Well I can't believe I am doing this but I am petrified the old thread is about to get filled up and we are going to loose people. ...

Happy New Thread (fingers buffering crossed this works AND I can manage to post the link Confused )

Re my placenta I'm sure it was posterior at 12 week scan but now I just can't remember. My notes say "placenta: "

It's blank! Bastards!

BiffleRoo · 13/01/2016 07:21

I'm getting really worried about my baby. I've barely put on any weight, no discernible bump and I'm not feeling movement. I'm 18+5

jellybelly85 · 13/01/2016 07:34

Biffle - when is your next appointment. I would try not to worry. Midwife told me that movement vary - they become regular around 20-23 weeks. I'm seeing it a bit like morning sickness. Some of us were 'blessed' by this constant reminder that we were pregnant - whereas other felt nothing. Same that some will feel movements early, but not everyone - until around 23 weeks. Weight gain is also really variable - some women put nothing on until 3rd trimester (and even then, some have hardly any bump and baby is still fine!) No harm calling midwife to put your mind at ease though x

I've not had any movement yet - just the womb stretching pains every now and then. 17+6 today.

BiffleRoo · 13/01/2016 07:53

jelly I don't have mw or consultant app until 28 weeks but my scan is Monday so that will tell me all I need to know. I pick up a good strong heartbeat and movements with the Doppler though. Guess it's just so different to my other 3 pgs and I can't help compare. Thanks for the reassurance.

bikingintherain · 13/01/2016 08:09

I know what you mean about comparing though biffle. I have not got a big bump at all yet, definitely could look like I've just put on weight. Whereas I'm sure the other two I was bigger now. Maybe I should get my notes out and look!

But I also find everyone else compares it to my other pregnancies too. So I guess it's only natural that I would.

Betty79 · 13/01/2016 08:11

I'm 18+3 today and I wouldn't say I have much of a bump yet, I have put on about 10lbs tho but I'm not surprised as all I've done is eat to try and stop the nausea! But I am feeling the baby move daily since about 5 days ago.

Has anyone else had any Brixton hicks yet? I'm sure I've been getting them now and then, almost like waves if that makes sense but not painful. They remind me of when I went into to labour with dd1 which is why I'm sure they are Braxton hicks.

Still feeling rubbish today, I hate being ill.

mrsmugoo · 13/01/2016 08:15

No BH yet but I didn't get them to nearer 30 weeks last time then I had them a lot and they were really uncomfortable.

I've gained a stone now! But I do have a fair sized bump and I have to keep remembering I lost 2 stone in weight last year so even now I'm still a stone lighter than this time last year!

We had our first night with DS with his cot side off last night. Figured we might as well get it done now with plenty of time before baby sister arrives. He was fine - don't think he even noticed the difference really!

JellyBaby26 · 13/01/2016 08:22

I wouldn't worry about not gaining weight biffle.

When I last weighed myself a few weeks ago I had only put on a pound.

I'm actually scared to weigh myself now as I promised myself I wouldn't eat and eat and eat like last time but the past few weeks I've been really naughty!

Definitely no BH here but don't think I had them until 30 odd weeks last time and they became so uncomfortable when walking downhill. Luckily we have moved house where no hill is involved Star

kezod · 13/01/2016 09:22

congratulations on the great scan news ladies, mine isn't until 1st Feb (feels like ages away).
My name wasn't on the stats sheet when I went to update it, so I've put it back on Confused

laughingGnomette · 13/01/2016 10:55

No BH here but I didn't get them at all in my last pregnancy.

Anyone suffering badly with 'baby brain'? I often can't string sentances together, remembering names is horrible. I just had a meeting and I couldn't remember the name of my manager!!! I keep losing things and simple mental arithmetic is a struggle. It's so embarrassing and frustrating :(

nehagarg · 13/01/2016 10:59

Me! Me! ... I cant remember simple words either and end up making stuff up to try and get my point across. The other day I spent an entire day wearing two earrings in one ear (and nothing in the other) and didnt realise I had done that.

DH is beginning to wonder how I can be trusted with a baby.

PrincessPunzie · 13/01/2016 11:38

Scan this morning and all good here - I asked the sonographer about my minimal weight gain and the fact I haven't felt baby move, she said that both were completely normal and for a first baby they wouldn't expect me to feel movement until about 24 weeks, so ladies please don't worry - I know I was (I was utterly convinced my baby had stopped developing) but everything here is as normal as can be. We're team blue, like I thought we would be x

emma85x · 13/01/2016 12:11

Princess CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Biffle please don't worry, I haven't put much weight on, only I can feel a bump, no one else can see one and I haven't felt any movement at all. Not worried as have been told that's completely normal! (I'm 17+6 today) Please don't worry!

RANT ALERT!!!.... You may remember me saying last week that my MW sent off my urine sample for proteins (a week ago) I've called my GP surgery every day since and have been fobbed off every time with 'nothing's wrong unless we call you so stop calling' Well it's a good job I ignored rude receptionist as I called just now and I need antibiotics. I had cystitis a week ago you idiots!!! It's gone now!!! GRRRR.... I needed them a week ago, I'm fine now. Anyway, receptionist said to take them anyway. I asked to see a GP to discuss and no appointments for 3 weeks. Should I take them? Sorry, rant over!

dollydaydream84 · 13/01/2016 12:13

In the nicest possible way I'm so glad other people had gained weight! I had gained about 4lb by this point last time, I have gained a stone and its making me worry as I gained 4stone in total (2.5 of it was baby, placenta, fluid) last time. Now the sickness has hopefully gone for good (never thought I would say that) I have been eating more slimming world friendly. Not aiming to lose weight but keeping to a 2.5stone gain in total would be amazing. Watch this space for the crying face in about 4 months time when I have gained about 8 stone!Grin Blush

Congrats on all the scans, how exciting! Had my 28 week appointment through 1st April, be here before we know it! This pregnancy is flying by! I didn't get BH last time and haven't had any yet this time.

