point even on tiny prem babies!

I really hope this thread some other babies come join him, hopefully just as we're taking him home too.

Morning all! Actually had a half decent nights sleep last night, up once for the loo but didn't toss and turn so much and DD slept in until 6.20 which is great for her.

maybe FX your period pains are just a one off or could be painful braxton hicks? My BX have gotten stronger this week, definitely been a few painful rather than just uncomfortable ones.

Welcome luckygirl! Being on crutches sounds like a nightmare. Will you be off them by the time you're induced?

I have loads of plans for maternity leave - too many in fact! Cleaning, cooking, baking, knitting DD2s blanket which is nowhere near done, watching TV boxsets, going for a walk everyday, doing yoga, my hypnobirthing haha think I'm over estimating the number of hours in a day!

Planning on going to Aldi this weekend to stock up on wipes and nappies for DD1 and DD2. Hoping they don't go out of stock!

missi sorry to hear about Zach's eye issues. Hope they get sorted soon and you get to bring him home soon. FX his vaccinations go well too.

Baby is definitely back to back at this stage - am a little concerned as DD was back to back and my labour was long and difficult but at least I'm ready for it this time. My yoga teacher said she'd do a class on positioning next week for me and one other lady so hopefully that will help!

I had a decent night's sleep too, only got up once for the toilet. High five marmite! Am also working at home today as I have my 34 week appointment, so feeling a bit more like I can cope with the day (and more comfy in jogging bottoms!). Hooray!

indom Woo lite was auto correct Grin and funnily enough was going to ziplock it but then thought wrapping in tissue would suffice- never again ! Bag looks battered now after cleaning it .
marmite I'm surprised they haven't covered positioning already at your yoga class. Do you have a yoga ball at home? If you haven't get one they're seriously amazing for helping with positioning.Mine was stubbornly transverse for a while! Go on all fours leaning against the ball wiggling your hips from side to side - do on and off throughout the day, it helps. Also on all fours leaning on ball rocking pelvis forwards/ backwards and rotating it. Check out the spinning babies website too, there are some exercises on there which don't require the ball and are apparently v effective .
Don't want to make you all jealous but am already on Mat leave . My motto so far has been Netflix and naps !

sheh you are so lucky! 3 weeks to go for me.

I had my worst night's sleep in ages! Got about 2 hours from 11.30-1.30am, then I was awake until 3, then dozed 3-5 the sort where you're dreaming but you know you're dreaming and aren't really asleep if you know what I mean! So I'm shattered today, supposed to be going to an event after work but I think I'll give it a miss. No one will want to network with an 8months pregnant woman anyway!

Missi hope Zach's jabs go well. Sorry to hear about his eye problems, but at least there's a solution available with laser eye surgery if necessary. It must be awful though to have to subject your teeny baby to treatment!
