Hi Girls,

Back from Geordieland!

Glad to hear you're having a fab time with your DH LG&T. Assume the ball was fabulous too and the champers flowed.

MKG - Got the nose bleeds too, but only intermitently. Thank Goodness.

Bethnalhembub - my 20wk scan is on the 16th too. Is your's at the Royal too?? Mine is 9am.

Got my mw appt today. Hoping she listens to heartbeat. Am getting anxious as little weight gain and it's too early for me to feel movement as this is my first, so convinced all is not well - pure pg-panic mode.

Pebble - sorry your DH is being a bit of a tw*t. Sounds like he needs to grow up a bit and make some grown up choices. He needs to put you and the kids first and give his mum a good talking too. She's only bluffing with the ultimatum. If he tells her how it's going to be she won't risk loosing him. MIL's - ARRRGGGHHH

Right, I'm giving up on this site for the weekend. The font colours are getting worse and its beginning to irritate me. Have a good weekend everyone. Lets hope normal service resumes soon.

JonahB · 15/12/2006 12:40

Letitshnow ? thanks for the advice. Maybe I am overdoing it this week. I?ve been working silly hours, been out late, work?s do last night?.

RRBH ? poor old Bertie, eh? How come you have an office dog? Is yours a 9 to 5 workplace or 24 hours? Must be lovely to have a dog running round the office, must be a great morale booster!

Pebble, I think there?s a stomach bug going round. I?m not feeling right and quite a few people I?ve spoken to say they?ve got similar symptoms.

MKG ? sorry, but I had to laugh at your little tinker. Poop everywhere, and him in the middle as pleased as punch. It?s at moments like that I think, ?g-d, it?s a good job I love you so much?. I used to walk in to find DS had thrown up in the night. Everywhere. And I mean covering him, the cot, under and over his clothes. So, you have to wake them up, strip them off, clean them up, redress them and the cot, while they are crying their eyes out. That is just horrid. At least your DS was smiling through his (admittedly unrealised) adversity?

largevirginbirthandtonic · 15/12/2006 12:46

Aaaaaaagggghhhhh What the **ck???? I hate this layout. There is no threads im on bit....Xmas Angry

On a lighter note....>

I still have 15 left {fgrin]

Dh is cooking me lunch, a yummy pasta and tomato concoction mmmmmmmmmm

Jess im still up for the roll ups n lucky charms, make me a list of stuff you would like to sample. Marmite..., Medised, clotted cream fudge?, marmalade, english tea. What else is typically british you cant get over there? Think we should wait till new year to post when the crappy postal system has caught up. It's shocking over here at xmas.

All the xmas plays are finished now, no more coffee and mince pes in school, we have been to 3 this week, a parent teacher, 2 discos and a partridge in a bloody pear tree....They have to go back to school next week too...for monday and finish at 2 on tueasday gah!!!

Very long post, sorry. How is everyone else?

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 15/12/2006 12:56

Ooh a KK

DH just met me for an early lunch, with picnic- lots of pasta and homemade pizza, nibbles, fresh orange juice. Love that man!

Send jess some wine gums, very reliable American colleague just told me they don't have them. No marmite and now no wine gums, I'm never crossing the pond...

katybumps · 15/12/2006 13:43

afternoon all havent got time to catch up il do that in the morn just letting you know im off to see snow patrol and am very excited oh yeah and ive got my twenty week scan on tuesday take care xx

RobinRedBreastsKennedy · 15/12/2006 14:39

Im starting to think that maybe Im looking at a different site.. My one has 'threads im on' at the top, just type is smaller. And the colours are the same, albeit a shade more lilac. I no longer have a bar down the left hand side.. erm.. have I still got the old one?

Baublesbenson · 15/12/2006 14:43

Mine has changed too - maybe they're experimenting on us?

lildrummerKel · 15/12/2006 15:03

Yeah this format fiddly business is making my head hurt.

Is it just me, or does everyone find they have zero tolerance at times like this?

Help! Since someone mentioned shrugs, I've been obsessing about finding one to keep me warm at MIL's this xmas. It's bleedin' cold over there in Germany and their houses never seem warm enough either... any hints?

may I please have a Krispy Kreme too?

