(Missed end of that sentence) "I'm sure your beautiful boy is completely worth every moment"

pug - huge congratulations! I'm so sorry you had to go through all that hideousness. Enjoy your beautiful baby now. From my own experience, I'd recommend that you don't discount getting some counselling or at least a sit down with a midwife to talk through what happened once you feel able. ( This might not be for literally a couple of years). I was able to put a horrific birth experience behind me, but it was only after we ended up at Relate 3 years on! Didn't stop me bonding, adoring and loving every minute of my wonderful little boy though and I'm sure your beautiful boy x

Well done Pug, he is gorgeous. Sounds like you've had an awful ride. I hope you can enjoy baby now and that there are full investigations into the care you received.

We've all moved over to the post natal board (even though most of us are still waiting!) so come on over and repost your update!

Baby Pug was born via emergency c-section after failed induction on Valentines Day at 10.52am weighing 7lb 6oz, at 36+3.

I was kept in after my monitoring on Friday 12th morning and induction started straight away. By Saturday night, things with my health were going seriously wrong (pulse 160 bpm anyone?!) so first thing Sunday after having had my waters broken and baby not reacting, they decided he had to come out immediately. He had to go to NICU on oxygen for a few hours, and stay in there for 4 days on a glucose drip.

I'd developed something which is like pre eclampsia Plus. There isn't much on it online so don't want to be identifiable but it is a syndrome called help with an extra L. Affects about 1 in 2000 pregnancies and rather scarily has a 1 in 4 mortality rate. This was bad enough but there was then an incident where the care I received was totally inadequate and I ended up in a coma, which according to my notes and the classification scale I was at the halfway point between fully normal/responsive and permanent vegetative state. Fortunately they did the right things thereafter and I'm fine, but safe to say the hospital are investigating at the highest level - can't say anymore.

So, a 9 day stay in hospital and two potentially life-threatening incidents later, I came home with Baby on Sunday afternoon. He is doing well but lost a lot of weight so we are feeding him up. So far I've somehow managed via breastfeeding (with limited success as he's very sleepy still) and pumping. Hoping to get him onto the breast fully within the next week.

Hope everyone else is doing well and has a better birth experience than mine! Baby at the end is totally worth it though Smile

scared your little girl is gorgeous. Lovely weight for her gestation too. My ds1 was born at 36 weeks and he was 6 and a half lbs.

Here's a pic of ds2 or chunk as he is affectionately called in our house. The midwives were taking bets on his weight as he came out! Haha.

I completely lost track of this thread quite a while back as I've not had an easy pregnancy. My ds was due on 11th March but I was induced 3 weeks early. Went in last thursday evening and had him around 5.20pm Friday. I went from 3 cm to 9 cm in the space of time it took for the poor midwife to walk over to the countertop to write something in my notes before she went on her break. She started to write, I made a noise and she said do you feel like you need to push from your bum. She legged it back over and shouted your 9cm. I needed episiotomy because he was 9lb 9 oz and I just couldn't push his head out. All was fine though and I coped on gas and air. Came home the next day.

I have t looked through this thread properly but from what I've seen some have already had theirs so congratulations and for those still waiting I hope all goes well.

scared she is beautiful. Impressively quick labour, hope you get to go home with her soon.

vroc we are due only a day apart as I will be 38wks on sunday. Worked full time (with 2h commute each way) til thursday (37+4) but it was definitely time to finish when I did. Slipping between a tube train and platform at Victoria earlier in the week gave me a huge scare - luckily just scrapes and bruises. And confirmation a full tube carriage can and will ignore a shaken, heavily pregnant woman sniffing and trying to swpe tears from her cheeks with a copy of time out Sad

I dont have prefered dates and just 1 to avoid - 3/3, just 3 days before due date is my grown up DSD's birthday and fragile relations would not be helped if they share a birthday.

Huge congrats Scared, she is absolutely scrumptious! How well you coped with the labour and birth considering what a rough pregnancy you had with all the worries going right back to the NT measurements in your early scans. I'm so pleased how happy you sound, it totally is all worth it isn't it?! So pleased to hear she's with you on postnatal ward already.

In regards to your sleep wear question, I put Zach to sleep in a short sleeve vest, sleep suit and knitted cardi with no hat. This is how they dressed him in neonatal in an open cot so I'm carrying on with what they did. He sleeps under a sheet, doubled over cellular blanket and a doubled over soft blanket on top. It seems like a lot when everywhere where term babies are discussed it's all about not overheating them but for littlies with not much fat (Zach is currently 4lb 3oz) it's more vital that they don't get too cold. I've also set my thermostat to 21 degrees day and night in whatever room Zach is in. This is still cooler than neonatal, which was between 23-25 degrees. The community care team said know baby reaches 6lb then you can drop heating to 18 degrees. I hope that helps. At the mo I'm way more concerned about Zach getting too cold rather than the other way round.

Don't worry about feeling like you dong know what you're doing. It's a learning curve for us all and your instincts will make sure you do just the right thing for gorgeous little Calais. Xxx

bump my bump does the same with dd but we veiw it in a much more positive way that his excited to be around his big sister. So he really wriggles at the sound of her voice and does the boogie woogie when she sings incy wincy spider to him. She loves finding things to balance on bump for him to move about and kick! Cbeebies must be getting you down...

sherazade - oh my - I could have typed your exact post myself! I swear I'm drinking more gaviscon than tea at the moment. I have everything you have too (except hallucinations) - I'm kind of used to 2 hours sleep a night thanks to my 3 year old sleep refusing son! I really hope the completely uncharacteristic runs isn't a sign of early labor for me - I've got 4 more weeks of work and a 4th birthday party to get through before due date on Good Friday!!

Beautiful name and pictures scared
Having been stuck on the sofa for 4days now with a chicken poxy toddler I have realised that bump doesn't particularly seem to like his/her big brother!! Bump squirms away at the sound of his voice and given the opportunity will give him a good kick! Anyone else have this!?
I could be imagining it in my hormone drenched over dosed on cbeebies state!

scared thanks for the update she is gorgeous and you sound so much happier. Thanks for the encouragement I am so exhausted from lack of sleep that I'm actually hallucinating - had severe insomnia , nausea, the runs and cramping / painful braxton hicks , acid reflux and hip pain for a few nights in a row not sure how I am actually surviving and the tiredness and discomfort are making me feel really negative and tearful.