Absolutely laden with a cough and a cold and have pulled a muscle in my side from coughing so much it is really annoying and painful! Hope all are well x

GrubbyWindows · 13/01/2016 12:40

Congrats scannees!!!
It feels like tatted has only just had her 12 week one, and we are galloping into the 20 weekers!
emma I wouldn't bother. Maybe ring your midwife for her thoughts, but taking meds you don't need seems pretty pointless, and you would still get any side effects. How maddening of your GP though!!!!!!!! That is really crap!!!! Thank goodness it did clear up, rather than get worse and worse!

I can't resist sticking my oar into the buggy chat. I'm in a small London flat, upstairs, walk loads, get buses and trains loads, no car. We just had a sling for the first 9 months, as I couldn't bear the size of prams. We had a McLaren I hated after that, then lucked out and were given a hand me down micralite superlight which we all LOVE. Amazing fold (you can fold with crap in the basket!!!). Big back wheels mean it's a breeze up and down stairs and hills and in the park, folds as small as an umbrella fold stroller, nippy on the bus. You need a cot or a car seat for a newborn though, but we are planning to sling it again until the new baby is big enough for it.
I have friends with similar setups who love the baby zen yoyo which works from birth and folds to Ryanair cabin bag size, but has smaller wheels so less amazing on stairs and lumpy roads. Obsessed much? Me???

GenevaJoey · 13/01/2016 13:00

GrubbyWindows - can I ask about the sling. Was yours first a winter or summer baby? I have heard slings can be uncomfortably hot and sweaty, and it does get quite warm here in the summer, so I am not sure if a pram would be better... I am not a city dweller, though live on the outskirts, and won't be using public transport all the time, which I imagine is where prams are really annoying.

clarish84 · 13/01/2016 13:58

Had our 20 week scan today I'm 19+2 weeks all is well but they couldn't look at his face because he wouldn't move his hand off his face bless . And couldn't see his heart enough to measure so have go back in 3 week x I'm so relived he's ok was worrying as I have no bump and haven't felt him move but my placenta is also anterior so could be why x x hope everyone else is well x

seafoodeatit · 13/01/2016 14:21

I've just found this part of the forum!

I'm pregnant with our second and due at the end of June, I'm only 16 weeks so still waiting for my 20 week scan date to come through.

kezod · 13/01/2016 14:25

congrats clarish

I have terrible baby brain, its affected my ability to drive massively! Same last time, I've scraped a few hedges so far, I really must concentrate more!

GrubbyWindows · 13/01/2016 14:56

joey he's a march baby, and we used slings until he was 18 months, so all seasons!
I started with a stretchy t-shirt fabric one which you wrap, which I loved. It got too hot in high summer (we spent that summer on Italy, so proper hot), so I had a thin cotton wrap which was good but fiddly, and then a Connecta solarweave which is super light and super easy, and DP carried on using until 18 months.
We tried lots in a local sling library, and hired 4 or 5 different ones before hitting on perfection with the connecta. Lots did feel too heavy, both DS and DP are sweaty bods, so the solarweave fabric, which is super light and breathable- you can even shower in it if you have a really unputdownable baby- suited us perfectly.
If you can possibly try a few for a few days it is well worth it, but I'd recommend starting with a cheap stretch wrap and taking it from there. Don't wear much between you and the baby and your magic body will regulate both your temperatures.

emma85x · 13/01/2016 15:05

Welcome seafoodeatit

Thank you to grubby for getting back to me. I'm going to drive up there after work, I don't have my MW's phone number. Thank you for the advice though, I'm tempted not to take them.

Torfhinn · 13/01/2016 15:28

Sorry I've gone awol for the last week, i was ill, doing overtime, then ds got ill. So a pretty busy week!

Congratulations on those who've had their scans, lovely to hear great news.

I have an anterior placenta and only felt movements very low down, sometimes i go for days without feeling much when i guess the baby swims away!

I have the uppababy cruz as well. I love it and plan to use it again, but not sure what to do with ds! Not sure if i can find a buggy board that will attach to it or if ds will even go for that. Really, really don't want a double! I did lots of baby wearing until ds was about 4/5 months, then he got so heavy i found it difficult. I have a lovely thin calin bleu gauze wrap that is great for summer. Also have a manduca soft structured carrier that is a bit more robust and more daddy-friendly. I'd recommend them both.

MollieRos · 13/01/2016 18:00

emma how frustrating! It'll be interesting to see what your midwife thinks- there doesn't seem much point taking them if the problem's passed! Does your GP do telephone consultations? Might be worth asking, as then you can often get a phone consult a lot sooner than they'd be able to fit you in for a face to face appointment.

I'm 20+1 and I've felt a few braxton hicks (at least, I think that's what they are- my uterus/bump suddenly goes really solid and rounded like a ball). Not painful but they feel really strange and uncomfy. I haven't had many, maybe 5 over the last week or so. TMI but similar has been happening for several weeks immediately after sex, but this is just at random times through the day. Very odd!

Baby brain... aargh! I run training courses as part of my job, I did a full day course on Monday and could barely string a sentence together coherently! I felt like a right wally standing there!

mrsmugoo · 13/01/2016 18:29

Lol yes your womb contracts when you have an orgasm Blush

MollieRos · 13/01/2016 20:08

mrsmugoo it's such a strange sensation! It has slightly ruined the mood a couple of times, due to all the giggling and the "aargh, feel how weird my belly's gone...!" (sorry everyone for the TMI Blush)