Baublesbenson · 15/12/2006 15:23

If your're feeling crafty you could make one by cutting a jumper off just under the arms and binding the raw edge with some tape...

or next have 'em (don't seem to be able to find a short link, so search for shrug)

largevirginbirthandtonic · 15/12/2006 15:39

Katybumps...Xmas Envy I love, love, love Snow Patrol!!!! Very of you. We have our 20 week scan the same day too....spooky....!!!

Have found the my threads bit now, im sure it wasnt there before.... Still hate the new look, all squished.

Shrugs are fab i have 2, would you like to borrow one? Have a green one and a beige one.

Ive eaten 4 today so far...a maple one for brekkie, choc cake one for elevenses and powdered cinnamon and apple and a custard filled choc topped one for afernoon tea...

lildrummerKel · 15/12/2006 16:11

Oooh thanks for the shrug suggestions!! How does one sew tape into the edges? Do you need a machine? Sorry I did learn to sew at one point but have since abandoned hopes of becoming yummy earth mummy - tho I did knit a few inches when pg last year in vain attempt to make scarf for DH. Damn those tiny needles....

LVB&T you're not serious about lending me one - ? I'll check out Next. Also Sainsbury's (how sad am I) at my next foodshop. Seems the only place I can get to with any regularity these days - DS a bit poorly and this dreaded weather, yuck.

Super about the KKs.

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 15/12/2006 16:15

Right, serious topic for Friday afternoon, but how the hell does anybody ever afford childcare?

Been thinking about what I am going to do when I return to work full time and started checking out nursery fees. The university I work at has a nursery attached... £185pw.

It's not worth me going back to work.

lildrummerKel · 15/12/2006 16:39

Hi Shnow, yeah, it's absolutely maddening, isn't it? . Where I live, it costs about £60 a day for a nursery place. I'd get no vouchers so would have to be paid with net pay (as opposed to pre tax). Which means at least £100 of gross pay goes to the nursery, every day. Didn't take me long to realise I'd not be going back to work.

To make you laugh: my would-be boss told me once, during an 'just feeling you out' conversation when DS was only 9wks old (!) that "well, no, you wouldn't make much more than childcare costs, but most women don't work for the money, you know, they do it because they want to!" Har-dee-har-har!!!!! . If it wasn't so misplaced it would've made me very upset.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 15/12/2006 16:39

Course you can borrow one Kel, just let me know soon as. You know how crappy our post is here at xmas.

I have no idea how i will ever afford to go back to work, i would do shifts in the hospital and if in the community i would be on call and do clinics, home visits etc... I would ned a very flexible nanny. One that could be called upon in the night too, dh is Navy so could be away, and we ladies hardly ever birth in the day, so id need her to have the kids at night too!!! Never gonna happen, is quite worrying really. I loved my job, hey ho. The price we pay for having babies i suppose, i love them all but as a woman it's very limiting going down the many babies route.

twelvedaysofchristmas · 15/12/2006 16:44

LVB&T. I am laughing my ass of at you. You're hysterical. 4 HOUR round trip. They are good though...

No work done here today. It's charrrriiddeee day. We raised a half a million quid though, which goes to show how much money bankers make. The company is matching it to make it up to ONE MAAILLLIIOONNN POUNDS. (That was said like Dr Evil in Austin Powers, in case you're wondering.)

Plus, we got to see the boss's boss dressed up a woman (including "panty hose" as he says as he's American) and being ritually humiliated by Ruby Wax as she interviewd him on the trading floor and it was broadcast to the whole building. Mwwwaahahhhaaa. She even rang his wife at one point and tried to get out of her what he got for his bonus last year. It was gas.

I'm thinking of asking them will they have a TDOC charity day to pay for the new fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer we need as soon as we move house. Unlikely, but hey.

The vendor of our house was going to sell us his washing machine and dryer. Both over 5 years old. I looked up on ebay and stuff that's around 18 mths old was going for about £75 a pop so I offered him £50 each for them. He said wanted £100 each. He can fck right off. If the bearings in the washing machine were to go (quite possible in a 5 yr old machine) it would cost over £100 to fix. False economy and told him so. Cheeky moo. That's the wrong price isn't it? £100 for a 5 yr old washing machine that cost less than £300 brand new? Sorry, how incredibly dull for everyone. I'll shut up now.

