Sympathies nehagarg GGT is horrible, I managed to avoid one this time (I'm just on finger prick monitoring every morning) but the stuff they give you to drink is vile too! Hope it comes back ok for you.

bikingintherain · 15/02/2016 10:10

Hope it goes ok nehagarg. I have to have one in a couple of weeks.

Eastend2015 · 15/02/2016 10:32

I've not heard of GTT- is that something everyone has?

GrubbyWindows · 15/02/2016 10:35

Glucose tolerance test, EastEnd. They give it if they think you are at risk of gestational diabetes for whatever reason- I have to have one too, just because DS was big!

Woo hoo amazing room biffle!

nehagarg · 15/02/2016 10:41

Eastend i have diabetes in my family which is why they gave me one. Normal fasting test came back fine.

Thanks for the thoughrs everyone. Really hoping this will come back normal.

Baby has his first sugar rush. He's going crazy in there.

bikingintherain · 15/02/2016 10:58

Eastend I've had them for big babies too, each time they've come back fine so I'm not expecting anything different this time either.

BiffleRoo · 15/02/2016 11:07

Thanks everyone I'm really pleased with it. cautious nothing so elaborate this time. Pale pink and grey with some quotes on the walls and a huge cherry blossom tree in one corner.

Eastend2015 · 15/02/2016 11:44

Ahh, fingers crossed I don't need one then!

Biffle sounds lovely!

mrsmugoo · 15/02/2016 13:23

Sympathies on the GTT! I had one at 36 bloody weeks last time just because I had a small amount of glucose in my urine sample. Was so pointless because even if I had been positive for GD, I was only a week away from term!

strawberrypenguin · 15/02/2016 14:36

I'm surprised they bothered at 36wks mrsmugoo the only thing I can think of is they did it incase they needed to be aware that baby's sugar levels might crash after delivery. Seems pretty pointless otherwise!

GrubbyWindows · 15/02/2016 15:06

Biffle I love your definition of "not elaborate"! I feel like the queen of decor for blue tacking up DS's name in wooden letters!

Neha I hope it all came back ok this am, I hadn't thought of the baby sugar rush effect, tee hee!

Waves at thread- I'm not very up to date, I hope everyone is well, and the chuckers are feeling better!

cautiousoptimist1 · 15/02/2016 15:51

Have to agree about the definition of elaborate grubby! I was thinking my plans (only in my head so far) for some cushions, shelves and a couple of framed pictures were pretty creative but I'm a mere novice!!Grin

JellyBaby26 · 15/02/2016 16:54

Oh dear. Heartburn is now in full swing. Awesome!

nehagarg · 15/02/2016 17:12

Thanks all. GTT all done. They'll tell me if its high in 2-3 days. No news will be good news. Smile

Jelly. Sounds horrendous. Does gaviscon help?

OP posts:
Belleboo23 · 15/02/2016 17:49

I've heard the liquid is better than the tablets for heart burn but I havnt had it for a while will buy some soon to keep in though.

Ladies who have used wooden cribs rather than moses baskets on average how long do they last, I've read they until about 6 months but I don't know anyone with one to ask

MollieRos · 15/02/2016 18:07

Biffle that's lovely! though I agree with the others- you probably need to re-think your definition of "elaborate" Grin

fingers crossed nehagarg

JellyBaby26 · 15/02/2016 18:22

Gaviscon helps temporarily. Dr has given me omeprazole but I am reluctant to start that just yet!

mrsmugoo · 15/02/2016 18:34

I took omeprazole from about 25 weeks onwards last time jelly!

mrsmugoo · 15/02/2016 18:36

Belleboo - we have a mini cot that we used until he went into his own room in a cotbed at 7 months. I did co- sleep until about 4 months so it didn't actually get that much use but it was cheap as chips from kiddicare so not the end of the world.

laughingGnomette · 15/02/2016 18:38

Lovely room Biffle!!

Good luck nehagarg, I've got mine soon but don't really see the point as the baby isn't measuring big and I have no history or family history of diabetes. Better to be safe than sorry though.

JellyBaby sympathies!

Spock27 · 15/02/2016 19:50

Biffle that's amazing, how did you do it? Did you paint it? I was thinking of doing something similar but I doubt it would look anywhere near as good as that!

dollydaydream84 · 15/02/2016 20:18

Gorgeous room Biffle!

I did post a post last week to say my scan went well :) and the consultant was really lovely and I feel I have much more choice whether to VBAC or ELCS than was originally indicated. However I can't find the post!

Felt sicker than ever today, almost 22 weeks - when will it end! lol!

Hope all are well.

mrsmugoo · 15/02/2016 20:45

When I went for my VBAC appointment I was surprised that it was presented to me as a straight 50/50 choice. I want to go for a VBAC anyway but if I'd decided on an ELCS I got the impression it would have been a tick in that box and that was that. I always thought that if you had no reason for a repeat section they'd strongly advise a VBAC?

dollydaydream84 · 15/02/2016 21:27

Mrsmugoo- when I asked on here before hand everyone said it would be my choice but at the 12 week appointment the midwife indicated it wouldn't be my choice so I've worried needlessly for 9 weeks that they would force me into a VBAC. I don't definitely want another section but I need time to think! Very reassured after meeting the consultant he's been lovely & said I can have a growth scan at 36 weeks to help me decide.

To be honest I just want someone to decide for me. Scared of same thing happening with a VBAC scared of c section complications. Don't know what's going to make me decide :(

MadrigalElectromotive · 15/02/2016 21:42

Had a bit of a mini drama today - didn't feel any movements from about 2pm so rang the hospital an hour ago and they said to go in. Baby was all fine. Smile But I feel like I wasted the lovely midwife's time! Am 25 weeks today, so hoping it's just because she's still a bit small.