Ooooh, had some LOVELY news. My friend who's been trying for ages has just found out she's pg. A few weeks after deciding that IVF was going to be the only thing that could help them. I'm so happy for her. We'll be three months apart. Lots of baby glue being sent to her and I'll be sending up all my Christmas prayers for her little one to hold on.

JonahB · 15/12/2006 16:50

LDK ? I have absolutely zero tolerance at the moment. Poor DH got severely scolded this am when I texted him to place my chocolate order and the poor, confused man had to somehow guess what chocolate I required at that very moment in time from the shops. Poor lamb .

LVG&T ? can you chuck one all the way up to M?cr please? That custard filled choc one sounds amazing!!!!

I?m also concerned about childcare costs. I currently pay £36.50 per day, 2 days a week. DH is a SAHD for the other 3 days. The nursery have informed me you don?t get any discount for no. 2. Great. So, that?s c. £630/month for two. Eek!!! EEEEKKK!!! I haven?t broached this with DH yet, but I don?t know how we are going to afford that!

largevirginbirthandtonic · 15/12/2006 16:55

12DOC what a bloody rip off for the white goods, well done at telling him to stuff it. Im very glad for your friend, sending her tons of baby glue. I love Ruby Wax, i bet it was hysetrical

My donut hunt was no laughing matter, very serious business actually. I had to go to the store finder on the KK website, print off the closest stores, refernce to a map. Plan a route, drive it (dh is yum, but does not drive) sooooooo worth it. Bah to having one over the road Xmas Envy Could be a good thing though, im averaging 4 a day at the moment can you imagine if i had a stockist near me!!! LOL LOL

twelvedaysofchristmas · 15/12/2006 17:34

I suppose now wouldn't be a good time to mention that I'm going to be near Littlehampton at a wedding tomorrow and could have brought some down for you to pick up? Would have arranged to meet properly but it's a real flying visit, what with having to drive all over the bleeding country to get childcare. (See below.)

I'm having a nightmare. I have a lovely friend (in Essex) who never says not to anything and agreed to mind DD whilst she had a sick baby, but she also now has a 6 yr old with tonsillitis. Felt terrible so got DH to ask his sister (in Hertfordshire) if she would mind DD. She's obv a bit "surprised" to have that sprung on her at the last minute...

Anyway, at least she agreed. I'll just be racking up hundreds of miles as my DH doesn't drive either. Tch. Central London, to Hertfordshire to West Sussex... I don't do things by halves.

MistletoeandPebblemum · 15/12/2006 17:38

Afternoon all

Im glad the site is looking a bit more normal now, how dare they upset pregnant women by changing it around

After spending all yesterday decorating our tree and taking it all off again to redo it about three times i have now decided to buy a small one for my ds's bedroom. I must be mad. This one though is going to be covered in decorations that the boys have made themselves. Im feeling very creative at the moment but now my tree is looking how i want it i dont want to add homemade things to it (no matter how great they will look )There wont be any lights on it but im sure it will look the part.

Dh managed to get the part for our tumble dryer so that will save us a bit of money (but it means i have to get on with the washing now though (bah humbug)

We were supposed to be having our photos done on Sunday, i was looking forward to getting some nice ones of the ds's but we had a phone call today, the photograph studio has gone bust as of 4pm yesterday. What is it with companies lately. The poor girls who had to make the phone calls were almost in tears, they work on commission and of course now there wont be any (or christmas bonuses)plus they have the lovely prospect of job hunting straight after Christmas My neighbour had just had a big family picture done to give to her mum for Christmas and was worried she would lose the money she had paid and not get the photo but luckily her sister had collected the photos on Wednesday. She must have nine lives, she decided against saving with farepak in January and so she didnt lose anything when they went bust (she goes with them every year normally)and now she escaped becomming a victim of Olan Mills, she says her luck is bound to run out soon. I think i will steer clear of anything she does, its jinxed

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 15/12/2006 20:33

Hey everyone. I really don't like the new set up. The font is too small.

Anyway we're having a quiet day at home. Did all the Christmas shopping yesterday. Unfortunately my bump decided to tell me it was a little tired. I got the worst pain across the bottom of my bump. It's been doing that whenever I get too active. Today it hurts to walk around. I think I'm just stretching and growing, and have been doing too much lately. Oh well. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

lucyw19 · 16/12/2006 10:02
